Chapter 3 - Help!
Yukio PoV
I didn't know what else to do. The only think I could think to do was go to Mephisto for help. The only thing that we knew for sure was that she was our sister. We couldn't know for sure that anything else was true. For all we knew she was working for Satan. But Mephisto would have something to do with her.
"WHAT!?" Mephisto was surprised, "You mean to tell me you two have a sister!? More importantly that Satan has a daughter!? It just seems a bit far fetched."
"What? Do you need proof or something," Rin scoffed.
"Calm down Rin," I said calmly, "That's why we brought it, isn't it?"
"Brought what?" Mephisto asked. I grabbed the sword and he looked shocked, "Kurikara!"
I drew the sword. Instantly all three of us burst into flames. Mephisto was speechless. His jaw dropped to the floor. I put the sword back into the sheath and we all went back to normal.
"Well," he started once he had finally gained his composure, "This is certainly unexpected. I'm honestly not sure what to make of this."
"We took her here because you should know what to do!" Rin yelled, "You're not just another exorcist. You're the only one who can help us with this!"
"Why is he the only one?" Aoko asked me.
"Because he's a demon too," I explained.
"What!? He's a demon!?" She yelled.
"Oh, well why don't you just scream it from the rooftops for the whole world to hear," Mephisto walked closer, "In case you can't tell I'm trying to keep this on the down low."
"S- Stay away," She backed away from him slowly, "Stay away from me!"
"Huh?" Rin, Mephisto, and I were all a bit confused.
"Oh!" I finally realized what was going on, "I think I get it... Are you afraid of demons Aoko?"
She just nodded in reply. At first all three of us just stared blankly at her. She was so oblivious. Then I could hear Rin and Mephisto burst out in laughter behind me.
"Afraid of demons!" Rin laughed, "It's so ironic!"
"She's... Afraid... of demons," Mephisto stuttered between gasps of laughter, "That's hysterical!"
"W- What's so funny?" she asked sounding angry but still scared.
"Will you guys cut it out!?" I screamed. They calmed down, "Miss Kaneshiro, I think there is something you don't quite understand."
"What do you mean?" she asked.
"You said that you knew about us right?" I asked, "Us being the... sons of Satan." I paused slightly before I said it. Even I hated to admit it. But every so often you have to face the truth.
"Yes, what about it?" she seemed confused
"And with you being our sister, that makes you his daughter," I tried to explain it.
"Yeah. I don't think I understand what you're trying to get at," she was oblivious.
"He's saying you're half demon!" Rin was getting annoyed, "Seriously! Did the ears, fangs, and tail not tip you off? I feel like it's kinda a give-away."
Her eyes widened with shock. She began stumbling backwards like she was about to collapse.
"Rin!" I yelled running to catch her,"I was trying to break the news GENTLY! Now look what you've done!"
"It's no big deal!" he argued, "She was gonna find out anyway. It's like pulling off a bandage, you've gotta do it quickly."
"Tch!" I rolled my eyes at him, "Are you ok, Aoko?"
"I-I'm a..." she stuttered, still shocked, "d- d- d-..." She couldn't bring herself to say the word.
"Well, to be fair," I tried to comfort her to bring her out of this, "We're only half demon. And this really means nothing. It's actually quite simple to live as a human. You should know. You've been doing it for quite some time now. If my understanding is correct, you and Rin both had the demonic power from the beginning. When Mephisto locked up Rin's power in the sword, he must have unknowingly put yours in there too. So when Rin first drew the sword, not only were his powers released, but so were yours. If you had been like me, you probably wouldn't have these powers, even now. I mean I just got mine a month ago by the coincidence of mixing mine and my brother's blood. So you wouldn't have them. You likely got yours when Rin first drew Kurikara. So you have been half-demon since then. I promise, nothing is going to change. There is no difference now that you know this."
She nodded. This information seemed to calm her down a bit. She was still scared though.
"Honestly, I don't understand why you are so surprised," Mephisto added, "I mean you had to have seen it coming. You said you knew that you were the child of Satan. I find it hard to believe that you hadn't pieced it together by now. The only question left now is, given this information, would you be willing to become an exorcist and fight demons?"
"What?" Rin and I asked in unison.
"Well, of course," he replied, "That's why you brought her to me, right? You want me to help, well I'm helping. Besides, the best way to keep her safe is for her to become an Exorcist. Think about it. What was the one reason The Order let you two live? It was because you were beneficial to them and proven to not be a threat. If she doesn't become an exorcist, there will me no way to prove to The Order that she isn't a threat. She could easily be exterminated."
"Exterminated!?" Aoko yelled, "What do you mean?"
"I mean that if they find out about you and we can't prove that you aren't a threat to them," he began to explain, "They will likely kill you."
"Let's just calm down for a second!" I suggested, "There is no reason to get ahead of ourselves! This can't be our only option. We can think of some-"
"I'll do it," she mumbled, cutting me off.
"I'm sure we can find something else to do," I assured her.
"No!" she persisted, "I'll do it. I have to."
"Excellent!" Mephisto exclaimed, "I'll have you enrolled in Mr. Okumura's exorcist class by tomorrows class. You'll have some catching up to do, but Rin and Yukio can help you with that on your own time. Being in his class will be the best way for us to keep an eye on you. Now, I hate to cut this short but I have a meeting to get to. Good day."
