Neji

I was exhausted as I waited for Hiashi to get back from his meeting with the Uchiha's. It was mid day but he had me up all night tending to clan business. I was just ready to get home to my wife and son and hold them both in my arms for a while.

"There you are Neji". "Lord Hisashi". I bowed to him. "How was the meeting"? "It went well. Please go home and inform your wife and Hinata of the news, next week we will be holding a celebratory dinner with everyone from both clans". "Yes sir".

I headed home right away only to find Hinata in the living room with Akira in her arms. "Welcome home Neji". "Thank you, is TenTen upstairs"? She nodded. "She is, she tried to stay up but I made her go lay down, Akira had a bad night".

She gently handed him to me and he nuzzled against me right away. "I'm sorry I wasn't here Aki, daddy's home now. Your ok". I spoke softly as I gently rocked him.

"Try not to blame yourself to much Neji, you know how my father is". "That's no excuse, I dont want Akira to grow up thinking his father doesn't have time for him. I barely had anytime with my own father before he scarified hisself for the clan., lord Hisashi doesn't even do anything to remember him. If it wasn't for me his memory would be dead".

"Things will change, we just need to have faith". She gently placed her hand on my arm. "There is something you need to know, Sasuke's back in town and your father along with Madara and Hashirama have agreed to unite the clans".

"S Sasuke's back"? "Mhm, I'm sure you'll be seeing him around soon enough, now if you'll excuse me". He headed upstairs with Akira.

Hinata

Sasuke's back? I thought he'd at least be gone for another month or so. I thought he would try to stay away for as long as he could so he wouldn't have to see me and be reminded of everything we lost.

Flashback to two years ago

I was in my room studying up on clan techniques. During training earlier father pointed out the areas I needed improving on. I wanted to start as soon as possible but with my regular clan duties I didn't have much time for that.

Neji and Hanabi both say I shouldn't put to much thought into what father says and that he's just being hard on me as usual but I can't help it. I can't help but feel the need to please him.

"Hinata". I smiled immediately as I heard his voice call out from behind my window. I turned my head and smiled more as I made my way to the window and opened it. "What are you doing here Sasuke"? "I wanted to see you, come with me".

"I'm studying right now". "Please, I haven't seen you all day". He offered me his hand and I took it. Carefully he helped me through the window, closed it then kamuied us both away from the Hyuga estate.

When we came out of the portal I was amazed to see a beautiful river sparkling underneath the moonlight and stars. Sasuke started taking off his clothes and I did the same before following him into the cold water. It did wonders on cooling down my nerves and letting me focus on being in the present.

Underneath the water was dark but Sasuke didn't allow me to get lost. He held my hand as we swam next to each other then took me into his arms and held me close as we resurfaced.

"I've missed you". "I've missed you too, I'm sorry I couldn't get out of the house". "It's ok, I know it wasn't your fault". I hummed softly as my head rested again his chest. "I love you so much Sasuke". "I love you too Hina, I'm so glad you took a chance on me". "Your not a bad person Sasu".

"Besides my family your one of the few people that actually believes that". "Because its the truth, I will always believe in you my love. You're the only one I want to be with. You deserve to be loved Sasuke, everyone does".

"I will never do anything to dishonor you, fate brought us together for a reason". "I can't wait to start a family with you".

When morning came the next day I was told to report to my father's office right away. I had no idea what was going on or why he wanted to see me so early, all I knew is I had to get there as soon as possible. Once there I knocked on his door and made my way inside after getting permission, what I didn't expect was to see Naruto there.

He was wearing a black tux with his hair freshly washed. "Thank you for coming so quickly Hinata". Father spoke, I bowed. "The reason you're here is because Naruto has asked me for your hand in marriage and I have given it to him".

I looked up at him confused about to say something but Naruto turned me to him and held my hands in his. "I know all of this is sudden but I've liked you for awhile now. Your a great friend and even better person. For a long time I thought Sakura was the one I wanted to be with but I couldn't have been more wrong, it's you Hinata, it's always been you. I'm sorry it took me so long to realize".

"This will be good for the clan Hinata, it is your duty to do what's best for our people".

Do what's best for our people but what about doing what's best for me? Sasuke

"Yes". I whispered. "It's settled then".

"I'm sorry, please don't hate me"! I cried my eyes out as he held me tightly in his arms. "How can I when it's obvious their using you. I know very well the kind of man your father is. I so badly want to go over their and fight for us but that would only cause you more pain and conflict within the village. Just remember one thing, I will love you always".
