chapter10
I shrieked.
Like I really shrieked when I checked the time and it was thirty minutes after five in the morning.
And I was expected to go to school.
God!, I groaned.
Why does it seem as if I just opened and closed my eyes for a minute and then boom! It's a new day.
I crawled out of my bed.
I would have thought of a lie to tell my mom, so as to skip school. But today was the dinner party day.
And I wouldn't miss it for anything in the world.
At least, not now that I've rebounded with my boyfriend.
I dashed hurriedly to my bathroom as soon as I began to hear sounds of clicking heels.
Undoubtedly, it would be my mom heading to my room.
She always woke up much earlier than everyone else.
I quickly poured water on my body so in case she eventually enters my room, she would think I've been showering.
When I began sponging my body, the door of my room creaked, indicating that someone opened it.
"Where is this girl?" I overheard her.
"Chikaima! Are you still bathing by this time?" She raised her voice.
I sighed.
"This is the normal time everyone wakes up." I muttered, not expecting her to hear it.
"Come out from that bathroom first and you will see what I will do to you." She retorted.
I remained in my bathroom when I was done bathing.
Never ever had I thought the bathroom to be more conducive to stay in, than today.
When I heard a slam of the door, I took it as a signal that she had left.
I sighed in relief when I entered my room.
Crazy Woman!

"Why are you dressed like a Christmas tree?" Zimuzor snorted when I entered the car.
I hissed. "How does that affect you?"
"Keep drinking Panadol on top of my own headache. That's why you will insult me when you're dressed like a refugee." I added.
"Behave, Kaima," My mom scolded but I scoffed.
"You didn't hear him spitting out trash about me."
Five minutes later, we were in school. I simply waved my mom before heading to my class dressed like...
All thanks to Zimuzor who has made me doubt how fabulous I look.
Idiot!
"Golden come here!" A voice I refused to acknowledge, ordered.
I moved faster with my class in mind.
"Kaima have you gone deaf?" I then turned to behold the annoying English teacher.
I thought she would keep on calling me my other name.
Nonsense.
"Good morning, Ma." I greeted with a forced smile, acting innocent.
"Hold it there. What sort of ambiguous earrings are this on your ears?" She asked while eying me from up to down.
"They are the normal earrings a wealthy woman can buy for her daughter." I spat out.
Nosy stupid, jealous female teachers.
"What is that meant to mean?" Her voice was intimidating and harsh.
I shrugged. "Anything you figured out."
With that, I turned and continued to my class.
Adanna was the first to run and hug me when I entered the class.
"Oh my God! You look edible." Adanna whispered and I chuckled.
"Well, I hope nobody wishes me for lunch."
"Of course, someone does."
When I asked who, she retorted."That boy called Dindu."
I hissed as a smile managed to creep on my face.
"You're forming as if your heart did not skip a beat or two." Adanna laughed.
"It didn't."
"It did. Stop deceiving yourself."
My eyes wandered around the class. Everyone was dressed to their individual taste.
Most of the girls were dressed in gowns, while the remaining few went free style.
Even the guys looked good in what they wore. Including my boyfriend who has an odd sense of fashion.
"Look, now. You're lost in him." Adanna began again.
I hit her arm playfully. "Leave me alone, witch."
We laughed and went to our individual seats.
Tweet Michelle walked just then into our class. Her face was mean and her expression was blank.
"Chelsea please your brooch?" She asked with her eyes fixated just at Chelsea's.
"Wait," Chelsea opened her backpack and brought out the requested brooch. "Don't misplace it."
Tweet showed gratitude as she collected it.
Meanwhile, Obinna who's laps was a seat for Naomi, looked at Tweet with disdain.
Naomi followed his eyes with hers and then chuckled upon seeing that it was Tweet.
She muttered something to Obinna who held her waist and kissed her neck.
Naomi leaned further, enjoying the intimacy.
"Who got that title again?" Obinna asked knowingly.
Naomi feigned ignorance. "Which one?"
"Most unappealing.ohh...that reminds me. It's Tweet." Obinna stifled a laughter.
Tweet who had reached the door of the class, whipped her head back as she gradually turned to face them.
Her expression was damn grave.
"It's funny, right?" A wry smile crept up her face.
"Laugh while you can. Tomorrow, it might be me crying about your demise." She said.
Her words made me pity her.
"What's that meant to mean?" Naomi disentangled herself from Obinna's hold as she stood up.
"If you know, you know." Tweet shrugged and left the class.
Making Naomi look like a fool.
Sarah, one of her cohorts, chipped in to lessen the pain. "Surprisingly, she didn't act like the common street dog we know her as."
Naomi hissed and left the class.
"What's going on here? Get to the hall, everyone." Our form teacher - Mrs Beauty ordered.
When did she get to the class?
I stood up and left the class with Adanna at my tail.
"Goat! See how you bolted out of the class like a mad woman." Adanna panted, her big bust going up and down.
"I want to secure a good table." I said.
"Let's go," She held my wrist and followed me to the hall.
Golden ribbons and colourful balloons were fixed at strategic points.
Well, it would only take soon, for the latter to start bursting when the fan will be switched on. Plus, the mischievous students who will find pleasure in destroying them.
Students were already seated. Chatting away as they observed everything they wanted.
Obviously, it was only we the SS3 students that weren't yet present in the hall.
Until now.
A hand slipped around my tiny waist. "You look breathe taking."
A shiver ran down my poor spine.
Why did he always such effect on me? Like it was amazing and sometimes, annoying.
He knew it.
Adanna gave a flimsy excuse and left us alone.
Better.
"You weren't avoiding me since you came to school,or were you?" He stared affectionately at me.
How could I talk when his stare made me to be loss of words?
"Nah. You think so?"
He chuckled. "Good. But... there's just one problem."
Hm.
"What is that problem that almighty Dindu can not handle." I teased.
"Well, this pretty dress of you. It shows everything. And I don't want anybody to see anything." He stated.
But what I wore wasn't transparent. It was a velvet short gown that only hugged my figure.
It's not as if I have much hips. It's just the ass.
"Don't wear this again. Aren't you seeing Teddy eye fucking you, already?" He said staring at someone in the midst of two girls.
I followed his eyes and realized that it was Teddy.
"Ah ahn," I smacked Dindu playfully on the arm.
He pouted."What?"
"You love trouble." I said with a shake of my head.
"What on earth is going on here?! Is this a ground of romance or dinner party?" The loud crude voice of Mrs Chinwe, the Biology teacher echoed through out the hall.
"Get seated quickly,or I will discipline you." Everyone including I and my boyfriend found ourselves a nice table.
Soon, eight others, also in SS3, joined us. Making us ten.
"Intel High School students will be joining us in this dinner party. And they would arrive anytime soon. I won't want you people to create any bad impression." Mrs Chinwe stated.
Once she left the hall, it returned back to it's previous state.
If not worse.
"Oh God! Which one is joint dinner party again? I should have just stayed at home." Olamma- the acclaimed prettiest girl in our set, muttered audibly.
"Are you for real? This party will be mad. Just imagine how steamy it will get when the other school arrives." I retorted.
"You won't understand. I'm actually wearing my elder sister's new dress she ordered me not to wear, before she left for school last month." Olamma explained.
"And she attends Intel High."
"Sorry in advance, then." I laughed with a few others that paid attention to us.
Chelsea walked up to our table. She hissed as she hit her hands weakly on the table.
"Unfortunately, I have bunch of morons as my table members. And I doubt if I can survive it there." She sighed.
"Let's switch, then." A frail tiny girl that wasn't quite noticed in my set, volunteered.
Chelsea sighed again. This time gratefully. "I owe you one, Dora."
Wow.
So Chelsea knew her name.
"I didn't know that Standard High admits even imbeciles, until today." Chelsea shook her head as she turned sparing her former table a glance.
"Lol. What happened?"
"Naomi kept on blabbing about how she would have gone to Intel High, if not that her mother didn't want her to be a boarder. You could have seen the voluminous amount of spit she almost drenched me with." Chelsea narrated and almost one at our table laughed.
"Well," Olamma chipped in. "Tolerance matters a lot."
"My sister, if you can tolerate, I can't!" It was clear.
Dindu was playing with my bracelet. He looked adorable.
Just how care free he was!
"Wahala! What's this man trying to do?" Chelsea made me divert from my point of focus to Mr Maxwell - the Economics teacher, who was walking to a section of the hall.
"I'll puke if he should Dj us." Chelsea threatened.
"I hope not." Dindu stopped playing with my bracelet and muttered in reply.
🎶"party scatter, party scatter, party scatter
party scatter, party scatter,party scatter
As they start am, people yappa
they start to dancia
But as i enter
Omo party scatter,
party scatter, party scatter,
party scatter".🎶
"Manageable," Chelsea muttered, darting her eyes here and there.
Many female students left their seats and stood up.
To dance. And whine. And even twerk until they awaken the demons most of the boys were having a hard time caging.
🎶Feel the mama
You know I like you so...
Girl I cherish you
I stand for you
I won't lie to you
But I fit lie for you oh oh
In the night
Girl am down for you oh aha
Oya talk to me oh mama
Bo lorun soro mi dayo with you,
Baby all I seek, I find it in you,
All I seek I find it in you🎶
I placed my head on Dindu's shoulder. But he gently removed my head.
I looked at him with a slight frown.
"Your big head is weighing my shoulder down." He casually replied, while I stared murderously at him.
"Ode." I cursed.
"Junior students get down stairs to your classes. Your lessons will soon begin." One of the teachers announced.
Groans and sighs were heard around the hall. Just how on earth could they have lessons while others were having fun.
"You, what are you still doing there? Get out! Are you waiting for me to yell before you comply?" The teacher raised her voice, a pitch higher as she shouted at one of the junior students.
Well, Good for the Juniors. Better for us.
Grudgingly, the junior students exited the hall with gloomy faces. It was evident that they weren't happy at all.
The hall got a little sane when the Principal entered and called on one of the teachers. He told her something and left.
The teacher looked down casted as she talked with the other teachers who whispered amongst themselves and exited the hall.
"The Principal must have told them to leave." I reasoned.
"Or better still, One of the teachers, precisely Mrs Treasure, is dead." Chelsea added.
I was thrown aback. "Why will you wish for such?"
"That woman is heartless and annoying. If English is not compulsory, I would have long dropped it." She said.
"That reminds of my word exchange with her this morning. She stopped me and asked why I was wearing earrings as ambiguous as this. Imagine!"
Chelsea hissed. "Just because she manages to speak common English."
Just after some minutes of silence, she suggested that we should dance.
Most of us in the table heeded to the suggestion.
I whined and touched Dindu as I danced.
From free style, I danced more intensely in a particular dance step.
When I thought I would rest, another song I vibed to began playing.
🎶Ah! I'll never let you go,
Yeah You letting go,
Yebo! see now I've found another baby, oh
You can pack your load o,
I'll never let you go,
but you letting go,
Why you let me go?
Yebo! I've found the one for me o,
I say Kobe jor I no do o,
Right now I am fine and cool,
Make my money mili military oh
O por o por o por o por o por por por o por por por!
O por o por o por o por o por por por o por por por! 🎶
"Kaima! Take it easy joor." Dindu whined his mouth and I paused, cocking a brow at him.
"I don't like the stares coming your way. Okay now, see! Ain't you seeing how Teddy is staring at you as if you're a slice of cake." He frowned.
"What's with you and Teddy? Leave the guy alone." It was no longer funny.
"But he's..."
I hissed. "Teddy this, Teddy that. I'm sure he's not the only one staring at me."
Again, the principal entered the hall that moment and everyone regained sanity for the second time.
"Please the SS1 students should go back to their classes. The Intel High school students has arrived."
"What's this na?" One of the SS1 students sighed.
"Evacuate the hall for the guests." Mr Val stated and left to call some teachers who drove them out.
They left grudgingly. But we consoled some of them, telling them they would soon be in major senior classes and they wouldn't be sent out again.
Seconds later, the hall welcomed the long awaited students of Intel High who strolled leisurely towards the seats prepared for them.
"My my! The boys look tantalizing." Chelsea licked her lips.
Dindu snorted." Its all about packaging."
"That's it!" Chelsea's voice pitched higher. "Standard High boys can never be well packaged. I bumped into one yesterday and I began to wonder when the school built a zoo and brought in orangutans."
I sighed. Her problem was definitely out of this world.
Even when it was evident that the students of Intel High, mostly the girls, were bored, they refused to come over and socialize with us.
Mtcheew.
In our own school, ke?
I wanted to gossip a bit with Dindu but was stopped when I saw Adanna moving in fast strides towards our table.
Her face dark and gloomy.
"Fuck shit! Are this school boys this mannerless?!" Her mouth ran like tap, once she got to our table.
"Is that why you were using this thing on your chest to ring bells?" Chelsea teased but Adanna gave looked her up and down and hissed.
"Which school? Is it..." I was interrupted.
"It's this stupid guest school o. One tall asshole bumped into me and spilled his drink on me. Worse still, he glared at me and walked out." Adanna interjected.
She continued. "Like...where is that done?"
"Don't tell me you left him to walk on like that. Hm," Olamma said, with a raised brow.
So she had this side of her?
"I thought you were a preacher of love?" I teased.
She laughed softly.
"So," My attention was back to Adanna. "What do you want? There is no more space here."
She rolled her eyes. "I want you to escort me to the restroom."
"As in?" Dindu chipped.
"Free her, lover boy. I'm not abducting her." Adanna told him.
Reluctantly, he released his firm grip on my tiny waist and I got up to follow Adanna out of the hall.
☆~☆~○●○~☆~☆
It was twenty minutes past two at noon.
Many were still in the hall. Some were in the classroom block just like me and Dindu. While a few left for home.
Or so they claimed.
"What's up with the mood?" Dindu pinched my cheeks.
I remained static at the table I sat on.
Honestly, I was drowned in my sea of thoughts. Well,he seemed to be a good swimmer cause he rescued me out of that sea.
"I don't know if it's me wronging you in anyway but I want to take you out now." He said.
I turned quickly to meet his promising gaze. "You aren't kidding, are you?"
"Nah."
"But," My brows knotted in concern. "How will we leave school before dismissal?"
"Watch and see." He said casually.
When we thoroughly mapped out our plan, I smiled like an idiot.
Now was time for action.
I took permission from the receptionist and left the school with an excuse of feeling so ill.
Not just, that my mom travelled and she warned me never to skip my periodic medical check up.
I left the school for Dews Eatery, where I was to wait for Dindu who would simply leave the school compound but then would settle the security men.
The plan was well accomplished. While, I sat on one of the secluded tables at the eatery, I was worried that he would be caught.
A sigh of relief escaped my lips when he slid open the door of the eatery and entered.
His eyes darted here and there. Probably looking for me.
I signalled him and he smiled broadly moving towards the table.
"Naughty girl, why did you choose this table?" He asked while picking up the menu book.
"Privacy. The word doesn't exist for no reason." I pointed out.
He looked at me and I rolled my eyes, ignoring the tingles I felt.
We ordered Fried rice with turkey. Then he bought me snacks before we left.
All bills were on him. And he didn't seem bothered as he payed the cashier the purposed amount.
"So...you are feeling better now?" He asked once we crossed the road.
I shook my head.
He sighed. "What's the stress?"
"You. A kiss. I want a kiss." I blurted out thoughtlessly.
Ehn?
I didn't just say that. Did I?
Silly girl! There's definitely a reason why people say 'think before you talk!', I scolded myself.
He noticed my discomfort. "You asked for it. Brace yourself baby."
A beautiful smirk made it's way to his sensual lips.
"We are outside. Comport." I bit on my lower lip.
He laughed.
"So?"
"So don't kiss me here. Maybe later." I retorted.
"You still want the kiss?" He chuckled.
I glared at him. "Of course!"
