Rai POV

"Gaara!" I scream jumping from tree to tree following his smell while Sasuke follows me until finally I made it to him.

"Gaara..." I whisper before running to him.

'Yuki please..' I beg the snow spirit inside of me before feeling him take over and start to heal Gaara.

"Don't try to move Gaara. You're hurt badly and your chakra is completely drained. Same goes for you kid. Rai saved your friend in return of helping Gaara. So don't move and wait." Yuki said to the two but I could sense Naruto had already passed out.

"Yuki.. can Rai.. hear.. me?" Gaara asked looking up at me as Yuki healed him.

"She can." Yuki answered.

"Good.. Rai.. I'm sorry." He says surprising me.

"I.. broke our.. promise." My eyes widen as the memory came to me.

"Hey Gaara.." I say causing him to look in my eyes.

"Let's get strong together.. let's be able to protect each other in the future." I say as his eyes slowly widen before he nodded and so did I.

"It's a promise then." I say smiling at him.

"I promised I'd be strong for you but.. in the end you were the only one to keep that promise." Yuki finish healing him and I come back placing my head on his chest.

"You jerk.. why did you have to go ahead and do that now?" I mumble with tears in my eyes as he slowly started sitting up.

"Stop moving, Yuki only healed your wounds your chakra is still drained." I say but he doesn't listen and continues to sit up and then wrap his arms around me making me widen my eyes. This isn't the same feeling as when we were kissing.. it feels.. difference somehow.

"But I did mean it when I said I loved you." I feel my eyes swell with tears as I hug him closer to me hiding my head on his neck and shoulder.

"You're back." I mumble hugging him tight before pulling away.

"Kankuro.. would you please take him? I'll catch up to you in a minute." I say as he looked at me confused but did as told and left with Temari by his side and I look at Naruto.

'Yuki, could you please heal him as a thank you gift?' I ask feeling him take over again.

"You're taking too much advantage of me kid but I'll do it. That was a good fight he showed." Yuki said walking towards Naruto and bending down to heal him.

"What are you?" Sasuke asked but Yuki stayed quiet only healing Naruto a letting me take over as he finished.

"I'm a sand village ninja." I say before getting up and looking at Sasuke.

"Take good care of him.. until next time Naruto Uzumaki." I say before I started jumps following my teammates scents.

"Hey Granny.." I say looking at her causing her to look at me.

"Have you ever heard the name Shi?" I ask causing her to raise a brow.

"Where is this coming from Rai?" She asked, I had just became a chunin with Gaara, Kankuro and Temari but something was still nagging in my head after Gaara told me he wanted to become a Kazekage.

"There's something I didn't tell you when I got back.. from my kidnapping." I say taking a seat as did she sitting in front of me just waiting for me to continue.

"They used to talk a lot in front of us, talk about their experiments and taunt us.. one of their taunts towards me was telling me that the Kazekage was the one to sell me to them.. that because he was the one to do so I would never be rescued.. and they were right. I had to escape by myself. But they also told me something I didn't know and didn't understand at the time either." I started before taking a breath.

"You've always told me stories about my father but.. what about my mother? How did I get here? Did you ever met my mother? Is she dead? I just.. Gaara's mother died giving birth to him and his father was an ass.. my father is a rouge ninja but I never knew anything about my mother and I never thought to ask." I say with a sigh and granny got up.

"Where are you going?" I ask but she continued to walk away before coming back with a piece of paper in her hands.

"I don't know how you got here, all I know is that Sasori was probably the one to leave you on my doorstep because this letter was addressed to him and not me." She said before handing me the piece of paper and I look at it before looking up at her.

"Go on, you can read it." She said and I look down at the letter opening it.

'Sasori, I'm sure you're surprised. Finding a baby at the hide out you live in, this letter is to tell you that this little baby girl is your daughter. 9 months ago you and I had a drunk one night stand, trust me I would keep the girl if I could but unlike you I can't betray my village. I'm a powerful ninja who constantly needs to be on the move, having a baby with me will only complicate things and her life may be on the line. I want her to live a nice life and even though I know you can't give her that I know that you can find someone to give her that life. "My mother wrote this?" I ask looking up at Granny as she nodded.

"I'll let you to read the rest on your own. I never told you about your mother because in that letter are other instructions that you must follow. What you're about to read will make you understand why I never told you about your mother until now." She said as she walked away leaving me alone with the letter.
