Thomas had laid down in bed half an hour ago, trying desperately to sleep. But it seemed as if his mind wouldn't let him and for once it wasn't Virgil's fault. No, the anxious aspect was sound asleep, cuddled into Patton's side in the moral aspect's room. The two culprits were oddly enough Roman and Logan who were both up at this ungodly hour, bickering yet again about Thomas's time management for tomorrow.
The human huffed in annoyance, threw off his covers, and arose from his bed. His hair stuck out in every direction as he sauntered into the kitchen. His eyes were tired, and he kept blinking into the dim pilot light above his kitchen sink. He grabbed a glass from the cupboard and poured some water, remembering he was likely dehydrated from all that soft drink he had while he, Joan, and Talyn were filming the last video.
He took the glass with him into his living room. He could still feel the creative and logical aspects loudly arguing within his mind. All he wanted was for them to shut up so he could sleep in peace. Sleep. Logan knows how much he needs it. So why doesn't the logical aspect have a level head right now?
Thomas decided he had enough. He raised his left arm and brought the arguing aspects into the real world. The sound rang through his apartment and left the human wide-eyed at the noise. At least he was awake now so he could better deal with the situation.
"ENOUGH! BOTH OF YOU! SHUT UP!" The living room went quiet and Thomas found himself being stared at by both aspects, brows pushed to the brim of their bangs in surprise. He rubbed his face. "Guys. Please. Why? Why now? Logan, you know better than anyone that I'm supposed to be in bed and getting some sleep! And Roman, you agreed that you would let me rest once every night. Why in heck are both of you still fighting about this?!" It looked like Thomas was about ready to cry.
Logan and Roman looked at each other, then back at Thomas. Neither of them could find the words to say. Thomas sighed in annoyance. "Well, I am not going back to bed until both of you figure it out. I'll lock you in a room if I have to! But, I'm done. I'm done with you two arguing. We've had several episodes where you seemed to be on better terms, but afterwards it goes back to...THIS!" He gestures to the two of them. "I'm done. I'm finished. I do not care if you both want to continue fighting, because obviously it's not helping me and it's not helping you! I mean look at you two!" They both looked as tired as Thomas, bags under their eyes and pale faces like they hadn't rested for days.
Logan and Roman turned their gazes towards each other, and Thomas let out a sigh of relief as he watched one search the other.
"Is...is that a cheese stain...on your shirt?" Roman asked curiously, pointing to yellow spot on Logan's normally pristine polo. The logical aspect sighed.
"I...haven't been out of my room for a couple days and...I had to rely on unhealthy snacks..." At least he was being honest, Thomas decided. Thomas almost thought Roman would jest, but he didn't and instead showed Logan a wound on his neck.
"I was getting so frustrated that I threw a pencil and it bounced back, accidentally stabbing me in the neck." Logan's eyes widened.
"And...you didn't put antibacterial cream on it?"
"I was...too depressed to."
"You still aren't better are you?" Logan said a hint of softness in his voice.
"...worse..." Roman choked out. Princey was on the brink of a meltdown. Logan took a step back, unsure of what to do. He looked to Thomas who had already gotten to his feet. He knew Roman had been close to tears for months now. His heart broke when he saw him reach for his host, only to drop to his knees. Sobs began to rack his body.
Thomas caught his creativity in his arms and Roman cried out in pain. Not only was Princey depressed, he was touch starved. It certainly didn't help that Thomas had been single for well over two years. Sure Thomas had a lot of his hopes and dreams fulfilled through Vine and youtube, but his longing continued to ache. Of course it affected Roman more than anyone else.
Thomas hooked his arm around the Prince's shoulders and began to walk him in the direction of his bedroom. Roman needed to cuddle. He could feel it. He needed to remind himself that everything is going to be okay.
Logan stood in the living room, watching them walk off and feeling a little lost. He never wanted to add to Roman's low self esteem issues. But, after looking back on all those arguments he wasn't really helping him all that much. He twiddled his thumbs in the middle of the room until he found himself with a face full of towel.
"Logan. Please listen to me. I want you to take a shower, I don't care how long you take, but I want you to join me and Roman in my bedroom after you're finished." Logan was aware he had an odor about him, but he didn't think it was that bad. Perhaps he should have put hygiene as an item of higher importance on his to do list.
Regardless, the logical aspect made his way to the bathroom and began his process of taking a regular 15 minute shower. He had used Thomas's shampoo and conditioner, knowing that all of the sides had the same hair type as Thomas thus it would work perfectly. He stepped out feeling quite relaxed and also very sleepy, which he knew was Thomas's goal. But, there was one problem. Thomas had forgotten to give him clothes to wear. Normally, Logan would sink down to his room and grab a pair of pajamas, but the logical aspect decided he didn't want to. There was something appealing about wearing physical Thomas's clothes and he wasn't sure why.
So after he dried off, he wrapped the towel around his lower half, and walked into Thomas's room. The scene shouldn't have surprised him as much as it did. Thomas lay on his bed, with a disheveled princey (who was now in pajamas) on top of him and nuzzling into his neck. They turned their heads when the door creaked open and both blushed at the sight of Logan in a towel, the prince so much he had to hide his face.
Thomas smiled apologetically towards Logan's direction. "Sorry buddy. Pajamas are kind of important aren't they?"
For the first time in awhile, Logan let a corner of his mouth quirk upwards. "Yes. I suppose they are. May I?"
"Yeah. Help yourself. I can't...exactly get up right now." A muffled whine came from Roman as he glommed onto Thomas. Logan walked to the drawers and settled on a pair of boxers and an old t-shirt Thomas used to wear. Once he was finished, he discarded his towel next to Roman's prince costume and climbed into bed. Once Roman felt the area dip next to him, he rolled off of Thomas and reached for Logan. The logical aspect had no idea what to do, but except his fate. He waved his hands awkwardly unknowing what to do until Thomas guided them to rest on Roman's back. Oh. So this is how it felt to be embraced, and to embrace someone else.
He didn't think he would melt that fast, but once he did, he allowed his body to operate on autopilot. His rubbing movements along Roman's back became much smoother, and the prince visibly relaxed, somehow sapping all the fight either of them had for each other out of existence. Logan looked to Thomas for more guidance, and was prompted to speak first. He knew he needed to apologize.
"Roman?" He began. The prince didn't dare look up. "I am...sorry for all the pain and depression I have caused you...over the years. Perhaps I never meant to, but it affected you all the same. I am willing to work with you in whatever ways that will be more beneficial to your health. Mental, physical, and emotional." He felt Roman shift in his arms and the royal wiggled up in order to talk face to face. To his relief, there were no tears that sprung from those tired eyes, but instead a fire was relit inside them, one that Logan hadn't seen this bright in at least a year.
Roman gave a soft smile, and grasped Logan's shoulders. "Thank you...that helps." He stated simply. "But, we've had this discussion before. I wish for our quarrels to end once and for all." Logan opened his mouth to speak again, most likely going to say that peace between them wasn't entirely attainable, but the prince brought a finger to his lips. "I want to apologize now, for being so stubborn, if not mean. Perhaps I was just lashing out, but...that doesn't make it right. I...rely on your input more than I'd like to admit. You're opinion is one of the most valuable things in the mindscape, and...I'm jealous of that. So, I've been trying to be better than you, instead of working with you." Logan gave a soft smile.
"It's understandable Roman, but all the same I forgive you." The prince snuggled closer to Logan, burying his face in his neck.
"And I forgive you." Thomas rustled a little bit to the side of them and sat up.
"Thank you guys. Like seriously, but I agree with Roman. I don't want you guys fighting this much anymore. Or at least, not like this. I don't want to hear or feel shouting matches again. Do you guys...think you could do that? For me? If not for each other?"
"Oh, Thomas. I would do it for you and beyond." Roman was getting some of his royal accent back again, and Logan was more than pleased.
"And beyond meaning...?"
"Yes you, nerd. You are my beyond." Logan felt his cheeks heat up at the perhaps sweet nickname. Thomas awed behind them.
"Umm...thank you. But, I don't think we can completely stop fighting or arguing. Our jobs still entail we butt heads from time to time." Logan pulled away from Roman slightly and Roman did the same, his hands coming to rest on Logan's sides as he didn't want him to go too far away.
"But that doesn't mean you guys couldn't find healthier ways to get out your frustration for one another. Maybe arm wrestle, or Battleship, or any other type of competitive game." Logan and Roman looked at each other with wary eyes.
"Unfortunately, Thomas. Competitions of strength or skill that have a winning contestant at the end, are probably the opposite of what we need to wind down from each other." Logan said finally.
"Yeahhhh...those wouldn't go over very well." Thomas took his words back, then looked at Roman for a suggestion. He could see and feel the wheels turning inside the creative aspect's head. Of course the activity that Virgil and Patton participated earlier would sway his path of thinking.
"What if..." Roman began. "There was no winning contestant at the end." Logan quirked an eyebrow.
"Please explain..."
"Well..." Roman lightly wiggled his fingers on Logan's sides, causing the logical side to jump and his glasses to become askew.
"You did not..." He responded with slight shock laced intermittent with his irritation. Roman grinned as Logan's hands quickly slithered under the covers to pry Roman's away from his sides.
"I did." He responded confidently. Thomas smiled and began to lightly shift his body in the opposite direction from them, now ready to watch the aftermath of Roman's attempted onslaught.
"That was not a smart idea, Roman." Logan responded. Thomas pulled up the covers and peeked underneath, watching with hilarity as they struggled for power. Roman trying to reach for the logical aspects sides, as the latter kept trying to fight them off.
"What do you mean? You need to laugh more, specs!" Roman feinted Logan to a different spot, but was able to press into his side again.
"Ah! You do not need to tickle me to make me laugh, Roman!" Logan bit his lip, and grasped onto Roman's wrists again.
"With how often you smile, Frames and the Giant Teach. One would think that would be the only way to make you giggle." Thomas shot a warning glance to Roman, but surprisingly Logan waved him down.
"Don't worry, Thomas. He is only playing." Roman's eyes widened at Logan's unusual defense.
"What-but how do you know?" Logan actually smiled and in one motion, dropped Roman's wrists and slipped his thumbs into Roman's exposed armpits. He quickly began to wiggle them, and watched with satisfaction as the prince's face began to contort from confusion into mirth. He squealed at first, but soon dissolved into giggles, clamping his armpits down on Logan's thumbs.
"You wanted to participate in a challenge with no winning contestant, right Roman?" Roman tried to reach to Logan's sides again, but he was too far away, and reaching any further would give Logan more access to his armpits. He eventually got a little frustrated.
"This I-isn't fair!!!" He yelled between giggles. Logan continued wiggling his thumbs. He had to admit, Roman's laughter--his real laughter--was worth any childish activity he had to partake in.
"Isn't it though?" Roman could hear Logan's smirk dripping through his voice. He started tickling because he wanted to hear Logan's laughter, not his own!
"Thomas!!! Thoohomas, help!!!" The human chuckled innocently.
"Don't bring me into this! This isn't my tickle fight."
"Pleahahahahahassseee!!!" Thomas rolled his eyes and crawled over to Logan. The logical aspect shot him a glance.
"If you participate, you will regret this." Thomas moved behind, watching with curiosity as Logan began to shift away.
"The only thing I'd regret is not spending more time with you guys." Logan swore he felt something just then, but it was overcome by the tickling on his sides. He cried out and instantly began to weaken, thumbs slipping out from Roman's armpits.
"Get 'im Thomas..." Roman puffed out the rest of giggles and grabbed at Logan's feet, intent on hearing him laugh. The logical aspect covered his mouth and did his best not to fight Thomas off, but when Roman grabbed his feet he kicked.
"Gah! No!" Logan shouted as Roman sat on his feet and began to scribble along his soles and toes. This finally got a snort and a couple giggles from him. Roman's smile sparkled at the noise and looked back at Logan's face to see him happy and giggly. Thomas smiled at Roman too.
"Get his hips Thomathas!" Logan's hands flew to protect the body part in question, but Thomas poked into his armpits, and it left the spot open again. He quickly squeezed his hips, and Logan (in all his splendor and glory) squeaked.
"Ohoho! Again again!" Roman clapped his hands at the sound, but his smile fell when he saw Thomas whisper into Logan's ear. A brilliant grin spread across Logan's shakey face, and he shot forward and grabbed the prince around his chest, yanking him back.
"Ah!" Roman's hands were yanked away from Logan's feet, and he felt his arms being caught and raised by none other than Thomas himself.
He looked down to realize both of Logan's hands wiggled above his tummy from his position below him.
"Wahahaitt. We can talk about this, right?" Thomas smiled down at him apologetically and the prince shivered as he felt Logan's face shift against his back.
"Do I need to remind you who started this tickle fight?" Roman smiled sheepishly as the hands pulled his shirt up and began to trace the outline of his abs. He snorted and dissolved into giggles again.
"Nohohoho!!! Dohohon't tease!" Thomas stared at Roman's abs.
"You have abs?!" Logan smirked into Roman's back.
"We don't really have tummies Thomas. We are figments of your imagination, thus we can look how we -er you- would like us to look. Roman prefers abs, however. Which is honestly a downfall, because they are more ticklish this way." Roman squeaked when Logan began to scratch against the six pack. He twisted his hands around but Thomas's grasp was too tight. He even tweaked each of the protruding muscles each earning multiple squeaks from the prince.
"TRAHAHAHAHAIIIITORS!!!" He yelled out through his belly laughter, wiggling every which way, but unable to get out of the torturous tickling. Logan blew a raspberry into his back and moved his fingers to Roman's abdomen, now wiggling a pointer finger in his navel and the rest of the fingers wiggling into his lower tummy.
"Uhuhuhuhuncle!!!" Roman eventually gave in and he was released from it all at once. He scrambled off of Logan a safe distance away from both of them clutching his tummy.
"You!!!" He pointed at not Logan, but Thomas with mock betrayal flashing in his eyes. "You turned against me!" Thomas began to feel unnerved as he saw both Logan and Roman's eyes on him. Logan began to arise and Thomas felt himself begin to back towards the wall that bordered the bed.
"You are also the only one in the room, who hasn't been tickled yet. Perhaps we should even the odds, Roman?" The prince began to crawl teasingly towards Thomas watching as the viner began to giggle nervously.
"Oh. We should definitely even the odds." Instantaneously, both sides pounced on Thomas and began to scribble into his neck with all four hands. And even if it was torture to Thomas, after they were finished he had never felt so tired or so at rest. And that night, all of them fell asleep, cuddled next to each other. Logan with his arms around Roman, Roman with his arms around Logan, and Thomas with his arms around the both of them. There had never been another time where Thomas, Roman, and Logan felt this much peace. They all knew things would be different between the logical and fanciful aspects from now on. Not a bad different, but a good different.
