"That place really sucks." David sighed falling back onto the grass looking up at the sky. "The workers there probably don't even really care, considering we snuck away so easily." Jasper looked down at his friend with a small smile. "I don't think it's that bad, Mr. Campbell is really nice. He said as we grow older the more likely it is that we get adopted." David looked over at Jasper . "Well that's a dang lie."
"Hey those dangs are boomerang's." Jasper said finishing braiding the flowers he was gathering. David sat up turning his body to face him. "Jasper what happens if it really is a lie? What are you going to believe then?" The young boy sitting across from him looked down at the flowers in his hand. "Well if we don't get adopted then we'll be friends forever." He smiled at David. "Then we could leave together." He sat up on his knees putting the crown of flowers on Davids head. He looked up at Jasper feeling content. Maybe the Orphanage wasn't as bad as he thought. He smiled widely "Promise." He held out his pinkie and Jasper took it in his. "I promise."

It was a late night, the room was pretty dark besides the small amount of light Jasper's flashlight gave. The two where in the room they shared both sitting on David's bed. "I overheard Mr.Campbell today, he was saying that he was trying to leave to take care of some business. What are we going to do Davey?" Jasper looked worried and concerned. "Maybe he's hiding something from us? Mr. Campbell is always locked up in his office." David told him.
A knock at the door startled the two, they both rushed into there own beds, acting as if they were asleep. The door opened slightly letting in the dim hallway light. Once the door closed David opened his eyes looking over at where he knew Jasper's bed was, although now he couldn't see anything in the dark room. "We'll figure something out soon." He whispered to him "Goodnight Jasper"

It had been a couple of days since they last talked about the situation with Mr. Campbell. David hadn't got the chance to talk to Jasper when he woke up that morning, he got out of bed and Jasper's bed was empty. He was confused the Orphanage was quiet and no one had woke him. This was something quite unusual since one of the workers would usually wake everyone up in the morning for breakfast.
As David walked around the orphanage he heard Mr. Campbell's voice. He stopped in his tracks when he was in front of Mr. Campbell's office. His conversation with Jasper replaying in his head, as a child he was naturally curious to what the man had been hiding. As he stepped closer there was a woman's voice from inside. "I hope you'll think about my offer. " A lady in all white pulled open the door. David looked up at her, her piercing blue eyes meeting his blue-green ones. The blonde woman smiled at David ruffling his hair. "I hope to see you soon." She said before leaving.

"Davey what are you doing inside. All the other kids are outside, doing whatever you kids do these days. " The small boy looked up at him. "Who was that lady Mr. Campbell?" Cameron stayed quiet for a moment looking around before speaking up. "Your a good kid Davey. So do me a favor and keep your mouth shut about it and it won't be a problem, got that?" David nodded. "Good now you should go play like the rest of the children" he patted his head and David ran off to find Jasper.

As soon as he got outside Jasper ran over to him. "Where here have you been? I've been waiting for you all morning. " He looked at him a bit confused. "I was in bed, no one woke me." He pouted his eyes look down at the boys LA gear light up shoes. Jasper lowered his voice. "Well that's because this morning, I managed to get Mr. Campbell's office key. Now we can see what he's hiding. " He smiled pulling out the silver key and showing David "During dinner well both sneak away and- " he was cut off by David. "I'm not sure we should..I think I changed my mind."
David remembered back to what Mr. Campbell had told him, he was  doing a favor for him and plus everything would be alright as long as they were together. "If Mr. Campbell were to know about this he wouldn't be to happy about it." Jasper held the key in his hand. "Geez Davey, what's your major malfunction?" Jasper looked confused as he watched David's expression, the small boy crossed his arms "I thought you hated the orphanage and wanted to leave ?"
At that moment he wanted to tell him, but he also didn't want to be know as the kid who couldn't keep a secret. "But no one here actually cares for us here, I thought we were always going to be together through things.."

Of course they were, it's just David looked up to Mr. Campbelll. He believed he couldn't leave the orphanage because he actually cared for them. "Fine I guess your to much of a square." The olive haired boy crossed his arms. "I am not a square!" Your the biggest square I've ever gotten the chance to know!" Jasper gasped. " Well if that's how you feel I guess we're not friends." He turned so his back was to David. "I guess not..." He told him back his voice almost cracking as he turned away so Jasper couldn't see his eyes filling with tears.
