Capítulo XXXIV- Nuevos enemigos

It hadn't been 30 minutes and Adam, Bree, and Chase returned from Pike's Crest. They sprinted through the tunnel and Patience shot up from her seat. Chase shouted, "Mr. Davenport! It's worse than we thought! Krane isn't just controlling a few random kids. He has an entire bionic army."

"Girls, too!" added Adam. He smirked giving a little nod, "Some of 'em were hot."

Patience dismissed Adam's comment for the moment and excused her way to the front. She leaned forward, crossing her arms, "An army? I thought it was just Krane and S-1?"

"When Krane bought my technology, he must've started genetically engineering those kids behind my back!" Douglas pointed his finger to Mr. Davenport, piecing things together, "Although it does explain the hundreds of baby pictures all over his warehouse."

Patience drew her head back, furrowing her eyebrows, "And you didn't question him?"

"How could I? He's tried to kill me twice!" Douglas defended.

"Nevermind, that's a valid reason."

Bree shook her head, returning to the topic, "So what's our next move?

The monitor behind Leo glitched. It cleared up to focus on the President's room. Leo jumped back, "Krane!" He strutted behind the president's chair as the president rolled his eyes.

Adam chuckled, "Aw, nice job, Mr. President, you caught Krane. Our work here is done."

Bree mouthed, "What? No." She grabbed his forearm and hauled him to the screen to gather around with everyone else.

"Whatever you do, do not negotiate with this man," the President demanded, firmly.

Krane dryly laughed, "I don't negotiate." The President flung from his chair but Krane lifted his hand. He stopped the President in his tracks. "Sit down." The President couldn't control his body as Krane held him under his control. He grunted as he was tugged to his seat.

Patience remembered what that was like. It ached every muscle yet you weren't able to move. It was similar to being shoved in a small box, squeezing you and breathing tight short breaths. She hated being controlled by molecularkenisis.

"How did you escape?" Leo piped up behind Mr. Davenport.

"It's amazing what an army of bionic teenagers can do when they really put their minds together."

"You're forcing them against their will by using your triton app on them like you did to them," Patience gestured to Adam, Bree, and Chase.

"Oh, I'm not just controlling them. Now that I've perfected this technology, I can transmit the Triton app to anyone. Allow me to demonstrate." With a click of a button, Krane hovered a device over the President's head. A green electric claw enveloped his head. The President's posture straightened and his eyes glowed green. "Well, will you look at that? Now the most powerful man in the world is under my control."

"Actually, the President doesn't have full control. We live in a democracy and the President does have restrictions-" Patience paused when she sensed the looks she received. It took her a moment to realize she had been correcting Krane and she had been influenced by chase's constant need to correct people. Patience pursed her lips, "Sorry."

"But I still have one of the most powerful people in my hands, don't I?" Krane quirked an eyebrow, placing a hand on the President's shoulder.

Patience's mouth twisted, "Yeah..." Chase's hand traveled down her arm and laced his fingers with hers.

"And with my bionic army, armed forces won't be able to stop me."

Mr. Davenport asked, "Why are you doing this, Krane?"

"Ordinary humans are inferior. My soldiers have proven that. So together, we're gonna create one nation-state under bionic rule."

"With liberty and justice for all!" Adam slapped a hand over his heart. Patience made eye contact with him and she quickly shook her head. "Oh," he mouthed, dropping his hand.

"That's your plan?" Chase tilted his head to the side. "To create a bionic dictatorship?"

Bree kept her face stern and her voice strong, "No one in their right mind would ever bow down to you."

"They won't have a choice," Krane reminded. "Once my Triton signal connects with the government's satellites, it'll beam an electromagnetic wave over the entire planet. Then, I'll be the most powerful man in the world." Patience's eyebrows subtly rose.

"Good luck. You can't access the government's satellites without the classified security code," Mr. Davenport smugly said. Douglas proudly patted his shoulder, chuckling.

"Oh, right." Krane picked up the tablet beside him and handed it to the President. "And that is?" Patience's stomach dropped, there wasn't any way he knew them right? The President typed the code on the tablet and her mouth slightly parted.

"Well, he obviously planned this out," Mr. Davenport turned to Douglas and the adolescents.

"There. Now the satellites are orbiting right into the path of my Triton signal. Don't you just love technology?" Krane smirked and ended the call.

Patience blew out a puff of air. "At least he told us his satellite plan. Now we can come up with a plan to sabotage him and stop his bionic army."

Bree's eyebrows pinched together, "But how? He has too many soldiers."

"We don't have a choice," Douglas said, throwing his hands to his side. "If Krane succeeds, it'll be the end of the world as we know it."

"He's right, but if you're gonna face a whole army, I'm gonna have to max out your bionics. Get in your capsules." Mr. Davenport motioned behind him. He gave out instructions as he typed into the console. He had used it too many times that he'd see the picture of it in his head. "Douglas, go and find us our most powerful weapons. And Leo-"

"I know, stay here and monitor everything on the com-set," Leo recited, finishing Mr. Davenport's sentence.

Leo was stopped by Mr. Davenport on his way to his desk, "No, not this time. You're coming with us." Patience stopped in her track.

Leo's eyes nearly fell out of his eye sockets, "What?" His shoulders slumped. "Is this another 'Let's use Leo as bait' plan?"

"No, we need all the help we can get, and after all the hard training you've put in, you've earned the right to fight alongside this family."

A smile grew on Patience's face. Leo finally got what he wanted after nearly three years. He had been waiting to join Adam, Bree, and Chase on a mission before they even had their first mission. Well, technically, he had his first mission when they had their first mission because he snuck onto the train. However, her smile flipped upside down. Patience wanted to fight beside them too and not just sit and wait for them to come back. She didn't know how much longer she could take it. Patience wanted to do more.

Leo glanced behind Mr. Davenport to see her frowning. "But what about Patience?"

Mr. Davenport faced her and put a hand on her shoulder, "I'm sorry, Patience, but I can't put you in the face of any danger."

Adam, Bree, and Chase waited by Leo already in their mission suits. Patience said, "Why, I can't just sit here?"

"You won't just sit here, you'll guide us like you normally do and what will Dante do if I let you in any face of danger?"

"Mr. Davenport I'll be fine. I'm pretty sure my dad-"

"No, Patience, stay here."

Patience sealed her lips, her eyebrows furrowed and she crossed her arms. She stepped forward, "But I'll be okay. I've been doing martial arts since I was eight, you've continued to teach me and I've sparred against Adam, Bree, and Chase, I've excelled all my training with Douglas. Not to mention, I have healing capabilities."

Douglas stood next to her, placing a hand on her shoulder. "Come on, Donnie. Let the kid go, she's ready and you said it yourself we'll need all the help we could get. Plus, I taught the kids combos and I've been waiting to see them in action," he smiled, pointing his thumb at Leo and Patience.

Mr. Davenport pressed his lips together and narrowed his eyes at Douglas and Patience. He made a list of pros and cons in his head, debating whether he should let her go. After a couple of seconds, he spoke. "Fine, but stay close."

Patience hopped up and down, "Yes!"

"Yes!" Leo joined her in celebration. "We're going on a mission!" Patience high-fived Leo. He wandered off into the tunnel throwing his hands in the air. "Yes! Yes!" She laughed as Leo cart-wheel across the room. He came back and smoothly popped his collar, "Let's do this." He set his hand out for Patience to low five, which, she returned.

With smiles, they looked at Adam, Bree, and Chase. Bree grinned, "I'm proud of you."

Chase nodded to Leo, "Way to go." Patience raised her hand with a smile and gave him a hug. "Congrats, Patience," he held her tighter.

Adam smiled looking between Leo and Patience, "Don't mess it up."

Patience let go of Chase and she and Leo side glanced at each other. They weren't as uncoordinated as they used to be. The last time they broke something was two months ago and it was one of Mr. Davenport's prototypes. Which wasn't entirely their fault, it happened to be next to the popcorn Leo tried to make with his laser spheres for their movie marathon. But Patience was sure that they were ready.

After changing into their new suits and squealing over them, Leo and Patience stepped out. Their hood concealed their faces as they glanced down. Their light boots barely made a sound as their steps synchronized. They removed their hoods and Leo kept a serious face but Patience was too excited to hide her smile.

"Well? What do you think?" Mr. Davenport crossed his arms, grinning.

"I think you should donate the rest of my clothes to charity," Leo admitted, "because I am never taking this thing off."

Patience balanced on one leg and lifted the other in the air, creating a straight line. She brought it down and buckled the buckles on her legs. She was able to adjust to cloth from straight-legged to skinny. "Adjustable pants? I won't have to worry about them grabbing on."

"Wait," Douglas rose a finger. He typed into the console next to Patience, she peered over his shoulder. "There. I just unlocked a new ability for you. Leo, for you I unlocked energy transference. Now your bionic hand will be able to absorb energy from any power source. And Patience, for you, sound wave manipulation. You can absorb sound waves and turn them into sonic wave blasts."

Patience's eyes widened, "Is that even safe?"

Douglas hesitated. "Yeah, sure, I'm sure it is. Go ahead. Give it a shot, just observe your environment." Douglas pushed a button and a target was created across the room.

Patience listened to the energy sphere next to her. Energy swirled in the sphere and a low vibration trickled in the air. She isolated the rest of the noise, focusing on the vibration the object made. The sound waves flow down to her hands. Patience lifted her hand and released the energy. A sound wave shot out in a ripple effect, hitting its target.

Everyone smiled and laughed in awe at the new ability as Patience was agape. "So, what'd you think?" Douglas questioned.

"Horrifying but awesome! This could come in handy!" she replied, smiling.

"All right, Leo. You're up," Douglas gestured to the energy sphere.

Leo palmed the sphere next to him. An orange beam flooded down Leo's hand as he grinned. He jerked back, retracting it and a laser sphere circled his hand. "No way! Oh, I could definitely get used to this."

"Nice, Leo, now you can suck all the energy out of things. Just like Chase!" Adam teased. Bree patted Chase's shoulder. Chase's smile collapsed. "I'm surprised Patience isn't hollow yet," he staggered like an old man to her. He smiled ruffling her hair. Patience merely pursed her lip and removed his hand.
