Given

So, new anime came out this month. Love it so far. And I just HAD to make a chapter on it.

"Hey, Virge. Let's go get some food." Terrance said, standing in front of his desk.

Virgil stretched and yawn. "No."

"Okay then, how about basketball?"

"Not today." He replied.

"You're skipping again?" Terrance groaned.

"I'm gonna go take a nap." Virgil stood and walked away.

"Again!?"

Virgil went to his favourite, deserted spot. No one ever arrives there, so that's where he likes to nap during break time. However, when he pushed through those doors, he found a boy laying in his napping spot, clutching an electric guitar.

The boy opened his eyes and noticed Virgil. He sat up and moved over to the wall, gesturing to the spot beside him. Which caught Virgil bu surprise. But he sat.

"Who are you?" The boy asked.

"Virgil Sanders." He replied.

"I'm Roman Eryns." He looked down the steps.

Virgil was a guitar player. Electric guitar. And seeing the rusted and old wires on the guitar the boy was holding made him irritated.

"God, why don't you get those strings fixed?! They're old and rusted! You can't play like that!" Virgil snapped.

"Ah, they can be fixed?" Roman looked at him in awe. "C-Can you fix them?"

"Ah, well, no. I don't have the proper tools right now." Virgil looked down the steps.

Roman held the guitar closer and lowered his head. Virgil noticed. He lowered his head more. Doing it two more times.

"Argh, fine!" Virgil stormed back to his classroom, grabbed his tools, and stormed back, fixing the guitar.

He finished and began tuning it. He did one strum once it was all tuned. Roman looking at him in amazement and lust.

He grabbed Virgil by the shirt collar and pulled him closer. "P-Please teach me how to play!"

Hah?! Virgil glared at him.

Virgil turned. "Go home!" He looked at Roman behind him, who was following him.

He continued walking. Irritated, he turned to find Roman trying to hide behind a lamp post. He groaned and continued walking.

He turned around to find Roman crouching behind a metal electrical box. He walked toward him.

Roman looked up and smiled a little. "Virgil."

Virgil looked at him in annoyance.

"Who's that?" Logan asked when Virgil walked in.

"It's like I picked up a stray puppy on the way!" Virgil complained.

"I'm confused."

"Be respectful to Logan! He's not scary just cause his face is scary!" Virgil said, turning to Roman.

Logan glared at his band mate.

"H-Hi.. I'm Roman Eryns." He bowed.

Patton walked in and stood next to Logan who was sitting in front of his drums.

"I wanted to hear you guys play." Roman tugged at the bottom of his shirt.

Logan and Patton looked at each other. Then they posed in front of the other two.

"Well, we'd love to play in front of you." They said, smiling idioticly.

"It's not like we're professionals or anything. And we aren't gonna play like gods out of no where." Virgil pointed out.

"We don't have what it takes to wow him." Logan said, defeatedly.

"Don't make it sound like he's right!" Patton pouted.

Logan sat at his drums and Patton grabbed his bass. "Then, let's give it what we got!"

Virgil grabbed his guitar. He began playing a beat. Patton followed along, humming the bass. He glared at Logan, who began playing also and stopped humming.

The music filled Roman's ears. He stared at them all in awe. He watched Virgil and Patton's fingers moving on the guitar and bass. Moving freely, the tunes mixing in well together. He watched the passion on their faces. The music filling the room. He focused on Virgil's electric guitar. Watching their movements so freely. Roman agreed with himself, that they did sound like gods. He stared at them when they finished.

"Ah.." he stared in amazement.

"Go to the light band club if you want to learn." Virgil said.

Virgil hadn't seen Roman in awhile. He shot the basketball towards the hoop, the ball bouncing off the rim as he fell back.

"Hey, you okay man? You've been out of it lately." Terrance said.

"Foti, take my spot." Virgil stood and walked towards the wall, sitting down and wiping his sweat with his shirt.

Why is it bothering me so much? He wondered. He's probably sitting there right now, waiting for me to arrive and expecting me to teach him. I've not taught anyone. I don't know how to teach someone. He stared at the double doors leading to his napping area. "Argh!" He said in annoyance. He stood and walked through the doors. No one.

He searched around the whole area. No one. So, he went there the next day. And the next day. And the next. And the next. No. One.

"Hey, Virgil. You've been staring for awhile now. Your face has looked like that for a few days, what's going on?" Logan asked, peering around the shelves in the convenience store.

"I always look like this." Virgil replied.

"No, the Virgil I know usually looks more annoyed." He crouched next to him. "We gotta close up, c'mon."

Virgil and Logan walked into the band room together. They both looked at Patton and Roman standing there.

"Y-Y-You! Why are you here?!" Virgil asked, pointing to Roman.

"Chill out." Logan said, grabbing a hold of him.

"Ah, Virgil!" Roman smiled a little.

"We were practising a little. Listen to this." Patton motioned towards Roman.

Roman strummed the electric guitar.

"He tuned it himself." Patton said, proudly.

That guitar doesn't look like one for a beginner. And it looks really expensive. Not to mention he doesn't even know how to play. How much did it even cost?

"Hey, Roman." Virgil said, too curious. "Is that guitar a hand-me-down from your dad or something?" He asked.

"Hm? Oh.. I don't have a dad." He looked away.

Virgil instantly was hit with the feel of guilt. "My bad.." he cleared his mind and turned back to Roman. "Put your ring finger here, then your index here."

Roman strummed.

"That's not tuned. It's off-key." Virgil mentioned. "Did you tune it?"

"Y-Yeah.." Roman replied. "Yesterday."

"Yesterday?! The pegs can easily move when the guitar is in it's case."

Roman looked at him confused.

"Do I need to explain what a peg is to you as well?!" He pointed to square-ish things at the tip of the guitar.

"Ah, th-thank you, Virgil.." Roman said.

Virgil took the guitar. "Is there anything you'd like to hear? Any song you like."

"..."

Did the question even get through to him?!

"I dunno." Roman replied.

Oh for fucks sake!

"I don't know if I like it, but it's a song that's been playing over and over in my mind." He answered.

"What's it called?" Virgil asked.

"I don't know the name, but it goes like this." Roman began vocally playing the tune. A beautiful, soft voice that hit Virgil instantly.

He listened to him smoothly play the tune, no lyrics. He was stunned. Amazed. In love with the voice he was hearing at that moment.

"A little like that." Roman stopped. He looked over to see Virgil looking down. He leaned closer. "Eh, Virgil? Are you oka-"

Suddenly, Virgil lifted his head and stared at Roman. "D-Do you want to join our band?!"

Sorry it's shitty. But, I figured, I need to write st least one more chapter to make up for my absence. And I have been loving the new anime, Given, so far that recently came out this month (July 2019)

It's so good.

First two episodes are on youtube if you don't have Crunchyroll.

Also, the four at the top are Haruki (long haired), Akihiko (short blonde), Uenoyama (black haired), and Mayufuu or Satou (dirty blonde-ish hair)
