The months that Passed
A/n: Since there was year time-skip I thought of making a chapter where we see bits and bots of what happened during it. Like a sort of Re-cap chapter.
------------------------------------
Calvin's POV
I notified the doctors of the development. They called over Kurahashi and he was in tears at the sight of the success. They asked for a blood sample of Yuuki's blood, so readied a needle to draw blood.
"Yuuki, I'm gonna draw some blood. They want to see if it's really working." She nods so lightly I could've missed it. She was still tired and her body hadn't produced enough energy to do many actions. I take the blood sample and hand it to the nurse. "We did it Yuuki...we really did it"
---
A while later, I called Asuna to tell her about the development.
"Asuna, good news-actually the best news yet. Yuuki's healing!"
"Is..is that what I think you mean?"
"Yes"
"Oh my..Calvin this is not a joke right?"
"If you don't believe see it for yourself." I turn on the facetime application. "Yuuki, can you guess who this is?" She looks up and smiles brightly at the sight of Asuna.
"Oh my Yuuki. Your looking so much better. I-I'm so happy. Oh Calvin, thank you-thank you so much"
"Don't only thank me Asuna, thank Yuuki and all the doctors here. They helped in everything"
"Oh please thank them for me. I'm just so glad she is cured now"
---
Over the weeks, The Kurahashi had Yuuki got through some physical therapy. Her muscles were weakened from a years of no use so we had to strengthen them till she could move by herself. I was recommended to help out. The therapy started out simple with the nurses moving Yuuki's arm and legs in certain motions and stuff like that. When ever we stretch her back, we had to be very careful and keep her head up. She was like a baby, their neck bones are still too weak to hold up their head. Yuuki would probably pissed if I had said this aloud. Maybe laugh too.
---
Yuuki's POV
All of this is just so tiring. I know I'm like the first person to recover from AIDS but, all of this physical therapy is kinda getting annoying. Calvin still cheers me on so I guess it's not that annoying. Speaking of Calvin, I think the physical therapy is getting to him. What I mean is sometimes when we meet up at night he's moving my arm in the therapy motions and doesn't even realize it. It's kinda funny. He'll be in a daze moving my arm and when I snap him back to reality he gets all apologetic. It's kinda cute too. The physical therapy is actually working too. As the days pass I can feel my muscles burning a little. It probably means they're getting overworked but, it's getting stronger. Soon enough I'll be able to move around myself.
---
Speech therapy had to be the worst therapy I had to go through. I couldn't pronounce words to perfection and they made me repeat them over and over again. Though one side up was that Calvin helped me out. He would always cheer me on and when I messed up on a word he made me repeat it once before moving on so it never really got boring.
---
It probably been almost two or three months but, the doctors finally gave me my own room. (I sound like a seven year old finally getting her own room.) Asuna would be able to visit and I could even decorate it to make it look like mine. Speaking of which, Asuna had visited me recently and boy did she get teary-eyed. She burst out crying her eyes out in joy. It wasn't bad or anything, even I started crying again. I was just so happy to be able to feel the real her, her warmth and her heartbeat.
---
Around the same time I heard that Siune was getting better too. They laid off her medication a bit and soon her conditions started to fade. She would able to get discharged from the hospital soon. It feels so coincidental but...maybe me and Calvin's love is spreading to others? I mean, I got healed through our love..maybe Siune did too?
---
Christmas Eve was filled with cheer when a tan skinned Santa came around and gave all the kid patients a small goody bag of toys. Even the adults got a small goody bag of cheer. I could see their smiles. They were all happy to share Christmas with the nurses in the hospital. I remember when he visited my room. He walked in hefting his toy sack over. He had a familiar smile under the white beard.
"You must be Yuuki Konno correct?"
"Yep, that's me"
"Hoh ho ho. I never get it wrong. Now I'm sure you know what day it is right?"
"Oh? Maybe I should get my glasses checked. All I see is a little child awaiting her present." I giggle. "Ah yes. I must not forget your gift." He puts an arm into his toy sack and searches for something inside. "Ah! Here it is. A young boy wanted to give it you but was very busy on this day." He hands me an envelope. "He said he was very busy so he mailed it to me to give to you. Merry Christmas"
"Thanks Santa." He fits a santa hat on my head with a smile. It felt so familiar but I couldn't put my finger on it. Santa laughs and heads off to the next room. I quickly open the letter. Inside was a picture of two sleeping figures, shoulder to shoulder. On the back was a small note.
"Merry Christmas Yuuki. And a happy New Year from Asuna and gang, The Sleeping Knights and Calvin too.
P.S Send our regards to Santa. Even with his hands full he will always bring cheer to everyone. Including you."
"We wish you a Merry Christmas! We wish you a Merry Christmas.." Santa and some carolers begin to parade down the halls singing cheers. As Santa passes my door, he turns to face me and winks. In that instant I knew..
"Oh Calvin, you happy-go-lucky soul mate"
