Team 7: Late to the Party
<Le present>
"Hey kids." Kakashi swung down from the tree, waving and grinning under the mask. "Sorry I'm late, I got caught up on the path of life."
He was met by three very, very angry glares.
"Cut the crap, sensei, we all know why you're late." Naruto groaned, folding his arms to his chest.
"Oh yeah?" Kakashi leaned against the wall of the bridge.
"Yep." Sasuke remarked shortly. As usual.
"What made me so late?" Kakashi raised an eyebrow.
"You stayed up all night reading Icha Icha Paradise and decided to sleep in because you were tired." Sakura said, turning around and leading the way to the training grounds.
Kakashi opened his mouth to counter, but realized that his student was right. "Well.... how did you know?"
"Kakashi." Sasuke sighed. He was a man of few words (very, very few words), but he decided that this was a special occasion. "You've been our sensei for 9 months, 17 days, 13 hours, 244 minutes, and 42.6 seconds. I would think we'd know you better by now."
Needless to say, Kakashi was at a loss for words.
"It speaks!" Naruto shouted gleefully, while Sakura and Kakashi stared in awe.
"Hn." Sasuke smirked and looked away, digging his hands deeper into his pocket.
"It doesn't speak." Naruto deflated, his smile turning to a defeated face.
"Oh, shut up, baka." Sakura punched Naruto in the head, causing him to cry anime tears and rub the giant lump on his head. "Okay, sensei, what are we doing today."
"Well..." Kakashi looked at his students. "To be honest, I didn't really plan this out."
"WHAT? DATTEBAYO!!!"
< The next day>
"Hey guys. Sorry I'm late, I got caught up."
"SHUT UP, YOU SHITTY SENSEI!" Naruto screeched, drawing his kunai knife.
< Le day after that>
"AHHH, squirts. What are you doing here?"
"Kakashi-sensei." Sakura trembled with rage. "What day is today?"
"OH. Well, sorry I'm late, I guess."
< Le 3 weeks from then>
"Oh. Hello. Wasn't expecting you today."
"HOW did we manage to get the worst sensei ever?" Sasuke muttered to Naruto and Sakura.
"Beats me." Naruto shrugged.
"I honestly have no idea."
"Today, we're going to be learning the art of................... (Drumroll please)............ TEA PARTIES!"
<10 years later>
"Hey guys, sorry I'm late, I got caught up on the wild path of life." Kakashi cocked his head with a grin. "What'd i miss?" He whispered to Sakura.
"The entire ceremony, baka-sensei!" Sasuke hissed resisting the urge to chidori his useless sensei.
"--- you may kiss the bride." Tsunade-sama said, causing Naruto to grin and kiss Hinata on the lips.
The whole room erupted in cheers, Kakashi cheering the loudest.
He sat back in his chair. "He's finally growing up." He wiped a few tears, making Sakura and Sasuke gape. "I should let him borrow one of my Make Out Paradise books..." He added thoughtfully.
Sasuke spit out his wine, Sakura's jaw dropped to the floor.
"You wouldn't!" Sasuke coughed, glaring at Kakashi. "He's enough of a perv already!"
"OI, NARUTO!!!" Too late, Kakashi was up out of his seat and waving an orange book. "I GOT YOU A WEDDING GIFT!"
"WELL, THANKS, KAKASHI, YOU REALLY DIDN'T HAVE TO-- OH MY KAMI!"
Sakura winced and covered her ears.
"It will really come in handy!" Kakashi was saying, nudging Naruto. "Especially tonight." He winked and turned around, waving over his shoulder. "Well, have fun, you two!"
Sasuke and Sakura exchanged a glance. "We have got to get that book back."
"Good idea..."

<Back to the present>
"So you're telling me that we're learning about how to kill someone with a tea-spoon in a few weeks?" Sakura said skeptically, examining her sensei, who was sitting in the grass.
"I already know how to do that." Sasuke yawned, laying back and staring at the clouds.
"Of course you do." Naruto mumbles. "Sasuke-teme probably knows how to kill someone with Ramen."
"There are actually 3 options for ramen." Sasuke said, with his eyes closed. "1) Force feed them until they either can't breathe or they blow up. 2) Strangle them with the noodles. 3) pour the super hot ramen all over their head continuously for 3 hours straight."
"I'm not really sure if I should be scared or impressed." Kakashi whispered to Sakura.
"Scared." Sasuke opened an eye and smirked. "You should be very, very scared."
"Erm, class dissmissed!" Kakashi said, standing up quickly.
"Hn. Bakas."
<3 years later (they're 16)>
Sasuke looked at the silver, glinting spoon in his hand, glaring at it. "So I'm going to kill Orochimaru, with a spoon?"
"Yea." Suigetsu smirked. "What an honorable way to go out, huh?"
"Remind me to strangle you after I kill the snake-bastard."
"Hey, hey, boss, I'm just doing my job." Suigetsu said. "Besides, I though you knew how to use that thing."
"Oh, I do." Sasuke smirked at his teammate. "Wanna see?"
"NO THANK YOU."
"You sure, Suigetsu?" Sasuke said, walking over to the blue-almost-white haired man. "Because I'm more than happy to test the spoon out on you first before double-crossing Orochimaru-sensei, that is."
"Oh shut up." Sui rolled his eyes. "You need me to get your revenge on Itachi-sama, teme. Cut the bull."
"Don't. Call me that." Sasuke hissed, for once sounding like the ultimate snake sannin himself.
Sui shook his head, trembling slightly. He knew Sasuke missed his Team 7 friends every day, never admitting it.
"But you're right." Sasuke leaned back. "I do need you. Now go get my sword, will you? Orochimaru deserves an honorable death, even if he's a homicidal sociopath with a craving for jutsu." Sasuke shook his head.
Sui snickered silently. 'Look who's talking.' He thought, smirking.
"Now, we have a snake to catch." Sasuke said, taking his sword and used the chidori to make it light up.
"Then, I'm coming for you, Itachi."
<3 weeks after the present>
"Today, we're going to be learning the art of................... (Drumroll please)............ TEA PARTIES!" As soon as Kakashi declared that, he felt Sakura, Sasuke and Naruto all facepalm. "What? It's an important art to learn! Especially if you're killing, like, an old person, or something."
"Excuse me, 3rd Hokage? Can we get a new sensei? This one's broken." Naruto asked innocently, making Sakura giggle and Sasuke's ever present smirk grow slightly wider.
Kakashi groaned. "You three are helpless."
"Says the one who's about to teach us the art of............... (drumroll please)........." Naruto said, in his best Kakashi voice, "TEA PARTIES!"
"I hate you brats."
"Nah, you love us." Sakura laughed, hugging her sensei quickly. Kakashi was slightly shocked, but patted her pink head and smiled under the mask.
"NOW," He continued. "I'm gonna teach you how to hold a cup while concealing a kunai."
"Nope, still crazy." Naruto whispered to Sakura and Sasuke.
"Onto plan B, then." Sasuke grinned, twirling his kunai rather impressively.
<6 weeks from the present>
Kakashi looked at his watch. The kids had told him to meet them at Hokage mountain, on top of the 4th's head.
They were late.
And even worse-- Kakashi was on time.
Kakashi was on time, and his normally pristine students were late.
Whaaa?
<3 hours later>
"Oh, hey sensei!" Sakura smiled and waved, completely ignoring the fact that they were 3 and a half hours late.
Kakashi shook himself, he'd fallen asleep waiting an hour or so ago.
"Sorry we're late, we got caught up in the path of life." Sasuke smirked, shoving his hands into his pockets.
"And it was such a beautiful day, we just had to stop by the Sakura tree and look at the blossoms." Naruto added. "And then when we left, we were ABSOLUTELY STARVING, so we stopped and got Ramen..."
Kakashi sighed angrily, cursing himself for not expecting this. "Okay, I get it. What did you need?"
"Oh, nothing, Kakashi-sensei!" Sakura grinned. "What, can't we say hi to our favorite teacher once and a while?"
Kakashi's eye twitched and he was fully aware of the anger that pulsed through his body, making him visibly tense up.
"Oh, and we haven't seen YOU in ages! What with us being gone three weeks, ya know? And we just love hanging out with you." Naruto was really pushing it and he could tell, but he just loved teasing Kakashi so much.
"So you are telling me," Kakashi took a deep, angry breath. "That I was here for three hours, THREE HOURS, waiting for you, thinking you wanted something important, when all you wanted to do was say hi?"
"Well," Sakura said slowly, "To be honest, we really didn't plan this out." She said.
"Huh?"
"We just got caught up." Naruto added.
"What?"
"Well, sorry we're late, we guess." Sasuke finished, causing Kakashi to mentally facepalm. They were quoting him.
"Okay, guys, I won't be late again." Kakashi sighed, rubbing his aching forhead.
"Okay." Naruto laughed. "We don't believe that for one second, but okay." Then they disappeared in a puff of smoke.
"SHADOW CLONES?" Kakashi growled. "Those three are gonna get it."
"OH, hey sensei!" Sakura, Sasuke and Naruto flipped down the mountain and onto the face of the 4th. "What'd we miss?"
"I'M GOING TO GET YOU THREE!" Kakashi scowled, standing up.
"Uh oh." Naruto said.
"Run." Sasuke whispered, and they did just that.
With their crazy, procrastinator, irresoponsible, angry sensei hot on their tails.
