Twenty Eight
Jungkook and Hoseok’s reunion was short lived.
Howls sounded through the woods, and Jimin quickly ushered all of them inside.
“What’s going on?” Jimin demanded. Namjoon shook his head.
“It’s bad. They attack randomly, and in few. They’re eating our numbers down day by day, trying to weaken us. Hoseok and I have taken over for the time being since Alpha Jeon was injured after alpha Lee attacked him when the met. We’ve been trying to stay organized, but it’s hard when every single one of our patrols comes back with at least one injury, and they’re starting to attack some of the outer cabins of the pack, attacking omegas and betas.”
“They’re not going to play fair, they never will.”
“There’s been another attack. That’s what the howls are for. We’re...we’re waiting for a large scale attack. We can feel one coming soon. So far it’s only been parties of three or four, coming in and injuring as many as they can before getting out, a fast in and out, hard to track and hard to chase after. But we know that once they weaken us enough, they’re going to launch a full on attack.
“And it's working.” Jin added. “We have so many with injuries, small enough to continue functioning and non life threatening, but bad enough where if it came down to a fight, we are majorly disadvantaged.”
“So what are you planning on doing?”
“Well have to attack first. We’ve already contacted the council about this as well, but you know how long it’ll take to come to an agreement on a meeting. The war will be over by then. Either our pack will be annihilated or their pack will keep attacking until there is nothing left of them.”
“This is bad.”
“Everything about this is bad! We’re grasping everything we can right now, but we’re only trying to ensure the survival of our pack and the safety of all the wolves in it. But it’s hard when the other pack just wants to kill us all, and they don’t care who they are, child, omega, beta, alpha, whatever.”
Jungkook bit his bottom lip, a whine for big in the back of his throat. He turned and buried his nose into Hoseok’s neck, drinking up his mate’s scent, his omega calming itself from it.
Hoseok held Jungkook close, kissing the top of his head.
A wolf suddenly ran inside, panting. He whispered something furiously into Namjoon’s ear, whose face darkened. He turned to the others. “Yoongi, take Jimin and Jungkook and hide them.”
“W-What? What’s going on?” Jungkook asked, looking around frantically, wanting to know what was going on. Hoseok leaned down and attached his lips to his mate.
“Angel. Please, just go with Yoongi, Okay? Be safe. I love you.”
“S-Seokie—“
“Go on.” Hoseok gently urged. Jungkook shook his head, but Jimin grabbed onto him, pulling him along as Yoongi led them down a hall. The omega whimpered, reaching for his mate, but Hoseok merely shook his head, knowing that they couldn’t be together right now. It was too dangerous for Jungkook to be with him, not when they were both targets of Blue Lily.
The true blood had more to protect now, too. More than just a pack he was to lead one day. He had his mate, his future family to think about.
And he wouldn’t let them down.
-
Jungkook ran down the hall, following Yoongi as the other omega ushered them to hurry.
They made it to a back doe in the kitchens, Yoongi peeking his head out. “Okay, we have to go to the nursery. That’s where we’ve all been hiding, the omega’s and pups and such.”
“B-But they’re looking for m-me. Won’t it put them in more danger?” Jungkook whispered.
“It’ll be harder to smell you, and it’s not like we’ll all go down without a fight, right?” Yoongi grinned at Jungkook, who nodded. “Now, when I signal, I want you to run. I want you to run as fast as you can, and get into that nursery. Do not look behind you, no matter what.” Jungkook nodded shakily.
The omega turned his attention to the nursery, seeing nothing but the expanse of woods ad the abandoned village.
His breathing quickened, his pupils dilated with fear and adrenaline coursing through his system. He crouched down, preparing to make a run for it.
But howls filled the air and all three wolves at the door tensed, lifting their noses in the air to smell.
It wasn’t the scent of their pack wolves that filled the air. “Shit! Shit shit shit!” Yoongi hissed. “They’re going to see us, they were closer than we thought!” Yoongi pulled Jimin and Jungkook inside the house once more, slamming the door shut. “They’re going to see us if we make a run for the nursery.
“W-What do we do?”
“We have to hide in the house. This will be the second most secure place. Most of the pack warriors will be at the nursery, guarding it, but the rest will most likely be here, because we’re keeping our injured here.”
“Where do we hide?”
“We’ll have to find some place.” Yoongi cursed softly under his breath, his eyes darting to a window across from them.
Just in time to see a wolf charging straight at them from the other side. “Shit! Run!” Yoongi pushed the two wolves in front of him as they ran down the hall. They ran up the stairs to the second floor of the pack house and entered a random room, barricading themselves inside.
“He saw us. He’ll report back that Jungkook’s here.” Yoongi hissed. “They’re going to come for us, full front.”
“What do we do?”
“We have to keep him hidden, protect him….” Yoongi trailed off. “They’re more likely to smell out three of us. Here.” Yoongi gently grabbed Jungkook, running his wrists across the omega’s scent glands. Jimin, you too. Jungkookie, can you scent us? Please?”
“W-Why?”
“They’ll smell you. I’m an omega, it might be more believable than Jimin, but it’s worth a shot. Confuse them.” Jungkook nodded and he scented the two wolves, covering their own scents with his own.
“I need you to stay here for me, Okay Kookie?”
“Y-you’re leaving?” Jungkook asked, growing panicked now. He didn’t think they would leave him alone!
“We have to, throw off their trail for you. I’m sorry. Can you be brave for me, Kookie?” Jimin whispered. “Be a brave omega for me? For Hoseok?”
Jungkook nodded shakily, not wanting them to go. But they did anyway.
They threw open the door they were hiding behind and shut it firmly, before taking off. There were Blue Lily wolves in the house, destroying things, fighting some of the warriors from Red Lotus.
Yoongi and Jimin branched off, running as fast as they could as wolves started to take chase, following Jungkook’s scent that was all over them.
They ran and ran, trying to throw them off, trying to lead them to Red Lotus warriors, trying to trick them. They knew this plan would only last for so long, but they could only try. They had to.
Nothing could befall Jungkook, their precious omega, their precious baby of the pack.
They couldn’t let him fall into the hands of these cruel wolves who would use and exploit him for their own gain and pleasure. It was sickening.
But little did they know, running around, that all their efforts were in vain.
For there was one wolf in particular, who sensed the trickery.
The head alpha’s son.
Alpha Lee Doyoung, as ruthless and cruel as his father, the one Jungkook would be promised to, if he had been handed over to the Blue Lily pack.
He stopped giving chase to the fake omega, turning his head and sniffing the air.
He stalked forward, walking down the halls, being silent, tracking down his prey.
The omega was his. The beautiful, pure little omega was his, and he wouldn’t let anyone stand in his way. He would kill the true blood, kill the omega’s father, kill his friends and family if they stood in his way.
He slowly pushed open a door, looking inside, a smile etched into his features as the strong odor of a distressed omega hit him. He slowly stalked to the closet door, opening it slowly.
“Found you, little omega.”
