Based on Into the Unknown

Virgil was sick and tired of the voice in his head.

It constantly spoke to him, telling him that it was out there, it was his soulmate, and he needed to find it.

He didn't believe it, and just thought he was crazy.

He never told anyone, because saying that he was hearing voices was a one-way trip to medication town, and he didn't want that.

He really hated it and ignored it.

His life was fine the way it was, and he needed no 'soulmate' if such a thing existed.

He knew Patton, his best friend, wouldn't hesitate, and would certainly follow it, even if it didn't exist outside his mind.

But Virgil had an actual, real life, and he wasn't going to chase around voices inside his head.

He had Patton and Logan, and he had his family. They were right here, and so he wouldn't leave.

He didn't want to lose everyone because the voice wouldn't shut the hell up.

The voice was always there, keeping him from sleeping, making it that much harder to concentrate, and just being a pain in the butt.

There were a few times, though... the times at two am, where he heard it call out in desperation, just wanting someone... he almost wanted to find whoever it was and help them.

If he wasn't crazy, and there was an actual person, they had a lot in common. That person also wanted to be loved, wanted to fit in, wanted... someone there.

So he half-wished the person did exist.

And though his brain fought it, he began to believe in the voice. He wanted to find it, he just wasn't sure how.

It was already affecting his life, so a little searching wouldn't hurt, right?

The voice just got more and more present in his head, and it began to be his main focus.

He started slipping in the real world and decided he had to do something.

He had to find the voice.

It seemed like it knew him, like it was a similar person.

And he'd be crazy to pass up a chance to meet his soulmate if he did exist.

When the voice got fainter and began to lose hope, he realized he had to act.

He had to find his soulmate.
