[7] - Moxiety - Cold Kisses

Prompt 10: warmth

--

"Fuck, it's cold." Virgil exclaimed, shoulders drawn high and hands pulled as far back into the sleeves of his jacket as possible. He wasn't even holding his husband's hand because even without direct exposure to the biting wind it felt as if his fingers were well on their way to go numb.

"Mhm." Patton said, the collar of his large jacket pulled up over his nose.

They had checked the temperature and bundled up before going outside for the daily walk that, for whatever stupid reason, was beneficial for their mental and physical health, and yet they had both been shivering before getting half as long as they usually walked.

They had turned back towards their apartment much sooner than what they usually would, giving up on existing outside when the weather was like this. At least the alluring future of wrapping up in blankets and drinking something warm was motivating them both to walk quickly, although Virgil wondered how likely it was that they would both freeze and die before getting back inside.

They hurried through the snow covering the sidewalk, Patton nearly slipping on an icy part of the road and Virgil hurriedly reached out to grab him.

"I'm never leaving home again." He said, wishing desperately that that was a promise he could actually make. But the world was cruel and it was impossible for him to stay in their apartment for the rest of his life.

"I'm gonna need so much cuddles when we get home." Patton said, wiping his nose on the sleeve of his jacket, sniffling.

"I'll gladly help with that." Virgil said, trying to remember the wonderful feeling of being warm and cuddled up together, but he was so cold that it was difficult to imagine anything else than the burning in his fingers. Fuck, this was why he didn't go outside.

Luckily they did make it home without dying of hypothermia or frostbite and Patton was kicking his shoes off before Virgil had even closed the door. He shook his jacket off onto the floor, then immediately looped his arms around Virgil once he had gotten his jacket off too.

"Gimme your warmth." He said, hiding his face into the crook of Virgil's neck.

"Bold of you to assume I'm warm anywhere." Virgil said, rubbing along Patton's arms anyway in case he could warm him up even slightly. Maybe he was not as cold as he had thought, though, because Patton seemed very content to stand pressed to him.

Virgil had half a mind to scold Patton for only wearing a t-shirt under his jacket. He was wearing his hoodie and had been way colder than anyone would have liked to be.

He felt a light and very cold kiss being pressed to his throat, and for once the kiss itself wasn't the reason for the shiver.

"Even your lips are freezing." Virgil complained half heartedly, making no attempt to stop his husband from leaving a trail of kisses along his neck.

"You can help me fix that." Patton said with a slightly mischievous tone of voice as he looked up at him, and what was Virgil supposed to do other than lean in and kiss his husband?

He felt Patton smile against his lips, his hands running down Virgil's sides, and this was definitely an enjoyable way to get warm again. At least until Patton got his hands inside of Virgil's shirt, pressing them to his stomach.

That had him breaking their very lingering kiss and swatting his hands away, pouting at Patton who looked like he was on the verge of laughing.

"Nooo, your stomach was so warm." He said, reaching out for him and giving him that kind of look that would have Virgil give in to just about anything. He took Patton's hands, pulling him in for another kiss that definitely lasted longer than he had planned to because if Patton was good at one thing it was distracting him.

Eventually they did part though, Virgil instantly missing the softness of Patton's lips, but making out in the hallway wasn't what they should be doing.

"Okay, um, I'm gonna change into some warmer clothes." Patton said, flashing him a smile before disappearing into their bedroom.

Virgil, who was already wearing a pair of black sweatpants and his most oversized hoodie, didn't think he could dress any warmer and instead headed to the kitchen, making them both tea while wondering if he was going to regain a normal body temperature sometime soon.

Patton joined him as he was pouring boiling water into their cups, now wearing a pair of gray sweatpants and a baby blue hoodie that he looked very cute and soft in. He had matching blue fluffy socks and he had a blanket over his shoulders like a cape and he slid over the kitchen floor with a grin.

Virgil realized just in time that he had been staring and almost overfilled his cup and he set the electric kettle back in its place, pouring some of the water in his cup into the sink.

"I don't care what anyone says about getting married at twenty, you're so damn cute, how could anyone resist being your husband?" Virgil said, shaking his head, feeling so unbearably happy at being able to refer to himself as Patton's husband.

They'd been married for four months and he was still giddy about it. He was anxious about almost everything and yet, despite people's continuous insistence that getting married young was stupid, marrying Patton was not something he had ever felt worried about.

"Right back at ya, mister." Patton said, sliding up to Virgil and poking a finger to his nose, giggling happily when Virgil poked him right back.

"Snuggles in bed? Patton wondered, bouncing slightly where he was stood, only stilling when Virgil handed him his cup of tea.

"Yeah, definitely." Virgil said with a nod, following Patton towards their bedroom, watching him carefully place his cup on the nightstand before diving into bed, bouncing slightly on the mattress.

Virgil got into bed much more carefully, still holding his cup since there was no room on the nearly overflowing nightstand. He seated himself comfortably against the headboard, only making a little bit of tea slosh over the rim of the cup and making his hoodie a bit wet.

He looked over at Patton who was lying down on his side and observing him. Virgil leaned his head sideways, giving him a quizzical look.

"What?" He asked, giving him a little pout because it was really distracting to have someone be so cute around him all the time. "Stop looking so soft."

"I can't, this is just what I look like when I'm looking at you, Vee." Patton said, sitting up and leaning against Virgil who was pretending as if he wasn't blushing. He had been with this man since he was fifteen, he shouldn't still be making him blush. When the hell was he supposed to gain immunity?

"Drink your tea." Virgil said, hiding his face behind his cup and ignoring Patton's grin as he reached over Virgil for his own cup.

"Tea and movie? Or tea and talking and accidentally taking a nap together." Patton asked, taking a careful sip of his drink. Judging by the face he made Virgil guessed that he had just burnt his tongue.

"Accidental nap sounds great." Virgil chose, even if he was pretty sure either choice would have ended with them falling asleep against each other. (So what if it was three in the afternoon?)

"Good choice." Patton said, snuggling up to Virgil again, taking another, more careful, sip of his tea. Virgil put an arm around his shoulders, pressing a kiss to his hair.

They drank their tea, talking about little unimportant things and laughing, leaving their empty cups on the floor as they eventually ended up lying down together, wrapped up in each other's arms and drowsily keeping up a mumbling conversation.

Maybe freezing half to death in the cold of the winter was worth it, if the outcome was cozy cuddles with his husband.
