Library (R Logicality)

Requested. Also, uhhh bit of an awkward question, but would anyone who reads this be at all interested if I were to write a oneshot that.... is basically just smut? Lol I have a oneshot idea but I'm a bit too nervous to really post it agh-

The first time Patton had met Logan was in this same library he visited him in nearly every weekend by now. It had amazingly been around two years since they're original meeting, and Patton found that everyday that he saw Logan his interest in him grew even more since the first time.

Patton had just been looking for a book that his friend had recommended him. His friend had checked it out of the very same library, so told him he would be able to find it there. It probably shouldn't have been such a significant day in Patton's life, and yet it had been.

He had waited by the checkout desk, unsure of where anyone was to help him. He didn't have a library card, so he needed help to have one made for him. Noticing a bell sat atop the desk he tapped it once. The noise was a lot softer than he expected, but it worked to gain someone's attention.

"Just a moment," he heard someone speak from a room behind the counter. Patton had waited obediently, and just as promised a moment later a man Patton's age was stepping through a door to help him. A jaw-dropping handsome man, who immediately distracted Patton entirely from everything else around him. Including, apparently, the mans voice asking him what he needed help with.

Patton had watched the mans face, catching the quirk of one of his eyebrows and how the corners of his lips ticked upwards into a barely there smile. He was only snapped out of his reverie when a hand passed in front of his face. He jumped a little, eyes going wide and cheeks burning a dark shade of red as he finally realized he had been staring. "I-I'm sorry, I didn't quite catch what you said."

"No worries, I was simply asking what it is you required help with?" The man-Logan, Patton read on his name tag-questioned. Patton's focus was now on how pleasant this mans voice was, and he wondered if there was anything not attractive about him.

Right, Patton flushed further as he remembered why he was here. Library card. I just have to ask about a library card.

"I-I, um..." Patton spoke eloquently, abruptly setting down the book he wanted to check out on the counter. "I need to-to check this out, but I don't have a library card."

Logan nodded, doing something on the computer in front of him, the tiny smile still present on his lips. He turned his gaze back to Patton a moment later, Patton doing everything in his power not to get lost in his beautiful eyes. "I just need to see some identification, and I can get you one."

Patton nodded, fumbling to get his license from his wallet. He managed to get it out of his pocket, only for it to fall to the ground as he sighed. "S-sorry," he mumbled to Logan with an awkward smile before leaning down to grab it. "I'm being more clumsy than usual today."

"It is alright, there is no rush." He assured, taking his license once Patton rose and putting things into the computer again. He passed it back a few moments later, and soon enough handed over Patton's new library card and his now checked out book as well. "You will need to return the book within three weeks, or you will be charged a fine for keeping it longer."

Patton nodded his head, smiling at Logan again as he gathered his things. "Thanks!"

"See you in a few weeks, then." Logan nodded back, hopefully not noticing the way the tips of Patton's ears had gained a light shade of pink at the notion of seeing him again soon.

****

Patton was sure he would never forget their first meeting, even after all this time had passed. It was the reason he and Logan were so close now. He had never lost that initial attraction to Logan, instead becoming more and more interested as time passed. He had a huge crush on the man, which was obvious to all of Logan's coworkers who saw them interact weekly. The two got teased for it every time they were around, and by now even few other regular library-goers had taken notice of them.

Despite the teasing and consistent pressuring to just ask each other out already, neither of them had yet. Patton was just so sure that Logan couldn't return these feelings, and even Patton had to admit Logan was awful at noticing feelings so he probably hardly even noticed Patton had them for him. Still, this wouldn't stop him from being friends with the other.

"So, got any recommendations for me this week?" Patton asked, smiling brightly at Logan. He had a blush on his face the same from the day they met-he never could get rid of it around him, but Logan never mentioned it.

Logan gave one of his own tiny smiles back, already prepared for Patton's question. He pulled out a book he had saved behind the counter, passing it to him and letting him look over the cover. Logan was great at picking out things Patton loved to read-although, that could just be because all of the books he recommended reminded him of Logan, which meant he couldn't possibly dislike them.

"This book is actually one of my favorites," Logan explained, his voice sounding... different, for some reason. Softer. Unsure. "I don't normally enjoy romance very much, although with this book I can make an exception. You see... it reminds me very much of someone I like a lot. In... a romantic sense, that is."

"What's it about, exactly?" Patton asked, meeting Logan's eyes. He could tell this really did mean a lot to Logan, and his heart melted knowing he trusted Patton enough to tell him about it.

"A librarian. Well, partly. It's about him and... a person who regularly visits the library. A good friend of his. Someone that he is very quick to fall in... love with." He explained carefully, Patton's breath catching in his throat as he listened. This sounded awfully familiar, for sure.

"Does it... have a happy ending?" Patton asked, still looking directly into Logan's beautiful eyes.

"The book does, yes." Logan nodded, unable to meet Patton's gaze with his next words. "I'm... unsure about my story. Or, our story, perhaps?"

Patton's eyes stung a little with happy tears, trembling smile overcoming his lips. He couldn't quite believe that this was truly happening.

"I think our story does have a happy ending." Patton said, taking one of Logan's hands and pausing. "No, that's not right... not an ending. A happy beginning."

Patton nodded to himself, finally meeting Logan's eyes again. "I... I've loved you for a very long time, Logan."

"I love you as well." Logan offered a small smile. He grunted as he was met with a weight crushing into him, pair of arms around his shoulders. He smiled a little wider as he wrapped his arms back around Patton, a kiss pressed to the top of his head. "This certainly is a very happy beginning."

I really hope this was good!! I won't usually do requests that aren't very specific, but I actually did have an idea related to a library so it worked out this time. There aren't exactly lots of hugs, but I hope this was good anyways!

Also regarding my question before lol, not sure if this makes it more interesting or not but the oneshot idea mentioned..... may have something to do with another one of my sanders sides books..... I won't tell anything else about it, but I do want to know if anyone's actually interested in it, or I won't write it. It's just... an idea I've had in my head for a bit, that I'd kind of like to write but am also nervous to-idk. Up to you guys if it happens or not.

Anyways, thanks for reading this!! *someone real shifty-looking offers you the choice of a red or blue ring pop* Thanks to Paradox-Puzzler for the suggestion!!! Take care of yourselves. Bye!-Bob
