Twenty Three
They’d been there for one week. One whole week and Jungkook was ready to go back. It was one week being apart from his mate, one week from his pack, one week from his home.
It was one week into the hellish lifestyle humans loved. How could they stand the constant noise, the terrible smells, the crowded places? He couldn’t understand how humans could enjoy the bland concrete, no trees in sight, the bright, flashing lights that always seemed to temporarily blind you.
And during the night. There were never any stars in the sky. Jungkook couldn’t ever see them, no matter how hard he strained his eyes, no matter how tall of a tree he climbed near his temporary home.
He couldn’t see a single one, and it just reminded him how far he was from home.
He wanted to go home.
Jimin seemed mellow with this feeling as well. The two wolves were both homesick, but they knew that they couldn’t go anywhere near home, it wasn’t safe. Because no matter how horrible living in the human world was, with the loud noises, starless nights, crowded space…
It was better than what Jungkook might have to live through if he were to have stayed home.
So Jungkook and Jimin stayed, clinging on to the thought of seeing their home once again someday.
Seng was a lot of help, getting them to assimilate into human culture. He introduced them to a bunch of his friends, he showed them nice hang out places, where to get food, how to use the subway and everything else they might’ve needed help with.
The human was often over at their house, teaching them something new, or learning something new about their world. After the initial fear had dissipated within him, he’d become curious about the two wolves and their pack and their daily lives.
It wasn’t unheard of for a human to know about them, and the two didn’t have to keep it a secret, so they were pretty open with the human about most things.
Jungkook learned a lot about Seng as well. His family, his upbringing, his personality. Seng was a natural flirt. He didn’t mean any harm by it, and he was actually really nice and playful once you got to get to know him. Jimin even warmed up to him after awhile, and stopped being so passive aggressively mean to the human.
“So.” Seng began, one day. They were all sitting in a clearing, deep in the small forest that the two wolves lived in. “You bite each other on the necks and it opens a...bond?”
“Mhmm.” Jungkook nodded, but then paused. “Well, most of the time, when you’re mated to an alpha, only they bite you. Since I’m an omega, I should’ve been the only one bitten, whether I’d mated a beta or an alpha.”
“But your mate let you.”
“Seokie is the best! I can’t wait for you to meet him. He’s so sweet and kind and—“
“Kook, he’ll probably eat Seng for being close to you.” Jimin dead toned. He turned to Seng, who’d gone a little pale at the news. “Alphas, especially true bloods, are very protective over their mates. If Hoseok had been here, he would’ve bitten your head off the first time you even so much as glanced Jungkookie’s way.”
“O-oh. Yeah, I think I’ll pass on meeting him—“
“Nonsense! Sengie Hyung is a friend! Seokie would never eat a friend!”
“Okay.” Jimin rolled his eyes.
“Anyway.” Jungkook huffed. “A bond is formed after the biting and the mating ritual is completed.”
“There’s more? I thought it was just a bite?”
“Oh god no. It would hurt like a bitch if we just bit each other. The mating ritual is to, a, make sure we don’t die of pain and b, to make it more intimate.” Jimin added.
“How so?” Jimin smirked at the human.
“The mating ritual is sex.” He began, a wicked little grin gracing his features. Seng blushed a deep red. “You fuck all night, and when you’re about to have the most mind blowing orgasm of your life—“
“Jiminie!”
“—you bite each other and the most mind blowing orgasm of your life becomes ten times better.” The beta finished. “Namjoonie was the best, his di—“
“Moving on!” Jungkook butted in. He sent Jimin a dirty look, about to continue speaking, when he suddenly got really pale.
“Uh...are you okay, Kook?” Seng asked gently. The omega nodded his head, but then quickly got up and dashed into the forest, hurling his guts up. Jimin ran after him, gagging a little at the smell, rubbing the omega’s back comfortingly.
“I think we should head back. Jungkookie might have caught a fever. Are you stopping by tomorrow?”
“Yeah...give me a call if he’s sick, I’ll bring some stuff.”
“Thanks.”
