Moxiety (Platonic)

Today’s the day! Patton is finally getting adopted today, and it’s by a family with two other boys around his age. He was running around, jumping, and having an all together amazing day. He had already packed everything he had (which wasn’t much) and he was waiting on the bench by the door.

“Patton,” the head of the house said, “are you ready?” She had been nice to him, even though he was quite hyper. Patton instantly nodded, grinning to himself. He’d been an orphan for seven years now, since birth.

She smiled softly. “Mr. Sanders is here to pick you up.” She walked over, kneeling down to hug Patton tightly. “I’m gonna miss you, Pat.”

He hugged back. “Imma miss you too,” Patton mumbled. “But my dads will let me come visit!” They had already promised he could when they saw how close he was to the mother of the house.

She smiled softly, and stood. She took Patton’s hand, leading him out to the car. He got in and waved goodbye as they drove off. Patton turned to the others. “Hi Dad! Hi Daddy!”

His dads, Roman and Logan, looked back at the three boys in the back. Roman was the one who was in the driver’s seat. He had short, wavy, dark hair and chocolate brown eyes. He was tall, around 6’1 and built. He wore a deep red t shirt and a pair of blue jeans.

Logan, on the other hand, was only around 5’9. He wore a black polo and dark blue jeans, and a dark blue tie with a red design on it. He had reddish-brown hair and deep grey-blue eyes. He wasn’t nearly as built, and was quite pale, contrasting Roman’s dark tan skin.

The two both waved as Roman started the car and started driving. Patton looked at his two new brothers. One was a couple years older than him, that was Liam. The other, Virgil, was a year or so younger, his name is Virgil.

Liam was 9, and tall for his age. He was already over 5 feet, and more built like Roman. He held an aura of confidence and made him seem bigger than he was already. His hair was a light blond, and Liam had dark blue eyes. He scowled at his new brother behind their dads’ backs and Patton frowned at him.

He turned his gaze to the one in between himself and Liam, Virgil. He was six, and even though Patton was short for his own age, Virgil was shorter. He was tiny in every aspect of the word. His dark brown hair hung in his light blue eyes and he stared down, playing with a small bat stiffie. He had on a toddler’s hoodie and some shoes that light up.

Patton smiled and tapped Virgil, making him jump. “Hiya, Virgie,” Patton said. “Sorry for scaring ya, how are you?”

Virgil gave him a small thumbs up, smiling a little. He glanced between Patton and Liam, really hoping his new brother wasn’t like Liam was. Liam didn’t like Virgil, though it wasn’t obvious to their dads.

Liam glanced over, giving them both hard looks. He didn’t like either of them, though that didn’t stop Patton from trying to get along with him.

Patton was always trying to win his brother’s love, why? He didn’t know, he just wanted the three of them to get along. He had caught Liam teasing Virgil for being mute more than once, but he couldn’t ever get proof. Even if he did have it, Virgil wouldn’t tell his dads about any of it.

The oldest kept picking on the youngest, Patton stuck in the middle. He tried helping, but Virgil wouldn’t tell anyone and Liam just wouldn’t stop. This went on for three years before anyone did anything.

Patton had had it when he found Virgil silently sobbing in his room one day. “Kiddo?” Patton asked, rushing over. “What’s wrong?”

Virgil looked up at him, eyes red and puffy from crying. He started signing quickly, and Patton only made out a few words. Liam. Hurt. Friends. Nobody. Hate. Mute. Freak.

When Virgil signed that last word, Patton grabbed his hands. “Virgie,” he said gently. “We’re telling Dad and Daddy, ok?” He didn’t wait for an answer, pulling Virgil from the bedroom.

The younger struggled to get away, pulling on his arm to get it from Patton’s grasp, but he couldn’t. They soon got to Roman and Logan and Patton got their attention. Liam was right there too.

Logan’s eyes widened as he saw Virgil’s face. “Oh, Star, what’s wrong?” he asked. Virgil was his little boy, he acted a lot like Logan.

Virgil tried pulling from Patton again, but Pat cleared his throat. “Dad, Liam’s been being mean to Virgie,” he said, catching Roman and Liam’s attention as well.

Roman glances between his three sons. “Really? What about?” he asked, eyebrow quirked. He and Logan had been suspecting this for a while, but thought the two would work through it.

Liam put on a small, innocent face. “Daddy, Patton’s lying,” he said. “I love Virgil and I couldn’t be mean to him if I tried.”

Logan focused on Virgil. “Star, why are you crying?” he asked softly. His gaze flickered between his three kids, searching for tells that anyone was lying.

Virgil looked down, slowly signing Liam’s name. He started explaining how Liam would tease him for being mute, telling him how their dads hated him, how Liam would push him around outside, and how Liam would tell him that he should just learn how to talk.

Roman looked angry, to say the least. He turned to Liam, “Ok, kid. We all know the rules in this house, which includes that if you can’t say anything nice…” He trailed off, letting Liam finish.

Liam hung his head. “...we don’t say anything at all,” he finished.

Logan nodded. “To your room, Liam. Me and your dad are going to go talk about an appropriate punishment for you.”

The oldest went to his room, shooting small glares at his brothers. Logan shook his head. “Why didn’t you tell us sooner, Star?” he asked gently.

Virgil shook his head. ‘Didn’t want Liam in trouble,’ he signed, and earned a hug from both his dads and Patton. He explained what had happened in the past few years.

Let’s just say, Liam was in a lot of trouble. He wasn’t allowed to do anything but housework and homework for three weeks, and no extra curriculars the rest of the school year. He wasn’t allowed in the same room as either of his brothers alone, either.

Liam hated it, and tried apologising, but he didn’t get any reprieve. Virgil was happy, though, to have some peace from Liam for a bit.
