[5] - Logicality - Rain
Warnings: I don't think so
Summary: its raining

It was Roman who had proposed the idea of spending a weekend in the imagination. Thankfully he had created a cottage in the woods because if he had tried suggesting camping then both Logan and Virgil would've been saying no firmly.
But as things were now he'd succeeded in making them agree, convincing Virgil by bribing him with a jar of Nutella and the promise of wifi, and convincing Logan by making Patton ask him with his cute, happy smile and hopeful puppy dog eyes.
Logan hadn't stood a chance, never did when his boyfriend decided to convince him of something.
So here they were, in a small cottage just by the woods, with a lake perfect for swimming only about fifty meters away from the front door.
And the rain was pouring down outside.
Roman had only shrugged and said he didn't have full control over the weather and that they would have to spend the day inside. So far today there had almost been a fight over Monopoly and Roman and Virgil currently weren't speaking to each other. (Ah, the peace and quiet.)
Patton had made cookies, a lot of cookies, sometimes with the help of Virgil. Logan had spent the last couple of hours watching Sherlock and reading.
He was quite satisfied with the weather, actually. Even if he knew some outside activity was most likely beneficial for their health, it was very nice to simply have a day to rest, to not have to deal with all their normal responsibilities. Even Logan did need a break now and then, and he was not the outdoorsy type.
Logan glanced up from his book, seeing how Patton was stood by the window, his hands pressed to the glass and face near enough for his nose to be touching the window too. His breath left fog on the glass that Logan saw how Patton drew a small heart in when he noticed it.
"Lo, come look! It's raining so much." Patton said, eyes staring out at the falling rain and the slowly darkening skies. Logan thought that it was quite unnecessary for him to join Patton in watching the rain since he was very aware of the rain already. It was impossible not to be when it'd been pouring down all day.
And yet Logan found himself putting his book down and standing up, joining Patton by the window.
"Yes, I'm very glad that we're inside." He said, Patton humming as a response and most likely not listening that much. Then he whirled around towards Logan and grabbed one of his hands with both his.
"Logan," Patton said with the kind of voice that told Logan that he was going to say something that would make Logan wish that Patton was speaking to someone else, "let's go swimming!"
He had been right.
Logan most definitely did not want Patton to drag him out into the pouring rain to swim in the lake. (He ignored the fact that Patton would make him agree somehow.)
"Patton, no. It's pouring down outside, we'll get drenched before even reaching the lake, we might as well stand in the shower fully clothed, at least that would be warm." Logan said, already knowing that Patton had made his mind up and that his book would have to wait.
"That's part of the fun, Logan, come on now!" Patton said with a huge smile, already pulling a slightly reluctant Logan with him. Logan couldn't resist that smile anyway. He was pulled to the front door and then yanked his hand free from Patton's hold to begin looking for his shoes.
"Where the hell are you two going in this weather?" Virgil asked from the kitchen, who's doorway opened up to the hall. Logan glanced there, seeing Virgil sat on the kitchen table, jar of Nutella in one hand and a spoon in the other. Logan wished he could lecture him for eating Nutella straight out of the jar, but Virgil would surely only mention Crofters if Logan tried to talk to him about what he was eating.
"We're going swimming!" Patton exclaimed, pulling his socks off before turning back towards Logan who was not exactly sharing Patton's excitement.
"You won't need shoes, they'll just get wet anyway." He said, then opening the door and stepping outside. Virgil looked at Logan with a raised brow and an amused smile on his face.
"Really?"
"Yes... We are going swimming." Logan said and sighed as he took his socks off, for a moment wondering if he should discard any more clothing since going outside would surely not leave them dry for very long.
"Well, okay, you two have fun. I'm going to go jumpscare Roman. Maybe he'll do that high pitched scream again." Virgil said, putting the Nutella jar down on the table.
Last time Logan had heard something from Roman was half an hour ago when he had declared he was going to take a bath, which meant he was most likely sat in the bathtub with a lot of bubbles in his water, plus a face mask on his face.
Logan had seen him with a face mask on once, at midnight when he hadn't been expecting anyone else to be awake. It had truly been terrifying.
"Um. You do that." Logan said as Virgil hopped down from the table and walked past Logan before disappearing up the stairs. Logan didn't want to stay to see what would happen and instead walked outside too, closing the door behind himself.
Patton was already out on the lawn, quickly continuing down towards the lake. Logan huffed, arms crossed over his chest and shoulders pulled up as he hurried after Patton, not at all enjoying all the cold raindrops landing on him. Patton pulled his shirt off, stopping by the edge of the lake before taking his pants off too, then placing them in a pile on the sand, his glasses on top.
Logan did not entirely see the point in taking his clothes off as they'd surely become just as wet on land in this weather, if they'd just wait a few minutes, but he did as Patton and then joined him where he was standing with water up to his knees, waiting for Logan. He took a few careful steps out into the water, which actually was not as terribly cold as Logan had expected it to be.
He'd still rather be inside, though.
"Come on." Patton said, grabbing Logan hand again, pulling him closer as he backed further out. Logan let him, trying not to mind the rain which was colder than the water of the lake which had at least had days of being warmed up by the sun.
Then Patton seemed to slip, or he possibly simply wanted them to dip themselves into the water, anyway Logan found himself being pulled with Patton down under the surface.
There was a moment of all sounds being muted before Logan once again got his head above the surface of the water, Patton appearing too a split second later, swiping his fringe and as much water as he could from his eyes. He locked eyes with Logan and then burst out laughing, which was incredibly annoying as it forced a smile to Logan's lips. It was simply quite impossible, at least to Logan, not to smile when Patton expressed joy.
The raindrops hit the surface of the lake and caused ripples in the water, smaller drops seemingly bouncing up from the surface.
"Stop that." He said swatting his hand at Patton as he tried to hide his smile, a few drops of water from his hand hitting Patton who was already soaked from the lake water and the rain but who apparently saw Logan's action as a start of a war. He cupped his hands right below the surface and splashed as much water as he could manage in Logan's face, him failing greatly at protecting himself with his arms.
"No." He said, taking a step back in the water, which reached him and Patton up to their chests. Patton paid his protests no mind and instead splashed him with water again. Logan decided enough was enough and he grabbed a hold of Patton's wrists, pulling him in closer and kissing him, effectively distracting him.
They parted and Patton grinned as if this had all been going according to his plan and Logan did his best to take a breath after his boyfriends bright smile had practically stolen all the air from his lungs. Logan had had no idea Patton could look that pretty even while standing in a lake with rain pouring down over them, and Logan wasn't even wearing his glasses (everything in the distance was blurry).
Logan leaned in and kissed him again.
He'd likely never get over how well Patton's soft lips fit with his and how there was always a flutter in his chest. They parted again and Logan's eyes blinked open, he hadn't even realized he'd closed them.
Logan let go of Patton, hoping that without his glasses he wouldn't be noticing the color on Logan's cheeks.
"Patton, I love you." Logan said softly, but loud enough not to be silenced by the ever so persistent rain.
"I love you too, Logan. So much." Patton threw his arms around Logan and hugged him tightly before letting go and taking a step back. It wasn't the first time Logan had told him, not anywhere near the first time, but based on Patton's reaction each time Logan always found himself wondering if he should be telling him more often. He did try to, and he was definitely becoming less awkward about his feelings.
Having had Patton so close for that short moment made him feel strangely cold now, but as Patton started swimming further out into the lake Logan followed him without complaint. A few meters out they could no longer touch the bottom of the lake with their feet, perhaps if they'd dive down, but Logan was not ready to do that and he hoped Patton wouldn't be attempting it.
Currently Patton was floating around on his back, staring up at the sky and likely getting hit in the face by raindrops. Logan wished the rain would stop and the clouds would disappear from the sky to show what was probably an impressive amount of stars.
He just really hoped an opportunity to bring Patton out to stargaze with him would arise soon, it was a date he'd had in mind for a while now, not only because he enjoyed stargazing but because he thought Patton would enjoy it too. Logan loved sharing things he found special with Patton, because Patton himself was so special to him.
He let his hand reach out and grasp Patton's shoulder, careful to not put any weight on him.
"It's starting to get fairly dark outside and we're both quite cold, perhaps it would be wise to be heading back inside soon." Logan said, Patton immediately pouting.
"We have plenty of opportunity to swim more tomorrow when the weather will hopefully have improved." Logan pointed out, Patton considering his words for a moment.
"Alright then, we'll go inside." He said, starting to swim back towards the shore.
"Plus, I am kind of starting to get cold." He admitted as Logan followed him.
They dragged themselves up from the water, and gathered up the clothes they'd left in the sand by the lake, putting their glasses back on before rushing up to the house, not wanting to spend any more time in the rain than necessary now.
They stepped inside and closed the door behind them, finding themselves standing on the carpet in the hall and dropping water on it. They were slightly out of breath from running up to the house and Logan was definitely beginning to shiver a bit now, longing for dry and warm clothes.
"This was fun, wasn't it?" Patton said, pushing his hair out of his eyes and then snapping his fingers to become dry in a mere second. Another snap of his fingers and he was dressed in a pair of light blue sweatpants and his cat hoodie. Logan did the same, switching into his most comfortable clothes and making a little movement with his hand to move their wet clothes, hopefully to the dryer.
"I'll admit that the experience was not as horrid as I had expected it to be... And I will not be totally opposed to one day doing this again." Logan said, his honesty being rewarded with a bright smile from Patton and a kiss pressed to his cheek.
"Should we go cuddle on the couch? I know you want to resume reading your book." Patton said and Logan smiled and nodded.
"Wonderful idea." He said and Patton grasped his hand, pulling him along towards the living room. They sat down together, Patton refusing to let go of Logan's hand and Logan not minding because holding Patton's hand was worth having to hold his book with one hand.
"We should do stuff like that more often." Patton said, leaning his head on Logan's shoulder and watching as Logan tried opening his book and removing the bookmark without the book shutting so he'd lose his place.
"Yes, I suppose we should." Logan said, thinking that he was quite lucky to have someone like Patton to drag him into situations he'd otherwise avoid, because he did always end up having quite a good time if he was with Patton.
