Chapter 8

Saiko was lonely.

Ever since Tsuki's appearance, Satsuki had been spending a lot more time with the other bluenette.

Saiko understood it now- she'd been mean to Satsuki in the beginning. She had been the only other human for Satsuki to interact with. Now that there's more people, Satsuki didn't want anything to do with Saiko...

Well, Saiko should've seen this coming. What was Saiko besides something created to kill? She'd been created to kill and if she happened to be friends with Satsuki, that was a plus. That's what Mario said, anyway. Saiko just didn't want to believe that Satsuki would hang out with other people once they showed up. Now that she was... well, the nine year old bluenette was jealous.

A head full of red hair dropped down in front of her, blocking her vision.

"I know you like to sulk a lot, but you look more upset than usual. What's up?"

Saiko stared at the girl.

It wasn't Satsuki.

This girl was Scarlet- the newest addition to the prison. She had short red hair and green eyes, and wore a brown jacket. Currently, she was hanging upside down from her knees, her head in front of Saiko's as her hair trailed down. Her knees were hooked around a pipe up top.

"How'd you get up there without me noticing?" Saiko ignored Scarlet's question.

"Well, after waving my hand in front of your face twenty times, I swung up there and was planning on napping until you snapped out of it," Scarlet told her. "But I got impatient, so.."

"Well, sorry," Saiko replied, not meaning it. "My bad."

"Ugh. You're in some sort of funk, aren't ya?" Scarlet dropped down, landing on her feet. "Why don't you tell me what happened, hmm?"

"You'll laugh."

"I won't! Promise."

"You're you," Saiko pointed out.

"So?"

"Remember last time?"

"Are you okay, Saiko?" Scarlet questioned after Saiko had locked Satsuki in Tsuki's cell. "You seem... off."

"Well... I locked Satsuki in Tsuki's cell-"

"HAHAHHA!"

"Okay, but that was legitimately funny," Scarlet smirked. "How does one forget to-"

"Shut up!" Saiko growled, embarrassed. "She didn't mind it anyway."

"Ohh, so that's what this is about," Scarlet chuckled. "You know, you really shouldn't worry about that."

"About what?"

"You know what," Scarlet rolled her eyes. "Just because Satsuki was hanging out with another person doesn't mean-"

"She hasn't been doing anything but that," Saiko snapped. "She hasn't made any time for me. She just wants to hang out with-"

"Well, you obviously don't recall her asking you earlier today if you wanted to hang out," Scarlet snorted. "You declined-"

"Just because she wants to hang out with me now doesn't mean anything! It's only because Tsuki has her fight today."

"Oh my... you really are extremely dense," Scarlet sighed. "Or just being a complete teenager. This is not who I would expect from you."

"Shut up! You understand though.." Saiko looked away. "This place. It was just Satsuki at first, then I came. We helped each other stay sane... if either of us were alone, we probably would've broken. And then... then Tsuki shows up, and I've been replaced," Saiko's voice broke for a moment. "...that's not a good feeling. She's got blue hair, blue eyes, face it, we look similar... am I really so easily replaceable..?"

"...well, you're hanging out around me," Scarlet told her. "Who has short red hair, and wears a jacket everywhere. You're not being replaced, Saiko... she just wants to spend some time with other people."

"It sounds... selfish of me to say that I only want her to spend time only around me."

"Because that is selfish," Scarlet chuckled. "But that's okay. You've only experienced that. It's natural to feel jealous if you've hung out with that person and they start being with someone else. Trust me, Satsuki doesn't hate you and doesn't want to abandon you. Promise."

"Yeah..." Saiko was embarrassed. That was so unlike her to feel that way... "...thanks, Scarlet."

"No problem, Saiko."

"I don't get it!" Satsuki huffed. "Tsuki, why is she ignoring me? Every time I try to talk to her, she brushes me away! Why! What have i done?"

"Hate to tell ya hon," Tsuki picked up her silver axe and swung it over her shoulder. "I honestly have no idea. I thought you guys were really close?"

"We are! Or, we were I guess," Satsuki sighed. "I don't understand... she never wants to hang out with me, ever. Now-"

"If I can interject," Tsuki interrupted. "I don't know what it is that's in between you two... but whatever it is, you guys should try to get past that obstacle. If you don't, you may end up with an apology that you'll never get to say.."

"...Tsuki.."

"I've got to go fight now," Tsuki smiled weakly. "Watch me, okay?"

Tsuki jumped off the bench and walked to the arena, Satsuki staring after her.

What happened in her past...?

Hey everyone! Hope you're enjoying Sanity :)

Gosh, I feel like I could make tons of books just on the characters. Maybe Tsuki will make an appearance somewhere.

Question of the chapter: were you more like Saiko or Satsuki in this instance?

Thanks for reading!
