Yuuki's POV

I was up most of the night thinking of what Calvin meant about our anniversary gift having rice. He said with wasn't rice and curry, so that was out. A bento box? No,I have that almost everyday now. I looked over to my clock. It was pretty late so I went to bed. The anniversary party was still on my mind. It even ended up being my dream.

"Rise and shine" a cheery but, familiar voice calls out to me. I slowly wake up. I felt so tired. I wanted to sleep some more. "Awake yet Yuko?" It was Calvin. He came early to wake me up. I open my eyes and get up. "Happy one year anniversary Yuko-Nii" Calvin says kissing me on the cheek. "Did you sleep well?"

"Kinda" I admit.

"What happened? Did my words keep you up?" Calvin asks.

"Yeah, sort of"

"Sorry about that. I brought you breakfast." He brings over a covered tray to my bedside table. I began to drool a little. Calvin always made the best breakfasts. "Go freshen up. I'll set up here"

"Fine." I head off to the bathroom and freshen up for the day. I still felt sleepy but, nothing like a warm shower picks you up. I had a feeling we were going straight to my rehab schedule after breakfast so I threw on a pair of sweats and a t-shirt. When I walked out the room was decorated with flowers and ribbons.

"So, what do you think?" Calvin asks with a paper flower in hand.

"It's beautiful. You didn't have to do all this for our anniversary though"

"I try my best to impress" I bring Calvin in for a hug.

"Thanks again. This is our first anniversary and you'll impress me anyways"

"Breakfast is served" he says walking over to the covered dish to reveal an egg omelet with 'Anniversary' written in ketchup.

"Calvin. You shouldn't have" I tell him blushing.

"Well, dig in!" I take a fork and cut a bite. It was smooth,warm and overall delicious. A nice blend of spices and the vegetables were cooked to perfection. "I'll be kinda busy like I said so I have to head out now"

"Already? I thought you were gonna help with my rehab" I whine.

"Sorry but, I have work to do. Apparently there was going to be a big family visiting a patient and I'm needed there to help with....crowd control." I laugh.

"Crowd control? You are so weird Calvin" I say in laughter.

"Why thank you" he thanks with a prince's bow. I laugh and jostle him.

"So I'll see you later?"

"Yeah. Again sorry for not being here but, I promise I have a good anniversary gift made for you"

"Can't wait to see it." We quickly kiss as Calvin heads off to work. "Now who's gonna help me with rehab?"

The rest of the day was pretty much....boring. I don't really have a word for it but, it was a mix of anticipation, boredom and spots if happiness. For the while I was training with a nurse and since the nurse was a girl I was able to have a girl talk while I exercised.

"So my boyfriend is planning a special anniversary gift for me today and when I asked what it was he hinted it would have rice. What do you think?"

"Well, he is Indian. Maybe rice and curry?"

"I asked and he said it wasn't"

"Hmm. He's a tricky one" she says rubbing her chin.

"I know, right!" I exclaim.

"Well whatever it may be, I'm sure it will make you happy"

"Thanks"

"Now come on, I'm not your boyfriend so I won't go easy on you"

It was late in the afternoon when Calvin returned. My muscles felt kinda used up after the workout I had to go through.

"Hey Yuuki, how was rehab?" Calvin asks.

"Really busy. Were you going easy on me this whole time?"

"May...be" he says with a chuckle. "Anyways, I thought I'd take you out for a ride"

"Where to?" I ask in wonder.

"Let's say it's part one of the anniversary gift"

"Part one? There parts to it?" I ask in surprise.

"Just two. Now get dressed we have to get there soon." I quickly throw on a pair of jeans and a long sleeve shirt as we leave the hospital. Calvin signs me out before we hopped onto his motorcycle. I wrap my arms around his waist as he speeds away to the mystery destination. I could feel the wind flow through my hair. It had grown out a little which was nice but, it was take a while to grow to my avatar's length. About a half hour later we reached a sightseeing spot.

"Well here we are." We got off the bike and walked to the railing. The sun was just setting and was resting on the horizon.

"Calvin, this is..." I was at a loss for words.

"I know. It is a beauty that leaves you speechless." We stood watching the sun slowly set. I've seen the sun set many times at my house but, for some reason this had a some sort of beauty to it. The reds, yellow and orange all blended together as the bright golden sphere descended into the horizon. Everything seemed to be bathed in the warm evening light.

"I thought" Calvin began. "It would be nice to see one of reality's daily beauties, since you've been cooped up in the hospital all this time"

"Thanks Cavalry. It been so long since I seen a real sunset." He brings me close to his side. I rest my head on his shoulder as we watch the last of the sun reach it's disappearing point. We got onto the bike and headed back when it started to grow dark. The street lights were turned on and the stores had neon lights advertising their sales. The real world had changed quite a bit. Within the hour we were back at the hospital. Calvin parks his motorcycle and we head inside. We stop at my room. The door was closed for some reason.

"Oh! Yuuki. Wait here and when I say 'come in', walk in. This is the second part of the surprise"

"Okay." I hear some clattering and then total silence.

"Come in." I walk into the room. The lights were off and it was pretty dark. I search through the darkness and flip the light switch.

"SURPRISE! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY YUUKI!"

Everyone was here cheering. Calvin, Asuna and gang, even Siune managed to come. Talken, Jun, Nori and Tecchi were with them on a voice chat application on someone's laptop. I was so shocked and happy I just stood there frozen. The cheering died down when everyone saw I that I didn't react yet.

"Um Yuuki?" Calvin asks slowly approaching me. I lunged at him. We both fall to the floor as I hugged Calvin till I was sure I cracked one of his rib.

"Thank you Calvin! This is so amazing! You really know how to surprise me! This is just the best! Everyone's here and even the Sleeping Knights! Thank you! Thank you!" I was just so happy and blown away.

"Your welcome Yuko-Nii. I try"

"But wait." I release him from my bear hug. "What was the rice about?" He points to a table they had set up. It had platters of different types of sushi. Some I haven't even tried yet.

"On our very first date I made you sushi, remember? So I thought it would be nostalgic to have it as our anniversary gift." I bear hug him again. "Oof! Yep. I'm sure one of my ribs just cracked." Everyone laughs and helps us back onto our feet. We began the party and everyone had their fill of sushi. Even the guys using the chat had sushi with them and were enjoying it along with us. As the night continued visiting hours were ending so everyone had to leave. Calvin stayed behind and helped me tidy up the room.

"Did you enjoy the anniversary gift?" Calvin asks me.

"Did I ever. That was amazing. First with the sunset and then the sushi. It was just incredible"

"I'm happy to hear that." After we finished cleaning, we sat by each other on the bed and looked at the city outside the window. It was still busy with cars driving through.

"Calvin?" I begin.

"Yeah, what's up?"

"Um..nothing." I had something I wanted to tell him but, it felt like a pit in my throat. Ignoring it I rested my head on his shoulder. (Italics) "What did I want to tell him?" It felt like I wanted to deepen the love or something. I pushed it away as we watch busy city through the window.
