Astrid and I walked through the park that Friday morning, watching the beautiful sunrise slowly move upward. We were probably about a mile in the trail when Astrid said, "I'm gonna go to the girls room right over there real quick." My eyes follow her finger to where she was referring to.

"Ok, go ahead. I'll sit right here on this bench." I said as I sat down.

"Thanks May, I'll only be a sec." And she runs off. I watch her until she disappears behind the building where the doors to the restrooms are. I sit there listening to the morning birds chirp and enjoy the slight breeze running through my hair.

After about 5 minutes of sitting there thinking, I start to get annoyed. What is taking her so long? I walk down to the building where the restrooms are. I turn around the corner and my throat felt like it collapsed. I fell onto the ground kneeling next to the body of my injured best friend.

Right through her chest was a sharp metal pipe that was sticking up out of the ground. "Astrid no no no. Please don't be dead. Come back please!" I pleaded to her with tears streaming out of my eyes.

I lay there my head on her stomach crying. But right then I felt her shift a bit and I looked up to see her eyes open a bit. Those beautiful big green eyes of hers were filled with sadness and hurt. It was just then I saw her slowly open her mouth in pain and she said "Save me" before collapsing and exhaling one final breath.
