(Prinxiety) cliché
Virgil huffed tired silently tracing the rim of his cup with his pinkie checking his phone every now and then, the strong aroma of freshly baked bread and coffee filled his nose which calmed him down greatly, now the only thing he needed to fit in with the atmosphere completely was a good book, if only he liked to read though.
He shifted his gaze to the many other people around him either sitting on booths or tables, and of course there was the occasional couple, it almost seemed cliché. A girl sitting in a coffee shop with a latte in hand and a thick book in the other, and then a guy, a handsome one that would seem like he just finished shooting a movie, would enter and sweep that girl off her feet in an instant.
It was all too predictable and boring, the male sighed and took a sip at his coffee, he would've told most people that he enjoyed black coffee because it resembled his soul, he was an edgy kid, but in reality he didn't enjoy the bitterness of black coffee. Not one bit. He could literally taste the many packs of sugar he dumped into his coffee trying to erase any bitterness as he possibly could as he drank the warm liquid, he set his cup back down and looked towards the cashier and once again checked the time on his phone, a few hours left until he could leave.
His father was the cashier, and Virgil had to wait until he finished his shift so that they could both go home, so there he was waiting patiently with his school bag beside him, the door of the shop opened, the golden bell on top jingled and a person stepped in. Virgil's eyes went wide at the person's appearance, the male was tall, he had a head of brown hair and wore a...a prince suit? Virgil tried to hold in his laughter as the prince ordered himself a coffee and turned to look for a seat.
The shop was full, hence the reason why Virgil's father had to work late, the prince however didn't give up he scanned the area looking for a free spot, and then his eyes lied on Virgil who was staring at him for far too long, when they met each others gazes Virgil immediately dropped his head and stared into his cup. He idly avoided the princes now curious gaze and took another sip from his overly sweetened coffee the flavor spreading through his tongue and teasing at the inside of his cheeks.
At some point he was sure that the prince had left, but he was immediately proven wrong when a cup was set in front of him and then someone took the seat in front of him. “Hello stranger, you're...Virgil correct?” Virgil slowly lifted his head and was met with the princes beautiful mocha eyes. “Depends on who's asking.” Virgil replied smoothly trying not to embarrass himself. “Ah right, I'm Roman, we haven't talked much but I go to the same school as you, you're the one who makes sure everything goes well during a play.” Roman explained with a kind enchanting smile.
Virgil knew exactly who he was, Roman was a major drama nerd and the best in his theatre arts class, his passion was acting and he surprisingly wasn't bad at it, he was loved by many due to him being easy to approach, he's kind and caring, and Virgil may or may not have a teeny tiny crush on him...
He cleared his throat trying to rid his mind of his 'rainbow' thoughts. “Y-yeah, didn't know you'd take notice of me." He muttered. “What's with the costume?” He eyed the male up and down. “Oh, yeah.” Roman chuckled and warily scratched the back of his head. “I just finished rehearsing a play, my regular clothes got soaked during a performance.” He said. “What play?” Virgil questioned. “Into the woods, at first we were going over 'Agony' with our formal clothing, and some girl decided that there wouldn't be enough feel if there wasn't soaked men so she grabbed a bucket and...well I think you can fill in the blanks.” Virgil thought for a moment imagining how it went and laughed.
Roman chuckled and took a sip from his coffee. “Dude that's hilarious, I should've been there.” Virgil snickered. “You should've, afterwards the girl got crazy and demanded I take off my shirt, I was utterly horrified.” Roman sighed and checked his watch. “You waiting for someone?” Virgil asked with a raised brow. “My friend, he's supposed to pick me up.” Roman replied and glanced over at Virgil who was staring at him. “What brings you here?” He questioned, Virgil nodded over to the male at the cash register, a wide and happy smile was plastered on his face and his glasses were tilted to one side. “My dad works here.” He answered with a small smile tugging at his lips.
“Seems pretty cliché,” Virgil stated and then continued. “he has a boyfriend who works as an author.” Roman smiled. “You think that's cliché? Ever heard of two lovers bumping into each other in school? And that's when they fall for each other.” Virgil groaned. “How about kissing in the rain? Bonus if it's after the couple has been separated from each other for a long time.” Roman smirked. “Oh it's on, dates at a carnival or fair, and they end it on top of the Ferris wheel with a kiss.” Virgil straightened his posture, a very rare thing since he's always slouching, and took a quick gulp from his coffee, Roman doing the same.
“Couples cooking with each other while dancing or lip syncing.” He leaned closer to the prince. “Walks on the beach.” Roman shot back leaning in towards the black cladded male. “Chasing the other in an airport before their plane leaves.” Virgil smirked. “Shoot, well you got me cornered.” Roman chuckled and then looked around, he smiled and looked back at Virgil.
“A date at a coffee shop...” He trailed off and then slowly placed his hand over Virgil's own. “Bonus if it's the first time, they fell in love with each other.” He whispered to him. “Bonus, if one of them has been in love with the other for a long time.” Virgil replied, his heart going a million beats per second. “Extra bonus, if the other finally realizes their feelings for the one in love with them.” Roman gave him a small smile, and then they leaned in closer....and then they....
“Hey kiddo! You ready to go home?” Both Roman and Virgil jumped as Virgil's father placed a hand on his shoulder. “Ah y-yeah.” Virgil stuttered and gathered his belongings, Roman immediately let go of his hand and went back to casually sipping his coffee, an obvious blush painted his cheeks, Virgil got up from his seat and smiled at Roman. “See you at school?” He said, Roman nodded. “Try not to bump into me.” He warned with a wink, Virgil rolled his eyes and paused for a moment before he took his leave.
Roman looked up at him and tilted his head to the side with a brow raised. “Are we cliché?” Virgil asked him with a smug smile and then he left leaving the prince to think, Roman felt his heart swell at Virgil's question and he took a long sip from his coffee and then set it down, he chuckled softly to himself and shook his head. “Definitely not...” He muttered and sighed. “Especially you, you're something else.” He watched as Virgil climbed into his car with his father following in suit and felt his smile widen.
“You're definitely different.”
