Chapter 26: This is War
Allie's P.O.V.
"Luke," I said, poking him in the arm.
He mumbled a response, eyes still on his phone.
"Luke," I complained again loudly. "C'mon."
"What?" he snapped, finally raising his eyes from his phone."
"Talk to me I'm bored," I whined.
"And how am I going to fix that?" he asked, eyesback down on his phone.
I pouted then seized his phone. I was upstairs in his bedroom, and the door was closed. I couldn't even turn the door knob before Luke had me pinned against his door.
"Allie," he said angrily.
"Luke," I played innocent, his phone clutched in my hands, which were held behind my back.
"Givememy phone back," he growed.
"Nope," I said cheerfully.
"Allie," Luke warned, dark eyes flashing. "Give me my fucking phone back."
"Only if you promise to turn it off and talk to me," I countered.
Luke rolled his eyes before grabbing my wrist, making my arms come back around to my front and he snatched his phone before going back to curl up on his bed.
"Just foe that, I'm not talking to you," he said.
I crossed my arms. "Oh come on, you're more interested in your phone than your sexy girlfriend?" I asked, wigglingmy hips.
Luke didn't look up.
"Fine," I mumbled. "I'll go hang out with Finley."
I left his room, making sure to slam the door loudly. I made my way down the stairs, because I knew Eli and Finley were hanging out down there.
"Lee!" I said, seeing Finley coming down the hallway.
"What's up?" she asked, coming to meet me in the hallway.
"Luke is being mean to me, so I left him for you," I explained, brushing hair out of my face and adjusting my glasses.
Finley laughed. "Eli's ignoring me, so I left him for you," she explained.
I laughed. "That's funny, instead of Elley and Lullie its Finlie for the win."
Finley giggled at what I said. "You have a ship name for us?"
"Duh," I gave me a weird look. Doesn't everyone make ship names for them and their friends or am I just getting old? "And you didn't? Wow, I'm hurt, Lee, it hurts right here," I pointed to my chest, mocking pain. "Don't make me leave you too."
"I'm sowwy," she said, hugging me. "Let's just ignore our men and have a girl's day, yeah?"
"I like the way you think," I grinned. "Let's roll."
Finley led me to her room, where I found a pretty blue nail polish sitting on her desk and grabbed it, beginning to do her nails, and told her that she really needed to paint them more often, and she told me that I needed to braid her hair more often, which I just shook off.
"I don't look good in a braid," I dismissed the idea. Plus, it was hard as hell forcing curly hair into a braid and it took too much effort to straighten it then braid it.
"No you do, I'm going to do one right now," Finley insisted, moving to start braiding my hair.
"Your nails are wet," I pointed out, trying to get her to not braid my hair.
She looked down at her hands. "Oh yeah," she said sheepishly.
"Now you can't braid my hair!" I cheered.
"My nails will dry," she said threateningly.
I chuckled at that. Finley, attacking me? Come on. "Come at me, bro."
"You don't think I could take you?!" she said, outraged. "I'd destroy you."
"Aren't you cute," I remarked, grabbing her other hand and painting those nails too. "You think you have a chance."
"Oh, I don't?" Finley said sarcastically. "I think I have quite a good chance indeed."
I snorted. "You have much a chance as Maccas has healthy food."
"Maccas?" Finley paused and questioned, unsure of what I had said.
"McDonald's," my cheeks turned a little pink. "That's what we call it in Australia."
And dammit, the fact that she didn't know what it was ruined a really good comeback.
"So you are Australian!" she exclaimed. "I knew it!"
I chuckled at her enthusiasm. "I haven't been there in a long time. My family moved to America when I was eleven."
"Your accent is fading," she pouted.
"Yeah, I've noticed that," I grimaced, remembering all the stares I got for just talking. "I'm kind of glad; people don't look at me like I'm a tourist anymore."
she laughed. "People looked at you like you were a tourist?"
"Yes," I said, pouting slightly. "They were like- you're Australian! And I was like- I never knew," I said sarcastically.
Finley laughed and I finished her nails with a flourish. She blew on them slightly to make them dry faster as I started to paint my own, deciding I quite liked the color.
"I wonder how the boys are doing," I commented, Luke popping into my mind.
"Probably sparking their bromance," Finley said drily.
I laughed. "Now that's a ship name we need to come up with."
She giggled as I tried to imagine the two names together. "Luli?" she offered
I wrinkled my nose. "No... what about... Eke?"
"Eek?" she said, laughing. "Like a scream?"
"No, Lee, come on, use that brain of yours," I teased. "Eke, like the E from Eli and then the KE from Luke."
"That's an option," Finley agreed. "What about Elike?"
"I like it," I giggled. "It's like, I like but an E instead."
"Do we vote for Elike?" Finley said, raising her hand up in the air. I thrust her fist in the air. "All for Elike? Okay, Elike it is," she giggled.
"What are you two giggling about?" Luke asked suspiciously. He was standing in the doorway of Finley's room, Eli standing a little bit behind him.
"Yours and Eli's ship name," I said cheerfully.
We took one look at each other and collapsed into giggles again.
Luke shook his head and looked at Eli. "Well, man, looks like we have a bromance."
Eli shrugged. "Alright, but I'm not about to hold your hand."
"Me neither," Luke said, looking repulsed then he shook his head as if to clear his mind. "Anyway, we were looking for you guys."
"Yeah," Eli added. "I turned around and you were gone."
"Well, maybe if you weren't ignoring me, you would have seen where I was going," Finley said matter-of-factly.
"And if Luke would listen to me for one in his life, he would have known where I was going," I mock-glared at Luke, who raised his hands in surrender.
"Babe," Eli put a hand over his heart, looking fairly adorable as he did so. "Are we having our first couple's quarrel?"
"You betcha!" Finley said cheerfully. "And it's on like Donkey Kong!"
"What's that supposed to mean?" Luke wrinkled his nose.
Finley and I looked at each other, matching evil grins on our faces. I had a feeling that she knew exactly what I was thinking.
"This is war."
