18: Old Habits Never Die

I was weak.

I felt numbed by the excruciating pain radiating all over my body. I tried to stay awake and to oppose against my body's protest to rest. I tried to open my eyes and witness the battle that would determine our worthiness to the throne. But of course, such privilege won't be given to us in a facile way knowing the responsibility that would be placed upon our shoulders once we sit on that high peak of status.

And I was grateful that I overcame the challenge because the fruit of it was so blood-curdling -despite the fact that I lost so much blood from being technically shredded into bits from what Lucian deemed to be adorable- and majestic that not even the known noblest man from any known royal blood can battle against even if he was deemed as a hero.

This event showed me how beautiful it was to live and how beautiful it was to love the man who can create such spine-chilling twist of events. My loyalty and faithfulness to him and his return really paid off. I felt proud at my endurance and I felt even prouder at the King of Life himself.

When I saw how hostile Lusceviel was even to Lucian, I was extremely worried that Luscev might do the same barbaric thing to his birth-father despite having Raphael, Samael and Caleb down there. Not that Caleb can do much now that his senses were completely obliterated by the explosion but I trust that Samael had something up in his sleeve if worse comes to worst. He possessed the same height of love for the man that only we can match and knowing that he was the most powerful among us five, I was sure that nothing bad will happen to Lucian.

My twin did his best to help me stand on my own two legs despite his boiling passion to be down there and have more roles in the action taking place. But even if he did go down there, I doubt that he'll contribute much seeing how strong Lusceviel was. His strength was neither monstrous nor weedy. No known monster can reach that kind potential but we cannot classify him as a feeble creature either.

My heartbeat increased in rate and my piqued interest stomped on my exhausted form as we witnessed the deity that protected the people from the gruesome beast that was said to be raised by the red moon. That deity was the same ancient who saved the world thousands of years ago from the supposed darkness and rot that could have ended all life.

He was a man of unshaken principles that would make you question your own sanity because he will confuse you with his witty and hurtful remarks which were one of his best qualities. He was hard-headed, sharp-tongued and oblivious to his own savagery as he would look at you with those innocent dull blue eyes that resembled the sparkling blue waters of the virgin seas of the ancient era wherein huge and savage and ferocious beast lurk underneath.

Lucian was a man who would surpass all your expectations and flip you over with the emotions that he lacked within himself. The evolution of his strength was endless and his weakness cannot be determined for he was a creature that was enveloped in mysteries that dodged revelations.

He becomes even more beautiful as time passes by and as histories of the unknown become buried in the shadows of ambiguity and the forgotten.

Thousands of yellow flower petals that hunched together to structure up two wings formed behind Lucian. The radiant glow of his body increased in lighting that his appearance became blinding even from afar. Light consumed the floors of the crumbled battlegrounds and life took its place from the disaster that was short-lived. Luscev seemed to continue with his hostility as he found himself completely surrounded by the power of the King of Eli and even more so when waters from below the foundations of the arena rose in great walls and covered the open ceiling which blocked the light of the red moon.

The citizens of Eli who had the ability to bear light illuminated the dark yet harmless cage made by their King yet the brightest light was the King himself.

"Slade...I wa-want to come closer to him..." I wheezed out. I didn't hear a word of complaint from my twin and I thought that he didn't hear me until he permitted my request and we slowly descended towards the center of occasion.

Luscev seemed to be threatened by the blinding light and the intimidating presence of the calm wall of the waters. The King stayed indifferent as he remained in his calm posture while effortlessly controlling the powerful elements of nature. "Requiescere, flos meus... (rest, my flower...)"

The feared beast snarled at his birth father and took a step back. His stance showed fear as he was showing signs of cowering back. A big red flower that showed resemblance to the flower that housed the fetus Luscev grew out of Lucian's abdomen and at the same time ripping the chiton off his body. The flower became bigger than its creator and then all of a sudden it closed itself around Luscev's beast form that struggled and later on, showed no restraint. A loud snore came from the sleeping beast which then caused the citizens of Eli to cheer for another victory of their deity.

"If only we can return all bratty kids in their mother's baby ovens when they throw a bitch fit then life could have been easier to live in for unprepared and inexperienced parents," Samael commented.

"Tsk, I was expecting Lucian to kick the kid's butt for being too difficult to handle," Slade spoke in an upset tone.

"Heh, you're gonna let Lucian fight all your battles for you?" Samael questioned in a teasing manner.

Slade grunted. "I'm just saying that it could have been a prettier sight."

The flower detached itself from Lucian's stomach and continued to bring comfort to the sleeping beast. Lucian paid no attention to the cheers around him and proceeded to approach us as his bright radiance died down a little along with the wide coverage of his powers that left a remarkable remembrance to the soil. The waters humbled down and I felt Lucian's cold hand caress my cheek.

"You should rest too..." he murmured. His hands turned into twin golden blades and Riu landed beside him.

"Future Kings of Eli, line up for the blessing of his Royal Majesty, King Lucian!" he announced firmly and positioned his hands behind his back with his chest raised in pride. The cheering died down and the people paid respects to the ritual.

Samael and Raphael helped the unconscious Caleb up and they lined beside us. Lucian placed both of his swords on top of Samael's head and a bright light shimmered from the top of Samael's head down to his feet that the demon unexpectedly fell on his knees and brought Caleb and Raphael down with him.

The man suddenly sang a song that started with Ave Maria as he looked at the dark and reddish skies above.

"Uhhh Samael?" Raphael questioned the man's sudden interest in holy songs.

"Praise Jesus and say Hallelujah everyone! Forbidden fruits make many jams! Don't jam that breakfast toast if you want to go to heaven! Accept the friend request from Jesus and block Satan in twitter! Amen?"

The people looked at each other in question before answering an unsure yet humorous "Amen" just to pay reverence to the newly blessed King.

Lucian did the same to Caleb who then woke up from unconsciousness and then suddenly broke into a crying and sobbing fit. "I dreamt of many baby Lucians! It was beautiful!" he cried and then suddenly he became stoic. "But at the same time, it was upsetting because I know that there aren't any baby Lucians," he muttered with a narrowed and serious expression. Caleb suddenly broke into a dam of wheezing fits before clinging himself to Raphael who tried to pry the crying werewolf off.

"Get off of me you fool!" Raphael growled."

"Why am I so bipolar?!" Caleb cried and blew his snot on Raphael's sleeve.

"Crazy people don't diagnose themselves crazy! Stop being stupid!" Raphael snarled.

"Don't let worries kill you, let the church help! Amen?" Samael asked the crowd again with raised fists and the audience answered with much enthusiasm.

Even in my state of weakness, my dying attention gave itself to the fools who were acting even more foolish.

"¿Qué coño...? (What the fuck...?)" Slade grumbled as we witnessed the craziness going on with the two blessed men.

When it was the fallen angel's turn to be blessed, Raphael shoved the sobbing Caleb on the ground and propelled the preaching Samael's head with his metallic boot. Raphael kissed the blades that blessed him and Lucian placed his blades on top of the blue winged Angel's head. I noticed a slight twitch that occurred on Lucian's lips and I had a strong feeling that all the craziness that was occurring was a welcoming prank by the ancient.

What can I expect? Samael took after him so it was pretty obvious that we were always in danger to fall for his pranks and savagery seeing that Samael did not waste a day in torturing everyone with his witty and hurtful remarks that were so demoralizing.

Riu was shaking his head in embarrassment as if he was too tired to scold Lucian for his antiques.

Raphael suddenly did a back flip and then shoved Samael's face behind. "Do you people want some cock?! Well you're in luck because I am a cock and I have a cock!"

When it was Slade's turn to be sanctified, he extended his arm to halt Lucian from placing his swords. "Nope, I'm not turning into one of those idiots. I'm better off crownless than brainless."

Lucian blinked at him in question. "Is that so? You rather stay in the basement of the castle than to have a nice and warm room with me?"

"Damn right, I'm not suffering from having to do stupid and insane actions," my twin huffed.

"You won't suffer insanity if you enjoy it Slade and you seem to have enjoyed it throughout the years so I see no reason for you to deny an extra boost," Lucian commented.

I sighed impatiently and nodded at Lucian whose lips twitched in an attempt to stop a smile. I mustered all the strength I have gathered up until now to shove Slade forward who cursed at me. Lucian quickly placed his blades on top of my twin's head and my twin was sanctified like the rest.

"Lucian..." Slade whispered shakily and dropped to his knees. He kissed Lucian's bare feet and embraced the man's hips. "I will never lie to you again. I will always praise you and I will never deny how I'm always dying to touch your soft skin and have your lips pressed against mine. In all truth, I'm just really shy..."

This confession will bite him in the ass later.

"That's good to know Slade. I will use that against you once you become sane again," Lucian stated with his lips slowly turning into a mischievous smile as he stroked Slade's scalp.

I presented my head willingly when Lucian turned his attention to me. I do not have the power within me to put up a fight against the man. And it would seem that Lucian won't let this insanity go permanently. This must be just to satisfy his amusement that was actually funny once we all realize what we have done later on.

When those blades landed gently on my head, a flash of colorful lights appeared that made my eyes close from their brightness. When I reopened my eyes, I was now looking at the starry night skies and instead of the red moon; a light azure sphere reined the firmament.

I felt the cold and slick fluid movements of something across my body and the chilly surface where I was lying on. I raised my head and found that it was water moving on itself to cure my naked body. I noticed someone's presence beside me and found that the other four were still unconscious and were in the same state. Lucian was sitting beside me with his fox tail waving calmly behind him. He was watching me as the healing waters tickled my skin.

"What happened?" I asked and placed my hand on his bare lap. My voice was guttural.

"The ritual is over. You are now crowned as Kings of Eli. I have brought you to my room to heal your tired bodies. Lusceviel is brought to his own room to rest. I will go there soon seeing that he usually goes into a tantrum if I am not found beside him when he wakes."

What have I done after being blessed? I do not remember much of it; actually, I don't want to remember any of it seeing that the others have done something extremely shameful.

Lucian hovered over my naked body and then slowly pressed his lips on top of my forehead before proceeding to kiss my cheek and then my lips in which I quickly responded to. It's not every day that you'll have the usually emotionless ancient to show affection.

I let my calloused hands roam around the ancient's smooth skin as we shared a kiss to cover up the years of being separated from each other. He was not only healing my exhausted physical state but he was unknowingly healing the emotional wreck that he left me at. I know that he will also do the same to the other four once they have gained consciousness so I felt no guilt in having Lucian all to myself before the time of noise and endless bickering came.

"I missed you dearly," I whispered after we broke the kiss that we shared.

As usual, I cannot read what his eyes were expressing so the excitement of knowing what he felt rose within me. He was really surrounded in mysteries and he had managed to keep me at the edge of my seat in anticipation of what emotion he would show next.

"And I longed for all of you," he replied with a quick and beautiful smile that flashed on his lips.

Beauty did not last, that I know. That was the very reason why Lucian kept on disappearing because he was a beautiful beautiful creature that was not meant to stay in one place with us for even a day.

It was really frustrating on how beautiful he was because we had to find him and chase him and attempt to make him stay for our sanity's sake.

So imagine my non-existent surprise when the pink-haired man that created a great fuss earlier appeared with a bolt of electricity and abducted Lucian leaving nothing but having all of us suddenly submerging beneath the waters because the ancient controlling it disappeared.

Yes, I cursed, Slade curse, Raphael almost cursed, Samael definitely cursed and Caleb spouted threatening and ridiculous ultimatum of his golden urine when it happened.

Old habits never die especially Lucian's.

And now I wonder if we will have another spark of fight between us and our son because he didn't find Lucian beside him.

"I'm pissing on all your graves!" Caleb cursed out loud.
