Chapter 13

Hiya! This chapter is slightly longer ^_^ I hope you like it :3

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Did you hear about Eun-ah and Jonghyun?"

"Ooo! Did they break up?!"

"He's been hanging out with Krystal lately, hmmm, maybe?"

"That's probably why she hasn't shown her face!"

"Yeah, she's probably dying of embarr--"

The students in the hall immediately shut their mouths when they saw who was coming down the hall. It was Eun-ah, but she had a different aura around her. It was more up lifting than gloomy like it used to be.

As she walked down the hall to her class, people left and right were stopping to look at her, but she didn't notice. She just had two things on her mind and she was hoping to stick to it.

1.) Get through High School.

&

2.) Avoid Jonghyun.

When she got to her class, she took a deep breath before opening the door. Practically everyone in the class grew silent as she awkwardly made her way to her seat in the back. Taking out a notepad from her school bag, she grabbed a pencil.

"Hey Eun-ah, long time no see," V smirked as he sat in the desk in front of her. Jimin sat to her right, smirking also.

"Hi guys," She muttered cutely, causing V's face to flush.

Jimin attacked her in a bone-crushing hug.

"WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? I'VE BEEN DEPRIVED OF YOUR CUTENESS FOR SO LONG!!"

"Ji- min- can't- breathe---"

Jimin let go, scratching the back of his neck sheepishly.

"Sorry, I just really missed you." He smiled, "Plus without you here, V's been a cranky little butt."

"I have not," V defended, but it was no use, Eun-ah was already laughing. V stared at her with a smile on his face.

"We really missed you, y'know that?" Hesitantly, he grabs the pencil from Eun-ah's hand and scribbles something down in her notepad. "Call if you're going to be gone okay? So we don't worry."

Eun-ah looked down at the numbers written down, to the shy boy in front of her, a lop-sided grin playing at her lips.

"My, my, V~ You gave me your number? Some would think you liked me or something," She teased, giggling.

Jimin rolled his lips into a thin line to prevent him from saying anything, but V cleared his throat.

"I do like you Eun-ah."

She froze, searching for an emotion or something that would tell her that he was joking.

"No one wants you."

Jonghyun's words kept repeating in her head as they waited for her reaction. Jimin was just as shocked as she was; he didn't think the boy had it in him.

"That's not funny," She says, hanging her head down to rest on the palm of her hand. She stared out the window, and sure enough, the P.E. class was getting ready. Like usual. She rolled her eyes, turning her head back to the two boys.

V reached out to grab her hand.

"I'm not trying to be funny. Eun-ah, I like you-- like-like you."

Eun-ah giggled. "'Like-like? What? Are we in Primary again?"

Jimin started to laugh, causing V to smack the back of his head.

"Taehyung," Eun-ah says, using his real name as she retracts her hand from his. "You can't fool me. I know that nobody really likes me in this school. Sure my new friends do, and so do you two, but no one can really like-like me that way. And besides, even if you did, I still have Jonghyun and I wouldn't want to make things awkward."

Jimin stopped laughing, staring at his rejected best friend before speaking up.

"Eun-ah... There's something you need to know about Jonghyun."

"What? That he's the lowest level of scum? A douche bag? I've heard it all."

"He's cheating on you," V says quietly.

"With that blonde bimbo down there?" Eun-ah asks with a straight face, pointing to Krystal who had her hands all over Jonghyun. Their eyes widen.

"You know??" They ask in unison. "And you're okay with it??"

Right as she was about to open her mouth, the bell rang, saving her from explaining everything.

"We'll continue this later, aight?" Jimin says, stuffing his hands into his pockets. He nods to V who was already in his seat. "Meet us at the Hangout during lunch."

She nods, turning her attention back to the P.E. class as people began to file in. Luckily Yonghwa wasn't here today to pester her, but someone else was. Minhyuk came and sat right in front of her.

"We need to talk."

Eun-ah averted her gaze from the field to Minhyuk's big puppy eyes. She turned her head to peer around him, checking if the teacher was here yet.

"About what?" She asks, dreading the next few moments of this conversation.

"You know what about." He sighs, pointing to the field. "Ji's been going crazy. He misses you and since you've left he's been letting that creature hang with us. He's trying to replace you with her--"

"Why do you care?" Eun-ah interrupts, staring him dead in the eye. "You never even talked to me before now and now out of nowhere you decide to tell me about stuff I already know? So what if he's trying to replace me? It just proves that he never really loved me at all..." Her tone got quieter and quieter as she said the last sentence.

"That's where you're wrong." He says seriously. "The guy's been in love with you since you two first met. He's stubborn, you know that. I've never really talked to you because Ji's really jealous when it comes to you. Heck, he doesn't even like it when Yonghwa or the rest of us look at you in a weird way. He's just trying to get over the fact that you broke his heart."

She scoffs, her gaze falling on the boy outside. "Oh please, he started breaking my heart when he first laid his hands on me." She says quietly so that only Minhyuk could hear.

He stared at her, watching as her body began to shake. Minhyuk sighed. He knew how much she loved him, and he knew how much Jonghyun loved her, but that one trait about Jonghyun was something Minhyuk could never wrap his mind around.

"I'm sorry about what he does--"

She scoffs again. "No you aren't." She chuckles humorlessly. "If you really were, you wouldn't let Jonghyun or Yonghwa treat me this way. Sorry, sorry, sorry. That's all you guys say and it drives me insane. If you were really sorry, you'd help me expose Jonghyun for who he really is."

"You know I can't do that."

Minhyuk pinched the bridge of his nose. "Aish, if I can get him to promise not to do that stuff again, will you come back to him? He needs you."

Eun-ah shifted in her seat uncomfortably.

"I'd rather have him say all this stuff to me. If he really wanted me back, he would've said it himself."

"You know he has too much pride to do that."

She sighs. "Then I guess I'm not worth it."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Eun-ah's POV

As class went by, I avoided seeing Jonghyun as best as I could. I went down different stairways to get to my classes, I carried all my stuff with me so I didn't have to go to my locker, and I didn't skip out and go to the roof. Shocking, I know, but I guess I have to sacrifice skipping class in order to stay happy.

During lunch, I made a bunch of excuses to Jimin and V about earlier and instead of talking about Jonghyun, we just sat and hung out with each other. I still think V was kidding about what he said earlier, because he acted like it didn't phase him. Sighing, I rested my head in my hand as I doodled on my World History notes. My teacher, Mr. Jang, was a nice old man in his 60's with a nice crop of white hair on his head; he by far was my favorite teacher, other than the music teacher. Mr. Jang was going over different wars that happened in other countries and when he stopped talking, I peered my head up.

I froze in my seat, watching in horror as Jonghyun stood there with a green school office note in his hand. He handed it to Mr. Jang who called out my name.

"Ms. Park, would you please follow this young man to the office, it appears that you are needed immediately. Take your stuff, you might be there for a while."

I shut my eyes, nodding as I grabbed my stuff with me. I went to grab the green note and pushed past Jonghyun without saying a word. He, however, just smirked.

"What? I don't get a hello?" He chuckles after we left the classroom. I turned to glare at him, causing him to shift in place and stop chuckling. When I began walking, he walked beside me. As he tried to slip his hand into mine, I retracted, almost as if his touch burned me.

Maybe it's because I, too, am going through heartbreak.

"What do you what?" I ask, annoyed.

He cleared his throat, gently grabbing onto my wrist so I wouldn't spin away.

"I want you back--"

"No." I say blankly. I tried getting my wrist out of his grasp, but he didn't budge. Instead, he dragged me up the stairs to my quiet place: The roof.

"Shouldn't I be going to the office?"

Jonghyun rolled his eyes. "I'm Class Prez, forging notes isn't that hard."

"Why'd you do it?"

"Because we need to talk."

I try to turn to leave again, but he grabs both of my wrists, causing me to drop my stuff.

"Just hear me out," He pleads, "okay?"

My eyes narrowed at the dark haired boy in front of me, then, I sighed. "You have 5 minutes."

"I want you back." He says. "Hell, we never even broke up in the first place. I love you, you know I do, but no matter what I say, I know you won't forgive me. What I said was shit, and how I reacted to you was even worse. I overreacted. I shouldn't have spoken to you that way nor should I have ever made you feel like you weren't worth something. Eun-ah, you're literally all I have."

"You're my best friend, and I know I've been... a total ass these past couple months, but you know I don't mean any of it. You know how sorry I am and you know that I'd do anything to make it up to you. You're my world. My everything."

I could feel my eyes start to water, so I looked away.

"What about Krystal? Last time I checked, I wasn't so special to you anymore."

"There's nothing going on between me and Krystal!" He's lying, I know it. "Don't listen to the rumors. She's just a friend."

"A friend with benefits?" I look at him with glassy eyes, I was biting down so hard on my lip to keep myself from crying. "I saw you kiss her! Hell, she was asleep at our house when I left, she was even wearing my clothes! Don't tell me there's nothing going on, because I can't handle being lied to!"

"I'm not lying! She's just a girl that's been following me around and since you wanted nothing to do with me, I tried to give her a chance, but I can't. I love you, not her! Why can't you see that!?"

I ripped my wrists from his grasp and rolled up my sleeves.

"The bruising might be gone but the scars and the memories never fade. I used to think that this was love..." My eyes stayed glued to my arms as Jonghyun gently traced the marks. The scars of what he did. "I thought that you would hurt me because you loved me, but someone convinced me that this wasn't love. Jonghyun if you really loved me, you would never hit me, never pull my hair, never kick me-- do you see what's wrong here?"

"You used to watch me cry every night because I upset you and you took it out on me. In the week that I've been gone, sure I've cried over you, but I also had fun. No one yelled at me, no one hit me, and I laughed. Don't you want me to be happy?"

When I looked up, I saw Jonghyun wiping at his eyes. Was he crying?

"Jonghyun--"

"You know I never meant any of it right?" He blurts. I could see his sadness in his eyes, his face was getting red and there were tears rolling down his cheeks. The sight made my heart hurt. "I never meant to hurt you, I don't even know why I do. I don't mean any of it and I always feel like crap afterwards. I-I'm sorry.."

"Please... please just take me back."

I stare at him for the longest time, then freeze as he wraps his arms around me. As he nuzzles his head in the crook of my neck, my arms find their way around his shoulders. Even though we've been through a lot, I still love the feeling of being in his arms. But this time...

It felt so wrong.
