Don't Worry, I'm Here - DustBerry

My hand twitched, itching to grip my knife. Echoes of screams dimmed in my mind and I wanted to refresh them. But I couldn't, shouldn't, can't. It was getting harder and harder each day to control the urge. Blue said I could fight it but...do I really want to?
Yes, I told myself, over and over, wishing the word would stick. Only it kept slipping farther and farther as my blood boiled. Memories replayed in my heads the longer I ignored it. Everyone screaming, crying, begging me to stop. Undyne telling me to end my insanity. Alphys pleading with me that there was another way. Papyrus...accepting his fate, to help me...
With an animal roar, I punched the tree next to me with enough force to leave a splintered dent as a crack echoed through through the woods. Blood. I need blood.
NO! I snapped at myself, punching the tree again, "Fight it!" I screamed aloud in the empty forest.
'Brother...' Papyrus' voice echoed in my head and I looked over at his ghostly floating head next to me.
"Not now, Pap," I told him.
'You are troubled...' he echoed distantly.
"Don't you think I fucking know that already?" I growled at him, walking through the woods.
'You need a release... Just release all your tensions...You know how...'
"I can't, Pap," I growled fiercely, "I told Blue I wouldn't hurt anyone."
'Just this once...you need to clear your mind...'
"Clear my mind, heh..." I started chuckling. Papyrus slowly faded from my head as my chuckling turned into insane cackling. "Clear my mind?!"
"How can I clear something I don't have?!" I cackled insanely, my eye flashing violet light around me.
Through my insane cackling, I heard a snap and whipped towards it, trying to calm my now tense nerves as my body twitched in weak, trembling self-control. A shadow approached me slowly, an unfamiliar shadow...
"Heh, heh, heh, come closer," I chuckled darkly, pulling my hood up, "I won't bite..."

Something was wrong. I felt it.
Dust had been gone far too long for my liking. He had said he wanted to take a walk in the woods alone. He should have been back by now.
Is he hurt? Is he okay? I wondered as I pulled on a cloak. It was growing late. Dust still wasn't home. He had missed dinner and he never misses a meal. Even if he doesn't feel like eating he makes sure he's here.
As I approached the door Papy caught my attention, "Where ya goin' bro?"
"I'm going to look for Dust," I said stiffly. Papy's eyes narrowed.
"Why? He probably went back to his own AU," Papy insisted but I shook my head.
"He wouldn't leave without telling me."
"Not everyone has a heart like yours, Sans," Papy went on, "Especially not that psycho."
"Dust is not a psycho! He just needs help!" I snapped before leaving.

Panting roughly, I stared with a cracked grin on my face at the bloody body beneath me. In my hand, a violet bone dripped with blood, slowly leaking into the snow and painting it crimson. My vision was blurry as I continued to stare at the unclear image of the dead body at my feet. Chuckling darkly, I pierced the bone through the body, pinning it to the earth unnecessarily. Not as if it could go anywhere, right?
Looking at the blood on my hand, continuing to chuckle, my blurry vision grew clearer and clearer. Choking on my own laughter, I looked down at the small body I had battered and broken.
"Ch-chara..." I choked, my grin flickering as my body made noises between chuckle, chokes, and sobs. My breathing sped up as I shook, looking from the blood to the bone to the body.
The child was small, dressed in a green and yellow striped sweater. Its hair splayed out, matted in its own blood, slowly wetting in the half-melted snow as its body heat slowly waned. It seemed too small to be Chara, yet...
Falling to my knees, shivering in a sudden piercing cold, I continued to choke on air as I stared at the body. Taking shallow breaths as I buried my hands in the snow, trying to erase the red dripping down my phalanges, trying to undo what I've done. The metallic, sickly sweet, enticing smell of blood filled my nose as I stared at the ground, fighting off the bloodlust in my head. Shaking my skull violently I coughed, unable to breathe as my shallow breaths got faster.
"No, no, no..." I pounded the earth, fury filling my bones, "Fight it, fight it! Stop it!"
Scrambling to my feet, dizzy with rage and bloodlust, I ran away from the direction of Snowdin. I had to leave. I had to get out of here. I needed to go before I hurt anyone else.
Running blindly I smashed into the side of a tree, "Fuck!" I cursed, rubbing my arm as I sprinted away from the smell of blood, the feeling of death, the sound of the child's dying screams...
My vision blurred once more as I ran in the snow, the wet icy cold drenching my feet and making me trip as I sunk into it. A wetness made its way down my face, making me colder as I tried to take in air. My soul pulsed rapidly, a maddening pace.
Clashing into a few more trees, stumbling through bushes, leaping over stones and gaps, I ran as far from my own sickening act as I could.
The laughter, its laughter, Chara's laughter, it won't stop! I screamed as I ran, trying to rid myself of the image of my Chara trying to kill everyone I loved. That had been the wrong Chara but I had killed it anyway.
Running to the edge of a cliff I stopped and panted, spitting out some saliva that made its way out my dry mouth. The wetness continued running down my face, cooling and freezing in tracks down my cheekbones. I could barely take in the air with my shallow breathing as my soul continued to race.
What did I do? What did I DO?! WHAT DID I DO?! "WHAT DID I DO?!" I screamed over the cliff, falling to my knees, choking and sobbing. Or at least, I tried. Instead, I heard insane laughter as my head tossed back in the rush of killing. Bloodlust, regret, thrill, anger, excitement: my mind sobbed as my body laughed. Holding my skull in shaking hands I sat on the cliff edge, staring at nothing with blurry vision.
I'm so sorry, Blue...

The snow crunched beneath my feet as I made my way through the woods. The wind picked up and I shivered, pulling my cloak tighter around myself. According to the sentry dogs, Dust had come this way, muttering to himself. His recent behavior worried me. More and more it felt like he grew distant and twitchy. Every time I tried to talk to him he'd close himself off and not say more than a few words.
He took more walks but always returned within three hours. He'd been gone for over double that time. Papyrus didn't understand, Dust wasn't a psycho. He was sad and sick and needed help.
"Dust? Duuuussst?" I called out, "Dust, answer me!" Nothing but silence came from the woods.
Dust, where are you? My soul ached at the thoughts running through my head. Each passing thought and worry worse than the last.
Silence pressed into me as I walked, following the footprints in front of me. I had found tracks not too long ago and started following them. Not much of a lead as I couldn't tell if they belonged to Dust, but it was better than nothing.
Soon, a dark outline of a lump in the snow caught my attention ahead of me.
"Dust?"
The lump didn't move. It just laid on the ground, a faint purple glow on it. As I got closer, it began to look sort of familiar...
A smell reached my nose and I retched, leaning against a tree for support as I gagged at the stench. It smelt metallic. Gross, sickly, with a hint of sweetness...
"Dust?!" I rushed forward. The smell awakened panic in my senses. Red joined the purple the closer I got to the lump and the stench.
As soon as I could make out the faint colors on the lump a sob escaped me.
"Chara!" dashing to my human friend's side I slid to my knees, examining the human. "Chara...?" my voice was shaky as I gently picked up my bloody friend. Their soul was shattered completely. Blood painted the snow, showing signs of a brief struggle. A violet, sharpened bone stuck out of their body and I choked out another sob.
"Dust, why?" I cried, hugging Chara to my chest as much as I could. The poor little human was beaten, battered, broken, tortured...
Looking up, tears falling from my eye sockets, I noticed footprints running away from the scene. Broken branches and blood on trees showed the panic of the trail from what I could see.
"Dust..." I stood up, marking a tree to find Chara again and give them a proper burial, before following the tracks.
Blood streaked on some trees, some even had bark scraped off. Bushes and branches were broken in the panicked, tripped up snow of the path. As I followed the path I grew more desperate, slowly speeding up.
"Dust!" I called out, sobbing in fear and sorrow. Pushing my way past the trees I looked for my lover. "Dust!" I cried out.
Soon the trees started thinning and I could see a cliff edge. Panic sparked my soul as the thought that Dust jumped filled my head.
"Dust, answer me!" I cried out, running as fast as I could, "Dust, PLEASE!"
A figure emerged from the thinning trees and I sped up, "DUST!"
Their head snapped up at my call. I could see faint violet on their face.
"Oh, Dust..." I cried, running up to him.

Blue...? I thought as a small armored mass tackled me into a hug, sobbing onto my shoulder. Before he had crashed into me I had seen faint red on his armor. Did he see...?
"Dust, you worried me so much!" Blueberry sobbed into my shoulder, "Don't do that to me!"
"Blue..." I said dully. My laughter and my sobs had ended a while ago as I succumbed to numb misery.
Blue pulled back, taking my face in my hands, "Oh, Dust, are you okay? Are you hurt?"
Taking his hands off my face I gave him a strange look, "How can you touch me?"
"You're my boyfriend, Dust! I'm worried about you..." he sniffled. I could see the sorrow in his eyes. I knew I caused it.
"B-but I k-killed your friend..." I said, still dull. He embraced me again, softly this time.
"I know, and I know you regret it..." he whispered, "But it's going to be okay..."
"I'm a murderer, Blue," I said, "A sick, psychotic murderer..."
"You need healing, Dust," Blue insisted.
"How can you even stand me?" more wetness fell from my eyes as I shook, letting out a little sob, "I'm not kind...I'm a killer..."
Clutching him I started to sob with shallow breaths, "I'm broken, Blue. I-I can't control myself. I-I like k-killing, I c-can't help it..."
"Hush, Dust," Blue started rocking me, "You can be fixed. You've improved so much already. You regret killing. You ran away so you stopped killing. Chara will live a peaceful afterlife-" his voice caught, "Y-you need to calm down..."
"I'm scared, Blue," I sobbed, holding the smaller tightly, "What if it happens again? What if I kill someone else?"
"Shh, Dust, shh..." he continued rocking me, "We'll fight it together, Dust. I won't leave your side. If you kill again..."
"Well, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it..."
"I'm so, so, sorry Blue..." I sobbed softly, "I never meant to hurt them..."
"I know, I know," Blue whispered comfortingly.
"I-"
"Hush, Dust..." Blue muttered, giving me a soft kiss on the skull.
"Don't worry about it anymore... I'm here for you, and I'll always be here for you..."
"Heh," I chuckled humorlessly, "I love you, Blue. Thank you, for everything..."
"I love you, too, Dust..." Blue smiled against my skull.
