Rai POV

"You're mad if you think I'm fighting and leaving Gaara's safety to you. There's just no way. There are more ninjas following us and there's more than a probability of them going around the fight catching up to the two of you and if that happens Gaara won't be protected. So you figure out which one of the two of you stays." I say adjusting Gaara on my shoulders before jumping away from the Uchiha deflecting his attack. Soon Kankuro followed me and a smell came to my nose. There's another one.

There's the Uchiha, Naruto, that annoying pink haired girl who's name I didn't bother to remember, a dog I don't know.. the new smell is the one with the bugs. The one Kankuro didn't fight. Soon Sasuke caught up to us as did Temari but I ignored them and continued to jump with Gaara. Soon Temari followed and I noticed the bug kid was with Kankuro and Sasuke was following Temari towards us.

"Mhm.. Rai? Put me down." Gaara said from my side as I stop on a tree putting him down.

"How do you feel? Yuki healed your wound so you shouldn't be feeling pain just exhaustion." I say cupping his cheek but he suddenly glares behind me and I knew why. Temari was only about 5 feet in front of Sasuke.

"I don't know what scheme you sand village clowns have got going, but I'll stop it no matter what it is. Besides.. I'm dying to see what you really are." Sasuke says from behind me but all I see is Gaara's face breaking before he screams.. this is going to far.

"Gaara.." I say trying to touch me but he takes my hand.

"Get away from me! I don't want to hurt you!" He said as I bite my lip but move away. He can't stop it.. not now. I lean on the tree taking a seat next to him. If he's going to rampage I'm going to stay here and try and keep him at this stage.

As the fight continued Sasuke actually got to hurt Gaara's hand in an exchange and got to the branch I was sitting on.

"You are his weakness." Sasuke said looking at me and I look up at him.

"What if I am?" I ask raising a brow.

"If I get rid of you-" I stop him.

"Which is impossible, but if you somehow even manage to hurt me his rampage will grow and he will continue to transform into his demon. The only reason I haven't stopped him is because he wants to defeat you so badly he went this far.. because in a way you and him are the same." I say looking at Gaara.

"I try.. I try so hard but in the end he's been betrayed so much in his life and casted aside so many times that just me isn't enough anymore. That is something you cannot fully understand." I say with a sigh before jumping higher into the tree and continue to watch their fight.

It's true.. I try so hard to help him, to make him happy but.. after I came back from my kidnapping something changed. He became colder as did I, he became more ruthless and less like the Gaara I knew.. yet I still believe that I somehow could get back the Gaara I knew and loved. The sweet innocent caring little boy I met before he was betrayed.

Soon Naruto joined the battle after Sasuke couldn't even move. Gaara continued to transform and fall deeper intk the darkness making me clench my fists. Why? Why can't I be enough? Is it because I've always been there along side him? Or is it because he had believe me to betray him before?

As Gaara let his beast to take over Naruto summons a giant toad I bite my lip before jumping towards him.

"Out of all the summonings that exist and you choose a toad." I say sighing at Naruto.

"It's you.." He said as he looks at me and I nod.

"I have one favor to ask Naruto.." I say looking at him in the eyes.

"Please save him." I say letting a tear fall.

"I don't know what to do but.. you can save him. I know you can. Because you're like us, you too are a jinchuuriki and you understand him, you understand his loneliness better than I can.. I always had my grandmother there for me but he had no one.. the one person he believed to be there for him betrayed him and.. Naruto you are the example he needs in this life to tell him that he can fight for others.. that he can let himself love without being betrayed. I wasn't able to do that but you can.. so please Naruto.. help Gaara." I say letting my tears fall making his eyes widen and something in his eyes sparked.

"Don't worry I planed on it." He said as I sob cleaning my tears and give him a thankful smile with a small nod.

"Thank you." I mumble before getting off the toad. Still why a toad?

As I saw Naruto looking this way for the third time or so I tried to followed his line of view to see the pink haired girl. Well she may be annoying but if Naruto is fighting right now for her then.. I guess I can save her as a thank you. I jump towards her until I'm right in front of her.

"What are you doing?! Don't touch her!" I hear Sasuke's voice and I only glance at him before I took a step forward and extended my hand towards the Shukaku body part holding her against the tree redirecting it and throwing it to the ground catching the girl and snapped my fingers appearing next to Sasuke laying Sakura next to him.

"What are you doing? How did you even pull that thing away?" He asked looking at me in disbelief.

"Paying him back for what he's doing." I say as I continue to watch the fight between Gaara and Naruto.

"What he's.. doing?" Sasuke asked and I nodded.

"He's saving my best friend."
