Part 11 - Another argument

I swear I'm still alive! Aaaaaaand... still apologizing to you! I started school, got a new job, lost an interest in writing. But I will try better. For you guys!❤️ Enjoy ^.^

"I'll wait just here," Luke informed me, when we were in front of Wildcat's hideout.

I was scared at first to let him drive me here, because I was giving away my boss' position, but my bodyguard told me he didn't have any interest in what my father was doing. He was just here to protect me and nothing else. And I trusted him.

"But it can take a few hours," I replied, and he shrugged.

"That's fine. Go already."

I sighed, but nodded, leaving his car. I knocked on the door, giving Luke's car one last look, before the door opened.

"Ohm!"

I was instantly pulled into the hug and I was so happy to see Mini. Alive and energetic as always.

"Come in," he smiled at me, but I noticed sadness behind his smile.

I walked in, through the hallway into the living room. It hit me how coldly empty the room suddenly was. There was nobody.

"I heard what happened in the nightclub. This has to stay between you and me, but Wildcat reached his bottom with that news. All people who decided to work even through the risk, died at the nightclub. At least the new blood survived. And you of course," he smiled at me again, and I had a feeling that nothing was going to be the same.

"Where's Wildcat now? Is he here?" I asked, seeing my friend nod.

"In his office."

Mini walked towards the door, knocking on it. We both waited for the invite and then walked in. The whole room was a mess. The papers were on the ground, the drawers smashed half. It was like a tornado ran through this room.

I met Wildcat's eyes. He seemed to be so tired and mad at the same time. There were a big almost purple circles under his eyes and I knew it was because he was left alone with everything.

He stood up, walking towards me and hugged me. I respected the way he tried to hold together in front of me. He didn't want to look broken and defeated. Just like me in front of others.

"I'm so glad you're alive," he spoken, his voice cracked a bit.

"Wildcat. I want to help you," I said firmly, when he stepped back.

"What?"

"I'll go to the streets. You won't be the only one there, I won't allow that. I came here to tell you this and to check if you're ok," I informed him, receiving a frown.

"Are you out of your mind? You escaped your death and you want to run into it's embrace once again? No!"

"We've lost eight people in the nightclub. Others took their days off and who knows when, and even if, they'll come back. And you can't run on your own. You don't even need to," I tried to reason with him.

"Ohm is right, Tyler. You need to rest," Mini joined the conversation, receiving a furious look from our boss.

"I'm fine!"

"No, you're not fine! You're already at the bottom! You can't go any lower, and I refuse to see you getting slowly killed by this. I can manage the cooking, Ryan will go to the streets."

I was amazed by the way Mini talked to him. In such protective and caring manner. He didn't seem to be even scared of any reaction that might have came.

"Bernard is after Ohm! So we will send him out to the streets for him to find him quicker? That's insane!" Wildcat stormed, and it warmed me how caring he was towards me.

"Bernard won't expect me to sell, to be right in front of his eyes," I added, and I smiled after seeing Wildcat's tired sigh.

"Fine. But if you die out there, I'll find a way to resurrect you and kill you again!" Wildcat gave up, and I exchanged happy look with Mini.

"Thank you, boss. I'll be here from Monday evening."

I need to just somehow explain this to Luke. Or to whoever is going to watch after me.

"Wait here, Mini. Need to talk to you," my boss stopped my friend, who wanted to escort me.

I rather walked out of the room, walking out of the building. I got into Luke's car.

"So?" he asked me, starting the engine.

"Well... I'll tell you later. You're driving and I know you're going to be mad," I explained, being the rest of the ride in silence.

I sat down on the sofa, when he grabbed the chair out of the kitchen and set in front of me. He sat down, scanning me and waiting for me to start talking.

"Please, promise to not to freak out," I started, when he sighed.

"I'll try, but I probably will. So start talking."

"Fine. So I've decided to help out my boss. He gave his people a days off, lost men in the nightclub who wanted to work even through the risk of dying," I started, mentally preparing for the storm.

"That's really sweet of you," he replied silently, but he still had his expressionless mask.

"He was left alone, with only one man cooking. I'll go to the streets, selling again," I said aloud, shrinking down.

There was a silence, I couldn't even read anything from his face, from his eyes.

"After Bernard is behind the bars or dead, right?" He finally spoke, his voice shaking in anger.

"Starting this Monday," I informed him.

"No," he replied instantly.

"Luke! I'll be fine, I truly will be. I can't let-"

"No!" He raised his voice, and I noticed his knuckles getting whiter how hard he was gripping the chair.

"I can't let him be alone. He's-"

"I said no!" I yelled at me, smashing the chair to the ground in pure rage.

"Do you even understand what you're saying? You want to go out right into his domain? After Gregory died protecting you? After what happened with Phill?" He yelled at me, and I decided not to show him he had me cornered.

"That's not your concern anymore! I owe Wildcat and I already set up my mind to help him. There's no way how to change my decision," I growled back, but I knew his arguments were more valid than mines.

"Why do you need to be so stubborn?! We all risk our lives for you and you keep getting yourself into deeper shit! You promised your father to go to the school and back home," he continued yelling, his hands folded into the fists.

"You would rather me to listen to everything you say! You would rather me being locked away somewhere, being scared and helpless. But that's not me!" I yelled back, standing up.

He pushed me immediately to the nearest wall, punching the wall next to my head. His eyes were full of fury, and I was just expecting the moment he was going to hit me, the moment I would cross the line.

"No, but I don't want to see you getting killed," he growled.

"You don't need to! You won't even be here, so what's your problem?" I barked back, trying to push him away from me, when he grabbed my wrists, pinning them above my head.

My brain immediately remembered the way he kissed me back in the alleyway, and I quickly mentally slapped myself so many times when his scent hit me.

"Why wouldn't I be here?" He asked me with deeper tone of the voice.

"Because I'll have another man behind me. Let go off me now."

I sensed the desperation in my voice, and I knew my will of resistance is getting thinner. His closeness was getting under my skin, clouding my mind.

"You won't. I'll watch your ass," he growled for the last time, stepping away from me.

"What?!" I asked silently, rubbing my both wrists.

"You heard me."

He started to walk back to his spot near the window, when I stopped him.

"No!"

He turned himself to me, while I did a few steps towards him.

"No. I don't want you to look after me," I said louder, a confusion showing behind his expressionless mask.

"What?"

Because having you by my side would mean loosing you. I already lost Gregory and even Phill. I won't let something bad happen to you. I won't drag you down into my mess.

"What did you say?" He asked again, making me realize I was silently lost in my thoughts.

"I don't want you as my bodyguard," I informed him.

"Too bad, kiddo. I already decided," he growled at me, continuing back to his place.

"I hate you!" I barked at him for the last time, walking back to my room.

"And don't think I don't know about your exam on Monday!" He yelled at me to have his last word, while I smashed the door behind me.

He's making my blood boil, but I can't loose him. I just can't.
