Sasuke

The next morning I slept in late. Naruto and I had ended up talking until early in the morning. It was fantastic. I felt nothing but calm when sitting next to and talking with him. I had forgotten all about my engagement to Sakura and actually started thinking about a future with him instead.

I know that could never happen though. I belong down here in the sea and he belongs on land. The two of us can never be together because of that. There was a knock at my door and a few seconds later my sister Mashi came in.

"You've been in bed all day". She said as she swam over and sat down next to me. She had a red tail and long dark chestnut brown hair like our papa.  "Late night"? "With Sakura"? "Make me slap you". She laughed. "Then with who? I know it wasn't with Shikamaru, Neji or Sai".

"I was talking to him above shore". "The two of you finally met each other"? "Yeah, I even bought a ring earlier today and gave it to him. It was completely by accident, I had no idea I was going to see him". "Don't let Sakura find out".

"It's a male ring. She probably thinks it's for me". "What does this mean for the wedding"? "I don't know. All I know is that I want to hold him in my arms at night and be with him. If I could marry him instead of Sakura I would".

"You know how dad and papa feel about us having relationships with the people on land". "I know, I know. It's just, my heart hurts when I'm not with him. I've been secretly watching him for year's hoping that pull I feel towards him would go away but it hasn't. If anything it's getting stronger".

"I'm sorry Sasuke". "I'm afraid of hurting him. I know I should stay away from him and disappear again but I can't. He was so happy to see me again last night. I don't want that look in his eyes to go away".

"You care about him that much huh"? "Do you think I'm crazy"? "Of course not. You can't help how you feel...........There is one thing you can do though". "What's that"? "Were allowed to go up to the surface. If you wanna walk around in the sun with him you can. It'll also be a good way to surprise him".
"You may have a point". "I know I do. Now go".

Naruto

Gaara: I'm outside

Naru: Be right down

I jumped out of my bed and quickly dressed myself in a shirt, jeans and shoes. I told mu brother bye and that I would be back later.

"Hey".

"Hey".

We took off walking together. Him with his hands in his pockets and me walking beside him with a little space between us. "I saw him you know, my old friend that is"? "Did the two of you talk"? "Mhm, we talked for most of the night".

"Did he say why he had to leave"? "His family moved away for a few years but they're back now". "I see. When do I get to see him"? "I don't know, he's not very social". "Does Deidara and Ino know"?

"No, you're the first person I ever told, besides Ino will probably make fun of me again for it". I said while absentmindedly playing with the ring Sasuke gave me. "Where did you get that from"? "He gave it to me last night while we were talking. It's a symbol of our friendship".

"Naruto, that ring looks expensive. I can tell the diamonds are real. What kind of friend gives another friend that kind of ring without there being something more"? "I wouldn't mind if there is". "You barely know him".

"I don't expect you to understand but since the first time we met each other I've felt this instant connection with him. It feels as if I can tell him anything and everything". "You sound like you're in love with him".

"What if I am? Don't you believe in love at first sight"? "I believe in getting to know a person first". "I know enough". "What if there was someone else that was already in love with you and you've known them for a long time"?

"Gaara. What are you trying to say"? I asked looking at him confused. "I've been in love with you for awhile now Naruto". "Gaara i". "You don't have to give me an answer now, I just thought it was time I told you". He said smiling.

I was about to say something when he caught the corner of my eye. I turned my head and saw that his black hair was completely dry and had bangs that covered his left eye. He was wearing a black leather jacket with a white shirt, blue jean pants and black and white jordans.

He made his way over to us and smiled. "Hey Naruto". "H hey Sasuke, I d didn't expect to see you so soon". I could tell I was blushing by how hot my face felt. "I can tell". "This is my friend Gaara. Gaara this is Sasuke the friend I was telling you about".

"It's a pleasure".

"Likewise".

"We were just walking around if you want to join us". "That's ok, I need to get going anyway". Gaara said. "Think about what I said Naru. See you around Sasuke". He turned and walked off.

"I apologize if I interrupted the two of you". "No no it's fine. How were you able to get ahold of clothes though"? "It's a spell all merpeople have to learn once they're old enough to come above land". "I see. I'm glad you came up. I thought I wasn't going to be able to see you again until tonight".

"Nope, the two of us are going to be seeing a lot more of each other". He said smiling before he leaned in to kiss me. It was soft, gently and I melted into it right away.

"Was that ok"? He whispered against my lips. "It was more than ok". "Is this too fast for you"? "No, I feel it as well". "Good". He pulled away, gently grabbed my hand and walked off with me. I didn't care where we were going just as long as he was there with me.
