Holiday Blues
My heart and soul have been taken over by an absolutely stunning ship. I couldn't stop myself from writing this.
TW: sympathetic Deceit, sympathetic Remus, drinking
Roman couldn't help but notice Deceit keeping to the edge of the room during the New Year's Eve party the sides were throwing. He had a glass of champagne in his hand that he sipped from every few minutes, and he seemed very focused on one patch of the carpet.
About an hour into the party, Roman turned to Logan, who was leaning against him. "Darling, Deceit's sulking in a corner," he murmured in Logan's ear. "I'm gonna go see if he's okay."
Logan nodded and turned his head, pressing a quick kiss to Roman's cheek, "Okay, Ro."
Roman pressed a kiss to Logan's cheek as well before maneuvering between the many people from the village he had invited. When he reached Deceit was, he leaned against the wall next to him.
"Is everything alright, De?" Roman asked after a few seconds, looking up at Deceit.
Said trait shrugged, taking a drink of his champagne. "I'm simply tired, Roman," Deceit responded after a moment. "Do not worry about me."
Roman nodded and walked off to find Logan again, although he was far from satisfied by Deceit's answer.
"Is he okay, honey?" Logan asked after Roman wrapped his arms around Logan's waist.
Roman sighed and rested his chin on Logan's shoulder. "He says he's tired, but I don't believe him," Roman murmured.
Logan hummed in response and glanced back at Deceit, following his gaze to Patton and Virgil exchanging quick kisses.
"I think I figured it out," Logan said softly, resting his head against Roman's.
Roman perked up, his chin leaving Logan's shoulder. "Oh? What do you think's the matter?"
Logan didn't respond to Roman. Instead, he scanned the room with wide eyes, letting out a hum when he saw the side he had in mind.
"Darling, what is it?" Roman asked, but Logan didn't respond again. He simply took Roman's hand and dragged him to the bottom of the stairs where Remus sat.
"What's up, nerdy wolverine?" Remus warbled, leaning against the stairs and looking up at the two.
"Deceit needs you," Logan said bluntly, causing Remus to sputter. "And you, too, Roman."
"W-what?" Roman gasped, staring at Logan as if he suddenly grew horns.
"Let me explain," Logan said with a smile, squeezing Roman's hand before glancing at Remus. "He misses King, and he needs to be able to be with him tonight, even if just for a few minutes."
Roman nodded and looked between Logan and Remus. "What do you think, 'mus?"
"Weeeeeeellllllll," Remus started, drawing out the word to taunt the two. "I think that I would love to do that for him!!! Awwww, uniting the two starcrossed lovers!!!"
Roman threw back his head and laughed, a tear escaping out of his eye. "Never in my life, Remus, did I think I'd hear you say that!"
Logan shook his head at his laughing boyfriend and squeezed his hand. Roman smiled and squeezed Logan's hand back, calming down from his laughing.
"Alright, Remus," Roman said, letting go of Logan's hand and taking both of Remus's to pull him up from the stairs. "Let's make our slithering snake happy!"
Remus squealed in delight and hugged Roman, spinning the two in a circle as a blinding light surrounded them.
A few seconds later, the light subsided, revealing the result of the fusion.
King Romulus stood slightly taller than the rest of the sides, and his outfit was a mix of Roman's and Remus's. His suit was black, but the green sash and silver accents were replaced by Roman's red sash and gold accents. A faint mustache could be seen on his upper lip, but his hair lacked Remus's silver streak (much to Roman's relief).
Logan stood back as he watched King gain his bearings, waiting for what he knew was coming.
As soon as King realized where he was, he looked around the room, his eyes wide. "Where's my honeypoo?!?!"
