Capítulo III- Inalcanzable

Adam, Bree, Chase, Leo, and Patience strolled down the stairs laughing at a joke Leo said. However, they all let out groans as Principal Perry stopped them, "Not so fast!" she jogged down the stairs, "You three missed school yesterday. Not that I didn't enjoy it. But it's been happening too much lately. Look at this attendance report."

Chase glanced down at the report, "You still keep paper records? You know, we have computers now also indoor plumbing and fire."

Principal Perry glared at him, "Do you really wanna poke the bear."

"Do you really wanna use that analogy?" Leo leaned towards Perry.

Patience nudged his side. "I'm sorry about-"

     "Zip it, perky."

Patience stepped back and said, "Yes, ma'am."

Principal Perry faced Leo, "You too, Dooley. I've been working out. Don't make me flex my guns." She faced the bionic siblings again, "You three are in big trouble."

Bree smiled, "Actually we're not, 'cause we have a note from our dad. He signed it and everything."

Adam pointed at the note, "With his name."

Principal Perry grabbed the note, "Oh, well, I'm sorry. My bad. That changes absolutely nothing!" Perry ripped the note to shreds, scattering it across the floor. "Just because your dad lets you cut school doesn't mean I have to. Somebody has to be the disciplinarian. It's like I tell my cats," Perry let out a hiss. "See you three in detention." With a smile on her face, Perry waltzed off.

Chase scoffed, "Great. We miss school for a mission and get punished. This isn't fair."

Leo shook his head, "No, it really isn't." He hooked his arm with Patience, "Well, you guys have fun."

"I really wish I could help you, but if feel like if I tried, I'd also get detention. I'm sorry, guys, detention is like school jail and my dad will probably kill me." Patience sent them an apologetic glance and left with Leo.

Patience helped Leo with the summary reports after school, while Adam, Bree, and Chase were stuck in detention. With the two of them speeding through the reports, they got through them quickly, but it would have been quicker if Patience's mind didn't wander to Marcus's threat.

     "Hey, you okay?" Leo asked.

     Patience hummed, "What?"

     "Are you okay?"

She smiled, "Oh, yeah. These reports are just boring."

"You sure because you've been acting weird since we got trapped in that car."

Patience recalled Marcus's threat, she could tell Leo about it. Adam, Bree, and Chase did mention that Marcus came over that same evening to make sure Leo was okay. Patience was sure it was a façade Marcus was pulling.

"I mean, we did almost die," Patience shrugged.

"Yeah, we almost died," Leo furrowed his eyebrows. "If you ever-"

Patience grinned and put a hand on his, "but I'm fine, I promise," on her other hand, she crossed her fingers underneath the desk. Changing the topic, Patience said, "Wanna play Mario Kart after this?"

Leo suspiciously surveyed Patience. She was a terrible liar, everyone knew that by now. Leo figured whatever she was hiding, she didn't want to worry him. Leo said, "Sure."

"Great." Patience and Leo rose from their seats and walked to Mr. Davenport. "Alright, Mr. Davenport, we finished the reports," Patience informed.

Leo added, "And may I just say, I've never felt so alive. So what are you working on?"

Mr. Davenport moved out of the way and the machine he was working on turned around. "Hi," Eddy greeted. Leo dropped the binder and he and Patience let out a yelp. "Ha! Now, none of you are safe!"

"I designed a robot body for Eddy. Isn't it cool?" Mr. Davenport pointed at Eddy. "He can now patrol the grounds, he can disable explosives, and he can mix two paint cans at the same time."

"Look what else I could do!" Eddy released a mist at Leo and Patience. They waved their arms around gasping and coughing, getting rid of the gas.

Mr. Davenport laughed, "Isn't it great? What do you think?"

Patience pursed her lips, "I think I should be more cautious hanging out here."

Leo grimaced, "Well, at least I'm not the shortest person in the room anymore."

Eddy expanded his neck making himself taller, "Now, what do you think."

"I think I'm gonna start locking my door tonight."

Eddy sprayed what Patience hoped was water at her and Leo. Eddy cackled, "You better hope that was water!"

Leo and Patience frowned and faced Mr. Davenport. "It's mostly water," Mr. Davenport clarified.

Patience glanced down at the wet patch on her shirt and skirt. She wiped her mouth with her sleeve. "I'm gonna go use your bathroom."

Patience advanced towards the lab's elevator. With a click of a button, she was upstairs, instead of going to the bathroom, the paper towels in the kitchen caught her eyes. She tore off a paper towel and dried off her face and the best she could of her clothes.

She tossed the paper towel in the trash can and turned on the Wii U. Leo waltz into the great room and smiled, "Alright, are you ready to be crushed?"

"Aren't we at the same skill level?" Patience said, inserting the disk.

Leo paused and pointed his two fingers at her, "Are you ready to play?"

Patience laughed and handed Leo the Wii remote. She chose her character, Koopa, and her vehicle choice while Leo chose his. Patience often switched between Koopa and Yoshi whenever she got the chance, she couldn't decide which one was her favorite.

When she and Leo played video games together, he would always block her line of vision when she would get the lead. The only time she played dirty was when he would cheat, her competitive side comes out when playing.

Patience and Leo fought between first place, they were on the second to last course in the special cup, Bowser's castle. Leo picked up a throw pillow and tossed it at Patience. The pillow hit her face and dropped on her lap, she scooted closer to Leo and pushed him to the side. Leo did the same, both of them shoved each other to try and make the other lose.

     "Knock it off."

     "No, you knock it off."

They were on the final lap a blue spiky shell hit Koopa, Leo passed Patience making him first place. The Koopa stopped spinning, making her in third place. Patience did her best to get to Leo but he ended the race at first while she passed into second.

Leo shot up from his seat, "Aha! I win."

"I still got one more shot. Look at the points, we're tied," Patience pointed at the tv smiling.

A thud grasped Leo and Patience's attention. Mr. Davenport faced Eddy and hit him with a rolled-up newspaper, "Will you stop that!"

"What do you think, I'm trying to crash into your butt?" Eddy snapped.

"Leo, Patience, where is everybody?" Mr. Davenport glanced at his watch, "I sent out a mission alert and no one is responding."

"Oh, I thought you already knew, they got detention for missing too much class," Patience explained.

Leo nodded, "They're probably getting flipped and ripped as we speak. The flipping's not so bad, it's the ripping that haunts ya."

Patience turned to him, "I don't think I'll ever survive detention."

     "Probably not."

Mr. Davenport grabbed their attention, "There is an underground gas leak and the hazmat team cannot contain it. I need Adam, Bree, and Chase to shut it down."

     Leo shrugged, "Let us help."

Patience wrapped an arm around Leo's shoulders, "Yeah, we could come in very handy. I've read Leo's suggestions."

Mr. Davenport laughed, "That's very funny, but this is serious. If that substation explodes, it'll send a highly toxic gas cloud into the atmosphere. I gotta get Principal Perry to let them go. Talk about a highly toxic gas cloud."

Mr. Davenport called Chase, but it went straight to voicemail, "There's no answer. I can't wait for them." He sighed and tucked his phone back into his pocket. He walked to the counter and wrote on a piece of paper, "Look, take this note to Principal Perry and tell her to let Adam, Bree, and Chase leave. Eddy and I will head to the substation and start taking gas level readings."

"Woah, whoa, whoa. You're taking him on a mission and not us?" Leo questioned.

Eddy deadpanned, "Oh, it's nothing personal. He just thinks you're worthless."

Leo and Patience glared at Eddy. Mr. Davenport hit Eddy again, "Come on!"

Leo and Patience sprinted out the door. She grabbed Leo and pointed at her baby blue bike. "No, I'm not riding on that to school."

"I mean if you wanna run over there, we could do that?"

"What are you waiting for?" Leo exclaimed. Patience smiled and hopped on her bike with Leo on the footrest.
