Laughter is Wonderful (Royality)

Author's Note: Okay. So I've wanted to write a G/T tickle fic for awhile now and there is an AU on tumblr that's just amazing okay, so I had to write something for it. You don't need to know the actual AU to enjoy the fic, but highly suggest you check it out at sanders-sanctuary-au on tumblr. I promise you won't be dissapointed. The whole premise is Thomas was given a huge estate from his Aunt Patty and decided to open a Sanctuary for borrowers/tinies that are brought in for refuge. In this universe everyone knows about borrowers and they are often as treated as lesser than humans, even though it's not true and Thomas is trying to remedy that by making the sanctuary totally borrower run. In this AU, Thomas is a human, and all the sides are borrowers save Deceit. The cannon ships for the AU are Royality and Analogical, though this fic focuses solely on Royality. Hope you enjoy.

It was 1:00 pm and the sanctuary had become relatively quiet after the regular lunchtime hustle and bustle. It was a Saturday, meaning Thomas had just a bit more downtime than usual, so he decided to take this time to wash the dishes he and Deacon had used not an hour before in the human kitchen area.

He tapped his barefoot on ground, humming the main theme to Toy Story "You've Got a Friend in Me" and applying soap to the the rhythm of the tune. He checked the floor around him and was relieved to find it clear of borrowers. He shimmied with his feet, swaying with the music as his humming turned into a gentle singing of the lyrics.

As Thomas went relatively disturbed, his singing and dancing got louder and more prominent. He was so distracted he hadn't noticed the three pairs of eyes watching him from the shelves. When Thomas got to the instrumental break in the song, he did a small tap dance, spun around, and continued singing from the bridge to the end of the jazzy tune.

Once he finished, he struck a pose after setting the last dish in the cupboard. The roar of tiny applause made him jump out of his skin as it sounded loudly from somewhere ominous. Thomas quickly scanned the shelves in the kitchen, then finally he spotted them among the teapots on the top shelf. Emile, Patton, and Roman were all clapping and hollering in encore at the unintended performance.

Thomas blushed and took a bow which caused Roman to jump up and give a standing ovation. Thomas snorted and hid his face with embarrassment.

"Okay okay! I get it. Thanks guys." The noise died down and the human couldn't help but smile. "How long have you three been listening?

Roman was the first to speak. "Only about a minute or so! We heard you and couldn't help ourselves but watch!"

"No need to be embarrassed Thomas. That was spectacular!" Emile added and began to climb down the shelves to where Thomas stood in front of the sink. Patton and Roman soon followed and Thomas watched them fondly, the pink in his cheeks slowly faded away as he sat criss-cross on the floor while he waited for them to approach.

Patton jumped on one of kneecaps and sat down, letting his legs dangle off the edge. "Howzitgoing Thomas?"

"As well as it can Patton. Deacon is out getting groceries and I'm cleaning up from the lunch I had. I suppose it's just a lazy day. You know what I mean?"

"I certainly do Thomas. I had only one patient this morning and Amelia seems to be doing better now that she is more comfortable in the sanctuary." Emile said, smiling up at Thomas and standing next to his right foot. Roman sprinted past the borrower therapist straight at Thomas with a running start. He first scaled his leg, then bounced off of Thomas's calves, and climbed up the front of his shirt. Thomas watched him with awe as he made it up to his collar bone and swung himself onto his shoulder.

Roman, now leaning against Thomas's neck, glanced at his newly manicured nails. "Well it has been the opposite of a lazy day for me, Thomas! I had finished another act of my Opera I'm writing! I've yet to find a good title for the song though. It is all about laughter and how wonderful it is to laugh."

"You are filled with energy today Roman. Did Deacon give you caffeinated coffee again?" Thomas leaned against the sink, making sure his shoulder was upright enough so Roman could stand.

"I don't know who left it out, but it was there so I drank it." Roman began tapping his nails against Thomas's neck absentmindedly.

"You drank Coffee cold!?" Patton exclaimed, astonished the mini-prince would do anything of the sort.

"What? Absolutely not, Patton. Who do you take me for? Logan? I used the microwave in the borrower kitchen to heat it up of course. I'm not a heathen."

"Hey now Roman. Be nice. We both know Logan isn't a heathen." The tapping of Roman's nails next to Thomas's neck was starting to get a little...unbearable to say the least.

Roman snorted. "I know I know. Only when he eats things normally meant to be hot, cold! That's when he is a heathen."

"Hey Roman." Emile replied calmly, now resting his arms on the outer edge of Thomas's right foot. "Remember that for other borrowers, either out in the wild or in poor conditions, heated food items are a luxury. If Logan chooses to eat something cold, then that's his decision. I'm not trying to put you down, just be mindful of what we have and be grateful for it. Thomas has been very good to us."

Roman hung his head and nodded. "Sorry." Thomas swallowed a giggle as he felt Roman's hand knead into his very sensitive neck further.

"Hey no need to apologize Roman. I'm happy to do this for you guys. You can have all the caffeinated drinks you want. You are an adult!" Now Emile's elbows had found a soft spot on Thomas's foot and he was trying to do all that he could to keep a grin from spreading on his features.

"Why would you tell him that!?" Patton mock gasped. "Now he's going to take you at your word!"

Thomas could feel himself breaking. "Well...I trust he has good friends making sure he regulates his caffeine intake."

Patton kicked his legs a little more. "That's if he listens to us."

Roman gave an offended noise, as both of his hands went to Thomas's neck to steady himself on the internally laughing human. All it did was make Thomas shift about more. "I do too listen to you, Patton!"

Patton giggled and clamped his heels around Thomas's knee cap. "I know you do Roman. I'm only kidding." What Patton just did was akin to someone squeezing Thomas's kneecap lightly and it made him jump ever so subtly. Emile seemed to notice this.

"You doing alright Thomas? You seem a little squirmy today." Oh the torture these three borrowers were putting him through.

Thomas snorted at the words. "I'm good, it's just you three are resting on some of my...er...ticklish spots. I was trying to bear it, but I'm not sure if I can." Thomas chuckled bashfully.

"Oh I'm sorry Thomas!" Emile exclaimed as he stepped away from his foot.

Patton giggled in acknowledgment and jumped off, joining Emile in front of Thomas.

"C'mon Roman, time to come down." Patton called. But due to the lack of movement on his shoulder, Thomas had a nervous feeling that the way Roman would respond to this situation was much different than the other two had.

"Tickle spot, hm?" Roman got a cheeky little smile. He had always wanted to have a bonding moment such as this with Thomas, as he never had the chance to do so before and it might also cheer him up. Perhaps it could even help him think of a title for his new song. It's about laughter after all.

"Wait Roman! I'm not sure that's a good idea!" Emile called out!

"What if you fall!?" But Roman paid them no attention as he quickly scribbled his hands into Thomas's neck. The human squealed and did what he could to not scrunch his neck, lest he hurt the borrower on his shoulder.

"Wahahahahaiit Rohohoman! I dohohon't wahahanna hurt you!" Thomas was wiggling against the back of the sink, trying to cope with the fact that he was being tickled, but couldn't flail because he had three small people to worry about.

"You're not!" Roman exclaimed as he crouched down and trailed his fingers along Thomas's ticklish collarbone and the base of his neck. "See? I'm perfectly fine!" Roman grinned, not noticing the danger of the situation.

"He's not going to stop Patton." Emile said to his friend worriedly.

"I know..." Patton sighed. "Hang on Thomas. I'm coming up. I'll get him off of you." Now when you are being tickled, and you feel something else touch you, it automatically feels like another tickle. So when Patton began climbing up Thomas's leg, it didn't help his situation.

The human gave a loud snort and shook his shoulders violently, only to feel a weight taken off his neck and an indignant screech close to his ear. Thomas's eyes widened with horror and quickly cupped the prince in his hands who was just about to fall off of his shoulder. Emile and Patton both exhaled in relief to see their friend safe.

Roman caught his breath and stood up in Thomas's hands, trying to regain his balance. "Are you alright Roman?"

"Yes! That was quite fun! But I'm not finished yet!" He faced Thomas with the same cheeky smile, before jumping out of his hands and towards his side.

"Yet!?" Thomas yelled as Emile face-palmed and Patton slapped his hands to his mouth.

"Oh dear."

"I'll be in your armpit this time! Closer to the ground and I can use your shirt sleeve as leverage if need be!" Roman boasted as he climbed up Thomas's ribs up to his armpit. Quite soon, Thomas was giggling yet again.

"Rohohoman wait!!" Thomas reached his other hand over to poke at Roman's side as lightly as he could, but it did nothing to stop the prince. Now Thomas faced the new challenge of not clamping his arm down on the borrower clinging to his sleeve.

"Aha! I have the upper hand. My sides are not ticklish Thomas!" As Roman scratched inside Thomas's sleeve, Patton quickly slipped off of Thomas and around to the side Roman was clinging too.

"Do you think you could hoist me up Emile? I might be able to reach his feet and tickle him down." Emile gave a small smile, then nodded. "Don't worry Thomas! Emile and Patton to the rescue! Try to stay as still as possible." With a borrower furiously scratching at his underarm, he wasn't sure how 'still' he could hold.

"Ihihihi'll tryhyhy! Pleahahaase huhuhuhurry!" Emile braced himself against Thomas's hip and then made an under bridge with his hands for Patton. Patton quickly stepped up and Emile was able to push him with both hands up to Roman's whereabouts. Once in reach, Patton grabbed a hold of Roman's boots.

"Roman! Cease thine attack immediately! Or you will force my hand!" Patton called up playfully. Roman now noticed the predicament and tried to free his feet from Patton's grasp, but was unsuccessful.

"Never!" Patton gave a small grin as he began to work off his boots. It wasn't long before he had Roman's bare feet locked in his arm and fingers wiggling over both soles. "Ahahahaha!! Pahahahatton nohohoho!!!" As Roman's laughter grew, his tickling weakened and Thomas was able to gently push the grip on his shirt with a finger from his other hand until Roman fully let go. Thomas quickly clamped his arm down and scratched all the tickly feelings away, watching with relief as Roman fell from his person.

Roman dropped into Patton's arms, which left Emile struggling to hold them up because of the dramatic weight shift. After an extremely cartoony sequence of Emile trying to hold both Patton and Roman up, then wobbling this way and that, they all three dropped on the ground in a fit of laughter.

Thomas wiped his brow, finding himself laughing with them, even if he had just been laughing for the past 2 minutes. He sighed in relief watching as Emile and Patton pinned Roman down and continued to tickle him for the panic and tribulation he had caused. Well, Roman was right about one thing. It truly was wonderful to laugh.

Thomas yawned a bit, letting the tickly sensations slowly leave his body as Emile and Patton tickle chased Roman all over the kitchen floor. His eyes fluttered between the conscious and subconscious world. Taking a couple more glances at the adorable scene in front of him, he decided not to wonder when Virgil showed up to help pin Roman down or when Logan ran in complaining about all the screaming. Instead, Thomas took a nap on the kitchen floor and it was undoubtedly the best nap he ever had.
