Rin PoV

Later that day, Aoko went back to talk to Mephisto and Yukio went with her. About half an hour later, they all showed up at the dorm.

"Sir, are you sure this is a good idea?" Yukio was asking.

"Of course it is!" Mephisto responded, "This is the best way for the two of you to keep an eye on her. We still don't know how 'under control' she is. There is no telling what will happen if we put her in the regular girls dorm."

"Wait," I ran to meet up with them, "What are you talking about?"

"Mephisto wants to have Aoko stay here," Yukio sighed, "In the room next to ours."

"What!?" I asked.

"Well what else do you expect me to do?" Mephisto responded, "You are the only ones who know this about her. We are planning to keep the secret about her like we did with you, but hopefully this time it'll stay secret."

"Bu-" I started.

"No buts!" he interrupted, "You came to me for help, well I'm helping. I do know what I'm doing you know."

"Like he** you do," I mumbled. Yukio elbowed me in the side to tell me to shut up.

"Anyway," Mephisto continued, ignoring my comment, "This is where you'll be staying."

He opened the door to the dorm room next to ours. It looked identical to ours on the inside. Same two beds, same two desks, same layout completely.

"You can move all of your things in as soon as you're ready," he told her, "Your classes start up on Monday."

"Ok," she replied shyly, looking at the ground, "Thank you."

"The Okumura brothers will help you with anything else you need," with that said, he left.

"Hey!" I yelled, "Don't volunteer me for this!"

"Rin! Just help!" Yukio instructed, "Can we help you move your things in?"

"I don't have anything," She sighed, "Its like I told you. I got kicked out of my house. I have nothing."

We just stood there. I hadn't thought of it that way either. She had absolutely nothing.

"Well, then why don't we go buy you some things to put in your room?" Yukio asked, "I have some money saved up for emergencies and I think this constitutes as one."

"Really?" she asked, "You mean it?"

"Sure," he smiled at her.

"Oh, Okay!" she smiled, "Thank you so much!"

"Hey!" I yelled, "We need to talk man!" I dragged Yukio back over to our room.

"What is it now Rin?" He asked annoyed as I shut the door.

"Are you really going to take her shopping all day?" I asked.

"Yes, we are," he answered, "It's our responsibility to look after her. And plus think about her."

I stared at him blankly. He was getting really serious really fast.

"Rin, we're the only family she has," he looked me straight in the eyes, "You and I have each other. She has nobody else to turn to."

"Okay, okay, I'll go!" I rubbed my eyes hoping to cover up the fact that I was actually tearing up at that statement, "No need to get all serious on me like that!"

"Good well let's go," he smiled and headed towards her room. He knocked on the open door out of courtesy. I never really understood that. I mean if the door is open why not just go in. But he knocked anyway, "ready to go?"

"Just about," I could see her making her bed ever so delicately. She smiled every second she was looking at the bed. I couldn't even imagine what she had gone through in those past months. Living alone, with no bed, trying to find someone who could spare even a scrap of food.

At this time it occurred to me, she hadn't had a job in all these months. She couldn't buy food. How on earth did she have enough to eat? This was the first time I noticed it. I could clearly see every vertebrae in her spine when she bent down making the bed. She was grotesquely skinny. So skinny that there is no way she hadn't nearly starved to death. Her face was pretty pale too. There was no way she was healthy. I was filled with a feeling that I didn't know how to describe. It wasn't pity. It was more than that. I think for the first time I was feeling actual concern for someone other than Yukio, my classmates, and all the guys back at the monastery. Like sure I had saved people before and I was worried for them which is why I helped them but this was different. Actual, genuine concern for her wellbeing. A feeling I had never felt towards someone I just met.

"Hey Yukio," I lean over and whisper in his ear, "While we're out can I pick up some extra groceries? I wanna make a nice dinner tonight."

"What why?" He asked.

I motioned my head toward her in hopes that he would notice the same thing I had. He nodded in reply so I assumed he got the hint.

So we went out and she shopped for hours. Of course we also bought her a school uniform to wear to class. But Yukio also let her get some other clothes because he had the money for it and she didn't have any. She also got some school materials for her desk like pencils and pens and a couple notebooks. Finally we made it to the grocery store where I bought enough food to make a meal fit for a king (Yukio wasn't all too pleased with it, but I got Aoko on my side so he was outvoted).

When we finally got home I got straight to work on dinner, creating every dish you could think of. It took me about two hours before everything was finished but in the end I had five different dishes for the three of us. I realized that this was probably a bit much but we could eat leftovers for lunch the next day plus I knew that Kuro was probably going to want some too.

"Thanks for the food!*" we all said in unison as we sat down to eat.

"Yukio, Rin," Aoko said shyly

"Yeah?" Yukio smiled.

"Thanks," she looked up at us, "for everything you did for me today"

We just smiled and nodded in reply. Although I really wanted to say. It's because I really care about you. But care wouldn't be the right word. Concern. That was the word I was looking for.

*Trying to stay as true to the anime as possible I felt the need to include this which is the English translation for "Itadakimasu" which is said before meals in Japan.

Ahhhh!!! Hi friends! So so so so sorry about not updating! There were multiple reasons for that but I'm back now! School is almost over so I may be writing quite a bit in the upcoming months! Thank you all so much for your interest in my story. Like you have no idea how much it means to me! I'm almost at 1k reads on this story already after only 3 chapters! 😱 (I have had only 2 stories reach 1k before and that was after 10 chapters and 23 chapters) Like when I first started this story I only had about 30 reads after the first two chapters so I kinda left it alone for a while I updated it once more but it was very low priority. Well now look where we are! I leave it alone for a while and it blows up! I've had so many requests for updates lately so here you go guys! I hope you enjoyed and thanks again to all of you lovely readers! I should have more on the way soon!
