Walking Alone (Prinxiety)
This is inspired by On My Own from Le Misérables.
(If you haven't listened to that musical it is so good and a classic! I highly recommend!)
This ^^^ song is one of my new favorites! Also Spectral Heart has another song for Roman called Tale Of The Mountain and it's also really good!
I haven't posted in a while! But that's mostly because I'm reading more books (I've recently started to read some analogical starting with a book called Lovely)

TW: it's a little sad. I'm not gonna spoil anything but it's sad.

(Virgil's POV) (*gasp* I never do first person!)
I walked through the park. It was around midnight and the moon was shining brightly. I walked kind of slowly as I took in the scene. I imagined Roman Hutchinson next to me. Holding my hand and smiling boisterously. I smiled sadly as I realized that Roman wasn't next to me. And he would never be.
I shivered at the cold wind that blew past my face. I wrapped the red varsity letterman jacket around myself tightly. I sighed.
There was no point in hoping. I know he won't just show up and wrap his arms around me, cupping my cheek and kissing me softly. Though I could still feel him next to me.
His voice still rang in my ears and his smile was forever engrained into my memory.
I walked by the giant Elm tree that we had so many memories of our childhood and our teenage and even young adult lives.

"Roman! Put me down!" Virgil screamed when Roman lifted him up bridal style and hoisted him into the tree.
"Come on princess. It's not that bad. Plus you're too short to reach the stable branches!" Roman said and climbed up after him. "We wouldn't want you to get hurt now would we?" Roman said and booped Virgil's nose.
Virgil hissed at him, but then leaned onto Romans shoulder.
They were only 7, but even then, they were in love.
~~~~~~~~~
"See? That one looks like a castle!" Roman said as he used his unoccupied hand to point at a cloud.
Virgil looked up and smiled.
"You're such a dork." Virgil said and squeezed Romans hand. Roman squeezed back just as tightly.
"You love this dork."
Virgil sat up and hit Roman lightly on the shoulder. He was blushing brightly and Roman sat up as well. He leaned over and kissed him.
"I love you, my dark prince." Roman said and looked into Virgil's eyes.
"And I you, my knight." Virgil said in fake regal attitude. They both giggled afterwards.
They were 14 and now they knew that they loved each other.
Virgil and Roman were walking up to the tree. They had just had a fancy dinner for their 8 year anniversary. They had a nice day and it was around 6:45, the sun was going down and they both loved the scene.
Roman walked them in front of the tree and looked down at Virgil lovingly.
"Virgil, you know I love you, right?"
"Do you think I would still be with you after 8 years if I didn't know that?"
"Well I wanted to make sure. And to truly show you, I would like to spend the rest of my life with you. So Virgil," he got down on one knee and Virgil just gasped, "will you marry me?"
Virgil was crying now, he smiled brightly and nodded. He was too choked up to talk properly.
Roman slipped the ring onto his finger and got up and kissed him. They held each other and just cried together and kissed each other over and over again.
They were only 21 and they knew they would never love anyone more than they loved each other.
I walked past the tree after staring at it for a moment. I was smiling so wide but I was crying violently. I walked farther and saw what I was going towards.
Roman Hutchinson
June 4, 1989-December 26, 2017
Beloved brother, husband, father, and friend
Virgil read the gravestone for what felt like the millionth time. And it probably was, he went there almost every week. He laid down a single purple rose. He kissed his fingers and then ran his fingers across the engraved name.
"Hey Ro, I can feel you here. So I just want you to know that I still love you. And I will always love you." He choked back a sob and his lip quivered slightly.
"I brought this rose as a sign of my love. It's a purple rose. And those signify love at first sight and enchantment. I looked for so long for this. And I found it in that one flower shop off of Maddison Avenue. That cute one that's run by Emily. That little old lady's still kicking. She kicked out a man because he was being homophobic to this one couple that came in looking for flowers for their wedding. Man, that woman is really something.
"Anyways, it's my birthday today. And I miss you so much. It's been almost exactly two years since you died. I'm 28 now. I've had to live through two birthdays without you here. It's been hard, I won't lie. But I've gone to a therapist and I'm doing better. But that doesn't stop me from missing you.
"Opal is doing great, and she is such your daughter. She recently started watching The Lion King and every time she sees Simba, she calls out "dadda!" And it's the cutest thing ever. She had her first performance the other day, and might I say she got all of her theatrical-ness from you. She has started to say "break a leg!" When she wishes someone good luck. It's really adorable."
Virgil sighed and sat down at the edge of the gravestone and let out a sob.
"I miss you so much. Pat and Lo have missed you too. They are over almost every day. They help me take care of Opal and your parents have been really helpful as well."
Virgil pauses for a while and saw a street lamp at the edge of the cemetery flicker. He looked over and swore he saw Roman for a split second.
"It's good to know I'm not talking to nothing." He said with a smirk and then felt a rush of cold rush past him and smelled Romans cologne.
"I can't wait to see you again."
(No ones POV) (I got tired of that POV)
Virgil looked around the hospital room to see Opal and her partner standing on one side of the bed he was laying in. Their children were there too. They had three children, one was 16, another was 10, and the last was 4. They had two boys and a non-binary child.
"Quill," he addressed Opal's spouse, "you must take care of my daughter."
"I will, dad." Quill said back with tears in their eyes.
He turned to Opal and grabbed her hand.
"I love you so much. Any message you want to convey to your father?" Virgil asked.
She smiled lightly. "Tell him I miss him and tell him about all of our children and all the remarkable things they do."
And with that, Virgil fell asleep and when he woke up, he was met with a blinding white light. He looked around and when his eyes adjusted, he saw what looked to be...
"Roman!" Virgil said and rushed up to kiss him. When they pulled back Roman just smirked at him,
"Took you long enough."
I liked this chapter. It took me so long to write but that's alright.
Did you like it?
I am probably going to slow down on updates so I can read some more fics because I haven't been able to truly read a full couple fics in quite some time. I will eventually go back to writing a chapter a day but right now I need to read so I can have ideas.
Anyways! Have a great day/night, lovelies!
