16: Kawaii Desu

They say that by nightfall came the dawn of ferocious and sanguinary beasts that possessed no clemency in chasing and murdering the innocent who slumbered deeply as the moon shone as their protector. But it would seem that the moon was no protector in the realm of Eli. Our moon existed not for bringing radiance to the darkest hours but rather it was meant to transmogrify a terrifying beast that haunted the people of Eli every night.

I do not understand why they viewed the beast as "haunting" and a complete "nightmare". I perceived the beast as a cute mutated creature that was only looking for love and affection. He was an adorable creature with sharp claws, spiky spines, sharp teeth that can maul even the toughest metal and the momentum to shred a living organism into ribbons in a second. He was marvelous.

"You really have a different definition of marvelous nephew," uncle commented.

"I could say the same for you, uncle. I commemorate you for your taste in women. I never knew that you are fond of hateful, paranoid, and Queens of rotting flesh. As long as you're happy, I will not interfere. The fangs of her striking beauty must have bit the sanity out of you at that time. Love is really blind. She didn't give you a black eye did she?"

"You're really never going to let that rest aren't you?"

I grinned which caught the attention of Caleb and Samael who were sitting beside me. As I grinned, I realized that bringing up my non compos mentis of an aunt was very insensitive of me. I was the reason why she became like that. If not for me, Uncle wouldn't have sacrificed himself to revive me. That tragedy was my entire fault.

"Nephew, never think that way. You cannot dictate how life goes. Life can either surpass your expectations or go to the lowest end of it to the point of reaching the highest frustration. It can give you the purpose to live or give you the reason to quit. It all depends on how a person handles the different situations. They can either let themselves fall or pick themselves up."

I smiled at uncle's beautiful words that showed how wise he was even when he no longer possessed a physical body. "Thank you uncle. I won't tease you with her anymore. Why don't we proceed with your complicated relationship with oniisan?"

I heard uncle take a strangled breath. "Your Majesty, King Caspian is beet red," I heard a female ancient giggle.

"Stop the lies! I am not!" Uncle violently denied further making the ancients within my head chuckle and giggle in amusement.

"Bae, why are you smilin'? Are you plannin' to sexually take advantage of my innocent soul?" Samael questioned playfully before shielding his chest like I was already taking sexual advances on him.

"You wish, Lucian won't take interest on you," Caleb snorted. Samael ignored the werewolf and started to stroke my exposed thigh. I was wearing another chiton that was especially made for a special occasion.

It was a long blue chiton that reached my ankles. It had two long slits that started from my waist down to the end which allowed for easy movement. Being naked for a long time, Luscev had a hard time putting me in clothes so the only solution he could find was making me wear the lightest clothing that can't even provide warmth.

I was comfortable in this material. My tooshie and ling can breathe.

"What's so funny anyway?" Samael resumed his question.

I blinked at him before answering. "I was talking to the voices in my head."

With those words, Samael and Caleb stared at each other in horror before they faced each other behind me. "I think my mate has gone crazy," Caleb whispered.

"We need Doctor Phil but at the same time, I don't want to call him because a crazy Lucian is hot," Samael whispered back.

"Yeah, I think so too!" Caleb agreed.

I heard uncle sigh inside my head. "You and your lovers are suited for each other."

We were all huddled in the dining room of the palace. It was the least extravagant room that I requested Luscev to create. We each had a white squared cushion under our buttocks and there was a long rectangular mahogany table in the middle of our discussing bodies.

"You're telling us that we aren't official Kings of Eli and that we have to pass a test?" Caleb asked and sipped on the small teacup that contained a newly boiled tea.

Luscev was not here with us and the ones explaining the mechanics of the test were Buck and Rui.

"That's right oniisan. The test is prepared by the Prince, your son," Buck confirmed.

I looked at their reactions regarding the fact that Luscev was their son and strangely, they look apathetic to it. Did they already know? Luscev must have introduced himself. That was unfortunate. I wanted to see their reactions. I was sure that most of them had violent feelings towards it and it was unfortunate that I wasn't there to threaten each and every one of them to adore Luscev as I have.

Samael took a sip of the tea himself and then his eyes widened before spitting a shower of the natural beverage at Raphael's face.

"I forgot I hated tea," he chuckled and then grabbed a can of coke, -which was a bubbly drink that I wasn't too fond off- from the middle of the table.

"You just realized that after spewing out your disgusting waste on my face?" Raphael gritted and took the towel which Rui generously handed over.

The reaper shrugged beside me and took a swig before letting out a satisfied breath. "That's a necessary ritual before we can accept you to the dark side."

I looked up at Samael's stylish hair and noted that his peachy red hair that I adored was now pitch black. I placed my hand on the top of his head gaining the reaper's attention and he grinned at me.

"The dye will come off after a month."

"I do not like it," I deadpanned. "You are undesirable in this color."

Samael flinched and placed his hand on his chest. "That really hurt bae!"

"This is the reason why I kept everything natural," Sevor boasted and took a chomp on the freshly served raw meat.

"That's because you didn't bother fixin'yourself up and let yourself rot alive you twat. Would it kill you scrub the nits off your balls once in a while before continuing hibernation?" Samael spat.

"Who gives a fuck about bathing during hibernation?" Slade argued.

"You smelled like a catastrophe when you first arrived. Your scent was like a washed out fish that was left in the beach for a week and blue cheese," Caleb added.

Sevor placed a hand on Slade's shoulder who was about to lash out. "You're fighting a losing battle Slade. Just accept defeat."

"Yes and Peaches, do not dye your hair black anymore, It reminds me of Slade's genital bush," I stated which caused the whole table to rattle from chortles and violent slams from Slade.

"Why am I getting attacked here? Sevor and I possessed the same things!" he growled.

"But I trimmed it fair and squared while you kept it in afro style," Sevor pointed out which only aggravated the humor bone of everyone in this table.

I noticed that Samael was in a state of shock because I have compared the color of his hair to Slade's genital bush. It must be said so that he will learn not to devastate the beauty of his hair's natural color.

Caleb stood up and cleared his throat. We thought that he was going to say something extremely serious and that we should cut off this ridiculous conversation but what he did confused me and made the four throw all the things from the table at him.

"Want to have your 70s bush to be like they used to be before having to mow the lawn because of society's judgment? Do you want them to be bouncy and soft as you bang against your man? Well worry not because Le Bush is here to end your fears! End split ends and bend the trend for Holiday's price of $5.50. PromoRunsUntilDecember30only."

"Oh shut up!" the four growled.

"Lucian, they're being mean to me~"Caleb cried and dove on my lap for protection.

The test was nearing its commencement. The red moon brought a crimson radiance to the skies and below. I trust that the five will pass this test that Luscev had prepared for them. Rui and Buck weren't able to discuss the technicalities thoroughly because of how childish the five were so they ended the discussion with:

"Just don't kill them. Fight them and bring them to their knees but don't ever kill them."

We were in the circular arena made of black marble located just at the lower land at the other side of the palace. We had passed through the bridge earlier than the audiences which were the citizens of Eli. The land where the arena stood was just the perfect size and the griffins that usually lurk below the base of the castle stood on the rim of the arena to witness the ordeal.

The battle ground of the arena was structured into a maze. There were six entrances to the place and the five were separated from each other. They shall fight their way through the maze until they reach the biggest area where they will face the finale of the test. There were manholes scattered throughout the arena where their enemies will emerge and they were allowed to use any weapon they desired.

I sat on the floating transparent platform above the battle ground with Rui and Buck behind me. Rui took a deep breath to start the speech for this event. It was supposed to be my responsibility but I had no interest in making long speeches that people will eventually forget. They were excited for the battle to begin and I doubt that their adrenaline was making it easy for them to listen.

So yes, Rui was somewhat wasting saliva, breath, and effort.

"Citizens of Eli, this is a tremendous night for all us even under the remorseless cursed moon that dropped the vicious beast that patronized our streets at twilight. This event shall be written in the books that will teach our young ones about our astounding history of the arrival of the men whom we thought will never appear. Earlier today you have seen the five men who arrived in our sanctuary. They are the men who I, one of the generals of the royal knights, truly admire for their strength, wisdom, leadership and righteousness. They are one of the few men from the Ancient Era that survived up until now. With the love of the King to the land of Eli and to its people, with the loyalty and ruling of Prince Lusceviel to the citizens, this event is held to see if these five men are really suited to rein this land together with his Majesty King Lucian and with his highness Prince Lusceviel-"

I elbowed Rui's shin that caused him to choke while speaking just so he can get to the point.

"Let the test begin!" Rui wheezed out which caused the audience to shout in excitement.

A fully transformed crimson dragon swirled around the arena to emit a thundering earsplitting growl. The five sprinted taking lefts and rights and frequently ended up in a dead end which always caused Slade to hit the marbled wall in frustration. The first batches of enemies that they faced were the Satyr soldiers. I watched Raphael take them down gracefully one by one by jumping over them and immediately hitting the back of their necks with the side of his hand. Slade was more aggressive with his approach and smashed one Satyr to another and throwing them to the other side of the wall.

"Graaaaaah!" Slade snarled after defeating one last Satyr which stimulated the audience to snarl with him.

"The dragon is layin' eggs! Give em some space!" I heard Samael laugh hysterically. The reaper was already done piling up the unconscious Satyrs. He was the first one to finish the first batch and Sevor and Caleb were the last.

The second batch was a group of Orthrus; two headed dogs that were smaller compared to Fenris.

All it took for Caleb was to growl dominatingly which caused the dogs to whimper and cower back to the manhole and the audience to cheer with awe. Just the same, all of them were able to defeat the second batch with no difficulty.

"They are amazing!" Buck cheered and began to punch the air.

"What do you expect? These are the five legends of the Ancient Era," Rui spoke with pride.

The third batch was composed of Cyclops that stood at 15 feet. It didn't take a minute for them to take them down. Samael aimed for the eye which was an immediate knockdown; Raphael just sauntered and flied around the enemy while he froze it; Slade met the Cyclops head on and hit the eye with his head; Caleb swiftly gave the creature powerful kicks which showed the werewolf's incredible leg strength and Sevor trapped his own enemy in fire which left the cyclops no choice but to retreat to the manhole.

The fourth batch was composed of creatures that I designed myself. Their exterior and interior can never be pierced by any weapon. They can never be harmed by any element except for ice and they can never be destroyed by any vicious strength. They were called:

"Blecko Blecko Blecko!" a green bouncy jelly formed into a shape of legless frogs hopped out of the manhole. Their flattened tails flapped with their eyes narrowed and readied for battle.

The five had to take a moment to wait for more enemies to come out from the manhole but when there weren't any ferocious creatures charging out, they had to look at us for guidance.

"What's going on?!" Samael asked. "Look at this thing it's too adorable. Are you sure they should be in this bloody battle?"

"Aww, it's so cute!" Caleb cooed and his hand began to extend forward to pet the five feet tall creature.

Fools. They should not have underestimated the power of the Blecko.

The green jelly-like creature bit Caleb's hand which caused the werewolf to shriek and to run around like a headless chicken while trying to pry the offending blecko off of him.

"It's sucking me off!" Caleb screamed and then lowered his hand and kicked the blecko only for him to scream again because of the creature's hardened skin which clearly broke a bone or two when he kicked it. The blecko flipped away and glared at the werewolf menacingly.

Yes, be afraid, be very afraid.

"Blecko Blecko Blecko!" out with the battlecry.

The twins' arms mutated into their hardened dragon skin and the two moved in unison as they attacked their own enemy. They moved alike even when they were separated and they yelled in pain from the impact of their first attack to the blecko's indestructible exterior.

"I applaud you for creating such a tricky enemy nephew," uncle praised.

"Thank you uncle, even the calculated Sevor, the wise Caleb and the sly Samael won't get this enemy's weakness that quickly."

With every furious and vigorous attack, the blecko's exterior got strengthened and more indestructible that left Samael scratching the back of his head; Caleb on his knees; Slade in a growling mess and Sevor in thinking mode.

For Raphael, the angel was lucky to have the ability of ice so this was a sure win for him. It was unfortunate that they could not help each other physically not until the last round which was the finale. The blecko was immune to fire but weak to ice. Physical violence was obviously not effective but it was only a matter of time before they figure out how to defeat the creature.

I watched Sevor stare at the Blecko. All of them were beaten up except for Raphael who was already waiting at the gate for the final round. He had obviously impressed everyone. This round was in favor of him only. Actually, all of them were no match for the blecko.

Why?

"Because they are the most powerful creatures to live," Uncle answered.

While the blecko waited for any attack, it agitated itself by jumping and spinning around when a part of it liquefied which seemed to give Sevor an idea.

Sevor spoke to the jelly in a low tone so it was impossible for us to hear him. We relied on his movement. He raised his hands in defeat and the blecko looked at him less aggressively. Sevor knelt and then bowed his head to the ground and the blecko hopped cautiously. The older dragon twin slowly raised his hand and gradually and gently gave the blecko a feather-like touch that made the blecko relax, close its eyes and quickly melt into a puddle of liquid.

"Don't hurt it! Give it the softest touch!" Sevor advised the others as he sprinted to the gate where Raphael was waiting.

"It took them almost an hour to figure that out," Rui sighed.

"I wouldn't have figured it out if I was in their place," Buck defended.

"The strongest men do have the capabilities to defeat most enemies but there are also a few things that only the weak can handle and the strong cannot do," I stated and watched with amusement as Caleb shifted into Fenris and Fenris looked away while using his soft paw to do what Sevor advised them.

Before Fenris could jump away from giving the blecko the slightest touch, the creature already melted and Fenris ran around the puddle in joy.

Samael squatted in front of the blecko and gave it the softest caress and the blecko became goeey and melted.

The last one who hadn't defeated the blecko was Slade who was having a difficult time in believing that the softest touch can make the blecko lose.

It was expected.

"I'm not believing that shit!" Slade yelled in defiance and was still in the stance of attacking the creature.

"Just do it you idiot!" Caleb spat.

Slade scratched the back of his head in irritation and took a deep breath as if he was trying to digest every punch and kick that he wanted to give the blecko.

He ended up puking them when he charged ahead and the blecko leaped to meet him head on and used its tail to slap Slade back to where he stood before.

That slapped must have snapped the last straw for Slade and I expected him to attack again and make this night longer but he took deep breaths, rose up on his feet, walked stiffly and bent down. The blecko glared at him and was waiting for an attack but the younger twin shakily placed a hand on top of its head.

"You teach the proudest men modesty. I am impressed," uncle stated.

The crowd died down a little during the fourth round but when Slade finally defeated the last blecko and all of them were finally at the gate, their cheering intensified. The gate was pulled up and the five of them entered. The biggest area of the battle ground had closed bars that clawed the soil.

I stood up from the platform and stepped down. Glassy structures hardened as they caught me descending and they disappear as my weight was lifted from them. The five stared at me with confusion. They must be questioning why I was here.

"I would like to introduce your last opponent," I spoke.

The metal bars were pulled up and the sound of reeling chains can be heard throughout the arena. Everyone was eerily quiet. They waited. They waited for the creature that haunted them every night. They waited for the murderous and merciless creature that was voided from emotions that could have continued splattering blood if I hadn't controlled it.

Heavy huffs can be heard from inside. The shadows tried to cover up the creature from the final show as if to protect everyone from seeing it. As it stepped out, the dark shades weren't able to hide the beast that everyone feared of until now. He had an elongated face of a wolf with dark scales of a dragon which served as his skin. He had two pointed horns between his ears and his eyes were in deep vermillion color. Two diverse wings were spread out behind him. One blue feathery wing was similar to Raphael's and one was a batwing similar to Samael's. He had a long spiky tail and feet which was comparable to a humanoid dragon. His claws were hook-like.

"Who the hell slept around like a hoe of the century and gave birth to that?!" Samael asked and pointed at the beast.

I was supposed to raise my hand to answer Samael's question but the adorable creature beside me stomped on his feet and then growled at those who helped me create him.

"I would like to introduce to you to Kawaii Desu. He is your final opponent."
