A Date? (Anxiety x Logic)
Prompt.
Logan didn't think anything of it when Virgil asked him to go out for coffee. The two of them were good friends, and it was only normal for them to hang out together. He had to admit he was confused as to why Virgil seemed to be more excited than usual about hanging out, and why he seemed to dress so nicely just for coffee. He didn't mention his confusion, just told Virgil that he looked nice, noticing the pink that appeared in his cheeks. The two of them sat down with their drinks, Virgil starting up a conversation.
"I was honestly really surprised you said you'd come." He admitted, staring down at the table. His face was growing more red every second. "I felt super nervous about asking you, and, well I guess it was silly to be so nervous since you said yes without really questioning it."
"Why wouldn't I have come? There was no reason to be nervous." Logan was only getting more confused about Virgil's behavior every minute, he was acting very strange. Why would he be nervous? The two of them hung out all the time.
"Who wouldn't be nervous?" Virgil questioned back. "I didn't know if you felt the same or not. You could've thought I was weird for it or something..."
Felt the same? Now he was making no sense at all. Logan still didn't say anything, letting Virgil go on as he tried to figure out what exactly was happening.
"And it's not exactly like I've been on very many dates before. I don't know what I'm doing, so that made me even more nervous about asking. I'm just really glad you said yes." He continued on, and Logan froze.
Date. A date? This was a date. Virgil had asked him on a date, that was why he was so nervous. That's what he meant about feeling the same. Everything suddenly clicked into place for Logan, and he felt his face burning in embarrassment. He was on a date. With Virgil. He was on a date with his friend, who he had figured out a while ago he had romantic feelings for.
"O-oh," he stuttered out, not really knowing what to say. "Well, I have to be... completely honest with you, Virgil, I was not entirely aware this was meant to be a date." He admitted, knowing that his face must be a very bright red. Virgil froze, looking shocked and incredibly embarrassed.
"Wait-you mean-oh god," he muttered, hiding his face in his hands. "I thought I had made it obvious enough, I guess I forgot you aren't... the best at understanding feelings, I'm sorry Logan. I-so you probably don't... I'm sorry." He rushed out, not moving his hands from his face. He couldn't face Logan after finding that out.
"That... doesn't mean that my answer is any different," Logan spoke softly. He felt his heart speed up as he thought about how he was on a date with the guy he liked right now, without even knowing it was meant to be a date. He felt very stupid, realizing that. "Even if I weren't completely oblivious when it comes to emotions, I would have said yes to going out with you. I do return your feelings, Virgil."
"You... you do?" Virgil slowly peeked out from behind his hands, face still red. "Well... that's good to hear. Sorry I made this whole thing confusing and complicated."
"It wasn't your fault. If I were like any normal person I likely would have realized you meant it as a date. So, I apologize." Logan frowned, and Virgil shook his head.
"No, if you were like any normal person I wouldn't have asked in the first place. I like you, Logan. Not anyone else." Virgil smiled shyly at him, and Logan gave his own small smile back.
"I like you too, Virgil." He replied. "Now that we have both cleared that up..."
The two of them continued talking and laughing, enjoying spending time together. Eventually they both had to leave, getting up and heading out, saying their goodbyes outside. Just before turning to leave Virgil paused, looking like he was thinking about something. Without giving him much time to realize what was going on, Virgil leaned in to kiss Logan on the cheek, waving and quickly leaving him behind.
Logan stood there for a moment, hand touching his cheek, face red. He smiled, thinking about Virgil and their date. He was glad he had agreed to come along.
