Chapter 16
Hikari was extremely nervous as she took to the arena for the first time.
"You've got this, Hikari!" Satsuki screamed loudly, but was slightly alarmed to see Hikari enter with no weapon. "You go!"
"Do your best!" Tsuki called out, causing Scarlet to look at her amusedly. "Oh come on, I'm not a-"
"Sure, sure," Scarlet smirked. "Totally convincing.
The girl with cream colored hair nervously played with the ends of her ponytail as she awaited the monster's appearance. Sure enough, a creature double her size with long, furry arms and short legs arrived, snarling.
"Why didn't she bring a weapon?" Satsuki whispered, worried. "That's.."
"An amateur move," Saiko interrupted her. "Worse comes to worse, we throw her down something."
"Won't we get in trouble for that?"
"Does it matter?"
Hikari stood nervously as it moved towards her, and she rolled out of the way as it's arm lunged towards her. Suddenly, her arm thrust out, and a sword appeared in her hand.
"What the f-"
"Don't even say it, Scarlet."
With a determined look on her face, the girl swung, creating a cut in its arm. It's large eyes narrowed in anger as it attempted to swipe her out of the way. She gracefully dodged, an axe forming in her arms as she turned, slicing through its stomach. It howled angrily, grabbing her axe and throwing it away. She didn't attempt to hold on, merely using its distraction as her chance. With a clench of her fist, a spear appeared in her hand, and it pierced through its stomach as she drove it through. She cartwheeled away from its next attempt, leaving the spear in, although it disappeared when a dagger formed in her right hand.
"This is so cool," Satsuki breathed. "I want this power."
"Why was she so worried if this is what she had!?" Scarlet questioned. "Now I'm worried for my fight!"
Hikari's style was magical to watch. She weaved her way through its attacks, dancing and turning as her weapons formed. Even her kicks were dangerous as spikes formed on the bottoms of her shoes. She catapulted into the air, a scythe forming in her hand, and she sliced its head off cleanly.
The small crowd was mesmerized by how pretty it was.
"You know," Scarlet interrupted, making Saiko groan as the girl never seemed to shut up. "That moment when you realize she's one of the only people in our group with a reasonable hairstyle for fighting."
The group stared at her.
"What? Saiko, Satsuki, Luna, Killia, my own hair... it's down, and long. Then Utari's is in a braid, and hers is in a ponytail. Why are we so inconvenient?"
"Damn. Why are you right?"

"I wonder what Luna's power is," Killia muttered, tapping her chin. "It's probably-"
"Lets just hope it's good," Utari murmured. "Or else it's useless."
"Knowing her, it might not be too wonderful," Killia said. "But you never know-"
"Her power is going to be great!" Satsuki interrupted, not tolerating one of her group badmouthing another. "It's going to be amazing, and so mesmerizing!"
"...sure," Utari compromised. "But you never know, her power might be completely useless in a fight. It can always happen."
"...well, most people don't have powers that are useful for a fight," Killia wasn't about to sugarcoat it. "So while it would be great if she had a good one, we don't know if she will."
"I know, but..."
Luna entered the arena, her white hair flying in the wind. Unlike Hikari, she had a bright and cheery smile on her face. She also carried a spear, to everyone's relief.
To everyone's surprise, the arena began to morph and water filled it, but Luna didn't seem phased at all. She was now standing on a tiny island. A great white shark appeared, with spikes down its giant body.
"Holy crap, I didn't know the arena could switch!" Scarlet's green eyes widened in excitement. "That's so cool!"
"Of course you'd say that," Saiko rolled her eyes. "Of course."
"Hey! Don't swear!" Satsuki scolded. "That's not-"
"Sorry, I'm trying! Hard habit to break."
The shark swam towards Luna, it's body huge and it's mouth wide as it neared her. Much to everyone's surprise, she didn't move as it came closer.
"LUNA, MOVE!!"
Satsuki watched in terror as it came closer to the white haired girl.
Luna suddenly moved out of the way, and the shark crashed into the tree. Angrily, it was flapping on the sand, as Luna stabbed her spear into the animal. It's mouth moved to take a bite of her, but she moved before it had even tried. She dug her spear deeper into the animal, and it was over.
"What the hell was that?" Utari muttered. "That was so quick..."
"Who was doubting her?" Satsuki cheered. "Go, Luna!"
