Masquerade (Prinxiety)
Royal AU
~~~~~~~~~
There was a huge winter ball that was thrown every year in the kingdom. It was open to all people, royals and commoners alike.
But no one knew who anyone was, as it was a masquerade ball.
Virgil was a commoner in the village and he was in love with the prince. But not for no reason, they had seen each other around the village as the prince used to visit him every day. So Virgil hoped to see him at the ball.
But he was anxious to say the least. He was worried that the prince will have found someone better and possibly of higher standing than him to court.
He put on his tux and his mask and headed for the ball. It was a purple tux with a black vest underneath. His mask looked like it was dipped in black ink.
He entered the ballroom and looked across to see all of the people who occupied the room. He started to get very anxious. Well even more anxious then he already was. He might throw up. He was going to throw up. His breathing increased and he just needed some fresh air. He saw an open door that led to a balcony. He rushed towards it. Once he was out on the balcony, he leaned over the railing and breathed in the cold winter air. His breathing started to slow as he looked at the snowflakes gently falling.
"Hello there," someone said from behind him in a kind voice, managing Virgil jump.
"Oh! Hello!" Virgil said in surprise. This stranger was very pretty but he just wanted the prince.
"What is a beautiful man like you doing out here in the cold with no one to warm you up?" The man asked in a polite but suggestive way.
"Well I was looking for someone. But that someone isn't here from what I can tell," Virgil said looking down at the garden beneath the balcony.
"And who might that someone be?" The stranger asked.
"Well, it sounds weird coming from a commoner like me. I mean you could probably tell that from my clothes," he examined the mans own clothing, "See yours are craftsman made and made of beautiful material, like what you would see on a royal. Even with your own emblem. Mine... are handmade and made of very crappy material, fit for a carpenters son. But I'm ranting," he blushed and looked back at the ground, "I'm really here to see the prince. And it sounds weird but I'm in love with him, wether he knows it or not."
"And what makes you love him?" The man asked, leaning against the railing next to Virgil, who smiled warmly at the memory of the prince.
"Well," he chuckled slightly, "he had these... downright gorgeous eyes. They were like a golden rose, they had those beautiful red rings in them. And it looked like he was straight out of a fairytale. He had perfect hair, not matter what time of the day. I used to sneak into the castle to see him at night. We would sit and talk for hours. He... his hands were perfectly large, mine are small and feminine, and his fingers fit perfectly between mine. His lips moved in sync with my own pair. And..." he looked over to see the man staring at him in slight shock, "sorry."
"Whatever are you sorry for?" The man asked with a smile.
"I'm ranting. About the prince, of all people. And," he sighed, "I guess I just miss him."
"Well I know where he is."
Virgils eyes lit up with excitement, he would finally get to see his prince. "Where?"
"You're lookin at him." He said as he took off his mask.
Virgil's eyes widened as he saw Prince Roman look back at him. He stepped away from him slightly and bowed towards him.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry, your Highness!" Virgil said and blushed bright red. Not only had he been not respecting the prince, but he was also gushing about him to his face! How stupid of him.
Roman chuckled quietly and Virgil looked back at him questioningly.
"There is no need to apologize Virgil," be said, walking towards him and taking him in his arms. Virgil didn't dare move, he was honestly comfortable in his arms, "that was very adorable how you described me."
Virgil turned bright red in his arms and looked down.
"Hey, I was just joking. It's good to see you and to hear that. I was worried you would have found someone better than me," Roman said, dropping the playful remarks and became sweet and serious. Virgil felt so loved in that moment as he realized that he was having the same worries.
"No, I understand. I was worried about the same thing. I was afraid you would have another royal to keep you company and be your lover." Virgil said, not breaking eye contact with him.
Roman looked at him and smiled, "would you mind if I?"
Virgil understood what he meant and nodded slowly.
Roman leaned in and kissed him slowly, giving him time to back away. Instead, Virgil deepened the kiss. They both just felt loved and loved and as if nothing had changed between them. They pulled away just as slowly as they had started.
"Your lips really do match mine well."
