Finally here
2 weeks later
And two long arse weeks might I add. Every morning it's the same routine. Wake up at 6:00. Head to court. Come home feeling exhausted and impatient.
But today is the day we finally get a verdict. One that determines whether Jungkook will be coming home.
"Namjoon!" I catch the man just before he's about to head in. He looks at me curious, and that's when I pull him in for a hug. "Thank you. For everything."
"I'm simply doing my job—."
"Quit being humble and just accept my hug god damn it!" I snap, happy when I hear his soft chuckle. This is our first time hugging, I've never felt comfortable enough to do it until now. Namjoon isn't the most affectionate of people. Maybe it's a lawyer thing :)
"You've done good too though Y/n. Especially yesterday, your final statement really stuck with me."
"Really? Felt like I was stuttering a lot."
"Yeah did something throw you off?"
"Not some-thing."
Yesterday
"I wasn't Mr Jeon's psychiatrist for long. But the time I spent with him was enough to realise how much danger he was in—."
I freeze the moment my eyes lock on her. The slim female sat a few rows back in the crowd. Bold tattoos. A punk haircut and dark eyes that seem to be focusing a little too much on Jungkook.
I already know it's her.
"Miss L/n are you okay to continue your statement?" Mr Jung asks me, frustrated.
My eyes sting slightly for a moment until I blink away any possible tears. "Y-yes, yes of course." I shake off the hesitance and straighten myself up. For a split second I lock eyes with Jungkook, and I can see the guilt all over his face.
"Jeon Jungkook has already faced time for the so called crimes he committed." I say. And I pause to take a breath. "...It's now time for him to have justice over the crimes that were committed against him."
"Years ago. An innocent little boy was exposed to the kind of things no parent would ever want their child to see or feel. He couldn't shout or call for help, so he just endured it." Again my eyes well up with that familiar sting of tears, but this time it's a little more difficult to blink them away. "And that little boy endured it until he was no longer little. Then it was the teenagers turn. Now it's currently the young man's turn, unless things change for the better."
Back to present
"You heading in?" Namjoon holds the door open first.
"Not yet I need to meet Jimin." I say. And with his brief nod of the head, the ice man Kim Namjoon enters the court room.
I'll never understand how him and Jin because such good friends.
I head outside to the smoke shelter. It's pouring it down as per usual, I'm surprised car bonnets aren't dented from how heavy it is.
"Miserable weather ey."
I choose not to respond to that voice. Not even when the owner of it stands at my side.
"The saddest kind of weather and I'm named after it. Talk about unlucky."
I ignore the female. Even when she offers me a cigarette.
"Don't worry I won't charge ya." She says.
"I don't smoke." I respond.
"Ah so the goody two shoes act is real." She mutters with a cig between her lips. "See at least Jungkook not smoking is a surprise."
"Yeah well he cares about his health that's why."
"Maybe physical." She smirks, and my response is a glare.
"Aww come on hun, don't tell me you actually believe they'll let him go?"
"That's an opinion I'll keep to myself."
"Well I'll happily give you mine." She takes a drag before puffing out the disgusting black smoke. "Your little lover boys gonna rot in that cell. But don't worry. I'll keep him company."
I may not be good at intimidation, but my silence will be more irritating to her than any possible snarky response I could give. She wants me to bite and snap. It's literally why, that in a space with only two people, she's chosen to smoke her shitty cig right next to me.
"I gotta say though. This trial is bringing out a rather delicious selection of fellas. Check out red head over there."
I follow the direction Rain was looking in, a sigh of relief when seeing Jimin heading my way. Thank god I can get the hell away from this stench.
"Fuck me is the hunk with you??" Rain questions.
"Who is she talking to—."
"Just ignore her." I say before heading back inside, Jimin following straight behind me.
"Everything okay? What was the situation back there??"
"Just another girl tryna get in Jungkooks pants."
"Same old then." The red head says with a playful smirk. And we head into the court room.
