From 2.01 "City of Heroes", in the conference room, Oliver stood in front of the board.

Oliver: (voice over) "My name is Oliver Queen."

From 2.16 "Suicide Squad", in the warehouse district, Jill aimed one gun at a man behind her, and another gun at Alexi in front of her.

Jill: (voice over) "I'm Jill Wright."

From multiple episodes and flashbacks on the island, there were flashes of Oliver and Jill running, fighting, explosions, etc.

Jill: (voice over) "After five years in hell..."

From 2.23 "Unthinkable", on the freighter, Oliver and Jill were fighting with Slade.

Jill: (voice over) "We have come to Starling City with only one goal."

From 2.08 "The Scientist", in the warehouse, Oliver/Arrow and Jill/Sapphire were fighting with Cyrus Gold and Marcus Black.

Jill: (voice over) "To save the city."

From 2.23 "Unthinkable", in the foundry, Oliver, Jill, Skylar, Amy and Sara were suited up. John and Justin were aiming their guns at the League. Felicity was watching them.

Oliver: (voice over) "Now others have joined our crusade."

From 2.17 "Birds of Prey", in the foundry, Oliver, Jill, Justin, John, Skylar, Amy, Sara, Felicity and Roy were here.

Oliver: (voice over) "To them, we are Oliver Queen and Jill Wright."

From 2.23 "Unthinkable", in the tunnel, Raven, Kira/Viper, Aurora/Glacia, Logan/Guardian, Roy (wearing his hoodie and mask), Oliver/Arrow, Jill/Sapphire, Skylar/Athena, Justin, Amy/Ruby, Sara/Canary, Karma/Cobra, Nyssa and the men from the League were walking toward the Mirakuru men.

Oliver: (voice over) "But to the rest of Starling City, we are someone else."

From 2.12 "Tremors", in the warehouse district, Skylar and Roy followed Oliver/Arrow away with Jill/Sapphire in his arms, leaving the flames of an explosion behind them.

Jill: (voice over) "We are..."

From 2.01 "City of Heroes", in the foundry, Jill looked at the knife in her hand. She morphed into Sapphire.

Jill: (voice over) "Something else."

Oliver looked at the arrow in his hand. He morphed into Arrow.

➣ ➣

From 3.01 "The Calm", on the rooftop, three arrows were shot into Sara's chest before she could move, shocking her.

Jill: (voice over) "Previously on Sapphire Arrow."

From 3.02 "Sara", in the cemetery, Justin, Skylar, Josh, Oliver, Jill, Amy, Laurel, Jessica, Felicity and Roy stood at Sara's grave.

Oliver: (voice over from 3.02 Sara) "We're gonna catch whoever killed her."

From 2.20 "Seeing Red", in the limo, Oliver, Skylar and Thea were riding in the limo with Moira.

"There's something about Malcolm that you all need to know," Moira told them. "Malcolm--"

A semi truck drove closer at full speed, ramming into the limo on Skylar's side of the car, making them crash and fall unconscious.

From 2.22 "Streets of Fire", in the train station, a Mirakuru man was about to snap Thea's neck. Three arrows were shot into his back, making him drop Thea without hurting her. Malcolm pulled off his hood. Thea looked at Malcolm in absolute shock.

Thea: (voice over from 3.03 Corto Maltese) "I don't want to hurt, or get hurt."

From 3.03 "Corto Maltese", in the limo, Thea looked at Malcolm. "And you seem like someone who could teach me how not to."

From 3.03 "Corto Maltese", outside  the cafe, Oliver, Skylar and Thea were sitting together.

Skylar looked at Thea. "You're our family. We need you."

From 3.03 "Corto Maltese", in the mansion, Thea kicked Malcolm's sword out of his hand up into her own, putting the sword to his throat, smirking.

Malcolm chuckled. "Looks like you're going home."

From 3.03 "Corto Maltese", in Verdant, Jessica and Amy were talking.

"Amy, ever since it happened, I have had this fire inside of me," Jessica told her. "I've felt this two times before. And there were times where I thought that feeling would swallow me hole."

Amy hesitated for a long moment, frustrated but understand. "Jessica..." She sighed, walking closer. "And I know what you've been through with Sara and Danny, and I know that it's nearly got you killed before. That is the only reason why I'm even considering this for a moment. I will help you, but I don't want you getting hurt."

From 3.03 "Corto Maltese", in the foundry, Oliver, Jill, Skylar, Justin, Amy and Roy were talking.

Nyssa arrived, aiming a bow and arrow at them. "Where is she? Where is Sara?"

Same Day - Day One

Night - Verdant - Foundry

Nyssa still had her bow and arrow aimed at Amy, Jill, Oliver, Skylar, Justin and Roy. "Where is Sara? She came here for the League two weeks ago." She looked at Amy. "She came here with you. We've not heard from either of you since."

Amy hesitated for a moment, regretful. "There's something I have to tell you."

Nyssa realized what she was trying to say, looking heartbroken. "Sara's dead?"

Jill nodded.

Nyssa lowered her bow and arrow.

"I'm so sorry," Jill told her.

"It was an arrow, wasn't it?" Nyssa asked.

"How do you know that?" Skylar asked.

"Where's her body?" Nyssa asked.

"Nyssa..." Justin trailed off.

Nyssa had tears in her eyes. "Where?"

"We buried her in her grave from seven years ago," Oliver told her.

Nyssa walked out, leaving.

Amy turned to face the others. "She knows something. I came back here, and Sara followed me back, and maybe it was for a mission that they didn't tell me about."

"Why wouldn't they tell you?" Roy asked.

"Because of me," Jill answered. "Amy has allegiance to both me and the League, but I don't trust the League. They wouldn't tell Amy because of me."

"I'm gonna follow Nyssa," Amy told them.

"Be careful," Justin told her.

"Relax," Jill told them. "The League are violent, yes, but Nyssa wouldn't hurt her own cousin. Raven, on the other hand, if she's in town with Nyssa... since Nyssa never travels alone..."

"Raven, the assassin that poisoned Jill," Justin remarked.

"Yeah," Amy answered.

"I'll come with you," Jill told her.

Amy nodded. "Okay."

Skylar nodded. "Be careful."

Oliver sighed. "Skylar and I have to go meet with Thea."

Amy and Jill nodded, walking out, leaving.

(Song:) Inner Journey - Sonic Adventure Project

Oliver and Skylar walked toward where Thea was sitting at a table.

"Hi," Skylar told her. They sat down. "Sorry we're late."

"Late is Ollie's 'on time', Sky," Thea told her. "Although, I'm not used to you being late."

"So much for the promise that things would be different, right?" Oliver asked.

Thea smiled. "Relax, it's fine."

"Dinner is on me," Oliver told them.

"With what money?" Thea asked. "Aren't you broke?"

Oliver chuckled. "Um, aren't you?"

"Not so much, actually," Thea answered. "Skylar?"

Skylar smiled. "When we talked Thea in coming back, we had no idea what we wanted to do, and I kind of missed the club all this time. And turns out, so did Thea, and a lot of other people do, too."

"I have investors, and they're going to help us buy back the foundry from Queen Consolidated," Thea explained.

Oliver chuckled. "I'm thrilled for you, that's fantastic." He looked at Thea. "You seem changed. Stronger."

"After last year, I don't see any other way it could have turned out," Thea told them.

"And that's it?" Skylar  asked. "You're not... seeing someone, or..."

Thea gave Skylar an amused look. "Hoping Roy didn't put you up to asking that."

"No," Skylar answered. "We're just trying to figure out why you're so different."

"How about just being my big brother and little sister instead?" Thea asked.

Oliver nodded. "Okay."

Flashback

Day - Street

Jill was in Hong Gong, tailing a man in a business suit, talking through an earpiece. "Target's on the move. He's headed north. He stopped."

"What's he doing?" Maseo asked.

"He's buying ice cream," Jill answered. "He doesn't look like a terrorist."

"The best ones never do," Maseo told her.

"Why does Waller want me to take this guy out?" Jill asked.

"You ask too many questions," Maseo told her. "Follow orders and eliminate the target."

"Oh, so I'm just a gun that she can point at things she doesn't like?" Jill asked.

Maseo was somewhere else in the crowd. "That's exactly what you are."

Jill sighed, watching the man walk away. "He's moving."

"Best not to waste time, then," Maseo told her.

Jill followed the man.

Now

Night - Cemetery

Jessica and Laurel were standing at Sara's grave. Nyssa and Raven slowly approached them. They turned to see them.

"Nyssa?" Jessica asked. "Raven?"

Nyssa knelt at Sara's grave, speaking a prayer in Arabic.

Raven looked at Jessica and Laurel. "You have my condolences."

"We don't want your condolences," Laurel told them. "She died with arrows in her chest. Do you think that would have happened if she hadn't met you? You were the ones that showed her the darkness inside. Both of you." She looked at Nyssa. "And your father."

"I know you grieve, Laurel, but so do we," Raven told her. "We didn't show Sara the darkness, Jessica. It was already inside of her when we met. It seems that it also is in you, Jessica."

"When I found her, alone, starving and terrified, I protected her," Nyssa told them. "I took Sara into my heart, and I loved her with all of my soul." She looked at the jacket that Jessica was holding. "And that jacket, I gave it to Sara as a gift. Neither of you are fit to wear it."

Nyssa walked away. Raven looked at Jessica and Laurel for a moment before leaving as well.

➣

Safe House

Jill and Amy followed Nyssa and Raven to the League of Assassins safe house.

"Saw you two in the cemetery," Jill told them. "You might be right about the darkness inside the Lance sisters, but that conversation didn't exactly make it better."

"Well, the two of you also have my condolences," Raven told them.

"Looks like you're not the heartless assassin I thought you were, Raven," Jill told her.

"I can be when needed, Jill," Raven told her. "Go on, Amy, ask the question you are dying to ask."

"The League sent Sara back here on a mission, and you didn't tell me because you knew that I would tell Jill," Amy told them.

"Are you ready to talk?" Jill asked. "The trail for Sara's killer has gone cold. And we could use your help."

"Whereas we don't need yours," Raven told them.

"Really?" Jill asked. "That's why you let us follow you here? We've gathered evidence, we're working leads. You're visiting cemeteries and hiding in League safe houses."

"We are not hiding," Raven told them. "And it's not our safe house. It was Sara's while she was in Starling."

Amy and Jill started to go through things.

"Okay," Amy told them. "You said Sara was in Starling for the League. That suggests her target is also her killer."

"Agreed," Nyssa told them. "Except it wasn't a target. Sara came to Starling to confirm rumors. Whispers. That an enemy of the League was here."

"Who?" Jill asked.

"Malcolm Merlyn," Raven answered. "He's alive."

Jill looked at them in guarded surprise.

➣ Sapphire Arrow ➣

Verdant - Foundry

Jill, Amy, Nyssa and Raven went back to the foundry to talk to Oliver, Skylar, Justin, John and Roy.

"Merlyn was a member of the League of Assassins," Raven told them. "Ra's al Ghul released him from his obligation to us with the understanding he would abide by its code of conduct."

"You guys are professional killers," Roy told them. "That is a pretty low bar."

"Merlyn's Undertaking violated the League's principles," Nyssa told them. "When you killed him, we considered the matter settled. But we received word from a reliable source that Merlyn faked his demise."

"What source?" John asked.

"Oliver and Skylar's mother," Nyssa answered.

"Yeah, well, Oliver and Skylar's mom wasn't exactly known for her honesty," Roy told them. He looked at Oliver and Skylar. "No offense. I just can't believe that a guy everyone thinks was dead suddenly isn't."

"Neither did I," Jill told them. "Then we found these." She uploaded a camera flash drive onto the computer to show them pictures of Malcolm. "Sara took them two weeks ago."

"Didn't the police find his body?" Roy asked.

"Merlyn had resources all over Starling," Oliver told them. "I'm willing to bet one of them was in the coroner's office."

"Since learning Merlyn was alive, the League has hunted him all over the globe," Raven told them. "Running down every rumor, following every whisper."

"And one of those whispers put Merlyn back in Starling," Skylar told them.

"She tracked him here," Justin told them. "We're gonna retrace her steps."

"You said you found evidence on her person?" Nyssa asked.

"Yes," Jill answered. "Justin?"

"We found a blank piece of paper in Sara's boot," Justin told them. "But why would she be carrying a blank piece of paper?"

Raven looked at Amy, smirking. "Do you have a flame?"

➣

Later, Oliver turned on a flame.

Amy held the paper over the flame, revealing invisible ink, making it visible.

"Unbelievable," Roy told them.

"Our father had a notebook with hidden writing just like this," Skylar told them.

"A notebook he received from Merlyn, I imagine," Nyssa told them. "This is ghost ink, one of the means the League employs for concealing secrets."

"It's Sara's handwriting," Amy told them. "Notes from her surveillance of Merlyn."

"There's not much to go on here," John told them.

"There's a couple of things," Jill told them. "'Jansen' question mark. 'Dad help' question mark."

Raven took the paper to see for herself.

"Sara reached out to Lance," Justin told them.

"If Lance knew Merlyn was alive, he would've told you," Roy told them.

"Only if she told him," Oliver told them. "What matters is what he told her."

"And how do we find that out?" Raven asked.

Oliver and Jill exchanged a look.

➣

Starling City Police Precinct

Lance was speaking to a couple cops. "So, gentlemen, word of advice, next time you arrest a bookie, please make sure the thief is not one of his clients. Now, that's what the chief told me to tell you, okay, but as far as I'm concerned, you just keep doing your jobs." He handed them some money. "First round tonight's on me. Please, get out of here."

The two cops walked away. Laurel and Jessica walked toward Lance.

"Buying rounds?" Laurel asked.

Lance shrugged. "Ah, buying love. The fastest way to a cop's heart is through his liver. How you feeling?"

Jessica sighed, hating to lie to him about what was happening, but was scared that Laurel was right about his health and what the news could do to him. "We're fine. Do you have a minute?"

"Yeah, yeah, yeah," Lance answered.

"We have to talk to you," Laurel told him. "It's about Sara. She, um, she called me." Jessica gave Laurel a look, sighing. "She said that she was looking into something. Something called Jansen?"

Lance sat down at his desk. "Uh, yeah, someone. Ken Zhi Jansen. I hooked her up with his last known address. Sara was here. She asked me not to say anything to you, and I should have. Maybe I should have, I'm sorry."

Jessica shook her head, rattled. "It's okay. She was... she's in a mysterious line of work."

"Oh, yeah," Lance agreed. "One I hope neither of you are getting mixed up with."

"No, we're just doing Sara a favor," Laurel told him.

Lance pointed out the window to show them that Nyssa was in the main room. "And her?"

Jessica sighed. "We'll be right back." Jessica and Laurel walked toward Nyssa. "What are you doing here?"

"Oliver told me of his plan to involve you in the hunt for Sara's killer," Nyssa answered.

"We have a handle on it," Jessica told her.

"Your father doesn't know, does he?" Nyssa asked.

"No, he doesn't," Laurel answered. "And he can't. He has a heart condition."

"He has the right to avenge his daughter," Nyssa told them.

"That is none of your business," Laurel told her.

"Sara was everything I hold dear in this life," Nyssa told them. "It is every bit my business."

"And what would she say if she was here now?" Laurel asked.

Lance walked closer, looking at Nyssa. "Hey, I almost didn't recognize you without your Halloween costume and your friend Raven. Are Raven and Sara back in town, too?"

"Raven is, yes, Sara is not," Nyssa answered. She looked from Jessica and Laurel to Lance. "But she told me to tell you that she misses you very much."

Lance looked at Jessica and Laurel. "The address I gave your sister for Jansen." Jessica took the paper he held toward them. "Now she promised me there wouldn't be any, you know, assassinating. Is that still the case?"

"I assure you, Mr. Lance, the only objective here is justice," Nyssa told him.

Jessica, Laurel and Lance watched Nyssa walk away.

Jansen's Address - Outside

Justin, John, Roy/Arsenal, Oliver/Arrow, Jill/Sapphire, Skylar/Athena, Amy/Ruby, Nyssa and Raven went out to the address. Nyssa and Raven were in their League uniforms.

"This was the next lead Sara was gonna follow?" Skylar asked.

"Jansen's a Buddhist monk," Justin told them. "Nine years ago, he was facing deportation to China. Merlyn bankrolled his defense."

"Jansen returns the favor by giving Merlyn asylum in his garden," Roy told them.

"Monastery," Raven corrected. "We should divide our forces, take up flanking positions."

"I agree," Oliver told them. "But not--"

Raven and Nyssa walked away.

John sighed. "Never understood what Sara saw in Nyssa in the first place."

"Split up," Amy told them. "But be careful."

"Copy that," Jill told them.

They split up, searching the grounds.

Nyssa saw a man, walking closer.

The others were still searching.

Nyssa stood behind the man, drawing an arrow aiming her bow at him.

"Guys, I found Jansen," Justin told them.

Amy saw that Nyssa was about to shoot the man. "Negative, Justin. I have eyes on him."

Justin was standing next to a headstone, with Roy and John. "Whoever is up there is not Jansen."

The headstone read:

This tree honors the life of

Master Ken Zhi Jansen

1961 - 2012

Amy and Jill ran toward Nyssa and Raven.

Raven approached Nyssa from behind, aiming her bow and arrow at the man.

Nyssa stepped closer. "Jansen Sensei. I am Nyssa, daughter of Ra's al Ghul, heir to the Demon."

"Raven Evangeline, safekeeper of the heir," Raven told him. "You will tell us where we can find Malcolm Merlyn, or you will die where you sit."

The man stood, turning to face them, revealing it was Malcolm. "Hello, Nyssa. Hello, Raven."

Nyssa tried to shoot Malcolm with an arrow. Malcolm leaned to the left, making her miss. Raven drew a sword, slashing toward Malcolm. Malcolm ducked, drawing his own sword. Raven slashed toward him. Malcolm raised his sword to block the move. Nyssa tried to shoot him with an arrow. Malcolm ducked. Raven flipped Malcolm to the floor, raising the sword over her head to stab him. Malcolm threw down a flashbolt, blinding them temporarily with light and smoke, making his escape.

When the light and smoke faded, it was to reveal that Jill and Amy were standing there.

"Where is he?" Nyssa asked.

Amy and Jill turned to look outside.

Oliver and Skylar both shot an arrow toward Malcolm.

Malcolm ducked so that they couldn't severely hurt him or take him down, merely nicked on either of his arms by the arrows. He looked between them, smirking, running away, escaping.

Verdant - Foundry

They returned to the foundry to where Jessica and Laurel were waiting.

"What's going on?" Jessica asked. "Did you find Sara's killer?"

"We have a suspect," John told them. "Malcolm Merlyn is alive." Jessica and Laurel looked at them in shock. "Sara was here looking for him. We think he found her first."

"And where is he now?" Jessica asked.

"We're working on that," Jill told them. "He got away from us earlier tonight."

"But not before Skylar and I hit him with an arrow laced with particulate nanotechnology," Oliver told them.

Justin walked toward the computer, sitting down. "Felicity wrote a program that tracks the nanites using GPS."

"A tracer arrow," John told them.

"Yeah," Jill answered.

Laurel looked at Oliver and Skylar incredulously. "You had a shot at Merlyn, and you didn't kill him?"

"Skylar and I tagged him," Oliver told them.

"With a flesh wound," Laurel told them.

"He's marked," Skylar told them. "Nowhere in the world he can go where we can't find him."

"And when you do?" Laurel asked.

"I'm not a killer anymore, Laurel," Oliver told her. "Skylar almost turned into a killer when she was on Mirakuru, but she's not like that, not when she's herself."

"Merlyn is," Laurel told them. "He killed Tommy and 502 other innocent people. How many are gonna have to die before you put him down?"

"You think that's what Sara would want?" Jessica asked

Laurel hesitated, not sounding too sure. "Yes."

Laurel walked away.

"Let me talk with her," Jessica told them.

Skylar nodded.

Jessica walked away.

Amy looked at Roy. "Merlyn may try to contact Thea."

"I'm on it," Roy told them, walking away.

Skylar looked at Justin. "The tracer arrow program."

"You have Felicity Smoak monitoring remote from Central City?" Raven asked.

"No," Justin answered. "She told me an idiot could run it."

John chuckled. "Try very hard not to take that personally."

"We'll hit the streets," Jill told them. "Talk to us when you have his location."

"Copy that," John told them.

Skylar, Oliver, Jill, Amy and Raven walked out.

Flashback

Day -  Hong Kong Street

Jill was still tailing the man through the crowd. She was holding a knife, spinning it in her hand. She walked toward the man, pushing him into an alley, stabbing him in the heart. She let him fall, looking guilt-ridden and self-loathing, picking up his keys, speaking through her earpiece. "It's done."

➣

Now

Night - Verdant - Outside

Jessica followed her sister outside. "Laurel."

"We just found out that not only is Malcolm Merlyn alive, but that he killed ou," Laurel told her. "I'm sure you can understand why I don't want to talk right now, Jessica."

Jessica stopped walking. "I loved her, too." Laurel turned to face her. "So did Dad, and you may be right about him knowing about Sara's death being able to hurt him or kill him, or you may be wrong, but all I know is that everything going on right now is killing me for not being able to do anything about it."

"It's killing me, too, Jess, but we cannot tell Dad," Laurel told her. "And I know that you're not a killer. You couldn't even kill who we thought was Sara's killer, but you did arrest him, because even if he didn't kill our sister, he did kill others. But Malcolm Merlyn deserves to die. Oliver and Skylar should have killed him. If they or Jill catch up with Merlyn, they're going to let him live or let him go. We can't let that happen. We need to get Merlyn. We have to do whatever it takes."

"'We' are not doing anything," Jessica told her. "I'm not letting you get hurt over this. I can't lose you, too."

Laurel sighed heavily, tears in her eyes. "I can't lose you, either, Jessie."

They heard someone down the alley, turning to see Nyssa by the entrance of Verdant, knowing that she had heard them.

➣

Inside

Thea was bustling about the club.

Roy walked toward her. "Hey."

"Grand reopening's not for another three weeks," Thea told him.

"Well, looks like you and Skylar still got a lot more work to do," Roy told her. "Need some help?"

"Thanks, but I don't really think that's a good idea," Thea admitted.

Roy walked closer. "Just as friends, and former co-workers."

Thea sighed, smiling a small smile, holding up a blank painting. "Bonsai green, October mist, or avocado?"

➣

On the Road

Jill was driving on her motorcycle with a helmet on, speaking to the others through comms. Oliver, Skylar and Amy were driving their bikes elsewhere.

"Merlyn stopped," John told them. "We got his position."

"Go," Oliver told them.

"Air-conditioning factory, 18th and Milson," Justin told them.

"Got it," Skylar told them.

"You want us to share this with Nyssa and Raven?" John asked.

"No," Jill answered. "They're liable to put an arrow in him before we get any answers."

Justin nodded. "Agreed."

They made their way to the address.

➣

Air Conditioning Factory

Skylar, Jill, Amy and Oliver got to the factory.

"This place is empty," Skylar told them. "He's not here, Justin."

They heard Malcolm's voice on PA. "Hello. You're absolutely right." He was in an office. "I'm not at the--what is it, the air-conditioning factory? It's a very neat trick you and your brother have, Skylar. Sorry it didn't work out."

Amy was angry and hateful. "When I find you--"

"You absolutely will," Malcolm told them. "We need to talk. But I prefer a venue less conducive to conflict. Nelson Plaza at Coldwater and Fifth. Bottom of the stairs. It's a very public place. You'll wanna leave your masks behind. This should remain between the three of us, Oliver and Jill. We have some old history that we need to put to bed. So if I even see one of your associates, I promise you, you will not see me."

➣

Nelson Plaza

Oliver and Jill were in the plaza, in normal clothing, looking around.

Malcolm walked closer. "Hello, Oliver. Hello, Jill. You've accomplished a lot with this city, I see."

"We're not here to discuss Starling," Jill told him.

"You think I killed Sara Lance," Malcolm told them.

"How else would you know she's dead?" Jill asked.

"These streets were mine long before you laid claim to them," Malcolm told them. "This is still my city. I chose this place because crowds equal invisibility. Besides, I understand neither of you are killing people these days. I mean, Jill, from what I've understand, you've never killed a single person in Starling. But you have killed before, haven't you?"

Jill didn't answer.

"I'm considering making an exception," Oliver told him.

"Ra's al Ghul has placed a blood bounty on my head," Malcolm told them. "Why would I try to get it lifted by killing the love of his daughter's life? It's illogical."

"Sara comes back to Starling," Jill told him. "You come back to Starling. Sara's murdered."

"I came back for the simplest and most noble of reasons," Malcolm told them. "Thea. Six months ago, during the siege she was almost killed by one of--one of Slade Wilson's Mirakuru soldiers. I protected her."

"You're lying," Oliver told him. "Thea made it out before the attack."

"Unfortunately, she didn't make it out," Malcolm told them. "But you two and Skylar wouldn't know that because you were out being... what are you calling yourselves these days? 'Sapphire, Arrow and Athena'? That was the night I realized that Thea needs me."

"Stay away from her," Oliver told him.

"Don't worry," Malcolm told them. "I've kept my distance." He looked around. "Oh, but the world is a dangerous place. And you're too distracted to protect her."

"You're a killer," Jill told him.

"Yes, I am," Malcolm agreed. "But I swear, I swear to you on Thea's life, I am not Sara Lance's killer."

Malcolm walked away.

Day Two

Morning - The Grind and Jolt Cafe

Thea was getting coffee from the cafe. Skylar and Oliver walked toward her.

Thea handed their coffee to them. "From the looks on your faces, you need something stronger than coffee."

Skylar looked at her worriedly. "Are you okay?"

Thea nodded, confused and concerned. "Yeah, are you?"

Oliver sighed, leading his sisters over to a table so they could sit down. "Back in Corto Maltese, we promised you there would be no more secrets, no more lies, and we're trying to honor that."

Skylar nodded in agreement. "We learned something last night that's going to be difficult for you to hear. I think that it's what Mom was trying to tell us the night she died, right before... the night of the siege, you were at the train station."

Thea nodded. "Yeah, I... it wasn't fun. I got attacked by one of those crazy masked things and he tried to strangle me. But he got shot by a cop, I think."

"Did you see him?" Oliver asked.

Thea frowned. "No. Why are you asking?"

"It wasn't a cop, Thea," Skylar told her, sighing hesitantly. "It was Malcolm Merlyn."

Thea processed for a moment that they knew he was alive. "He's dead. How do you know this?"

Oliver sighed. "Two of Sara's friends saw him. They're sure. If he was going to try to contact you, he would have done it by now. Okay?"

Thea nodded. "Thank you for telling me." Skylar nodded. Thea's phone went off. She checked it. "It's, uh, one of my investors. I..."

Skylar took Thea's hand. "Hey, are you okay?"

"Yeah," Thea answered. "I'm... I'm fine. I--it's like Ollie said, Sky; if he was going to contact me, he probably would have done it by now."

They nodded. Thea stood, walking away. Oliver and Skylar exchanged a slightly confused look, noticing that Thea hadn't been completely in shock or angry like they thought she would be.

➣

Verdant - Foundry

Justin, Jill, Amy, Roy and John were in the foundry.

Raven and Nyssa walked in.

"Where's Oliver and Skylar?" Raven asked.

"Out, taking care of some family business," John answered.

"As if there weren't more pressing matters at hand," Nyssa told them.

"They're not doing nothing," Roy told them. "We tracked down Merlyn last night."

Raven looked at Amy and Jill. "Did you kill him?"

"No," Jill answered. "Oliver and I were with him in the middle of a park plaza."

Oliver and Skylar walked in.

"He swore to us he didn't kill Sara," Oliver told them.

"And you know all of his words are lies," Nyssa told them.

"I believe him," Oliver told them. "Because he swore to us on his daughter's life."

Oliver and Jill walked away.

"We had heard rumors Merlyn fathered another child," Raven told them. "We couldn't confirm them." Amy sighed. "You know who it is."

"We do," Amy answered.

"If you put us through the effort of finding out on our own, we might have to exact a price from whoever it is you're protecting," Nyssa told them.

"It's Thea," Skylar told them. "Our sister is Merlyn's daughter." Raven scoffed. "And that is the reason he came back to Starling City. Because she did. He's protecting her."

"And that is why you spared Merlyn, twice," Raven told them.

"It had nothing to do with that," Oliver told them. "He explained to me and Jill, in his own twisted way, that he loves her. And then he swore to us on her life."

"And we swore an oath of our own that we would see Sara's killer brought to justice," Raven told them.

"Raven," Justin told her. Raven and Nyssa walked away. Justin tried to stop them. "Nyssa."

Amy stepped in Justin's way so that Raven and Nyssa wouldn't have to feel like they had to stop him and end up hurting him. "Justin, wait."

Raven and Nyssa walked out, leaving.

"Amy, we have to stop them," Justin told her.

"Do we?" Amy asked. "Listen, I understand why you can't kill Merlyn, all of the reasons. Maybe he killed Sara, maybe he didn't."

"He didn't," Oliver told them.

"Either way, the world is a better place without Malcolm Merlyn in it," Amy told them. "You guys made a vow not to kill. Raven and Nyssa? They didn't. And me? I've been trying to stop killing. And I've been very good at not doing so. But I think Merlyn warrants an exception."

Oliver and Skylar were worried, looking from Amy to Jill, Justin, John, and Roy.

Flashback

Day - Yamashiro House - Kitchen

Jill walked into the Yamashiro house.

Maseo was in the kitchen, cooking.

"Where's your wife?" Jill asked.

"Tatsu?" Maseo asked. "She needed to be someplace else."

Jill sighed. "She doesn't like me."

"You're wrong," Maseo told her.

"She's not happy that I'm here," Jill told him. "Neither am I. I killed a man today. I don't even know the reason."

"Sometimes it's better that way," Maseo told her.

"What, blindly following orders is better?" Jill asked.

"I'm not blind, Jill," Maseo told her, walking closer. "I'm focused on what's most important." He looked into the other room to see his son, Akio, playing a game on a laptop. "You should do the same. It's not our place or burden to know why we carry out our missions."

"I didn't realize having a conscience was a burden," Jill told him. Maseo walked away to cook dinner. Jill sighed, walking toward Akio. "What are you playing?"

"A reading game," Akio answered.

"Oh, yeah?" Jill asked. "Do you mind if I try? I wanna work on my Cantonese."

"Dad said I shouldn't let you use my computer," Akio told her.

"Okay," Jill told him. "Why don't we make a deal, then?"

"You don't have anything," Akio told her. "You're a bum."

Jill managed a small smile in amusement. "Well, this bum has something that you don't have. Height. That stash of candy that your parents keep in the cupboard above the fridge?" She held up two fingers. "I'll swipe you two pieces."

"Five," Akio told her.

"Three," Jill told him.

"Five," Akio told her.

"Fine, five," Jill told him. "Give me the computer." She sat on the bed next to him, taking the computer, putting a flash drive that was on the keys into the laptop. Maseo walked in. "I need a meet with Waller."

Jill took out the flash drive, closing the laptop.

Maseo walked closer. "How did you--Akio..."

Jill stood. "It's not his fault." Maseo walked into the other room. "I need a meet. Make it happen."

"Waller's gonna want a reason," Maseo told her.

"Ferris Air flight 637," Jill told him. "She'll know what I mean."

Now

Night - Verdant - Outside

Thea and Roy walked out of Verdant.

"Thanks for your help," Thea told him. "You really didn't have to do that."

"I like painting," Roy told her. "Actually, it helps me turn my brain off. It feels kind of Zen."

"Actually, I wish you were still trying to get into my pants, because this whole 'Zen, helpful Roy' thing is really freaking me out," Thea told him. They laughed. Raven was in her League suit, slipping down a cloth, landing on the ground. Roy flipped over the hood of a car to get to her. Raven threw a dart into Roy's neck, making him fall. Thea walked closer angrily. "Get away from him."

"I'm not here for him," Raven told her, taking Thea away.

Roy started to fall unconscious.

Loft

Malcolm was looking around a loft. "Thea? Thea, are you here?"

Malcolm looked out of the windows, seeing a smoke signal in the distance, knowing what it meant, walking away angrily.

Verdant - Foundry

Roy was in the foundry with Oliver, Jill, Skylar and Amy, all of whom were suited up but without their masks, Justin, John, Jessica and Laurel.

"So, Malcolm Merlyn is alive and Thea's father," Jessica told them. "Anything else you haven't told us?"

"What'd you get at the precinct?" Oliver asked.

"Not much," Jessica answered, grabbing a tablet. "But I did get this off a traffic camera. It was recorded 10 minutes ago." Amy took the tablet, looking at the footage of smoke being released into the air. "After I struck out on anything related to Nyssa, Raven or Thea, I just looked for strange."

"Well, that definitely counts," Justin told them.

"Our communication system is a little outdated," Amy told them. "It's a smoke signal. Nyssa and Raven are sending Malcolm a message."

"I'm willing to bet my wallet that means 'we got your daughter'," John told them.

"Doesn't matter," Skylar told them. "Video gives us their location."

Oliver looked at Justin, Roy and John. "Secure the perimeter." He looked at Skylar, Jill and Amy. "We'll handle Nyssa and Raven."

"Copy that," Justin told them.

"Guys, this is my fault," Laurel told them. "They overheard me talking to Jessica, and I said that I wanted to go after Merlyn, to do whatever it takes."

"It's okay," Jessica told her.

"I know you're not killers," Laurel told them. "But he is. Whatever else he means to you or Thea... know that."

They set out.

➣

Warehouse

Thea was hanging upside down in a warehouse, looking at Nyssa and Raven angrily. "I'm gonna get free of this, and when I do, I'm gonna kill both of you."

"I apologize for involving you in this," Nyssa told her. "Our quarrel's with your father."

"My father's been dead for years, you crazy psycho bitches," Thea told them.

"Not Robert Queen," Raven told her. "Your true father, al-Saher, the Magician. Known to the uninitiated as Malcolm Merlyn."

"Then you know what he's gonna do to you when he gets here," Thea told them.

"I know he'll die," Nyssa told her. "My father taught us ways to cut a man to make his death last for days."

"Sounds like father of the year," Thea told them sarcastically.

"My father may be the Demon, but yours is the Devil," Nyssa told her.

Two arrows shot through the rope tying Thea to the ceiling. Oliver/Arrow and Skylar/Athena slid closer to catch Thea as she fell, putting her down. They got Thea out of the warehouse.

Jill/Sapphire and Amy/Ruby stood to face Raven and Nyssa.

"Apparently, we handle grief differently," Raven told them.

Raven drew her sword, slashing toward Jill. Jill raised her sword to block the move.

Nyssa slashed toward Amy. Amy ducked, making Nyssa walk past her, spinning to face her, slashing her Sai knives toward her. Nyssa raised her sword to block the move.

Raven slashed her sword toward Jill's legs. Jill jumped up to make her miss, slashing toward her. Raven raised her sword to block the move.

Amy spun to slash her Sai knives toward Nyssa. Nyssa ducked. Amy spun to kick her in the shoulder, making her back away. Nyssa slashed her sword toward Amy. Amy raised her Sai knives to block the move.

Raven slashed toward Jill. Jill ducked, catching Raven's wrist, using it to spin her around, pushing her into the wall behind her. Raven pushed her off, slashing toward her repeatedly. Jill ducked or used her swords to block the moves each time, spinning to slash into her arm.

Nyssa slashed toward Amy. Amy ducked, spinning to slash into Nyssa's legs with her Sai knives. Nyssa slashed toward her. Amy ducked to the side, standing, slashing the knives toward her twice. Nyssa ducked. Amy pushed her into the wall. Nyssa ran closer, trying to stab her. Amy used her knives to block the move.

Raven backed Jill into a corner, slashing toward her repeatedly. Jill used her swords to block the moves, pushing her back, grabbing Raven by the shoulders, twisting her around, pushing her into the wall.

Oliver and Skylar ran inside, using their bows and arrows to shoot the swords out of Nyssa and Raven's hands, making the swords fall to the floor and the fight stop, making Jill, Amy, Nyssa and Raven look at them. Oliver and Skylar kept their bows aimed at Nyssa and Raven, walking closer to Jill and Amy.

Malcolm/Dark Archer arrived. "There's a misunderstanding we all need to clear up."

"A conversation I'm eager to have over your rotting corpse," Nyssa told him.

Malcolm shot arrows at Nyssa and Raven repeatedly. Nyssa and Raven used their bows or swords to deflect and destroy the arrows. Malcolm ran closer, trying to hit Raven with his bow. Raven ducked, kicking the bow out of his hands. Malcolm drew his sword, slashing toward Nyssa. Nyssa ducked, spinning to kick him in the head.

Oliver ran closer to break up the fight. Nyssa pushed him out of the way.

Nyssa and Malcolm exchanged blows with swords.

Raven kicked Skylar away from the fight.

Nyssa kicked Malcolm in the back. Malcolm slashed toward her repeatedly. Nyssa used her bow and sword to block the moves, slashing into his cheek. Malcolm used three arrows to shoot into Nyssa's clothing, pinning her to the wall, readying to shoot her in the head.

Raven slashed her sword through the arrow before it could kill Nyssa, raising her bow, using the raven beaks on the forefront of the bow to cut into Malcolm's face as she swung the bow to hit him in the head, snapping him to the side, raising her sword.

Nyssa yelled out to stop her. "Raven, stop!" Raven halted her sword. "He's mine to kill."

Taking advantage of Raven standing down due to Nyssa's order, Malcolm shot three arrows into Raven's clothing to pin her to the wall.

Amy slashed into Malcolm's back with her Sai knives, making him fall before he could kill either of them, standing over him with her knives in each hand, breathing heavily.

Oliver and Jill walked closer, careful.

Nyssa looked at Amy, using her birth name from the League. "Do it, Annalisa. He killed Sara. Tommy. He will corrupt Thea."

Malcolm took off his mask. "There is blood on my hands. Almost too much to contemplate. But none of it is Sara's."

"Amy, kill him," Raven told her.

"I did not kill Sara," Malcolm told them. He looked at Amy. "Ra's doubted both your loyalties and Sara's the moment you both came home. You know your uncle, Amy, what he is capable of. He will kill without hesitation. Do you really need me to tell you what he'd do to the degenerate who'd steal his daughter's heart?" Nyssa struggled angrily and desperately. "It doesn't look like your sister believes me, Jill. What about you, Oliver, Skylar? What about your sister? If you don't believe me... let her kill me. Let Amy kill me."

"Amy..." Jill trailed off.

Amy struggled with the decision for a moment, lowering her knives.

Malcolm stood in relief, turning to leave. Oliver and Skylar kept their bows aimed at Malcolm when he turned to them.

Amy threw one of her knives into Malcolm's shoulder, making him groan in pain. "You may not have killed Sara... but you're still a murderer."

Malcolm struggled to pull the knife out of his shoulder, throwing it back at Amy.

Amy caught the knife before it could impale her face, glaring at Malcolm.

Malcolm sighed. "What are you gonna do? Arrest me?"

"We could have SCPD here in three minutes," Skylar told him.

"And in half that time, I will escape from whatever prison they put me in," Malcolm told them. "You know that." He looked at Nyssa and Raven. "And so do they. We were trained by the League. No prison can hold us. Not even your one on Lian Yu. Which leaves you with only one option. To break your vows... and kill me." He looked at Oliver and Skylar. "Kill your sister's father."

No one made a move. Oliver lowered his bow, putting his hand on Skylar's bow to lower hers.

Malcolm made his escape.

Verdant - Foundry

Oliver, Jill, Skylar, Justin, Amy, Nyssa and Raven returned to the foundry with John, Roy, Jessica and Laurel.

"Is Thea okay?" Roy asked.

"I spoke to her," Skylar told them. "She's fine. Doesn't know who took her or why."

Nyssa punched Oliver in the face.

Oliver sighed. "I may have deserved that."

"You deserve more," Nyssa told him.

"Um, what's going on?" Jessica asked.

"Merlyn didn't kill Sara," Jill told them. "Which means whoever did is still out there."

"You're fools who insult the memory of a woman they once loved," Raven told them.

"We will honor Sara's memory by finding and punishing the person who did this," Justin told them. "The real person. So long as Malcolm Merlyn is in this city, the League will make no move on him."

Amy walked closer. "Nyssa, you may be the daughter of the Demon, but I am the niece, and I still have a little say in what goes on in my city. Raven, if we are wrong about Merlyn, I will kill him myself, and I won't hesitate." Nyssa and Raven didn't like having to wait, though they knew that it was a good compromise. "Now go home."

Nyssa and Raven walked out, leaving.

"Are you sure?" Laurel asked.

"If we weren't sure, we never would have let him go," Jill told her. "I promise."

Felicity walked in. "What did I miss?"

Flashback

Day - Warehouse

Amanda Waller and Jill were meeting in a warehouse.

"I hate Hong Kong," Amanda told her. "And I hate trans-Pacific flights. And do not even get me started on the topic of being summoned by one of my operatives."

"Ferris Air flight 637, Paris to Hong Kong nonstop," Jill told her.

"You, Oliver Queen, Shado Fei and Slade Wilson prevented that flight from being shot down over Lian Yu," Amanda told her.

"Were you watching us?" Jill asked.

"Via Keyhole Hexagon satellite," Amanda answered. "How else was I supposed to know you possess the capabilities I require? That business with the freighter last year? Impressive. Are we done?"

"Just getting started, actually," Jill answered. "Adam Castwidth. The man you had me murder. He was Edward Fyers' handler. And he worked for you."

"You're out of your depth, Miss Wright," Amanda told her.

"I don't think that I am," Jill told her. "I think Mr. Castwidth had a USB drive detailing everything. I think he knew you told Fyers to shoot the plane down. And I think that you wanted him silenced."

"And the world thinks you dead, Jill," Amanda told her. "The convenient thing about dead women is that no one tends to believe them."

"Yeah, what about dead women who make arrangements to get the information on that USB drive in the hands of every blogger and journalist in this hemisphere?" Jill asked. "If anything happens to Maseo's family or Oliver Queen, then you're gonna spend a long time testifying in front of the Senate subcommittee."

"The world's a much more complicated place than you realize," Amanda told her. "Edward Fyers thought he was to shoot down that plane to destabilize the Chinese economy. In truth, I wanted to take out a single target."

"So you blow up a plane full of innocent people to take out one man?" Jill asked incredulously.

"No, to take out one woman," Amanda answered, showing her the picture of China White. "Chien Na Wei. Two years ago, we had our only chance at her. And you saved her life, and the lives of two Chinese Triad twins that she uses to her gain, blackmailing them to do her bidding. Karma and Kira Mahageni. And let's just say 'blackmailing' is the least she does to these twins. And now they're in Hong Kong. I need to know why."

Now

Night - Gym

Laurel was training in the gym, punching a bag repeatedly.

Jessica walked closer.

"Finish training with Amy again?" Laurel asked.

"Amy doesn't want me to get hurt, but she's willing to help me work out some anger so that I don't get myself killed," Jessica answered. "I already had some experience because of the cop thing and training in this place since way before I became a cop. And you're barely getting started. Amy thinks that I can help find the killer."

"It kills me that he's still out there," Laurel admitted. "Merlyn, someone. It kills me."

Jessica nodded. "Me, too." Laurel went back to hitting the bag. "Don't forget to turn your hips. It's where the power comes from."

"Jessie, you're gonna be training me, too," Laurel told her. Jessica scoffed softly, but Laurel cut her off before she could say anything. "I know, I haven't been training on any kind of fighting, not as long as you have. But I need to know what you know. You're right, Jessica. I don't have the experience or knowledge that you do, but that's why you're gonna teach me. And if you turn me down, well, I'm just gonna have to go out there without your help, won't I? I can't imagine what could happen then."

Jessica gave Laurel a look for pulling that card, sighing.

Police Precinct

Lance was in his office, leaving a message for Sara on his phone. "Sara, sweetie, it's, uh, it's me. Look, I know you said only call this number in an emergency. And it's not. It's not, everything's fine. But I just... I just want to hear your voice." He looked at the picture of Sara, Jessica and Laurel on his desk. "Look, I know wherever you are, you're looking after yourself. But, you know, that doesn't mean I don't worry. So, you know, you don't have to call me back or anything, just... I just want you to remember that I love you."

Lance hung up, still looking at the picture of his three daughters, sighing.

(Song:) Vapour - Vancouver Sleep Clinic

Thea and Skylar were cleaning up at Verdant. Oliver walked closer.

"Are you okay?" Skylar asked.

"It's not my first time being kidnapped," Thea pointed out.

"That's not what I meant," Skylar told her. "I never imagined you and scrubbing unless a spa treatment was involved."

Thea chuckled.

"I spoke to Jessica," Oliver told them. "She doesn't think those women are going to bother Thea or any of us again."

"Why did they come after me in the first place?" Thea asked.

Oliver shrugged. "Maybe they thought the Queens still had money."

Skylar sighed, tired of all the lies. "I wish."

"Thank you for checking in on me," Thea told them.

Skylar nodded. "We're always going to watch out for you. Always."

Justin walked closer. "Sorry, guys, I didn't mean to interrupt."

"I was just leaving," Oliver told them, walking away.

Thea smiled, looking at Skylar. "Yeah, I think I have to call one of my investors, anyway, Sky. I'll be back."

Thea walked away.

Skylar looked at Justin, chuckling. "Yeah, they do not know the meaning of smooth or subtle."

Justin smiled. "I thought you had guys for cleaning."

"It's kinda Zen," Skylar told him. "Well, you have that worried look on your face."

"Yeah, worried about you, Skylar," Justin admitted. "I know letting Merlyn go was not an easy thing for you, and I know that you can't hurt him or kill him because of Thea, but you don't want to let him get away with anything if he did kill Sara."

Skylar sighed, turning to him. "Justin, everything is just so screwed up right now."

Justin nodded in amused agreement. "Things usually are screwed up for us, Skylar."

Skylar chuckled. "Yeah, you're right about that, Just. Thanks for checking in."

Justin walked closer. "Sky, I just wanted to make sure you're okay. With everything going on, everyone is asking everyone but you if they're okay. Figured you needed someone to ask if you were okay."

Skylar smiled, happy, content and touched. "Thank you. You know, we're both busy with Team Sapphire Arrow, but we both also need money for life outside of Team Sapphire Arrow. Thea and I are working on the club again, and Thea offered Roy a job here again, and if you need help with the day life portion of our lives while we're vigilantes for the night life portion of our lives... we could use an assistant manager."

"Really?" Justin asked in amusement.

Skylar nodded, smiling. "We need somebody who knows the place as well as we do. And both you and me know this place better than Thea does, considering that this is the base of our operation. I mean, vigilante life does not pay the bills."

Justin smiled. "I'll be honored to help you with the club."

Skylar smiled, wrapping her arms around Justin's neck. "Yay."

Skylar and Justin looked at each other, smiling, kissing slowly and passionately for a long moment, pulling away, leaning their heads together, smiling.

Outside

Thea was walking outside Verdant, answering her phone. "Hi."

Malcolm's voice was on the other line. "Are you safe?"

"I am now," Thea answered. Malcolm was in his home. "Are those women gone?"

"For now," Malcolm answered. "And your brother and sister?"

Thea sighed. "They're completely in the dark. They don't know a thing." Malcolm smirked at the irony that Thea was just as much in the dark as they were. "But thank you, Dad."

"For what?" Malcolm asked.

Thea smirked. "For taking care of me."

"I promised you, Thea," Malcolm told her. "I will never let anyone hurt you."

Day Three

Morning - Nanda Parbat Castle

Raven and Nyssa returned to Nanda Parbat to speak to Ra's al Ghul, kneeling down, pulling back their hoods.

"The rumors were true," Nyssa told him. "Malcolm Merlyn is in Starling City."

"There is a sadness in your voice," Ra's told her.

"Ta-er al-Sahfer," Nyssa told him. "She has fallen."

"Sara Lance is dead?" Ra's asked.

"Yes," Raven answered. "Struck through the heart with an arrow."

Ra's put his sword in his sheath. "At Merlyn's hand?"

"That remains to be seen," Raven told him.

"What of Alyanna and Annalisa?" Ra's asked.

"Jill and Amy, as they like to call themselves," Raven told him. "Your nieces... you were right about them. They defended their friends with honor, longed for justice for Sara. Though they could not kill without proof of guilt."

"If that is true..." Ra's trailed off. "Then they are not far off from where we want them to be."

"Jill and Amy are not ready, Father," Nyssa told him.

Ra's smirked barely. "They will be."
