[10] - Roloceit - Candles Are Gay

Prompt 9: candles

--

"Candle making?" Logan questioned, putting his bookmark between the pages of his book and looking up at Roman who was standing in front of them with an excited look on his face.

"Yeah! Look, doesn't this look fun?" Roman pushed Logan's book away and seated himself right in Logan's lap, holding his phone up and unpausing a tiktok video, showing it to Logan.

"Jan, look." He said, poking at Janus who had been half asleep and listening to Logan read for the past half an hour. Janus mumbled a little, something neither of them could make out what it was, but he leaned against Logan, looking at the screen of Roman's phone. Roman proceeded to show them about ten videos of people making their own candles, lots of very glittery and colorful candles.

"Doesn't it look like so much fun? I wanna make a gay candle, and you have to help me." He said, tugging slightly at Janus' sleeve.

"Why do we 'have to help' you?" Janus questioned, yawning into Logan's shoulder and sounding as if he very much would rather hide away in either of their rooms to take a nap than indulge Roman in his latest interest.

"Because I love you and I want to spend time with you." Roman stated softly, which at the very least had all of Logan's defenses crumbling, and he was sure that Janus was no better off.

"Also, if I make a mess I don't want to be the only one to blame." Roman said, pressing a kiss to Janus' cheek and then Logan's before slipping down from his lap and onto the floor again.

"Come on, I've already conjured up all the stuff we need, like molds and candle wicks and the wax and the stuff we color it with and glitter." Roman said excitedly, already disappearing towards the kitchen.

His excitement made it impossible for Logan to do anything else than sharing an amused look with Janus and then help his boyfriend up from the couch to follow their other, considerably more energized, boyfriend.

Once they got to the kitchen they found Roman already pouring bits of hardened wax into a metal bowl.

"I want to start with red and it says we only need a few of these, uh, dye chip thingies." Roman said, ripping open a small bag with the, as Roman had called them, dye chips.

"I googled it and you melt candle wax like you melt chocolate." Roman said, carefully putting the bowl in a pot filled with water, making sure that it floated before adding just a few of the tiny red chips.

"We can make several at the same time." Roman said, pointing to other bowls that could go in the two other pots half filled with water.

"If you insist." Janus said, grabbing a bowl and a bag of yellow dye chips and some sort of (also yellow) glitter. Logan didn't see a reason not to join in and filled his own bowl with what he needed, choosing a dark blue as the other two seemed to go with their colors.

Janus put his favorite playlist on as he was slowly stirring the candle wax, which was interrupted by Roman pulling him away to dance along to the music.

Janus rolled his eyes as Roman swayed with him. As if he was above dancing, as if Logan hadn't seen Janus and Roman all dressed up and dancing together in fancy ballrooms in the imagination for hours.

(Logan, however, was not much for dancing, he would usually sit by a table nearby with a glass of wine and a book while his boyfriends danced, now and then glancing up to the sight of Janus and Roman in their ball gowns and suits. Sometimes they would coax him into joining them, though. And, well, dancing could be rather nice when he was in the mood for it.)

Logan took over stirring in all the pots, until all the wax was melted. Then he lifted the bowls to the table, looking over all the candle molds that Roman had conjured up, delighting in finding a TARDIS shaped one.

"Your wax has melted." He told the other two as he attempted to place a wick in the middle of the mold.

He got an acknowledging hum from Janus but it still took a minute before the two of them broke apart, Logan having already poured the blue wax into the TARDIS mould and started melting more wax, purple this time as Roman would need that for his 'gay candle', as he called it, as he claimed that 'candles were gay and for the gays'.

Roman had found a big round mold that would make a ball-shaped candle and he poured some of the red wax into the bottom of it, leaving it to cool. Then he stole Janus' leftover yellow that hadn't fit into his snake mold, mixing part of it with the leftover red to make orange.

Janus made a bunch of glittery snake candles while Roman carefully made his rainbow candle. Logan was mostly helping Roman melt and color candle wax while he waited for his TARDIS candle to cool.

Logan had no idea when they would ever be using all the candles they made, Janus had made a small army of snake candles, having conjured up several more snake molds. Logan made a few black and purple candles, adding glitter and a lavender scent to it, knowing that Virgil would delight over them and maybe he would find them calming when his anxiety was heightened.

Janus saw what he was doing and together they tried to decide what kind of candles to make for Patton.

"Dog, cat, or any other animal candles are ruled out, I'd say. He might cry when they melt." Janus said, dipping his fingertips in a bowl of melted candle wax, studying it closely as the wax hardened.

"Yes, that does indeed seem likely." Logan said and they pondered it slightly before settling to make a baby blue heart and Janus found some flower and cactus candle molds. They made sure to add flowery scents that they know Patton would like.

Remus was easier, Janus simply conjured up molds in the shape of a little trash can, and a rat, and animal shaped molds one could use to make those kinds of animal candles that revealed a metal skeleton when they melted, making most of his candles green and adding scents that no one except Remus would enjoy.

Roman was waiting for his gay candle to cool, currently hogging all the star shaped molds he had conjured up because 'he's a star'. Neither Logan nor Janus would ever try to dispute that.

Roman ended up making a star shaped candle in each of the rainbow colors, explaining that they could line them up and have a little row of candle pride.

Logan hadn't been keeping track of the time, but glancing at his wrist watch told him that they must have been making candles for at least an hour and a half, and it was nearing dinner time. He began to carefully line up all the candle molds on the counter, hoping that they would be kept out of harm's way there.

He felt arms circle around him and someone's chin leaned on his shoulder. He didn't need to glance back to know it was Roman.

"Hello there, love." He said and Roman pressed his cheek to Logan's leaning into him.

"Can I have a kiss, pretty please?" He said as Logan placed two of the candle molds on the counter. Logan turned around in his arms, not hesitating for a moment to kiss Roman who smiled happily and returned to putting away all the candle molds, the wax, the dye chips, the glitter, etcetera, into a box he had conjured up.

Roman walked away with the box and Logan began wiping off the table that they had spilled a considerable amount of glitter on. It didn't take them very long to clean up the kitchen, especially as Roman returned from putting the box away in his room and Janus stopped playing with the leftover candle wax.

"That was fun, right? And we're going to have so many candles now!" Roman said and Logan wouldn't be surprised at all if he (and Janus) would be bringing their candles out for dates and baths and self care days.

"Yes, this has been a very interesting experience." Logan said, glad that he had been made to try something new and glad that he had more knowledge about candle making now.

"It has been delightful, thank you darling." Janus said, stepping in close to Roman and pulling him in for a kiss. Roman didn't seem entirely sure how to respond to that, his face going a bit red. Logan very much liked it any time he had visual proof that he was not the only one of them that was easily flustered by their partners.

"How about we watch a movie now?" Janus wondered, clearly excited to continue lying half asleep with at least one of his boyfriends on the couch. The suggestion made Roman light up, but before he could tell them which movie he wanted to watch the most, Virgil entered the kitchen, throwing an arm around Roman's shoulders.

"Hey, princey. Guess which two are supposed to make dinner today." He said and Roman groaned loudly, looking over at the cooking schedule that was stuck to the fridge with magnets. The schedule did confirm that it was Roman and Virgil who were responsible for cooking dinner.

"The movie will have to wait until after dinner then." Logan said and he and Janus left a mildly pouting Roman in the kitchen (he would be fine, he loved cooking with Virgil and was simply a very dramatic man).

The two of them resumed their previous activities on the couch, sitting down cuddled up together, Logan continuing to read his book out loud as Janus tried to squeeze in a nap before dinner.
