I woke up to the sun streaming through the windows and into my eyes. I pulled the blanket over my head and turned in my bed grumbling. My eyes flicked open when I realized how late into the morning it actually was. I sat up quickly causing the blanket to fly off the bed. "I'm gonna be late!" I exclaimed and tried to get out of bed a little to quickly. My foot got wrapped into the blanket on the ground, and I fell on my face onto the hard floor. "Ouch." I mumbled. "No time for pain." I grabbed and outfit and laid it out on my bed before grabbing my towel and running into the shower. The others were already gone.

I took a quick shower and then went back to my room changing and doing my hair. "Oh god I'm really late." I said in worry as I ran out of the room. I suddenly ran into Freed who had walked into the living room, the impact making us both fall.

I landed on top of him and my lips brushed against his for a brief moment. We both stared at each other with wide eyes.

I then stumbled off of him and scooted back felling my whole face burn. "Uh- s-sorry!" I exclaimed in embarrassment.

He sat there not saying a word. He brought his hand to his mouth and blushed wildly.

I heard a chuckle and turned to see Mira, Lisanna, Elfman, Bixlow, Laxus, and evergreen all watching us with smirks on their faces.

What they saw that whole thing?! Oh my god! I thought as I became even redder.

Mira giggled. "Are you ready (y/n)? We came to get you."

"I'm ready yes let's go." I said quickly running out of the house.

We stopped by the guild to tell everyone we were leaving. The thunder legion and the Strauss siblings were packing up the wagon we were traveling on. I was saying goodbye to Cana.

"Awe here my girl goes off on her very first mission with the guild." Cana said putting an arm around me. Then she pulled me into a proper hug. "Be careful ok?"

"Awe Cana I won't be alone you know." I smiled trying to make her not worry so much.

"I know." She sighed and pulled away. "Still take this just in case." She handed me a personal communication card. "If anything goes wrong, even the tiniest thing, you can call me."

"Thanks Cana." I smiled pulling her into another quick hug.

"Come on (y/n) we're all ready!" Mira called.

"Coming!" I called back. I flashed one last smile before running over to the others.

"Good luck!" Lucy called.

"See you!" Wendy waved.

"Bye!" I waved back and then climbed into the wagon. Setting off on my first adventure with my new friends.

We were all riding in the wagon toward our destination. Elfman was driving, and Laxus was sitting in the corner. He acted composed, but it seemed forced and he looked like he was holding something in.

"What's with him?" I asked the others.

"He gets motion sickness. It's something every true dragon slayer suffers." Freed explained.

"So you two?" Bixlow asked sitting between us and putting arms around both of us. "We ever gonna talk about that lip action this morning?"

Me and Freed both blushed wildly.

"Wha- no uh that wasn't um" I stuttered nervously.

"It was an accident." Freed looked away to hide his very red face. "I'd never kiss a girl without her consent."

"Awe he's trying to be such a gentleman for you (y/n)." Bixlow teased.

Damn I want the attention off of us, and I know exactly how to do it. "Hey Boxlow you and Lizanna sure looked cute and cuddly together last night didn't you?"

"Uh-" he became flustered and didn't know what to say.

"Yeah." Mira added. "You two have something you wanna tell us?"

"What?!" Lisanna exclaimed her cheeks reddening. "N-no that wasn't what it looked like. We were drunk!"

"Yeah geez there's nothing between us." Bixlow said sulking into the corner.

Mira giggled. "Awe but you two would be so cute together. Just look how red my little sisters getting."

"Mira!" Lisanna scolded. "Cut it out!"

Freed chuckled happy his friend was getting some well deserved karma. Mira continued to tease lisanna, and evergreen took the opportunity to get revenge on Bixlow.

I smiled brightly they have their quirks, but I love them all so much.

"Hey you ok?" Freed asked when I became quiet.

"Yeah." I replied resting my chin on my knees. "I'm just enjoying the moment. I don't think I've ever felt happier than I do when I'm with all of you."

"Them I'm glad I found you that day in the woods, or you wouldn't be here right now." He smiled at me.

"Hm I don't know." I replied. "I think it was destiny for me to meet you. Otherwise I'd never be free right now. It's strange now I don't have to protect anyone from myself, and I can live normally."

"Fate does have a funny way of presenting itself in the worst, or the best of times." Freed said.

"Hm you are quite the perfect gentleman Freed." I chuckled.

"I'm going to take that as a compliment." He sighed.

"Good, it was." I smiled looking at him. Our eyes locked and I got lost in them for a minuet. The whole world seemed to disappear, but we were snapped out of our trance by the wagon stopping.

"We're here!" Elfman called from up front.

"Oh great!" Mira said In her usually joyful and excited way. "Come on girls let's go up and see our room, I heard its massive!" She grabbed me and Ever and rushed into the inn.

I laughed feeling glad to have great friends. My heart warmed up in my chest at the feeling of overwhelming joy.

But what I didn't know was something dark was to come...
