Save Her, With Love (Damini Fanfic)
Date- October 12, 2015
A young girl's body was found on the streets of Delhi shredded with blood. According to the witnesses, they claimed that the girl was thrown out of the bus. One of the witness claimed that the men were laughing when they threw her out of the bus. The police identified her as 'Lakshmi' from her wallet. Therefore, no identity of the rapists are found. Police are still investigating the details from her parents.
"This is humiliating! The same thing's happening every day and now it's becoming a major issue!" said Govind after he furiously switched off the laptop after reading it. His cellphone was vibrated from his office desk. He saw his Facebook notifications were going full as well as a friend request from the name, 'Damini Shekhar' and at the bottom of her name the designation was written as 'social activist'. With a full surprise, he found Damini who used to wear sarees and salwars was now wearing a t-shirt and jeans as Shekhar was now taking care of children from the orphanage on which he established. Their grown and good looking son-Vivan who had an interest in boxing as well as well as film and media plus writing.
After Govind confirmed her friend request, he saw the text message of her that one of her junior volunteers- Lakshmi had been passed away with an accident as it was the one with the report which Govind read. Damini also offered him to investigate it because she heard that Govind left his job as a lawyer but now he became a highly-profiled private detective. At first, he felt a little headache and was anxious because he was reminded of his wife who was killed by the goons as well as his past humiliations. But as he drank water, he relaxed in the chair. The moment he agreed in the text message, his personal assistant knocked the door.
"Sir, a young man wants to meet you" said the personal assistant. He saw a sporty looking young man with a black-hoody shirt as well as a rough looked jeans with a smile.
"Are you the private detective, Govind?" asked the sporty man.
"Are you the young man, Vivan?" said Govind.
"How do you know, sir?" asked Vivan (the sporty man).
"Your mom added me through Facebook and yes, the photos on my newsfeed. Your short films mesmerized me" said Govind.
"Thank you, uncle. Oh, I am here for a reason" said Vivan.
"Sure, tell me what happened?" said Govind.
"The girl who died there was the love of my life- Lakshmi. She used to work in mom's organization. After that, she used to go to a minister-Jhanvi Dutta's house as a secretary. She went to watch a movie with me for a date. When I was about to see her off to an empty bus without a knowledge that there were gang of four men who hid inside the bus. She was crying for help but when I chased the bus with the motorbike, I fell off after bumped by the bus. After that accident, I lost trace on the bus. When I heard she was gang raped, I saw her body but the police did not claim the real story behind it. Just an evidence is needed. As far as I know, someone from the minister's house was linked with it" said Vivan.
"Sorry, young man for what happened to your love. Never give up hope, son-love is on its way. Therefore, you also speak the truth like your mom. It reminded me of your mom who even cried for help when she was not supported by anyone except your dad. Anyways, off to the investigation and yes, you are coming with me" said Govind.
As the series of riots held along, Dutta was nowhere found by Govind and Vivian. They searched for her in her office, the parliament house and the factories she used to run. As he found some of the staffs in the house, he saw a young and thin servant who was cleaning a flower vase.
"Hey you, where's your madam?" asked Govind.
"She's outside the country" said the servant.
"Is there anyone in your house?" asked Govind.
"Yes, her son" said the servant.
Suddenly, a fair young spiky man came furiously into the scene.
"What the hell is going on? Is this the way to enter a decent person's house?" said the young man.
"Is this the way to talk to your seniors, young man? Alas-this generation! Do you have any idea about the serious issue? And where's your mom?" said Govind furiously.
The spiky haired man was in such a shock that he peed his pants.
"Sorry sir, she's abroad!" said the spiky haired man.
Vivian was about to show his violent rage but calmed by Govind. When he asked the spiky haired man about Lakshmi, he claimed that she used to work as a secretary but he also claimed that he did not knew what happened to her after that. Vivian and Govind came out of the house as he suspected Dutta's chauffeur was nervous to answer their question about Lakshmi.
Suddenly, Vivan saw a card that was stuck on his foot. He picked up as he saw a card of a local bus stand. They thought of going there by disguising themselves as a common man. As Govind dressed as a cowboy, Vivan dressed himself as a nerd with round glasses with a fake rabbit teeth. According to the disguise, they checked the bus by persuading the manager by giving him chocolates. When Vivan claimed that a broken bus which had a little blood on it was the bus that he chased. At their back, an old lady with a torn cloth came nearby.
"Sons, what are you looking for?" asked the old lady.
"We are searching for a despicable man who ran from our house" said Govind.
"I am going there too. Don't worry, we will find him" said the old lady.
As both men penetrated the bus, the old lady later entered as if she was investigating along with them. As Govind was searching for a clue under the bus chair, Vivan suddenly shouted "I found something!"
The old lady pretended by not understanding the situation. Vivan saw a scarf as well as a Swiss-knife which was written 'I LOVE YOU' with the marker pen but a strange handwriting. Govind and Vivan bid the old lady by saying 'Thank you for helping us' and ran away from her as if a cartoon channel was switched on.
At last, they went to the office. Govind took Vivan to the study room where he analyze things. He called Dutta's son, the servant and the chauffeur for the handwriting. Dutta's son wrote the same words but turned out to be different, his trial became quickly over. After that, the servant was called off. His handwriting was on trial but again was different. After his trial was over, Govind called the chauffeur. The chauffeur was quite nervous. When he wrote it, Govind grabbed his hand.
"Are you the one?" asked Govind.
"Yes, I am" stammered the chauffer.
"How did the Swiss knife came from? Why is it in the bus?"
"Sir, while Lakshmi madam was there, I entered the bus along with four of my friends. I saw her outside with that Vivan boy, we hid ourselves so that madam can enter" stammered the chauffeur.
When Govind pointed at Vivan
"Is this the man on the bike whom you saw with Lakshmi?"
"Yes"
Vivan choked the chauffer's collar.
"Why the hell did you murder my Lakshmi?" shouted Vivan with a baritone voice.
"I used to love her. My wife used to stop me from doing the fantasies I used to develop. As a child, I was not born with mother's love but I get beaten by my sister. I was also a neighbor of Lakshmi as both of us were the same background: the middle class people. She just considered me as a friend but not as a lover. I deliberately failed my studies because of her. I used to save the photos from social networking sites through phone. When she came to know about it, she overreacted it and threw my phone to the riverside of the bridge that I used to hang out with my friends. I was crashed and shattered again. At the time, she was admitted to the university and I was forced to get married. Few years later, we met again as I was hired as a government chauffer. I used to stalk her in her office and developed more fantasies of her. As I found out that you (Vivan) from her university as well as the organization fell in love with her. I could not tolerate it. Then my friends and I planned to rape Lakshmi that Dutta madam's son and Vivan will be framed. Thanks to you, Mr. Govind-you made an active investigation with Vivan that I was quite nervous of" said the chauffeur.
The old lady's presence made all of them in the room a silent echo. The old lady ripped off her 'disguise' as a middle-aged lady but looked young.
"MOM!" surprised Vivan.
"Shut up, young man! And Govind-why did you both ran away like a cartoon?" asked Damini (the old lady).
"Sorry Damini-ji! We were a little uncomfortable and I thought that you were stalking us as I even thought that you were one of the oldest bus staffs" said Govind.
"Arrey! It's okay and Vivan, what did you say? An assignment in the university? Where have you been for two days? Just to investigate the love of your life. But son, I am proud of you! No matter what you did is the justice for love. You are more like your father" said Damini to Vivan.
"Mom! Why did you disguise yourself as an old lady?" asked Vivan.
"Huh! How can I explain, son? When I heard that you witnessed her death, I was aware that you will make an excuse that you are going for the university assignment but I know your reality. He even indirectly told me about the detective. Therefore I deliberately gave your visiting card. I even added Govind in Facebook that I can inform him of Vivan and his reckless behavior" said Damini.
"Yes, son. I also support your cause but you are really lucky to have a mother like her. Tareekh (Day, Date or Time) does not matter but your courage to investigate the rape case was brilliant, son! I am proud of you!" said Govind.
"Even her soul got the justice, will I find the same love?" asked Vivan as well that he wept.
"Never lose your courage, son! Your mom suffered the same but in a different setting and manner but look, how happy she is now! You know, I lost my wife the same way as yours! Be who you are. Never feel alone, son. If you love one, everyone will love you. If you know thyself, you are in and peaceful" said Govind.
Damini slapped the chauffer but he smiled.
"It seems that he should be going back to the psychiatric hospital. Hope, he will be fine with his friends, isn't it? Govind-ji?" said Damini sarcastically.
"Yes madam" said Govind sarcastically.
The chauffer was laughing so much that the media rushed towards him and tried to ask questions. But the chauffer laughed so hard that he was taken by the nurses.
"Who did it?" asked Govind, Vivan and Damini with surprise.
A bulky man with an Armani suit as well as the white shirt. He had a grey beard as well as the hair.
"Shekhar?" exclaimed Damini.
"Yes, it's me who sent the media and nurses. When Govind sent the stalker's picture on my old e-mail account, I was shocked! I realized that I must do an action! I lost my temper and called all the media and police to Govind's office because my intuitions told me about the stalker's secret whereabouts and Vivan! You proved that you are your mother's son- I mean our son. I always think that you are irresponsible and never was interested at social activities-" said Shekhar.
"He is, Shekhar" said Damini.
"Oh, sorry but I am proud of you! You finally found yourself" said Shekhar.
After few days, there was an event in Damini's organization. People were sitting in the crowded gallery. When Shekhar announced Vivan, he made a speech:
"Greetings, my fellow colleagues...
I would like to thank you all for the support but I would like to say something that I could not express during the investigation. Even though I lost the love of my life, I found a new hope, a confidence that I could not explain. Justice is for all because mom suffered, dad suffered and even one of my friends suffered. Do you know? This is not a legacy but a bitter truth that we are suffering for. I witnessed Lakshmi's death but I regret that I could not save her and I was almost cracked off but my confidence saved my life. I was lifeless as I remember the memories that I used to take her to the movies, we go to a dhaba where we used to hang around. One day, I was practicing with a punching bag in the gym. She used to mock my boxing skills. In that moment, I fell in love with her because she was one of my critic as well as she helped me to become the man I became today. However, if I never had that accident or if the bus stopped at their stand, not in the middle of streets, I could have saved her from getting raped. Now it has become a bitter reality. Now the real Thanks goes to my friend, uncle and mentor- Govind! Even both mom and dad and also you- the people who supported me for the case! It is a new learning experience, which I found a new hope but yes, if you love one as well as yourself, everyone will love you! Not 'Tareekh' but heart will come to your way. Thank you that I became a man but the real people are my mom, dad and Uncle Govind"
Everyone clapped as well as tears came out from their eyes. Vivan let both Shekhar and Damini to have a speech together.
"As a person, sorry for the loss and as a woman, justice should be prevailed. We must have to remove the germs who disrespects women. A virus that must be removed is child abuse as well as wrong parenting because according to the law, child abuse must be forbidden because these kind of event create a havoc in people's lives and build up a stalker like the criminal we have arrested. Sex education must be needed because nowadays, people never understand the difference between rape and sex. Thank you!"
After Shekhar and Damini left the scene, Govind entered:
"I learnt something from the past and present. If you have a sister, a daughter, a mother and a wife-please never neglect them. They are blessings and everyone is a real women if they understand the environment. If you even lose your loved one, never lose your 'dhai kilo ka haath' (strong hands of 2.5 kilos), otherwise you will feel alone".
After everyone finished their speeches, people clapped happily as Mrs. Dutta came to an appearance in public, Damini and the others were shocked that Mrs. Dutta was Damini's sister. She revealed that after her abusive husband died, he joined politics and changed her name. Damini left abroad for 4 years that left the contact disconnected. After she along with Govind happily gave the medal to Vivan, people happily left except for Vivan, Damini, Shekhar, Mrs. Dutta, her son and Govind. They hadtaken a selfie. After a long conversation, Lakshmi's father embraced Vivan with a tearful voice "I am proud of you, sonny boy! If my daughter would be alive, I would want you to marry her. I said is because of your honesty and your love for her! I am just a retired soldier'
Vivan said "It's okay, uncle. It's not a big deal. Your presence and blessings are everything. Hope Lakshmi will be happy with that".
Every women are blessings. The virus that we are having should not have it to any people. Never be
alone, be with the people who understand you. Otherwise, you may regret. In the past, Damini was the witness of the rape of the maid but the present is history. Never neglect people who really needs help and don't be extremely judgmental over people even before you absorb them.
