Today at Rehearsal
Hello, the Sargent is back, and today I had the most awkward and awesome time at rehearsal! Here is the story.
Lights dim, and the curtain rises.
----------------------------------------------
Okay, so my school os performing The Odyssey, by Thespis, and the Pelopenisian Midwest Regional Third Place Chorus. Basically, it is the funny version of The Odyssey. Anyway, I am in the scene with the Cyclops, and I get to yell at Odysseys, because this is my part. I also have to "escape on the underside of sheep" So, for that part, we play horsey, and we need kneepads. We didn't know that we had the knee pads to use today, so we sat down in the very middle of the scene, and were putting on kneepads. The funny part was that we were neglecting all blocking, and were just saying our lines while struggling to put on these kneepads.
Then at the very end of my scene, we were taking off our kneepads, but still staying in character. So we were just standing there, taking off our shoes to get these knee pads off. I was wearing big boots, and I wasn't expecting to take off my shoes, so I was wearing the craziest socks I could possibly find. They were socks with the separate toes, they were two different colors, and when you put them together they made a picture. This pair just happened to haev a happy face emoji when you put your feet together, and they said LOL on each sock. So I was standing there in a neon green sock, with only one boot on, screaming at Odysseys, and then I still had to put on my other boot, which was going to take a little while.
If you thought that was the end of the story, you are completely wrong, because there is more!
At the very end of rehearsal we all always gather around at the edge of the stage, and listen to notes. So me and one of my friends were sitting together, but it was more that you would think. She was sitting on my lap, like all twelve year old girls d, because we are just amazing. Anyway, so we are sitting on the stage, my friend on my la;p, and the director calls me out, and tells me that I am saying one of my lines wrong. Thats fine, but it is one of the most airhead lines ever. I have to wake up one of my fellow sailors and he says, "Mommy?" and so I respond with "As if," in a disgusted way. SO, that was all fine and dandy, but at the very end I am called out again. Now, I am there with my friends, so, naturally, we are talking. I was asking her about a movie, when I hear my name again. I expected that I was going to get another criticism, which would have been fine because I am looking to improve. Anyway, so I look up, completely flabbergasted, and she just looks me in the eye and says, "Good job, you did amazing out there today," and I am just sitting there with MY FRIEND ON MY LAP!!!!!! And, the awkwardest part of this all is, that they start applauding for me, and I AM SITTING THERE, ON THE STAGE, WITH MY FRIEND ON MY LAP!!!!!!
----------------------------------------------
So that was what happened to me today at play rehearsal. If you have ever had a situation similar to mine, I would love to hear about it.
The Sargent is out, Peace!
