You're Not Gay

Remember the Secret Spy oneshots? Well, apparently, a lot of you wanted me to make it into an actual book, which I'd be happy to do so. I've improved my writing since then, and I actually have a great way on how I think it should go. (Not exactly how it did in the oneshots) So let me know if it's a good idea (:

Roman Eryns. That was the popular kid who had a different girlfriend every week. He was constantly being confessed to by girls who wanted to be seen with him because of his good looks. He wasn't just good looking, he also had the best grades, and the best athletic skills. He was perfect.

"The sports festival is coming up next week and I want you all to be prepared!" The coach shouted. "Get on the ground and give me twenty! And when you're done, run around the track until everyone has ran at least two laps!" He blew his whistle and everyone dropped to the floor.
As expected, Roman was the first to be running. Did he even sweat? All the girls faked their way out of the push ups so they could swoon over him. He had already ran two laps before anyone else got up.
What a show off. Virgil thought. He finished his push ups and started running. It's like having the "perfect body" means your sweat glands completely disappear and your lungs are suddenly working double. I've only completed one lap and I'm already sweating. But, I don't really have the most athletic body, either.
Once everyone finished their laps, they all sat down on the bleachers, panting. Roman took his water bottle and dumped the water on himself, making the girls squeal.
"Enough girls!" The coach bellowed. "I'll be assigning games according to your last class of the day." He flipped the papers on his clipboard before finding what he needed. "Class 1-A will be playing volleyball first!" He continued assigning the games until he got to Virgil's class. "Class 2-B, you'll be doing the relay race!"
Virgil groaned and caused looks from people, which ensued whispering about him. He was used to it, everyone always talked about him. He was the "dark kid" in the school.
"I'll dominate the relay race!" Roman said proudly.
"Of course you will, baby." His girlfriend, who was currently miss perfect, Bethica, said. What kind of name is Bethica, anyways?
She took his arm and leaned against him, which made Virgil feel sick. She always made everyone believe that she was the one who was going to stay with Roman forever. But he never looked comfortable with her pulling him around, and it was obvious. However, everyone was too afraid to confront her.

Virgil walked into the comic store and looked around for the newest edition of Demon Slayer, a manga he's been reading lately. He reached for the book and picked it up. After turning around to go pay, he stopped in his tracks. He noticed a familiar looking guy in glasses. Glasses that he never usually wore.
"Roman." He mumbled. The other jumped and turned around, holding a mamga close to his chest. "So, Mr. Perfect is a weeb, huh?"
Roman fixed his glasses and cleared his throat. "I-I was just checking it out because a g-girl recommended it." He looked everywhere but at Virgil.
"And the glasses?" He said, not buying anything the "prince" was saying.
"I-I usually wear contacts.. reading glasses, you see?" He clutched the book tighter, it making a crinkling sound under him.
Virgil glanced down and pointed at it. "What manga?" He asked.
Roman looked at him, surprised, then he noticed the manga Virgil was also holding. "O-Oh! It's uhm," he held it out, pretending not to know what it was. "Haikyuu."
"You do know that's the fifth volume, right?" He pointed out. "Just admit it, you're a fan of manga and anime."
"Okay fine! I am! But you can't tell anyone at our school." He stood straight. "This conversation never happened. "He turned and walked away, shielding his face from others.

Virgil sat down at his desk the next day. He pulled the manga out of his bag and began reading. He wasn't ashamed of it, unlike a little someone he knew. He kept reading until the bell rang, when the teacher told him to put it away.
Lessons were boring as usual. No one cares about the Greeks. (I do) They're just another stupid ancient civilization that thought the earth was flat. (They actually thought the earth was a dome, calling the top of it "Zenith".)
He opened the manga under the desk and continued reading out of the teacher's sight.
After the bell rang, Virgil didn't get up. He grabbed his lunch box out of his bag and began eating. He set the finished manga in his bag and stared out the window, which his seat was conviently right next to.
He watched as a girl pulled Roman away from other people. She's confessing. He looked over and noticed Bethica, the girl Roman still hasn't broken up with. She was eaves-dropping. Virgil knew how it was gonna go. The girl will confess, Roman will accept it, and then Bethica will storm out and it'll become a huge fiasco.
But that's not what happened at all. Roman rubbed the back of his neck as the girl put her head down. He rejected her. And that's when Bethica walked out and hugged Roman from behind, smirking at the girl and giving her looks, probably saying shit about her. Roman was clearly uncomfortable with the situation.
Unconsciously, Virgil knocked on the window, and when they looked over, he flipped Bethica off. And let me tell you, it was not pretty. She stormed inside, which Virgil assumed she was on her way to him right now. He kept eating his food as she stomped up right next to him.
"Did you just flip off my boyfriend?!" Virgil stopped. She thought he was flipping off Roman? "Are you jealous? Well I'm sorry I'd rather date a prince other than a pig like you." She looked him up and down. "Why do you dress like that? Are you a satanist or something?"
Virgil finished chewing and then faced her. "I was not flipping off Roman. I was flipping off you. You're the one who was being an asshole to that girl for confessing to your boyfriend. I've seen it more than once. And plus, we all know you two won't last." He looked away and took another bite of his food.
She gasped, and turned, flicking her auburn hair behind him. She stormed past Roman who was standing at the door. He looked at Virgil, then went after Bethica.
       "Shit.." Virgil mumbled.

Virgil set his bag on his bed and opened it. He grabbed the papers they did in geometry to try and study, but the work he did, he doubted was right in any way.
"I can't study this.." he looked at one of the questions. It was asking what kind if triangle the given picture was. And he wrote a three sided triangle.
He threw the papers in the air in anguish. "I can't study these!" He complained. He fell to the floor and grabbed his phone. He wish he had friends to help him study, but the truth was, no one wanted to be his friend. Everyone was afraid of him.
He clutched his phone tighter. "Am I.. really that bad?" He asked himself, staring at the floor. He thought about Roman, who was good at everything.
"No way! Nuh uh! I am NOT going to ask that egotistical bastard to help me study! He's too narcissistic, he'd just be bragging about how good he is! No way! Not happening!"

It happened. But it wasn't Virgil's fault. It was Roman who asked Virgil to help him study. How was he supposed to help Roman study? He didn't even need studying! He always go top of the class. And why was he asking him of all people?
       "No." Virgil said plainly.
"Please! I-I'll pay you!" Roman said, bringing out a wadded up ten dollar bill.
"Put that away! You're making me look like an asshole who's trying to take your money!" Virgil swatted his hand as others stared. "Fine, I'll help you study."
"Really?! Thank you!" Roman went to hug him, but Virgil put his arm out to block him.

"So," Virgil began. "What's the real reason you're here?" He threw his bag in front of his bed and turned to face the other.
"To study, of course!" Roman said, hoping to keep the real reason a secret, but he knew Virgil was smarter than that.
"You don't even need studying. You get straight A's." He crossed his arms.
Roman glanced at one of the papers Virgil threw on the floor the day before. He picked it up and read it, trying not to laugh at the answers. Virgil's face went red as he snatched the paper back.
"Quite your laughing!" He barked. "So what if I'm not that good?"
Roman wiped away the tears. "No no. I'll help you. See? It really is just a study session." He smiled and sat down on the floor in front of the small coffee table.
"Let's start with geometry, since the test is coming up." He took the paper back from Virgil and started explaining.
He stopped midway. He stared at the paper and then glanced up at Virgil, who was confused as to why he stopped. Roman set the paper down.
"Forget it." He said. "I'll tutor you, but I need to get something off my chest." He fiddled with his thumbs. "I, uh.. I-I like you.." he looked at the floor.
"No." Virgil said, visibly shaking. "No you don't."
"What?" He looked up. "Y-Yes I-"
"No you don't. You like girls, like everyone else! You're normal. And I'm not going to stop you from living a normal life with a girl. You're just confused with my feminine looks." He took a deep breath. "You're not gay." He looked down, ashamed of himself for even mentioning the word.
"Can I just mention one thing?" Roman said. "I've dated girls, yes, but I always agreed to go out with them while I was single because I was scared to hurt them! To-to let them down. So I always said yes. And then Bethica came along, but I didn't want to be with her. I didn't want to be with any of them. However, you gave me the perfect chance to break up with her. And-and I know it's weird, but.. I-I like you." He said again.
Virgil kept his head down. "It's not weird.." he said quietly. He raised his head, but didn't look at Roman. "We should stop here. Go home." He began cleaning up.
"O-Okay." Roman started helping. "I'm sorry." He got up and walked away. "Bye, see you tomorrow." He said before closing the door.
       "Yeah.. okay."

Roman stood in the shower, staring at the wall and smiling. He said I wasn't weird. He didn't deny the fact that we were going to talk tomorrow. To possibly hang out. I don't get why people hate him. He's the absolute best! Very stubborn.. but he's nice.
       He sighed and got out.

Virgil sat in the shower, covering his mouth so he wouldn't make noise. He's not gay. He's just confused. He likes girls. Stop it Virgil! Let him live a normal life. I have to stay away from him, or else people will start attacking me with words. They'll spew insults about how I'm "corrupting" him. Leave him alone. He needs to spend the rest of his life with a girl. Not you.
He choked on his tears but tried to stay silent.

The next day, Virgil noticed something strange. As he went to sit down, he noticed Roman. Not just normal Roman. But the one he saw in the comic store. The one with glasses, openly reading his manga.
Roman noticed Virgil staring and smiled. He waved, but Virgil turned away and sat at his desk. Roman put his hand down and continued reading.
"What the hell are you doing?!" Virgil asked, walking up to Roman after the bell rang. "Are you trying to ruin your reputation?!"
"What?" Roman noticed he was talking about the glasses and manga. "Oh, well, I was tired of having to hide my true self. And I figured if I showed myself, then girls would stop asking me out. I just want to be normal. And prove to you," he pointed at him. "That I am not interested in anyone but you."
Virgil blushed. "You're never going to get a girlfriend this way!" He pointed out.
Roman closed his locker and smiled at him. "I don't want a girlfriend." He said before walking away.
"Wh-what?" He noticed the bell ring. "Wait!" He ran down the hall to his class.
He walked in late and sat down, earning looks from his classmates. He set his stuff on his desk and looked out the window. Everyday he always saw Roman being confessed to by a different girl, but now, he's never going to see that again.
"Aw! You look so cute with glasses!" A girl said from across the class. "I've also read Haikyuu! I've even seen the anime, it's my favourite!"
Virgil looked over at Roman. You've got to be kidding me. He thought. He watched as the girls flirted with the new him. He noticed how uncomfortable Roman was.
Virgil cleared his throat loudly, getting the attention of the teacher. He nodded towards the gaggle of girls crowding the "prince."
"Oh. Uh, girls! That's enough! Go to your seats and open your textbooks!" The put on his reading glasses and opened the book.
Roman looked at Virgil and mouthed a thank you. Virgil looked away, ignoring him.

"Go away." Virgil said as Roman walked up to him at lunch.
"Why should I?" He teased. He sat down next to him in the courtyard.
"Because, people will see us together. They'll hate me for being near you. They'll tear me apart." He continued reading Assassination Classroom.
"They can try. But I'll protect you." Roman smiled and started reading the next volume of Haikyuu.
Virgil blushed and hid his face with the book. "Shut up. You're weird."
Two girls walked up to them and looked down. They completely ignored Virgil, and started talking to Roman. "Hey, we're going to karaoke after school, we were wondering if you'd wanna go with us?" They asked.
Roman smiled at them. "Sorry, but I've got plans after school." He glanced at Virgil, who was ignoring their conversation.
"Oh okay, maybe some other time, then." They turned and started whispering. "Why's he hanging out with Sanders? Gross." They both giggled.
Virgil clutched his manga tight. "You really should stop hanging around me." He said quietly.
"Nope." Roman said cheerfully. He opened his manga back up. "I'm coming over, by the way."
"I promised myself to stay away from you, so that you can continue a normal life. Why are you being so persistent?" Virgil stared at Itona in his book, admiring his looks.
Roman looked at him through the corners of his eyes. He smiled. "Your just bad at keeping promises. I'm not though. And I promise to make you mine. I promise to live the rest of my life with you." Now it was his turn to admire Yamaguchi's looks in Haikyuu.
Virgil's whole face went red, and he hid in the pages of his book. "O-Okay.." he mumbled. "But!" He raised his head and looked at Roman. "I don't want to ruin your life! I want you to be happy!"
Roman glanced at him, frowning. "Then stay with me."
Virgil blushed some more, and sat back against the tree. He read as Yuumi tried to shoot the teacher, and failing miserably.

Roman pushed himself onto Virgil, kissing him. He grabbed his hair and pulled it back.
Virgil lightly pushed him back. "Roman, I don't kno-"
"Shut up. You're going to say it's not a good idea, but if I'm being honest, it's the best idea I've ever had." He kissed his cheek. "So be quiet."
"I-I just think.. you should be with a girl... not a guy. Especially a guy like me. A loser, with a prince." He noticed Roman look down, tears falling down his cheeks. He blushed and took his face, staring at him for a second before continuing to kiss him.
       "What a masochist." Roman teased.
"You wanna see masochist? I'll show you masochist." He stood up and pulled Roman to the bed.
"See? Now you're getting it." He pulled Virgil down on top of him.
They both jumped at the sudden knock on the door. "Are you expecting someone?" Roman asked.
"No- FUCK!" He yelled, quickly getting up and running to the door, almost falling on the ground. "Auntie!"
"Hey sweetie." She smiled and hugged him. "I was able to leave before my husband got home, so he doesn't know I'm here." She looked past him as Roman, who was sitting on the edge of the bed, looking at her. "Oh my, what a handsome boy!"
       Virgil blushed. "Auntie please.."
"Well, I suppose as your former guardian, it's my duty to tell him stories about you." She walked in. "You're his friend. First one since he was just a wee lil' boy. Let me share some things." She sat down next to him.
Virgil sat next to Roman as she began talking about his parents.

His mother looked behind her at the kids in the backseat. "Your father and I have planned some great things for this trip." She smiled. She frowned when the kids gasped. As she turned back, she noticed a semi-truck directly in front of them.
"Three did not make it." The fireman pulled Virgil out of the car. "But one did." He set the small boy on the hospital stretcher, which the paramedics wheeled into the back of an ambulance.
"I rushed over as quick as I could! Are they okay?" His aunt and uncle ran up to the fireman, who respectfully took off his hat and informed them what had happened.
"Oh, just leave the boy at an orphanage when he gets better. He was ungrateful! He should've died in that crash instead of the others!" His uncle threw down the hat he was wearing.
"David!" His aunt yelled at him. "What the hell are you saying?! He's just a kid!"
       "It's his fault they died!"
Virgil stood in front of the pictures of his parents and sister. He didn't cry. He thought crying made him weak. But it just made his relatices feel sick, not even crying about your family's death.
He had to watch as his aunt and uncle constantly fought over him. His uncle hated him, and always said stuff to him when his aunt was gone. But she loved him. Once he was old enough, she bought him an apartment to live in so he didn't have to bear his uncle anymore.
She paid for the rent and everything. She was a wealthy woman, but he still felt bad. He has yet to get a part-time job to pay off rent. He hasn't done anything in return, but he's waiting for the right moment.

Virgil squeezed Roman's hand as his aunt continued. He stared at the floor, flashbacks flooding his mind. Tears formed in his eyes, but he quickly wiped them away.
"My sister and her husband were wonderful people. They loved Virgil unconditionally. And his sister was a sweet little thing. A little bratty, but that was every little girl back then." She smiled sadly, folding her hands, looking down. She felt her phone start buzzing and answered it. "Oh, yes. Yes, of course. Okay bye, love you." She stood up and smiled at them. "Your uncle's home. I got to get going. Love you, Virge." She kissed his cheek and left.
They both sat in silence for awhile. Roman kept his grip on Virgil's hand tight. Then he smiled, grabbing onto him.
"I love you, Virgil." He said. He let go and looked at him. "You beautiful boy." He moved his bangs and looked at the scar on his forehead. "I'm glad you're alive." He kissed it.
Virgil clung to him, hiding his face in his shoulder. He fell back onto the bed, not letting go. He groaned and sat up, keeping Roman down. He sat on top of him and took his shirt off.
Virgil touched Roman's sking with his cold hands, the other getting chills. "I love you too, you bastard." He went down and kissed him.

REQUESTS ARE OPEN

I was binging Haikyuu last night, and my favourite thing is that when Hinata first met Nishinoya he cried because he was taller than someone on the volleyball team.

Tsukki and Noya are my favourites. Who's your favourite character? (I also really like Yamaguchi and Tanaka)
