Do You Trust Me? (P Prinxiety & Logicality)
Requested. AU
"C'mon, Virge! What's the point of going to a theme park if you don't ride any of the rides?" Patton tried to convince his friend, tugging him towards one of the rollercoasters in the park.
"There are lots of other things to do at theme parks that don't involve rollercoasters! I don't understand why I have to ride anything." Virgil complained, trying to tug his arm away from Patton's tight grip. "You like them, so I don't mind watching you ride but I'd prefer to stay on the ground and play games instead."
He finally wrenched his arm free, coming to a stop as Patton turned around to pout at him. "Can't you just give it a try? It's good to face your fears, and you might end up really liking it!"
Virgil huffed, pouting right back at his friend. "No."
Patton frowned before a thought came to him. "I won't make you go out to eat at a restaurant tonight. We can go home, eat pizza, and watch whatever movie you want! Just try it, please? Just this one time."
Virgil knew at this point he probably wasn't going to be able to refuse for much longer, so he tried to come up with any possible excuse to get out of this. He remembered the bags on his arms suddenly, lifting them up so Patton would take notice. "Someone has to stay here with the bags."
"I'll do it." Patton shrugged, already beginning to take them from his hands. Virgil began to look a little panicked.
"N-no! You're not going to make me go alone!" He insisted, pulling the bags closer to himself so Patton couldn't get them. Patton pouted once more, before something behind him caught his eye.
"I think I might have an idea!" He said, hand clasping onto Virgil's tightly as he began to pull him along again, ignoring Virgil's protests and calling out to someone. "Logan, hey Logan!"
Virgil looked around to see who he could be talking to, his eyes landing on two boys around their age that stopped and turned to them at Patton's shouting. They reached the two of them quickly, Patton letting go of Virgil once he stopped walking and started to greet the other boy.
"Logan, it's funny to see you here! This is my friend, Virgil! I'm trying to convince him to ride a rollercoaster, but he's being stubborn. He doesn't want to go alone, but I have to hold the bags." Patton rushed to explain, barely giving Logan any time to even return his greetings.
"Uh... well, it is nice to meet you, Virgil. Patton has told me quite a bit about you. As for the roller coaster, Roman was just about to go on one, of you'd like to join him." He offered, Patton beginning to bounce with excitement at the suggestion.
"Awesome! I'll stay down here with Logan to watch our stuff, and you can get to know Roman while you wait in line!" Patton agreed for Virgil, who spluttered, searching for a response.
"B-but, don't you three want to go? I'm fine staying down here, I can watch everyone's stuff while you go!" He offered instead.
"I am not a fan of rollercoasters. They don't scare me, but I don't find them particularly exciting either. I came because Roman insisted on it." He answered, making Patton grin wider and Virgil's lips tug further downward in his worried frown.
"And I want to stay here to catch up with Logan for a bit! I'm sure Roman would love to have someone to go with!" Patton insisted, and Virgil couldn't possibly argue anymore. He frowned, visibly nervous at having to go.
"If it help you to feel a little less nervous, it is statistically highly unlikely for you to get injured or killed on a rollercoaster. The likelihood of an injury is between one and 24 million, and the chance of death is one in 750 million." Logan informed him, and Virgil had to admit that it did help a small amount. He grumbled something about it still being possible despite those odds, begrudgingly handing over his bags to Patton and looking at Roman to lead the way, ignoring the encouragements from Patton about facing his fears.
Virgil followed Roman wordlessly into the line of one of the theme parks rollercoasters, growing more and more nervous every step he took towards the gigantic death-machine. The intimidating man in line before them with the scar on half of his face, talking about how tall and how fast the ride was certainly wasn't doing anything to help, and the fact that the line was moving quickly didn't either.
Roman, noticing his worry, finally spoke up from beside of him. "Just remember what Logan said. It was a super nerdy thing to remember, which I'll have to make fun of him for later, but knowing that should help you be less scared."
"How do you even know what he said was true?" Virgil questioned, not sure that it wasn't just a lie to make him feel better.
"I've known Logan forever." Roman shrugged, looking back at Virgil softly, genuinely trying to reassure him. "Annoying as it is, he's never wrong about anything. Well, there was this one time when Patton was hanging out with us where he used the word infinitesimal wrong, but that's an entirely separate story! I'm sure he's right about this."
Virgil didn't know if he could fully believe him, but he decided he really didn't have a choice. He chose to believe that it was true, trying desperately to calm himself down as they continued to approach the front of the line. It really wasn't working much, and Roman once again took notice of this. Thinking silently for a moment, Roman smirked and turned to face Virgil. He bowed down dramatically, holding out his hand and meeting Virgil's eyes.
"Do you trust me?" He asked, as serious as possible but his grin kept breaking through. Virgil actually managed out a laugh at the action.
"I literally met you five minutes ago," he reminded, shaking his head. "Also Aladdin, seriously? You're quoting that right now?"
"What can I say, I really love Disney." He shrugged, before shaking his head and getting back to his point. "But-come on, Virgil! I'll let you hold my hand the entire time, so if anything did happen-which it won't- I'll be able to keep ahold of you until the ride stops!"
Realizing the moment had actually managed to distract him from his anxious thoughts, Virgil finally sighed and shrugged. He put his hand in Roman's, unable to help his smile as Roman beamed at him.
"Fine," He said finally, looking back to find them at the front of the line, being urged to get onto the ride. "You'd better not let go."
Even if it was still a little scary, Virgil had a great time riding with Roman. Despite his vow to Patton once they got back to him and Logan to never get onto one again, he really was glad he had convinced him to try it. Though, he was a lot happier at being able to go back to his place with the three of them to order a pizza, finding it to be the perfect end to their day at the theme park.
The names cut off, but this was requested by Paradox-Puzzler ! Hope you enjoyed it. ^•^
Today's actually ended up being a quiet evening on my vacation at my grandparents house, so I've had the time to sit down and work on the requests you've given me. I'll attempt to get another one done today, but make no promises. I also need to finish up this next chapter for HHS.
Anyways, thanks so much for reading this! Hope you all enjoyed it. *your best friend mock-proposes with a ring pop* Thanks to Paradox-Puzzler for the suggestion! Take care of yourselves. Bye!-Bob
