This is the rewrite of Brother! Aka, my first chapter I ever wrote. I look back and cringe a lot so I'm rewriting it haha

This one is a bit different from the first one story wise, but it is roughly the same

Tw: GORE, injury, crying, implications of death, theres a dragon, idk what else to say but there's a lot

There was always a strange dynamic between the twins. They were opposites, mostly. They've had their differences, though after the last time Roman and Janus spoke, Roman couldn't help but wonder.

Were they similar?

Maybe they were.

This thought is what led him to the dark sides part of the mindscape. He walked through, completely ignoring where Patton and Janus sat cuddling. He didn't want to see either of them right now. He walked through and got to Remus' door. He could practically feel the two in the common room's eyes staring holes into the back of his head. He knocked.

"GO AWAY JANUS!" Remus screamed, making Roman jump a bit. Roman felt anger build up in his chest at that. I guess Roman wasn't the only one Janus had hurt.

"It's not Janus." Roman said through the door, hearing silence for a moment and then the door opened.

Remus stood hunched over, a small confused glare on his face. "What do you want?" He asked.

"I..." Roman paused and then looked into Remus' eyes. That was a strange feeling... He suddenly had the urge to pull him into a hug. He didn't, knowing what would happen if he did. "I'm here to hang out with you. I had a quest I wanted to do in the imagination, but I didn't want to go alone."

Remus paused and then started to walk towards the imagination door, Roman trailing behind. He passed Janus and held up his middle finger to both Janus and Patton. Maybe Roman wouldn't mind this trip...

They soon got to the imagination door and Remus immediately swung the door open, breathing in the nice cool imagination breeze. Roman walked through as well and Remus slammed the door to the imagination, huffing. He didn't want Janus to follow them. It was just going to be the two of them today. Maybe they could fix things between them. Maybe it wouldn't be horrible. A guy could hope, right?

"So, what's the quest, Wonderboy?" Remus asked, seemingly intrigued.

"There's been a dragon that's been attacking the village over the hill and the villagers came to me to help. I just thought that maybe you'd want to come too." Roman said, his lips curling up just a bit in a small smile.

"Well then, what are we waiting for?" Remus asked, breaking out into a grin. "Let's go beat this bitch!" He said, taking Roman's hand and dragging him along happily. Wow, this was just like when they were kids.

Remus dragged him all the way to a large hill that the village was behind. "It's just up past this hill!" Roman said happily as he went to run with Remus, hand in hand to the hill he was talking about. As soon as they got to the top of the hill they both paused.

The village... it was gone. Burned to ash. Only stray cobbles remained.

"Holy shit." Roman mumbled, seeing all of the blackened bones and skeletons of the villagers scattered over the ground.

Both of the twins eyes darkened.

"Let's go kill this son of a bitch." Remus growled as they went to run through the village to the dragon's lair.

As soon as they got there they ran in, their sword and morning star in hand, respectively.

"Hey dragon asshole! Get out here and pay for the lives you took!" Roman shouted into the cave. He heard a growl from the darkness and a sharp chill went down both of their spines.

First mistake: splitting up.

Just like they had for years, they ran in opposite directions from each other.

They hid behind rocks on opposite sides of the cave. They heard thundering steps echo around the cave. The dragon reared it's head and spit fire to the top of the cave, the twins feeling the heat hit their faces.

"Shit!" Roman squeaked as a fire hot boulder fell from the ceiling, almost crushing him but he jumped out of the way in time. Now he was out in the open.

Second mistake: Not moving in time.

The dragon took its taloned feet and picked Roman up, its talons stabbing into Roman's sides. The dragon brought Roman up to its face, looking into his terrified eyes.

Third mistake: Disrupting a dragon in a time of observation.

"Let go of him you giant scaly bastard!" Remus shouted, rushing towards the dragon. The dragon just had fire in it's eyes as it's head snapped to look at Remus. It's tail flicked and smacked Remus in the abdomen, making him fly across the room at hit the rock wall. He grunted in pain as he fell to the ground on his face. The dragon turned back to Roman, looking back into his eyes, a bit more angry now

Roman just struggled against the dragon, thrashing around to try and get out of its grasp. He then realized something, looking straight into the dragon's eyes. "Why did you do it? What was the reason? May I ask?" Roman asked softly, remembering the etiquette he was taught when he was young by the dragon witch.

The dragon just dipped it's head in approval and Roman leaned his forehead against the dragon's.

He was immediately seeing a forest. This forest. Well, what used to be this forest. Now the whole forest was burned to the ground. He heard shouting. It sounded like a young woman screaming.

"Help! Dragons!" She screeched.

"Dragons?" Roman asked softly, he only knew of the one dragon.

Before Roman had time to react, a parade of villagers were coming towards the dragon's cave. Roman followed after. They all had torches and weapons. What the hell are they doing?

Roman was suddenly in the dragon's cave. But wait... there was more than one. Three babies and the dragon from before. But something was different... the dragon was just watching her kids. She looked happy.

"Kill the beast!" The villagers shouted, raiding the cave and immediately going for the babies.

"Stop!" Roman shouted, going to stand in front of them to stop them but they went straight through him.

After watching the scene, Roman saw three dragon babies but they weren't... the villagers... they killed them.

"Holy shit."

Roman was suddenly back in the dragon's grasp, gasping for air as tears streamed down his face. "Oh my god. I'm so sorry." Roman said through his tears, going to gently pet the dragon's snout. "If anything like that happens again, come get me. I will help protect you. I promise."

The dragon just leaned into his hand before placing Roman on the ground. Roman bowed to the dragon, the dragon bowing her head back. Roman then rushed over to Remus. "Remus? Remus are you alright?" Roman asked, shaking Remus.

Shit

He was unconscious.

Roman just picked him up and held him in his arms. "I have to get you back to Logan." Roman said, quickly standing up and running toward the exit of the cave. He ran quickly through the imagination until he got to the darksides door. He ran in and Patton and Janus immediately hopped up.

"What the fuck did you do to him?" Janus asked angrily.

"Oh ho ho, you're one to talk." Roman growled.

"Whoa, kiddo, everything's going to be alright." Patton tried to calm him down.

"Shut the fuck up. Where's Logan?" He asked, still sort of growling.

"In the common room."

Roman immediately rushed towards the common room.

Hopefully Remus would be fine.

Whew! That was long and took me forever to finish but it's done!

The tables have been turned! Remus was the one to get hurt!

Also I think this is 10/10 in the way of improvement on this chapter. It has a story and it even has more reasons behind it so ahaha I have done an improvement.

Also I sorta kinda stole a bit of Shapa's style with the italics and stuff so yeah
