Part 4 - The night visitors

I'm really happy you're enjoying this! ❤️ I'm slowly getting into the story 😊 Enjoy ^.^

"I'm fine," I sighed, shifting on the sofa to find more comfortable position.

"And what about Luke? Did you change your opinion? You know it's for your safety, son."

I glanced over my bodyguard, who was standing near the window, looking out like somebody was out there.

"I know. Just catch Bernard already, I want you back," I replied, avoiding the direct answer.

"We're trying. Can you give me Luke for a moment?"

I sighed once again, standing up. My bodyguard shot his head my way when he heard I was going somewhere.

"Love you, dad," I whispered, walking towards Luke.

"Love you too, son. Stay strong."

I handed my phone to the older man, going back to the sofa. I focused on beating the level of my favorite video game, hearing Luke's voice when he was talking to my father.

After a while, the older man stood in front of me, completely blocking my view.

"Here," he handed me my phone, while I leaned to the left with a grunt to see the TV.

"No!" I yelled, when they killed me before I had a chance to even react.

I frustratedly looked at my bodyguard, snatching my phone from his hand, while there was an amused smile plastered on his face.

"Happy?" I mumbled, seeing him finally step away.

"You wouldn't beat it anyway," he replied with the shrug, walking back to his favorite spot by the window.

This man is getting on my nerves.

I opened my mouth to bark at him, but I decided it was pointless. I turned my console off, walking upstairs to my room, where I locked myself in.

I showered myself, prepared for tomorrow's school and laid down on my bed. Tiredness from this whole day took over me and I drifted into the dream world.

I woke up during the night with incredible hunger, realizing I didn't eat anything for the dinner yesterday. I grabbed my sweatpants with shirt and walked down.

To my surprise I saw my bodyguard in the living room, watching some tv show. I gulped when I saw him only in his sweatpants, his torso completely naked. Mentally slapping myself, I forced myself to move forward, the picture of his muscular body burning deeply into my mind.

Alright, what do we have here?

I turned the lights on in the kitchen and opened the fridge. It was half empty, making me even more disappointed. My stomach growled, demanding the attention.

"What are you doing here?"

I heard deep husky voice, making me look behind me. Luke was leaned against the frame of the door, scanning me. I tried so hard to avoid looking at his naked body, returning quickly my eyes to the fridge.

"I'm hungry," I replied, taking out an eggs, just to find out they were already a week expired.

"Don't forget to turn the light off once you're done," he announced, making me roll my eyes.

Yes, mum.

Hearing his footsteps disappear, I smiled to myself, being once again left alone. I pulled out the ham and some vegetables, knowing I would need to do some grocery shopping tomorrow.

I put everything down, washing the vegetables under the water, before cutting them. When I was in the middle of my job, Luke ran into the kitchen.

"Come here," He whispered quickly, his voice firm and demanding.

"What?!" I asked confused, before I heard some noises from upstairs.

Shit! What's going on?!

"Come here," he repeated once again, and I gripped the knife tighter, walking towards him.

I was scared, terrified, knowing Bernard found me and I was done for. Wildcat, and even my father, once told me about the ways Bernard was killing his enemies. And I didn't want that.

I was being pulled by my wrist towards my bodyguard, and I wasn't defending myself. He led me towards the exit door, while my eyes were glued to the upstairs, trying to see anything. He silently opened the door, leading me out.

"Wait, where are we going?" I asked him, the knife still in my hand.

"To the safety," he replied, not giving me even a stare.

"But the danger is in the house! We should face it, kill him," replied, too curious to run away from this situation.

I wiggled out of his grip, stopping in the movement. He looked at me, annoyed but worried at the same time.

"No. My job is to keep you safe, not to kill whoever is after you," he growled at me.

"But what if it's just an animal? A lost bird? Or just a burglar?" I objected, when he grabbed me once again.

"I don't want to hear any more words."

He's right, but how can I run away when I don't know what am I running from?

He let go off me to open the car door, which I used. I quickly turned and ran back to the house, hearing my name when he tried to stop me. With widely beating heart I ran upon the stairs up, hearing for any signs where the enemies were.

There was a loud banging noise coming directly from my room. I did a step towards the door, my hand with the knife in it shaking. I was immediately pushed away, my body hitting the floor. I watched in terror when the knife, the only weapon I had, slid away from my reach, before I looked at whoever sent me down.

I watched my bodyguard with the gun in his hand, slowly opening the door from my room. I slowly sat up, holding my breath. He walked in, while I crawled to the knife, feeling already better with something to defend myself.

I heard noises from the room. Within few more seconds there was only silence, while I stood up. The door opened, while I prepared myself with the knife, when I saw my bodyguard. He walked towards me, furiously snatching the knife out of my hands.

He threw me to the wall, his hand on my neck, firmly but not dangerously choking me. I saw so much rage in his brown eyes, fearing this man, but yet again I showed him only resistance.

"Never again doubt my decisions," he growled, and I knew he wanted to hit me, his hand folded in fist.

"Was it Bernard?" I asked with difficulty, when he let go off me and I was able to breath again.

"No. Those three shitheads from your school," he replied, and I tried to calm myself down.

Mike?? What was he doing in my room?

I nodded my head, walking towards my room, when he grabbed my wrist once again.

"Promise me here and now, that if something like this happens again, you'll listen to anything I'll say," he said, his voice calmer but still firm.

"It wasn't Bernard. There was no danger," I replied, frowning.

His grip on my wrist tightened, and I clenched my jaws to suppress the pain. This man wasn't gentle and soft.

"You didn't know that. Ryan, this is not a game. This is your life we're talking about."

If it was Bernard I would be dead by now. I know he's right. But I needed to know.

"Fine. Now let go off me," I pointed at my wrist, and he did what I wanted.

"Two escaped, one is unconscious," he informed me, and I walked towards my room, rubbing my wrist.

I opened the door, seeing my room half destroyed. My radio was destroyed, my PC too. My clothes were laying on the ground, some of them ripped apart. My chair was split into two, next to it Mike was laying on the ground.

"I'll call a police," my bodyguard informed me, but I stopped him.

Mike could say about me selling drugs. That's too high price for him being taken to the custody.

"No!"

I need to call Wildcat. He'll know what to do.

"What?"

"Just help me get him on the street. He'll look like a drunken man anyway," I replied, watching my bodyguard pick up the body.

I knew he wasn't happy about what I wanted, but I was grateful that he didn't fight with me in this. I followed him out of the house, where he put him down. My bodyguard stepped back, walking towards the house. I followed him, closing the door behind us.

"That's your solution? Just leave him there?" Luke asked, and I shrugged.

"I don't want to drag police department into this. That would kill my father," I answered, seeing him nod.

"So this is going to be our secret then, huh?" He asked me, while I smiled at him.

"Do you want my father to know that I escaped you and got myself almost killed? That you're worthless in what you do? That you failed to look after a young boy?" I teased him, when I was pinned to the wall.

He punched the wall next to my head, and my heart skipped a few beats. I knew I was playing with the fire and I just waited for the moment to get burned.

"Punch me, hit me. I know you want to," I mocked him once again, holding my breath in fear.

Do I see tears in his eyes?!

"You and me, we're done."

He stepped away from me, taking a jacket. I blinked several times, confused.

"Where are you going?" I whispered, when he looked at me.

"Hope that nobody is going to show up. Because you're on your own," he growled, opening the door.

"What?! You can't just walk away!"

"Watch me."

With those words he smashed the door behind him. I blinked several times, unable to process what happened here.

I don't need him anyway.

I ran upstairs, taking my phone. I quickly dialed Wildcat's number, waiting for him to answer it.

"Ohm," he greeted me, and I nodded my head.

"Can you do me a favor? One of my buyers got mad at me for not selling him another portions. I refused because he owned me two thousands dollars. He got into my house, destroyed my room. He's unconscious in front of my house. Do you think you can take care of him?" I asked, looking around.

"Of course. I'm sending a few men over there. Are you ok?" He asked me, his voice filled with concerns.

"I'm fine."

Maybe mainly thanks to Luke.

"Alright. By the way, I want to talk to all of you. Can you make it tomorrow night?"

"I will be there," I promised him, the adrenaline from tonight's event slowly disappearing.

"Good night, Ryan. I'll see you tomorrow."

With those words he canceled the call. I grabbed my stuff, dressing myself up to the school, when my stomach growled again.

Oh, right. Food first.
