Episode 2- Welcome to CKU

Well there you have it.

Front row seat to my melodramatic life.

So now you understand why I'm sitting in this seat on IcelandAir, flying to Reykjavik, pissed as hell. I mean rightfully pissed off. If It weren't for the fact that my seat was first class, I would have been cursing up a storm.

My own mother.

My own flesh and blood, holding on to this, knowing, I desperately needed to know my origin.

But I had to hand it to Monica Mazama. That lady was born with sealed lips.

The only new piece of information I learned was that my father had no clue she was pregnant. Like she said, a brief 3 weeks fling, Her and grandma had been summoned by the Queen.

Another new tidbit of information.

Maman had never talked about her mother. Ever. Ever, ever. So, I wondered what else she's lied about. If it were just me, I'd been led to believe my entire family was dead. No relations nothing.

"We are dead to them anyways."

"What does that even mean?"

"You wouldn't die!"

Holy shit. Sometimes there are answers nobody needs to seek. Because I just found out when my mother found out she was pregnant with me, my so called newly introduced Grandmother had tried to abort me 2 times.

The third time is when my mother ran away.

"And you didn't think to tell me?"

"I didn't want to bother....to make you feel....I'm your mother." Monica cried desperately. "That's not a part of your story I want you to know."

"Apparently you don't want me to know anything." I whispered back.

"The past is the past for a reason."

With those words uttering from her mouth, I left my mother to go pack. Determined to defy her. Determined to show her just how upset I was.

I always knew my mother was protective.

But I thought that's what came with the package of being an only child with a single mother. I wasn't allowed to sleep over at others' houses. Nobody was allowed to sleep over at our house either.

"Our home is a sanctuary. We must not indulge any evil spirits."

Sometimes I thought she took it too far with her talk of evil and spirits and all that mumbo jumbo. To the point she seemed even hesitant to teach me. But she found out early on that I just had a certain penance for magic.

Now we can attribute that to my apparent fairy gene.

She was forced to teach me. To show me how to channel it. To be in touch with nature, to know how to heal it and be healed by it.

I sighed and reached down between my feet. I stuck my hand in Tiger's cage and he immediately mewed and rubbed against my seeking fingers.

I straightened back up a wave of sadness washing over me. I could be mad at my mother all I wanted but I knew that whatever she did or thought she was doing was out of her love for me.

Still didn't mean, I didn't feel cheated.

Out of a dad.

Out of a history.

Out of apparent powers installed within me.

I guess a part of me always knew that my special paradise wasn't normal. Nor was it a place my mother had of her own. I could sense it, dream it and it brought me peace. Or I could apparently, as proven last night, physically disappear into it.

Which I haven't been able to do again. I tried. But was it anger or fear that made me physically vanish?

Maman hadn't taught me that spell and I saw her troubled eyes as she asked me. "How did you that?"

"I don't know. I just didn't want to be there with you anymore." I answered honestly.

Now so far from home, I kind of regretted my decision to leave so quick. Even though the fault was hers and we could have prepared much earlier on if she hadn't hid things from me. I still missed her. I still wanted her by my side like she would have been if I'd gone to Boston College in three months time.

The goodbye before I passed the gates was the most heart wrenching.

"You don't have to do this. I can protect you." Monica Mazama whispered teary-eyed. "Just like I've done our entire life."

"I want to this." I whispered. "This is the best news I've gotten since being accepted to Boston."

My mom had shaken her head. "Those fairies....they they're not nice..." she whispered urgently. "I spent but a summer with them....they.....they look down on our kind."

I lifted my chin. "Ain't nobody gonna look down on us maman. I'll make you proud. But I have to go."

I knew if she could, she would have cast a spell on me last night to make me stay. But with the fury I felt towards her, that level of trust was not an option she was willing to severe at the moment.

"I'll find out about the threat from here. I'll find a solution, and I'll get you out of that place." she assured me.

I nodded, giving her a final hug, knowing I wouldn't see her for maybe a couple months to a year. I had no idea how long this was or the breaks in between.

I looked down at my phone, the screen cover was both of us on the beach last year. She'd gotten a big head when one of the waiters had mistaken her for my sister. I smiled. She was pretty and I knew she loved me. I knew she wouldn't want any harm to come to me.

I just wish she hadn't lied.

Sighing I brought the phone up to my mouth to leave a voice note that would send when I got service. "Hey maman....wish you were next to me. I'll call as soon as I land.....I love you." I sent it and sat back.

Was right now the time to freak out? Because I seemed on the verge of an actual panic attack. Cielo University. Obviously couldn't find anything about it on the reliable world wide web but can you imagine. A school for fairies? Like did they have wings? Did I not have wings because I was half human? What other type of magic could I do? Could I actually do magic beyond relying on plants and animals? What if I wasn't good enough because I was a halfbreed?

I covered my face and sank further into the most comfortable plane seat I would ever sit in.

Fake it till you make it.

That has got to be my motto.

Worked in the real life with all of my friends. Now I just needed to make it work------"Whoah!" I quickly grabbed my seat as the plane rocked back and forth.

"No worries, this is your captain speaking. We are encountering just a bit of turbulence. We should be clear in about a minute or two."

"Miss Mazama, right this way please." the stewardess stood politely by my seat as if the plane wasn't rocking.

"What?" I asked her. "Which way?"

She gave me a comforting smile. "I believe this is your stop."

I gave her several blank stares.

She held her smile. "Oh, no worries, I'll do it for you. Might wanna grab your cat."

Still confused but needing Tiger for comfort, I picked up his crate.

"Quickly, quickly, don't want to miss the drop off...."

"The drop----"

"Please unbuckle your seatbelt, I would hate to be the reason you miss it."

I watched as she pulled the pen clipped on her lapel and pressed the end and aimed it down the hallway.

I leaned forward to watch but saw absolutely nothing.

"Please Miss. Mazama, this is it young lady. You must enter."

"Enter wha-----"

"Oh I'm sorry dear." the stewardess reached down and grabbed me forcefully. "We've reached the absolute limit and the portal will close in 5-4-3"

"Wait---I don't---" I gasped holding Tiger's crate tightly as I felt a huge rush of air. A sort of adrenaline rush right before doing a death defying act.

I blinked in confusion, seeing the grass on the ground. "Did i die?" I straightened up hesitantly and looked around to what appeared to be a forest. "Are we dead?"

"Miss. Saria Mazama?"

I whirled around to the black stretched car that appeared before me. The door opened. I peered inside to find it empty of driver or passenger. I stared at Tiger, who looked like he'd had a heart attack of his own before we both stared back at the empty car.

"Miss. Saria Mazama, I am DLC504, I am here to ensure your safety to Cielo Kai University. Approximate arrival in 5 minutes . I have already acquired your luggage, please sit in the back and keep your cat in it's crate. I do not want the feline to scratch my leather."

"Talking car." I whispered in shock. I timidly inched forward and peered inside again. Even though I'd concluded the voice came from the radio. "Uhm...hi...."

"Voice recognition verified. Scanning, Saria Mazama, 18 years old, Born March 21st, Aries. Witch from mother's side. Monica Mazama daughter of Leon Mazama estranged princess of the Myene tribe of Witches and Warlocks."

My eyes widened. More information, I did not know.

"Father unknown. Classification: Light Fairy."

"Oh my God..." I whispered. "You knew all that just by my voice."

"I have also done a scan of your persons to make sure I am to collect the correct student. Voices can be altered."

Somehow the car put me at ease as I climbed into the backseat. The door immediately closed.

"Please buckle your seatbelt. Safety first aboard DLC504."

I did just so as I put Tiger's crate to the side. "Talking car huh...."

"Magic meets technology." DLC504 responded as it whirled and sped off through the forest. I grabbed the handle in surprise. "I am a perfect driver. Fear not."

I nodded. "Uh....yeah....okay...." I held on to Tiger's crate. "Uhm can you tell me a little more about the University?"

"Le Cielo University, founded in 1213 after the Burgeon War. It is A place for humanoid fairies and elves to create their own realm without facing discrimination from other supernatural beings. The university is known to create kings and queens and the greatest wielders of magic known to the realms."

I blinked rapidly. "Well if I wasn't lost before---"

"Well I must backtrack, humanoid fairies and elves was a latter addition as before every supernatural being would have been able to attend under strict rules. But after the Fairy massacre of 1692----"

My eyes widened. "Fairy massacre----"

"It was in the fairies best interest to create a safe haven for their kind. Some elves remained to guide their distant cousins, others retreated to the Mountains of Scago. In turn the fairies where once again able to regain population growth and protect themselves. Transforming the land of Cielo Kai into the safe haven it is today."

"Oh how....dandy...."

"We give thanks to our Mighty King Richard whose iron rule has transformed this land. And to our lovely Queen Gayle, whose beauty shines as bright as her lovely heart."

I stared in confusion at the added advertisement for royalty.

"And of course we are grateful for their wonderful son Prince Easton, who will surely rule as loving and just as his father and his father's father and the father before that and before that and----"

"I get it...." I told the car. "Tell me more about...fairies....like what---what are they exactly?"

"Fairies, often confused with Elves, Pixies and Spirits. They come in all different shapes, sizes and appearances, although most known for their beautiful features closely resembling that of humans. The Latin word for Fairy is fay, signifying fate. Meaning Fairies are always in some way intertwined in a person's destiny. Many eons ago they were viewed as mischievous creatures who dabbled in magic. But that changed after the rule of King Bartixanti. He elevated the fairies to the status they are today. He enabled them to discover their true nature. To tap into their magic and protect the world around them. Now fairies are guardians, protectors of the realm. Superior creatures----

"You were created by a fairy weren't you?" I joked.

"Not just any fairy. The great and wonderful Professor Merryweather. Who will be your magic and technology teacher."

"I am thoroughly impressed." I admitted.

"As you should be----aaahh welcome to Cielo Kai University. Your home for the next three years."

I gasped as I stared up at the gates parting to reveal a gothic style building before me that would put the St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague to shame. It was breathtaking. There were several extensions on either side but the grand entrance marked Cielo Kai University was obviously the main attraction. Each pillar was adorned with gargoyles and Pegasus. In the center next to the pool stood a gigantic statue of a man. Maybe a fairy. I don't know, the statue didn't have wings.

"This is-----" I slowly stepped out of the open door, holding Tiger's crate carefully. "Oh wow...I feel like a----"

"Enjoy your stay. I will park and somebody will deliver your luggage to your dorm. Do check me out often Miss Saria Mazama. I do like giving rides anywhere in the approved 4 sectors."

Approved 4 sectors? I turned to the car. "Of course DLC504."

I knew a car was incapable of smiling, but I gave the soft beep I heard as an acknowledgment smile that I remembered it's name. It closed it's doors and drove off.

"Oh my God Hi! Are you Saria Mazama?"

I turned to the excited voice coming towards me. A pale young woman, if she were human I would say of Asian descent. Pink lips, pink short bob with bangs, smiling blue eyes and the biggest grin on her face. Her yellow dress, swayed side to side as she seemed to hop with each skip. "Of course, you're Saria, duh, you look just like the picture."

She held up a picture of me, that I had absolutely no idea how she came to possess because I didn't recall sending any pictures. In fact I seemed to be wearing the same clothes from yesterday. Had that lady taken a picture of me without me knowing? I was looking right at the camera and surprisingly smiling. I don't remember smiling for the picture or any picture but that's besides the point.

"I'm your roommate Isla." She grabbed my hand and shook it eagerly. "Most of us arrived last week to try and get settled in, you know being fresh meat on campus and all. Oh my God, is it true that headmistress Silva had to actually go and collect you? How rad! Also is it true you didn't want to come? Is it scary? Is it because you're a-----is it because you're also a human?"

I blinked, trying to catch all the words spilling forth from her mouth. "Uhm...."

"I'm sorry, completely inappropriate. None of my business. None of my business at all, anyways I'm so glad you're here. We're going to be the bestest of friends. I promise." She took my arm and then shrunk back. "Oohhhh a cat! They let you bring a pet?"

I looked down at Tiger whose head was cocked to the side, sniffing the intruder. "Well they didn't say I couldn't." I replied. "I didn't ask...."

Her eyes widened in fear for a split second but then she shook her head and smiled. "Oh no worries! It's just we fairies don't have....pets...as you call them in the human realm." she hesitantly wiggled her fingers at Tiger but I saw the uncertainty in her eyes. "Oh but he's adorable....what----what's wrong with his eye?"

I chuckled. "Oh nothing....he just has one..."

She pursed her lips and touched her index finger to the bottom lip. "Hummm....I would have gone with Cyclops then....but Tiger, Tiger is wonderful!" she exclaimed. She bent down to be eye level with the crate. It actually didn't take her much. She was a whole head shorter than me. "Hi Tiger! So glad to meet you. I'm Isla, your owner's new roommate and best friend. I hope your stay will be just as comfortable as it was back home."

I shifted my eyes in confusion at Isla talking to my cat as if it was a real human being.

Tiger meowed.

"Great!" Isla beamed standing up. "I think introductions went pretty well, now let me show you the rest."

I nodded as I followed her.

"Here is the main garden, we come here for meditation every morning. It's a requirement. Over there is the combat area, fighter training....there over there behind that building...that's....hummm....I actually don't know what that is." she pouted and scratched her head. "I just got here last week, need to double check."

I gave her a reassuring smile.

"Come back to me on that." she said as she stepped up and the heavy doors simply parted slowly and opened for us. She squealed. "All the doors do that. They scan you and if you're allowed entrance well, they let you enter----" she beamed as we walked in.

I looked up in amazement at the high ceilings the stone walls, the decorative statues. I had expected it to be dark and cold, but the place was illuminated with light and it was warm. The most comfortable temperature I had ever stepped into.

But I did notice that the loud chatter died down bits by bits as students gave us curious glances before continuing on their way.

I also noticed them eye Tiger and then give me another strange glance.

"Okay so over there is the third year hallway, there in the middle the second year and ours is there to the left, the first year hallway." Isla continued. "Here is the grand hall. Whenever there is a meeting of any sort or announcement, we all meet in the grand hall. Over the auditorium for plays and guest speakers. Over there the best place here, the cafeteria. Upstairs that's where the classrooms start."

I looked up at her pointing.

"The third floor is the library----yes---yes take it all in---the entire third floor is the library and it is magnificent. Fourth floor is headmasters office, teachers office, staff lounge and all that-----of yes." Isla turned to me affectionately squeezing my arm. "The building behind the fighter training is the teacher's dorm...that's why I didn't remember...not important." she grinned.

I tried to smile but felt more and more people slowing down to stare at us.

"Oh you must be so tired, I'm just babbling your ear off. You'll learn all of this in no time. Should we head to the first year dorm?" she asked ushering me to the left.

She turned and glared at an overweight guy openly gaping at me.

"Aww the faykae brought a pet."

Isla gasped and whirled around. "What did you just say?" she demanded, releasing me.

I looked at her in surprise. What had he said? It must have been rude. I took a couple steps back feeling heat coming from her body.

"Wasn't talking to you spitfire-------what the fuck!" The guy jumped back as a spark lit up the edge of his shirt. "You crazy ass pyro!" A couple students stepped back as he patted frantically at his shirt, stumbling on to the seat. He garnered some laughter which only seemed to fuel his anger as he roared. He reached out and grabbed somebodies coffee, spilling it on his shirt to put out the fire.

Isla laughed and turned away, in a blink of an eye, the angry girl was gone, replaced with the girl with the sunny disposition that I'd just met.

"That's Brutus...which is funny because he's a brute."

I nodded. "Ahh....thanks?"

Isla stared at me sadly. "Oh you don't-----know------" She shook her head. "Oh Saria don't ever let anybody call you that." she whispered. "It's a complete offensive and demeaning term for somebody who-----who isn't pure...pure fairy. They are considered less than---" She swallowed hard. "But I don't believe that! I mean who cares? I love the inclusivity." she hugged my arm as if to give me comfort. "It's an extremely bad word."

I nodded again. "Okay so it's basically like saying nigger..."

She blinked in confusion. "Uhm....I guess....is that an extremely offensive and demeaning term in the human world."

I nodded again. "Yes, especially to black people..."

"Black...people?" She whispered in confusion. "Who are black people?"

I started to laugh and then noticed this girl next to me was completely serious. "Oh....oh like uhm...you know...black people... like....like me."

She frowned and looked me up and down. "Like your soul is black?"

I snorted. "Uhm no....no like the soul...the color...the color of my skin."

Still confused she looked at her pale hand holding on to my brown arm. She looked back up at me. "Why is the color of your skin offensive or demeaning?"

I opened my mouth and then shut it trying to see how invested I was in this conversation to give her a dose of American black history. "You know what....conversation for another time." I smiled honestly. "I love knowing all the offensive terms off the bat, so faykae you said."

Her cheeks grew red in embarrassment. "Oh you can't say that...." she blinked. "Well....coming from you...you can say it if you want. And to other fairies who aren't pure....they sometimes call each other that in a joking manner....but it's so offensive either way Saria...please don't say it. That's not the first thing I want you to learn from the school."

I smiled. "Oh, so definitely like nigga."

Isla grimaced. "Stupid Brutus, I really wished you hadn't heard that." she sighed and then in a split second beamed. "Oh but our dorm is lovely. Let's focus on happier things." she turned us around and the next step we took seemed to have enveloped us into a whole different wing of the school. A long hallway with doors that were open. People chatting and laughing, coming in and out of rooms.

I looked up at the sign that read: Welcome First year!

"Our home away from home!" Isla grinned, rocking me back and forth. "Come our room is all the way down the hallway----and----" she leaned into me mischievously. "Our brother dorm is a goldmine. It has headmistress Silva's son, Bolt. The absolute most handsome creature in all the realms." she sighed softly as if picturing him. "We also have Prince Easton....please tell me you know Prince Easton. He's the best and also so handsome. And the sweetest guy actually, you talk to him and forget he's royalty. Also there's Mason, but I mean he is handsome but I think he's actually insane."

My eyes widened. "Oh....that's...nice..."

She looked up at me and chuckled. "You'll see once you meet them. So how it's lined up is there are two sister dorms per male dorm. Because we fairies can barely have one kid and then when we do have a kid, it's a miracle if it's a boy." she shrugged and rolled her eyes. "So expect the guys to be treated with a lot more.....reverence."

"Yikes...."

"Oh yeah....so I'm glad our brother dorm is the one with Bolt and Prince Easton. We could have done without Mason but he seems to be anywhere those two are."

I chuckled. "Oh is there....like a love hate----"

Isla actually gagged and I could tell she wasn't faking it. "With Mason? Hell no, you'll see what I mean."

I walked stiffly down the hallway with her because once again we'd become the focus.

"Who is she?"

"What is that the witch?"

"Oh my god, she has a pet."

"How human of her."

"I heard headmistress Silva had to go fetch her personally."

And then I heard the word again. Whispered softly between two girls. "Faykae." they giggled and when I looked up smirked and went back to their dorm.

Isla groaned. "Those are Jolis and Naki." she whispered in my ear. "They are our sister dorm. There's only two of them because they refused to room with Chloe and so as soon as we got here last week, Naki's mother threw a fit and well, let's just say Chloe is our 4th roommate. But we have space and we thought you wouldn't mind taking in somebody else."

I shook my head. "No, don't mind at all." I turned back to the closed room 3. "Nice to know who the mean girls are right off the bat."

"They're just mean because their magic is just alright, nothing spectacular. Besides Jolis plans to marry Prince Easton and Naki wants to marry one of the royal guards...you know since her father is in charge of them."

"Oh...." I smiled as we stepped in front of room 2 and the doors slowly opened. "Interesting."

"WELOME!"

I almost jumped back at the abrupt welcome from the two girls. Flower petals materialized out of thin air and showered down on me. "Whoa...."

"I'm Willow." the first girl stepped up. Her complexion a couple shades lighter with a hint of red. High defined cheekbones, almond shaped eyes. A straight nose and long straight black hair that seemed to reach her waist. She had a crown of flowers around her head. A black tank top and brown cut-off vest which revealed her eagle tattoo on her arm. She wore a short miniskirt but was barefoot.

"I'm---Saria." I whispered almost shyly.

She had a strong presence around her as she shook my hand. Firm confident. Before pulling her hand away, her fingers grazed my palm. She tilted her head to the side with a smile. "You have a connection with mother Earth." She looked me in the eyes. "I respect that."

And I completely respect you and anything else you have to say forever. "Thank you." I smiled.

"I'm Chloe." The other girl stepped forth, arm outstretched. "Last minute roommate."

I shook the hand of the very tanned blond girl before me. Her eyes blues, her features sad but with huge dark circles underneath her eyes.

"Are you okay?" I whispered. "Like those girls are bitches, I'm glad to have you as a roommate."

Chloe's dark pink lips tilted up in a brief smile. "I am. This is just how I look." she pointed specifically to the dark circles underneath her eyes. "I usually cover it with makeup."

I gasped. "Oh my God....I'm so sorry...I didn't mean----"

She shook her head. "No worries." her voice was slow and drawn out when she spoke. She put her hand up and touched the side of my face. "You'll live a very long time. We shall be friends."

I blinked and felt myself nodding. "Uh....uhm thanks....I guess."

"Your room is over there." Willow pointed. "It's actually the biggest room...." she trailed off and looked at Isla.

"But....." I continued looking at my new roommates staring at each other in our grand common area laced with flowers and plants and sunshine. A large couch, pillows, rocking chair and some blankets strewn around. Very homey minus-----a T.V. I looked around in surprise, it's been a long time since I've seen a room without a T.V.

"I've been sleeping on the couch...." Chloe started.

"I am such a light sleeper." Isla spoke quickly. "I cannot have Chloe in my room."

"And I-----just----" Willow shrugged and stared sheepishly at Chloe. "Chloe, I love you, but I know you and that's a no."

All eyes turned to me.

"Uh....well....why doesn't anybody want to room with you?" I asked the girl before me that reminded me 100% of my best friend from back home Maria Lopez-Gomez, if her hair wasn't blond and her eyes weren't blue.

Chloe sighed. "I don't sleep well." she admitted. "Insomnia...maybe....waking up in the middle of the night."

I nodded. "Well....I sleep like the dead so-----"

"YES!" Isla screamed and Willow threw her hands up, more flowers falling from the sky around me.

"Wait...." I laughed. "One you guys gave me no choice, but what if I'd said no?"

Willow shrugged. "We would have gone with late comers get no say."

"I'll be a good roommate." Chloe promised. "Besides, they just came and put the second bed in your room about two hours ago."

I gasped and the girls laughed.

"I got played!"

Isla clapped. "Oh my God, I can feel it." She beamed. "We're going the best of friends. Like the absolute best."

Willow groaned. "Has her sunny personality not gotten on your nerves yet?" she asked me rolling her eyes.

I shook my head. "I love it."

Chloe shrugged. "I give it a week."

"Hey!" Isla pouted. "Anyways, first thing any fairy must do..." She curtsied. "I'm Isla daughter of Lee." She brought out her hand and a small ball of fire formed. "Fire is my specialty."

Willow smirked and moved her hand. The water in the glass flowed out smoothly and twirled around Isla before---

"DON'T!"

Splashing on her head. "WILLOW!"

The tall girl grinned. "Willow daughter of Smith...." she turned to me. "Water...." she somehow sucked the water from Isla's hair and face, making her bone try as she held it in a ball in one hand. "And Earth..." Her hand filled with flower petals.

"Oh my God." I whispered. My little witchcraft was nothing compared to this.

I turned expectedly to Chloe.

She shook her head. "Chloe daughter of Hernandez...No controlling of the elements for me." she said somberly. Her sad eyes lifted up to me. "I pray you don't have to encounter my power....if you can call it that."

"Oh....okay...." I nodded. "Not....ominous at all..."

Chloe cracked a brief smile and our other two roommates nodded solemnly. "No, very ominous."

"And you?" Isla asked happily. "What can you do Saria. You're gorgeous by the way. I love your hair. It looks so soft and what a beautiful color." she touched her own pink strands. "Might need to do something with this color."

"Oh pink looks great on you." I replied eagerly. "Oh and thanks..." I touched my twists out hesitantly. "Well uhm....Saria daughter of uhm...Monica Mazama....uh...I'm a witch....so I uh....I can grow things pretty fast."

All three girls looked at me expectantly.

"Uhm....and like make medicine and spells......" I shrugged. "I uhm...know a lot about plants."

"Me too." Willow said encouragingly. "Great."

"Yeah!" Isla said loudly, seemingly cheering me on. "Nature is wonderful and I think witches are pretty cool...."

They were trying to be nice. I could see it in their awkward gestures and quick glances to each other.

"How many witches do you know Isla?" Willow joked, turning the conversation away from me.

"Uhm...."she brushed off the comment and walked over to put her arm around me. "Only the coolest one."

Willow smirked and turned to me. "If you have fairy blood, you have some fairy magic." she smiled encouragingly. "No need to know what exactly it is yet. That's what we're here for. We'll help you find out what it is and harness it and be able to protect yourself and your kind."

I nodded. "Thanks....I uhm....well actually DLC504 scanned me and said I was a .....light fairy?"

All three girls looked at me and blinked. Their gazes going from the top of my head, all the way to my feet.

"Oh, I see it...." Isla whispered. "Yep...Light fairies are usually really beautiful and gentle."

Willow nodded and smiled. "Very cool."

"Yeah?" I whispered, feeling a little better.

Chloe nodded and stretched her hand out towards my chest. "Yes...." she whispered and slowly put her hand down.

"So I don't know about any of the other fairies here but I spent a lot of time in and out of the human realm." Willow spoke up as she made her way towards me. "And my uncle has these little creatures and I cannot just stand and ignore this cat any longer." she squealed and came up to the crate. "Hi! What's your name?"

"Meow."

"Tiger." I answered

"Tiger." Willow spoke the same time as me.

I gaped at her and then down at Tiger, who looked up at me and meowed. I turned to Willow. "How did---wait you can----did you just talk to my----cat?" I turned to Isla. "Wait you talked to him earlier too."

Isla laughed and brushed it off. "Yeah, but I don't understand animal languages. It's a Willow thing."

"Oh my God!" I turned back to Willow. "You are the coolest person ever."

"Meeeooowww...purr."

She grinned. "By the way, he very much wants to be let out of the crate to check the surroundings."

I quickly bent down and opened the crate, letting Tiger free. He stretched languidly, licked his paw and brushed against my face, tail up before slowly making his way around the apartment.

I lifted my head to the loud gong sound that vibrated through the room.

"That sound means meeting in the grand hall." Willow spoke up. "Let's go."

Isla squealed. "I'm so glad you're here." She grabbed my arm. "Chloe, bless her soul barely talks and just sits there, Willow can be mean and a loner but I just know we're going to get along so well." she pulled me to the door. "Come on."

I laughed at her enthusiasm as we walked out the dorm. The hallway was lined with eager chatting 18-year olds. In front of me was a group of boys. Fit, walking with confidence, laughing with each other. I smiled realizing that I maybe in fairy realm but I had already seen a diverse group of fairies. Well diverse in American standards. Meaning the skin tone amongst the fairies ranged drastically from the short very dark black boy laughing hysterically with his roommate over a joke. To the tall pale white girl with white hair just a couple feet ahead of us.

Speaking of tall and pale. All I saw in front of me was the black shirt of a guy who was an entire head and a neck taller than me. I mean I couldn't just lift my eyes to see his entire profile, no I needed to tilt my chin up to see his soft tousled shoulder length black hair.

How the fuck was a guy tall like this?

My heart raced. I really had a thing for tall guys, especially when I didn't consider myself short at all.

He was so ridiculously tall for no reason, I wanted to climb him.

I smirked and the guy stopped. He moved his head slightly as if listening to something and then turned his head some more to look behind him.

His gaze naturally lowered and I encountered the bluest eyes behind his hooded gaze and full straight eyebrows.

My lips parted. He was pale but he was fucking sexy as shit.

The corner of his lip tilted up slightly into a smile.

Oh... fuck me!

He chuckled and turned back around to his friends.

I blinked in confusion. What a minute...had I said that out loud? I knew I hadn't. I'm positive I hadn't. I wouldn't display all my sexual deviants to the world.

"That's Prince Easton." Isla whispered. "I'll make the introductions after the meeting." she squeezed my arm. "He was so checking you out."

I shook my head. I hope that was it only and not that I had completely embarrassed myself. In fact, I looked up again just to catch a glimpse of him looking away.

Oh boy. Aaron Gordensey who? I had a new crush on my radar.
