E L E V E N
I have been sitting here for three hours... Still singing. "Cole's bringing sexy back, yeah! oh wait he's already done that, yeah!" I sang in the tune of 'Sexy Back' by Justin Timberlake. Even when I'm mad, I can only think about how attractive Cole is. I'm pathetic.
There's a knock on my door and I sit up from my laying position that I was in. "Yeah?" I call out to whoever is on the other side.
My door opens and in comes Jake. "Hey." He greets, walking towards me, turning off the music and then sits on the end of my bed. I watch him cautiously as he does all this.
This is weird.
I raise an eyebrow and look up and down between him and my bed. "Uh, what are you doing in here?" I ask, extremely confused. Jake rarely comes in my room. The only time he does is when he is sneaking out and needs a cover or money. Yup, he's smooches off of people.
He lays a hand over his heart and fakes a look of hurt. "I can't just come to say hello to my sister?" He definitely wants something.
Shrugging, I give him a disbelieving look. "You haven't before..." I mumbled. He stands up and walks to the opposite side of my bed, then sits down with his back rested against the headboard. "Comfortable?" I ask with an amused expression. I copy the position he's in.
He nods. "So... Why does Cole look like shit?" So that's why he's up here. Everyone just needs to mind their own business. What goes on between Cole and I, is only between him. With Jack, Jake, Cara, and even Molly putting their noses in our business is making me upset. If they only knew what was really going on...
'That's impossible...' I thought in my head. Seriously, Cole always looks good. "Perhaps he's tired." It's partly true...
He rolls his eyes and gives me a 'do-I-look-stupid' look. Frankly, I'd say he does look stupid but whatever. "Diana, I'm not stupid. Did you guys break up?"
Why do people assume this all the time?! "We weren't dating."
He huffs. "Seems to me you are." He's just asking for me to slap him.
"Well we aren't." I snapped at him. He can be so annoying at times. Scratch that, he's annoying all the time.
Trust me, if Cole didn't have as much baggage as he does, I most likely would have said yes. It's just the fact that he is in a gang. The last thing I need is to be in a relationship and then worry about if the person I'm dating is going to die or night. I guess either way I care...
He raises an eyebrow and smirks. "Then why were you singing about his 'sexy' muscles?" I blush, he heard me! How embarrassing...
"I was not!" I hit his arm and he laughs. "Gosh, you're so annoying!"
"Why don't we get out of here today?" He suggests.
I raise an eyebrow at him. "It's," I look at the clock on my side table. "two am, dad would be pissed." I tell him.
He shrugged and waved it off. "Nothing new, so what do you say?"
"Where would we go?"
"There's a party at this guy, Tony's. So get dressed because we're leaving in ten minutes." He demands as he walks out of my room. Who the hell has a party at two am on a Tuesday, well now Wednesday? College kids...
I put on a pair of black skinny jeans with a basic white V-neck t-shirt and then my converse. Yeah, I don't really like dressing up. After I finished I go downstairs and see Jake waiting by the door for me. Cole is sitting on the couch looking confused. "Where are you going?" Cole asks as he starts to walk towards me.
"Jake and I are going to a party." I say to him.
"What? Why now, it's like two am." We've covered the time enough...
I roll my eyes. "Your point?" I'm annoyed with him so I make no effort to drop the attitude I'm giving him. He deserves it.
He's taken back my attitude towards him and his face turns to annoyance. "Bye." He says coldly.
I folly my eyes and grab Jake's arm. "Let's go." I say while leading him out the door. We get into his car and drive away.
"Nothing going on between you and Cole, huh?" He says smugly.
"Drop it." I snap at him. I've been doing that a lot lately...
"You need to calm down." He tells me. Oh you never tell a girl that...
We arrive at Tony's house, which is packed with people. This is way bigger and louder than any other high school party I've been to. Those don't even begin to compare to this. People cover the grass, the driveway, walkway, everywhere.
I walk up the stairs to the house, following behind Jake. When we enter the house, I'm hit with the loud bass of a song I've never heard before. This house is gigantic, almost mansion like but a bit smaller. "Come on!" Jake shouts over the loud music and grabbing my hand, leading me to the kitchen.
He releases my hand and grabs a beer and then hands me a... Water. The asshole brought me here to be a designated driver. "Are you serious?" I say while glaring at him.
He smirks. "You didn't want your poor brother driving drunk, now did you?" At this point I wouldn't care if he was crushed by an elephant.
I huff and take the water. "I can't believe you."
He just shrugs and pulls out his keys from his pocket and then hands them to me. "Don't lose those. I'll be around, enjoy yourself and that water." And with that he's gone, probably already flirting with some girl.
I feel my phone vibrate and see that I have a text from Cole. What the hell, he changed his name in my phone.
From: Cole <3
Time: 2:37 am
Call me? I'm sorry :(
I roll my eyes and decide to ignore the text, sliding my phone back into my pocket.
I groan and open the water, taking a large drink. Maybe a little too large because I ended up spitting most of it out on my shirt; my white shirt, with my black bra. FML, FML, FML, FML.
"The water is supposed to go in your mouth." I lift my head up to see some guy smirking at me while leaning against the door frame.
I roll my eyes and grab he random dish cloth that was on the counter and begin to dry my shirt off with it. "That's for the advice." I mutter sarcastically.
He chuckles and walks a couple steps towards me. "I'm Chris." He introduces.
"Cool." I say, totally blowing him off. Excuse me if I'm not in the mood to talk, today is just not my day.
"What's yours?" He asks, obviously not getting the hint that I don't feel like talking. I feel like all cocky guys don't get hints or anything suggesting that you would rather poke your eye out then talk to them.
"Listen, I'm really not in the mood to talk." I tell him.
"I can tell. What's bothering you?" He asks.
"Lots of things." I mutter.
"Those things being?"
I raise an eyebrow. "Now why would I tell you anything? I don't know you."
"Yes you do, I'm Chris. I already said this." He states with a lazy grin.
I roll my eyes. "Why don't you run along? I'm not in the mood to be bothered."
"Come on, it's not like you're going to see me again. Just spit it out."
"Why do you want to know so badly?"
He shrugs. "I'm a helpful person, and you look like you need to vent. I can help with that." He says simply.
I sigh. "It's a long story, too long."
"I'm here all night, and by the looks of it, so are you." He takes a seat at the kitchen table and pats the chair besides him, telling me to sit. "So how about it?" I walk over and take a seat. "See, that wasn't so hard. Now what's wrong?"
"Lots of things."
He rolls his eyes. "Obviously, now be specific."
"Well this guy has... Baggage. And I can't help but want to help him out. Anyway, I've found myself falling for him and he told me he feels the same way." I start, not knowing why I'm actually telling him this.
He nods. "So what's the problem?"
"The baggage part." I say, not wanting to go into details about it.
"Is it bad?"
I nod. "Unfortunately."
He sighs. "Well you have two options. One is that you stick with him. The other being you drop his ass."
I glared at him. "Did I mention that you give great advice?" I tell him sarcastically.
He chuckles and shrugs. "What can I say? It's a gift." I laugh, despite my terrible mood. "So, care to share your name now?"
"Diana Slaven."
He raises an eyebrow. "Jake Slaven's sister?"
I nod. "Unfortunately, he brought me here just so I could drive him home."
"Well Diana, your brother hates me and I know a perfect way to piss him off." He says with a smirk and hint of amusement in his eyes. "Come on." He sticks his hand out for me to take and I look at it like a disease, what is he going to do? "I don't bite," He says.
I folly my eyes and take his hand. He leads me out into the crowd of people dancing... Well more like grinding and having dry sex... College kids...
Chris places his hands on my waist, causing me to jump from the unexpected touch. I couldn't hear him, but saw the movements of him chuckling. He leaned in close to my ear. "I'm just dancing with you, calm down." He says loudly. Once again, his hands are on my waist and I put my arms around his neck.
We start to sway back and forth to the music that's playing, he leans his forehead down to meet mine as we continue to dance.
Even if I try to forget Cole, it never works. Not even for a minute. It doesn't feel as nice dancing with Chris as it does when I'm with Cole. I feel guilty for how I treated him earlier. I know I overreacted but with so much going on right now, I just snapped.
I was about to pull out of Chris' grasp, but someone did before I could. "What the hell are you doing?!" Jake shouts at Chris as he shoves his chest.
"Jake, we were just dancing." I tell him, his glare stays on Chris as I speak. "Come on let's-" I got cut off, what's new. But this time, it wasn't by the person I was actually talking to... No, way worse. It was the police.
"If you are under 21 years old, stay where you're standing." The officer demanded.
We're all drinking illegally, does he really think we're not going to try and escape?
As soon as the words left his mouth, people started jumping out the window or going through the backdoor. Jake grabbed my hand and started pulling me through the crowd that was trying to escape also. Luck was, and never is, on our side so we ended up actually bumping into a police officer.
FML FML FML FML FML FML FML FML
"You three, you're coming with me." The police officer said as he started taking us outside.
Wait, three?
I look behind me and see Chris, he also got caught.
This is just great.
We all sit in the back of the police car. I'm in the middle while Chris and Jake are on either side of me. I sigh as the car drives on. Dad is going to murder Jake and I.
A hour later, I'm sitting down with Chris and Jake... Behind bars. Apparently no one else but us three got caught. Did I mention I have terrible luck?
I should feel totally bad ass, I mean, I'm in jail. But, I feel guilty and I didn't even do anything wrong. I could never make it as a criminal, I'd go crazy... Crazier than Mona in Pretty Little Liars. Oh my gosh, I need to get out of here.
"This never would have happened if you didn't bring me here." I hiss at Jake.
He rolls his eyes. "You came willingly,"
I groan. "Because I thought I was actually going to party!"
"Doesn't matter anymore, does it?" He irritably asks. Jeeze.
"Dad is going to kill us," I say more to myself.
I can see everything that's going to happen. Dad will bail us out, we go home, he gives us a speech about not getting sent to jail because it looks bad on a college application, well I'll get that speech. Jake's will probably be along the lines of, 'If this happens again, I'm letting them keep you.' I'll end up grounded till I'm thirty; Cole will be sent home and end up being attacked by gang members. Yup, that's how this is all gonna go down.
"No shit," Jake mutters, knowing exactly what dad's going to say.
I look around in the 'cage' we've been put in. There are seven other men in here that all look like they can eat Jake, Chris, and I all at the same time. With beards down their chest and tattoos scattered on their bodies, I can only pray for my life now. Or, I can do the idiotic thing and start a conversation with them since I am in face an idiot.
"So, what are you guys in here for?" I ask them far too casually. Jake and Chris both give me a 'what the fuck are you doing' kind of look.
The guy with a jean jacket vest and too tight pants smirks at me, making me squirm in my seat. "Killed a jackass who stole my beer." Oh shit. "How about you, sweetheart?"
I gulp. "I'm here with them because they were caught drinking..." I whisper. Both Jake and Chris blush furiously, obviously embarrassed.
Scary jean jacket guy bursts out laughing, and I can't help but snicker. "You hear that, Jim? Underage drinking!" He exclaims to the man next to him, a.k.a., Jim. Jim also bursts into a fit of laughter.
"It isn't that funny..." Chris mutters under his breath.
Jean jacket man quickly sobers up and takes a threatening step toward Chris. "I thought it was pretty funny." He says.
Chris nods frantically. "H-h-hilarious," He stutters, obviously scared shitless.
Jean jacket man bursts out into laughter again. "Grow some balls, boy!" He says to Chris through his laughter.
Chris stands up. "What did you say to me?"
Jean jacket man pats his shoulder and shakes his head, still laughing. "Don't grow some balls around me, I'll kick your ass and feed it to Jim."
Chris sits down again, muttering the fact that he does have balls... Ok, Chris, whatever you say.
"What's your name?" Jim asks, still amused.
"Diana," I tell him.
"Shut up, they could kill you!" Jake hisses at me.
I roll my eyes and look back at Jean Jacket Man and Jim. "What's yours?" I ask Jean Jacket Man.
"Allen."
I smile sweetly. "Nice to meet you, Allen. This here is Jake, my brother-" I say patting Jake's shoulder- "and that is Chris." I point to him.
Just as Allen was about to say something, the most terrifying sound I've ever heard in my life went through my ears. I might as well shoot myself now. Why is this happening?! "Diana, Jake!" My... Mother *cough cough* whore, screeches as she runs in her black heels towards our cell.
Jake's eyes go wide. "What the hell are you doing here?" He hisses at her as he strides over to meet her.
"I got a call, why the hell are you in here?!" Now the bitch wants to act like a mom.
"Dad would have come to get us," He said, still glaring at her.
I walked up from behind him then stood aside him. "Just go, we'll call dad." I say, trying to keep my cool.
"I'm your mother; I have just as much right as your father."
I roll my eyes. "You gave that right up the second you walked out our door."
She glares at me. "Don't talk to me like that,"
"Officer! You've let a criminal in here!" Jake yells out loud, I try and hide my laugh while my mom is obviously not amused.
One of the officer's come over and looks questions between the three of us. "What's going on?"
"This women," Jake points to my 'mom', "is not our legal guardian. Our dad is."
The officer looks at my mom. "Ma'am you're going to have to go if you're technically not allowed to make legal decisions."
"No! I'm their mother, I have every right!"
"Dad got full custody," I remind her.
"I'm not asking, I'm telling you that you need to leave." The officer says once again to her.
She huffs but walks quickly out the door, obviously embarrassed.
Wow, haven't seen my mom in like five years and when I do, I'm in jail.
It's been like three hours and it's now 5 am... Has my dad even been notified?! I got my answer when I see Jack and Cole storm in. "What the hell?!" Cole exclaims as him and Jack quickly walks to the cells.
This truly feels like I'm in jail with all the people that have come and 'visit'. What next? My one phone call? Scratch that, Jake already took it.
"Oh, uh, hi." I say awkwardly while walking to meet him.
"Who knew that you would be in jail before I do." Cole says, scoffing. So the rumors aren't true...
I roll my eyes. "Where's my dad?" I ask, disregarding what he said before.
"Lisa's," he says simply.
"We bailed you out," Jack suddenly cuts in.
I look towards him and sigh in relief. "Seriously?" I wonder what the cost was...
"Let's just say, your owe us $500." Cole says with a smirk. "Well, I know a way you can repay me." Cole smugly continues.
Jack hits his shoulder while I glare at him. "Diana won't be repaying you at all," Jake comes into the conversation.
"Hey wait, how the hell am I gonna get out?" Chris questions.
I turn towards him and shrug. "I'm sure someone will bail you out,"
"Who's that?" Cole asks, his eyebrows coming together.
"Chris,"
He rolls his eyes. "Thanks that explains so much."
"I know," I smile overly sweet and he just glares.
Three hours later, we're home... Not including my dad. I can say that Lisa is officially the best thing that ever happened to my dad. If he found out, then I'd be grounded, Jake would be dead, he'd adopt Jack, and Cole would... Well, I don't know what would happen to Cole but something over dramatic would happen.
I go to my room and fall on the bed, hearing a chuckle from behind me. "Tired, cupcake?" Cole asks, I can hear the smirk in his voice.
I lift my head up slightly so he can actually understand what I'm saying. "I feel like death,"
"So you really think I'm sexy?" Oh my gosh, he heard... I bury my face, not wanting him to see my blush. He chuckles. "I think you're sexy too, Diana."
Can my cheeks burn anymore?! "Go to bed," I murmur while getting under the blanket.
"Cupcake, it's eight am, I've slept."
"Then shut up so I can sleep."
"Alright, see you when you wake up." I feel a kiss on my cheek and then my door closes.
I'm probably as bright as a tomato. What an interesting day I've had so far...
