It was dawn when I finally arrived at the abandoned building that I called home. I felt stupid an naive all over again. In a ridiculously embarrassing way I felt the same as I did the night that Dick first kissed me over a year ago.

I hated how right it felt when I was with him. How I wished I was still with him now.

But I locked away all those feeling as I stepped into the warehouse, surprised that Ivy and Harley were talking in a serious tone.

"I thought you'd still be asleep." I commented as I leaned against the wall. They were used to her coming back at late hours, so they had to be up for a different reason.

"Kind of hard to sleep when the city is about to get burned to the ground." Ivy commented casually in a bored tone, which greatly opposed Harley who was practically jumping with excitement.

I was momentarily stunned by Ivy's words unsure if us was meant to be a joke or if she spoke seriously. But I knew better Ivy wasn't the type to make jokes. "What are you talking about?"

"So who's the new guy?" Harley questioned as she waltzed into the room. I had been hoping that the girls would be asleep, although I obviously didn't plan on telling them the direction that my night had taken a part of me still felt their judgment.

"What Harley?"

"Ya have this after sex glow." She continued as she motioned to her face with a giant grin. "You know the kind you get after good sex."

"Got tired of Lawton that quickly huh?" Ivy continued in a bored tone, but from the look in her eyes she was clearly intrigued.

"It was a one night thing." I quickly dismissed very aware that I had to be careful or else they would see through the lie. "It was good. But it won't happen again."

"At least you came back to see this city go to shit." Harley continued, clearly already over talking about what was going on with me. Clearly it was much less interesting than whatever else is going on.

"You still haven't explained what you mean by that."

"They arrested Bruce Wayne. They believe that he's involved with Carmine Falcone." A familiar voice stated, and I turned around to find Selina stepping into the room. I couldn't help but be surprised that she was back, after weeks of obsessively looking for any kind of evidence that Falcone was her father. "Arrest the richest man in the city and everyone becomes frenzied."

There was a pointed look on her face, one that spoke volumes. Bruce Wayne was the reason that she had returned to Gotham.

I still needed a moment to process what she had told me. Bruce Wayne arrested? That was ridiculous, he would never be involved with a criminal like Falcone, he was too morally just for it.

Dick was probably already at Wayne Manor hearing the news from Alfred. There was no way of knowing how he would react or what he would do. Meeting Selena's eyes once again I realized that she was waiting for me to come to that conclusion. That Dick was going to do something stupid.

Selina went back into her room without a single word and I immediately followed. I couldn't believe that she would show up like nothing and just go back into her room after what she had just told her.

"What the hell Selina?" I exclaimed as I shut the door behind me.

"You're upset." Selina noted like my anger was unwarranted.

"Of course I'm upset. You leave without a word and then come back as if nothing has happened."

"You can be upset at me later." He quickly dismissed and it was only now that I registered her somber expression. Maybe what happened to Bruce really had affected her, but Bruce Wayne was the most powerful man in the city. And one of the richest men in the world, he was going to be fine. "Let's make sure your Boy Wonder doesn't do anything stupid."

I knew that Selina was doing this for Bruce, not because she held any kind of affection for Dick. And if she did then she was amazing at hiding it as she came up with a plan to get Dick out of any potential trouble.

If he intended to do what we suspected and tries to go after Maroni in an attempt to clear Bruce's name, he would only get himself killed

Selina's plan was simple enough as I let him pin her to the ground on top of a rooftop on the other side of the city.

"You've gotten really good." Dick mused as he let go of my wrist. And in all honesty getting him here was a lot easier than I had expected. "But still not as good as me."

"Don't get cocky." I replied as I pushed his hand away, but that didn't seem to discourage him as the slight smirk on his lips remained.

"You know if you wanted to see me you didn't have to do all of this."

I rolled my eyes not at all surprised by his words. "Someone thinks highly of themselves."

"I've been wanting to see you too." He admitted but his smile quickly slipped away when he looked out towards the city, his expression now filled with worry. "But maybe tonight is not the night."

Placing my hand on his cheek I turned his face back to look at me. "Yet here you are."

"Here I am." He whispered a small smile on his lips before he leaned down to kiss me.

He kisses me gently placing a hand on the side of my face as he did. As I started kissing him back he deepened the kiss slipping his tongue into my mouth.

I couldn't help but wonder if all of this was even necessary. That maybe he could have been talked out of doing anything stupid or that maybe I could distract him like this long enough for him to not be able to do anything.

But instead Selina and I had gone to extreme lengths. And as he suddenly pulled away from me, his eyes wide as he placed his fingers to his lips I knew that the toxin had begun to take effect.

The lipstick I wore was laced with Ivy's toxins, and I couldn't help but feel guilty even though I knew it was for the best as I guided him gently onto the ground.

"Why?" He questioned as he slipped into unconsciousness, and the look of betrayal in his eyes was like a knife to the chest.

I remained silent until I had the absolute certainty that he had slipped into deep sleep.

"Because like an idiot I still love you." I finally whispered a pathetic and cowardly way of answering his question.

Placing the antidote by his head I pressed the distress alarm that was in the inside of his wrist. Alfred would soon be on his way to help wake him.

I looked up to find Selina standing at the ledge of the building, she was watching me carefully and I would have been lying if I didn't say that she had scared me.  I never sensed she was there and wondered just how much she had seen.

"Was Bruce..."

"No." Selina replied harshly, and I only nodded my head in response knowing better than to ask her to elaborate. "You should be careful."

I rolled by eyes as I looked out into the city, there were so many other things on my mind and the Holiday Killer was not one of them. Like Ivy had pointed out before, it wasn't our fight. "I don't think the killer is after us Selina."

"I'm not talking about the Holiday Killer. I'm talking about the Boy Wonder." Selina snapped causing me to meet her eyes, there was anger there. I had known that Selina wouldn't approve, but I didn't expect for her to oppose it so strongly.

"Selina...."

"I know." She continued, and I could see that this wasn't an easy topic for her. How could it be? She was in love with the most complicated man on the planet. At least Dick never hid his emotions, he was the opposite of what Bruce was. He wasn't afraid to express what he was feeling and maybe that was what drew me so much to him. I could never express my emotions so freely. "I know. Because I'm there too. And trust me it's not the place to be."

"It doesn't mean anything." I replied in an attempt to convince her, but I recognized my own foolishness. I wasn't trying to convince Selina. I was attempting to convince myself.

"It means everything." Selina stated firmly, and although it seemed that there was more that she wanted to say she no longer wanted to speak on it. She had already said too much and clearly regretted it. "Let's go."

A/N: Hello I know its been a while since I've updated this story but I got a random burst of inspiration so here we are. I'm going to rewatch season 2 soon, so hopefully I'll finally be able to finish this book for you guys. Can't promise another update soon but I will try.
